Time To Eat My Words!!!

U guessed right!! i'm having trouble with my razr maxx...no sound is coming through for whatever reason.
the technician who assisted me by phone, was extremely courteous and i believe she did as much as she coudl to help me...that was the good news. because my phone is more than 14 days old, they are sending a "certified" used phone as a replacement, with a pro-rated warranty. they say that if it is my fault the phone doesn't work, i then have to pay them approximately $100.00 more than i paid for my new phone, for the "certified" one they are sending me. my question to them was: what if in handling my returned phone, it gets damaged by one of your people, by say accident. im out a lot of money and can't prove what they did either. i then said, why don't you let me take it to one of your company stores and let them check it out and return it for me. OH NO!!! you can't do that....because i need the phone, i now had to pay them $14.14 for overnight shipping. to be continued...

i purchased the phone from verizon.com, so they had to get the phone back. shipping the old/new phone to me is FREE, if u want to wait, which i did not!!! sending the new/old phone back is free i thought, but the place i went to charged me $2.00 for handling/whatever... now, i would like to ask commonsense101 how do u know what they do in the warehouse at verizon??? r u a verizon employee??? or is this some 2nd/3rd hand information u have obtained???
P.S.: of course when i got home and started to pack up the new/old phone for shipment, i checked it...and low and behold!!! i had sound again!!! i then called the very helpful and courteous verizon technical support person, who said to ship it back, because they r expecting it and why take a chance it will go on the blink again...to be continued...

Yes, you can. You can configure the Side Switch (above the volume button) either as Mute switch or Rotation lock.
Settings > General > Use Side Switch to: choose what you like the Side Switch to function as.

One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...
    /private/var/run/StartupItems
    /Library/StartupItems
    /System/Library/StartupItems
    /System/Library/LaunchDaemons
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
Open Console in Applications>Utilities, check the system log for the date/time of the last problem  & next startup for clues.

  • Convert time from digits to words

    Hi,
Is there a built-in or freely available actionscript function
that would convert time from digits to words. For example, "9:30"
    becomes "half past nine"?
    Thanks!

oops, missed the requirement for numbers as words, added that
    in:
edit: fixed '1 minutes past' changed to '1 minute past'
edit2:clarity with Number type on hour

  • Time Machine eating my internet. Please help!

    Greetings everyone!
Fact: I live in Africa and the internet here is limited and very expensive.
My setup: I have a Airport Extreme (latest generation). My internet is provided by Wimax through a GreenPacket DX-250 router. I have turned the wifi off on that router, and connected it to my Airport through LAN. My Airport is then responsabile for the wireless. To the Airport Extreme I have attached an externet HDD where I am backing up via Time Machine.
My problem: This setup is eating my internet usage. I looked online at the logs, and I see "NAS request" at odd times (2 am, 3 am etc), when I am obviously not uploading 100's of MB or even more. Somehow, Time Machine backups do count with my ISP.
I need your help. Do I have the wrong settings somewhere? What can I do? I would like to keep my Time Machine setup, because it is very convenient through wifi.
    I appreciate your help!

Yes, I meant NAS request. I put it in DHCP+NAT mode in it is working ok. Moreover, last night I left the wimax router on, but disconnected the LAN cable going to the TC, just as you instructed me. This morning I check the logs and there are just a few bytes sent and received, obviously by the server.
What I believe is that the usage logs are kept on the router. Whenever the router is restarted, it connects with the server and updates how much internet I have left. Every night, Every day, after midnight, the server requests those logs automatically also. Last night I disconnected the cable at around 19:21 so no one could've used any internet whatsoever. The logs at 01:59 show 15 kilobytes received and 9 sent.
    Thank you for your help!

  • When i download any thing that time it shows microsoft word logo but not show the picture logo .so what can i do now

when i download any picture with Firefox that time it shows only Microsoft word logo but don't show the picture logo ,thus when i open the download file it only show the Microsoft word file . and i cant see my file. but now what can i do?...

Which file extension do those files get when you save them?
If they do not have a valid file extension for an image like .jpg or .png then try to rename the files and give them a .jpg file extension to see if that helps.<br />
If Windows is hiding the file extension then use quotes ("image.jpg") around the name.<br />
You can verify the file type via the right-click context menu > Properties.

  • What is planning time fense in simple words?

what is planning time fense and demand time fense?

    Hi
This concept is used for master production schedule items . Which are A class and any planning change for these components might affect company adversely .
Now this is provision to lock or restrict the plan from changing .
Depending upon your setting in material master m1, m2 , m3 etc and planning time fence it will firm the planning proposal and any new requirement will be shifted at the end of the planning time fence .
In MD04 you can see the proposals created and shifted at the end of planning time fence . ( depending on your settings )
IN Simple words it is time within which no automatic changes will be made and your MPS planned will be saved .
If satisfied , please reward and close .
    NeaL .

  • Time Machine Eats All Available Space

I have a new iMac 20 inch, using a WD "My Book" 1 TB drive. Setting up time machine, it uses all the drive space until error for "out of space".  I have 300G of space used on the iMac hard drive, and it seems to do the math correctly on how much to back up and how long that will take.  But, after the little bar fills up for the back up it keeps going, counting up the space on the external drive while saying 5 seconds left, and eventually it fills up the drive backing up 300G and writing it out as 980 G.
Any ideas on what causes this behavior?  I've removed all the files from the WD external, and used disk utility to make sure there's no structure problems on the external drive.  Support pages have no information on this - I've gone through the troubleshooting pages already.
(By the way, the new support community seems to encourage cryptic new discussion titles, since the new discussion box seems to be the search box).

This does not seem to be going as expected.  I was expecting some diagnostic information, but only the start messages are found:

I think the problem might be related to how migration assistant copied over programs from my older computer (an iMac G5), which contained a Western Digital utility of some kind that seems to be crashing, if I'm interpreting this right.  Maybe there was some software upgrade I should have done?  But, the drive mounts and I've been able to read and write to it:

  • Time Machine Eating Time Capsule (1TB)

I have two machines being backed up regularly. Each is about 130GB worth of data. For some reason, after the initial backup on one of the iMacs, every time it backs up (on the hour), it backs up around 28GB of supposedly new data which I know I don't have. At this rate, my 1TB TC will be full in a few weeks. What is going wrong here? I was under the impression it would only backup data that was new or modified.
    Thx,

One other thing....the size of my VMWare Virtual Machine is exactly 28GB. I assume this is what is being backed up. I don't modify much on this VM, I just run certain programs I have to have for work. Is there a way to selectively back this up if this turns out to be the problem?

Well, there's your answer. Each time you open your Virtual Machine, the disk image (which is 28GB) gets changed. It doesn't matter how small of a change it is, but the whole disk image will be backed up because it is only seen as one file in OS X. Within VMWare, it's seen as a disk but outside of it it's one file.
You can choose to have Time Machine exclude the file.

  • TB and Windows 8.1 - Time to eat Humble Pie. 'Cos now it works with TB 31.1.1

Ok. I admit it - I goofed. Sort of. And I need to consume a huge slice of Humble Pie.
Having asked a question on the issue of TB not working after my laptop upgraded from Win 8 to Win 8.1, in which I blasted the folks at Mozilla, I have to make an apology - it now works!!
I had repeatedly tried to get a number of versions of TB to work, the last being 31.0 that I downloaded on August 18th (more than once, too), but my e-mails would not load beyond the date of my 8.1 upgrade (May 12 2014).
Tried it again today. No joy. Hence my rant. Then I saw reference to the latest version of TB. So I downloaded 31.1.1, about 30 mins later. Just to give the 'Good ol' Guys and Gals at Moz' another chance. 'Cos I'm a fan, after all. Deep down. It loaded really fast. I typed in my e-mail address and password. And TB set it up automatically. Quickly. Easily. No hassle. Way to go. And then it started to load e-mails of May 12th 2014. S**t, I said, here we go again. Same old, same old. But then the e-mails kept coming. And coming. Right up to date. All 9300 of 'em.
So, I forgive you. Even though it took youz a while to sort it out. With no obvious, clear cut response on the issue. But then, maybe it was a tough nut to crack (it was Windows, after all. You know, from that other lot). And you're all volunteers, right? So, can you forgive me, too?
Hope so - I'm back in the Moz fold (I never succumbed to IE, Foxy through and through).
    Thanks, Guys. And Gals. And......
PS. Can I drop a plug for the Waterfox Project? It uses FireFox as its base, but it runs 64-bit, which Foxy doesn't. And it really is quicker on 64-bit that 32. But they couldn't do it without the 32-bit base. So, keep it up. And try to put Foxy on 64-bit sometime. But then maybe you don't need to, 'cos Waterfox do it for you.

After taking time researching and responding to the first question, i discovered this question which is not a really a question but a further response to your initial question.
Perhaps you should have posted this information in the question you had previously asked so that it has context.
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1020491#answer-629525
When posting questions, please keep all reponses to that question in the same question. Please do not make further responses as if it were a new question because then no one can follow the thread.
Also, it would have saved me from hopping around and answering questions that did not need a response.
Having advised you of this and perhaps sounding like a school mistress, I'm actually rather pleased to hear that all is now ok :)

  • Eating my words

iWeb used to work perfectly for me and I've been posting all over here that I like it. Here's why I'm leaving...
    The problems:
Search - does not work anymore; it used to work but I don’t really know what happened. I even restarted a new blog with the hopes of clearing some search database somewhere... but to no avail.
Uploading - can be finicky. I used to upload the site perfectly ... every. time. Could it be that the many Mac users trying iWeb out is overloading the .mac servers? Come on, Apple! We’re paying for your services!
Others - I’ve read that the commenting system does not work for other iWeb users. Even though mine has been working since I upgraded to 1.1, a broken new feature is still unacceptable.
Switchblog continues where it originally was. iWeb (at least for the blogging component) is not yet ready for primetime. For a few hours, I really thought I would move to iWeb.
    My suggestions:
If you feel you must blog, try out Wordpress (free) or even Rapidweaver or Sandvox (shareware but these last two is what iWeb should be).
I feel I must be back to check out v2.0, but from what I’m experiencing, I’m hesitating to try iWeb again.

Actually I've got a little tired of his sort of post, the writer is not asking for help, not providing any information, and not helping anyone else.
I've got issues publishing like a lot of people, I keep returning to look for any new info into what is going on and end up having to wade through rants such as this.
Please if you don't have a question or some solid advice, don't bother posting.

  • TS1398 Just got an ipad 4generation...I went to join my wifi network.  I tried a few times but the pass word I used didn't work.  I went to try another pass word and now I don't have the "join" option.  I've started over and still no "join" option.

Just got an ipad.  I went to join my wifi network at home.  I tried a few times with a password that I thought was correct but it didn't work.  When I went to try another password it would no longer give me the "join" option.  The "join" option will no longer illuminate.

Thanks!  Actually, by trying another wifi site we have here at home, I was able to give it another try.  For us though, it seems we have an internet problem unrelated to the ipad.  We'll have to figure that out.
