Time stamp to number function

The Conversion VIs and Functions palette has a function that converts the number of seconds elapsed to a time stamp (To Time Stamp Function).  I need to go in the other direction, from a time stamp to a double (number of seconds elapsed since 12:00 a.m., Friday, January 1, 1904 Universal Time).  Does anyone have a function to do this?  I've tried to type cast with no success.

Just use the To Double Precision Float function. It's polymorphic and it will accept a timestamp to return the number of seconds since the LabVIEW "zero-time".

  • Time stamp to number conversion

    Hi All,
I notice in Labview 7.0 the 'Get Date/Time to Seconds' and 'Seconds to Date/Time' now output a Time Stamp rather than actual seconds.
There is a 'To Time Stamp" standard vi in the conversion pallet that converts a number (seconds) to a time stamp but I really need to convert from a Time Stamp to real seconds.
Does anyone have a vi that might do this or is there something already in LabVIEW 7.0 I have overlooked?
Many Thanks in Advance for your help.

You are going to have to post an example where the conversion does not work.

  • Time Stamp via Custom Function

This is such a basic concept for a custom function that I am assuming someone out there has done it already. I have never created a custom function for Essbase, though I have programmed in a variety of languages and I'm assuming getting the current date/time in Java is not exactly rocket science. I have reviewed the docs for creating and registering custom functions and that also appears relatively simple, especially with the examples available.<BR><BR>What I want is a function that returns a Double in the form of a Date/Time that I can retrieve into Excel and display as a Date/Time. We want a simpler, more effective way of time stamping the running of calculations, more effective than combing through the app logs when we need to know if/when a calc ran a week or a month or two ago.<BR><BR>Does anyone have some sample code and/or insights to share on this topic? I would greatly appreciate it if you do.<BR><BR>Thanks,<BR><BR>James

fyi - I ended up implementing a solution in Perl/Maxl that gives a timestamp to the second in a format that can be retrieved intelligently into Excel. I use the Perl time() function (Unix server) to get the GMT epoch time as a long int. Then I convert it into the floating point DATE format for Windows, with the hard-coded assumption of what time zone my server is in. Then I run a calc from MaxL that sets this value. I build the calc string in Perl and pass it into MaxL. Pretty cool. The calc uses two sub vars, one for the members to fix on and the other for the Scenario to timestamp. This way the perl/maxl is database independent.<BR><BR>Just thought someone might want to know...

  • Forwarding text mssg so it includes date /time stamp and number sent to

My blackberry would forward or email a text message so that it included the address sent to, and was date and time stamped.
I see how to forward in the iphone 4 ( Verizon) but it only send sends the message with no other data.
How can I get it to include the data ?

  • Time stamp / serial number

Trying to create a serial number that is stamped with a dealer ID code, and the current date/time when the form is initially opened.
    var dealer_id = String(Dealer_ID.rawValue);
    var today = new Date();
    var serializedNumber = Dealer_ID + today.getTime();
    SerialNum.rawValue = serializedNumber;
Something is amiss as I get this info in the SerialNum field:
    [objectXFAobject]115764993
Any help figuring this out is greatly appreciated!
    Joe Zach

    Joe,
Javascript is case-sensitive. The following is the cause of your problem:
    var serializedNumber = Dealer_ID + today.getTime();
It is trying to add the Dealer_ID form field object itself to the time. You need to instead add the
value of the field to the time. Change 'Dealer_ID' to 'dealer_id' and that should fix your problem.

  • How to plot contour using time stamp

    Hello,
I need help on the following:
I acquire size distribution data each minute from a particle counter. I would like to plot the data as a contour plot using time stamp on the x-axis, the size bins on the y-axis and the 2D data on the z-axis. I cannot get the contour functionality in LV 2011 to accept the time stamp format. I did change the format of the x-axis to "absolute time" but it still doesn't work, see simplified diagram below.
Any advice on reformatting a time stamp to something the contour plot understands??!?
    Thanks a lot,

    Hi Mogensen!
You could use the "To Double Precision Float" vi to convert the timestamp to a double prescion number as mentioned in this forum post "time stamp to number function". As mentioned in that forum, the number is based on the LabVIEW epoch date so you can use it to compare values taken at a specific time.
I can't look right now but will that work?
I thought the 3D stuff was single and the magnitude of the time stamp would swamp the difference in time stamps.
    Just thinking out loud.

  • Any table which has Time stamp when a company code is created

    Hi Guys,
This is a simple question but there has been no easy answer.
I have 100 company codes of which I would like to find when the company code went live. Does any one a simple way rather than going by Transport number.
-Table T001 and T880 does not have any time stamp
    - Transport number is the way but it is very difficult to go through thousands of  transport
Do let me know if there is any way.
    Thanks,
    R

    Hello,
Please try Evaluating the Change Logs (if not archived/deleted) using Transaction Code SCU3
Give the table name as T001 and select the option 'Tables' in the 'Evaluation for' section and give an appropriate time. You will then see the list containing Change Docs for this table.
    Hope this helps.

  • Encore 2.0's starting PTS (presentation time stamp) ?

    Greetings:
Could you please provide the starting PTS (presentation time stamp) in number of ticks based on a 27 MHZ clock?
(I own a subtitle extractor that computes different time stamp values and was told that the PTS was different for Encore 2.0.)
    Thanks,
    William Johnston

    Ruud:
A sample text line is shown below:
    00:01:43:16&00:01:46:08#G:\DVD\Subtitle Extractor output\Cowboy Bebop Remix\images\extractor output\EXT_03_1_1\temp_1.bmp
I use OCR software to create text from the bitmap.
The 27Mhz clock was from a technical contact. The company name is authoringware.com.
As an aside, I purchased a program from authoringware that recomputes VOB files based on a new DTS value.
Hopefully, I can create timestamps that are the same as Encore's TextScript timestamps.
I am still researching the issue.

  • Number to time stamp function: criptic help

Your help is VERY misleading.... it costed me hours...
If you say that the time stamp is "time-zone-independent number of seconds that have elapsed since 12:00 a.m., Friday, January 1, 1904, Universal Time"  you should display it as it is or *please* say that the time stamp is calculated in UTC time but displayed in local time.
In fact, if I want to convert 3600, I would expect to see 1:00 am 1/1/1904, but I see 6:00 pm 12/31/1903, because I am in Colorado....
By the way... it is wrong anyway, because there is now Daylight Savings time, which puts CO at UTC-6, not UTC-7..... Why don't you just have it display UTC time and we can all figure out where we live??

Did I say something like that?
And in LabVIEW 8.6 the Date/Time Format functions have an option to select if you want to see local time or UTC. And believe me if LabVIEW would display by default UTC instead of local time, 99.999% of the users would complain in a way that NI would not be able to do other business than answering those complaints anymore.
About the time zone difference you should probably check your Windows settings. LabVIEW is simply using whatever Windows believes is the timezone it is working in. You usually select that during installation of a Windows system and there are various options such as not letting Windows adjust for DST automatically and then you might have adjusted simply the timezone or something.

    Hi Arjya,
If your requirement is to create , the file name dynamically for your receiver file adapter, you can do so using your FILE ADAPTER CONFIGURATION itself, and need not go for any JAVA Mappping / Java Code at all.
*The dynamic filename generation concept is as follows.8
In your filename field in the receiver file adapter, just give a variable with % symbols. (eg: %file% ).
Now, under the option Variable Name Substitution, you can give how the value has to be created.
It can be your interface name, sender service name, etc or it can be some value dynamically from your payload.
    For the former, your give
    message:interface_name ,etc
and for the payload part you give,
Payload: "your element root which u wanna acecss"
    Just check this link out,
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/bc/bb79d6061007419a081e58cbeaaf28/content.htm
And read the contents under variable substitution and it will help you understand the concepts better.
Also, in your FILE Adapter under the option FILE CREATION MODE, you have options like,
    1.Add Counter,
    2. Append
    3. Create
    4. Add Time Stamp
    Reward points if this helps

    Try this way:
CONVERT TIME STAMP <tst> TIME ZONE <tz> INTO DATE <d> TIME <t>.
CONVERT DATE <d> TIME <t> INTO TIME STAMP <tst> TIME ZONE <tz>.
<tst> is of type P(8) or P(11) with 7 decimal places
    <tz> of type C(6)
