Time Warner Roadrunner Dialer Fix for MAC X 10.5.1 - Leopard Modem

RR Dialer FIX:
There is a fix for dialing up with MAC OS 10.5.1 (Leopard). The Road Runner dialer is not compatible and will not work at all, but
you can use the MAC Networking to configure the Mac dial up capability. Open Network Preferences, select:
Modem...Advanced...PPP... settings-configuration...
check off: send ppp echo & check use tcp header compression under Terminal script ... select Script.TXT.
And then click on connect... this will work ! HTH, NY2LA36
======

Thanks for the your dialer solution. It worked for me after I entered my email address for Account Name. I suspect that not everyone who finds your procedure will realize that they need to make that entry since it isn't the account name.

  • How can I make Time-Warner (Roadrunner) mail come to .mac or ME mailbox?

I've had .Mac for a couple of years to be able to synch 2 computers with iDisc. But now I'd like to use
the .Mac and/or ME address to make mail addressed to either address come to the appropriate boxes in my Inbox section in Apple Mail. (At present all mail comes to my Road Runner (Time Warner) mailbox within my Apple Mail program.)
Looking at the Accounts area of the Preferences section of Apple Mail, the only thing I can imagine I've got wrong is the "Incoming Mail Server." For both MobileMe and .Mac.com I've listed it as "mail.mac.com" (for the Road Runner box it's listed as "pop-server.wi.rr.com"). Any ideas appreciated.
    Cap

I'll refer back to this because Mail is a constant headache, often not functioning or tripling the amount of time due to 3 mailboxes on 3 computers. Haven't come upon a solution. Also, besides Apple Mail, there's my Time Warner Roadrunner account plus the school's account (recently they went from private program to Gmail). I just don't grasp the sub- or super-structure of e-mail, which may be preventing me from gaining coherence and efficiency. I need to discover how to use the KISS principle for stop emailing except off of others' websites.

  • I used Roxio VHS to DVD for Mac (have iMac with Snow Leopard) and the audio does not synch with the video when playing in iMovie.  Any suggestions to fix?

I used Roxio VHS to DVD for Mac (have iMac with Snow Leopard) and the audio does not synch with the video when playing in iMovie.  Any suggestions to fix?

Thanks for the reply.  I tried playing with detaching the audio in iMovie, but with 20+ hours of video to correct, it would take too long.  After 28 hours, Corel/Roxio tech support replied that it is a known bitrate mismatch problem and they have no real fix.  I strongly suggest not to buy this product.

  • Fix for Mac version

    Hi,
I saw a fix for a problem I'm having but it is only for PC and I'm on a Mac.
This is the post - http://forums.adobe.com/message/4007591
Can someone point me in the direction of the fix for Mac please?
    Thanks,
    JK

Sounds like it's a problem with the Acrobat settings. Did you set them to the same resolution?

  • What is the best video converter (asf into AVI) for mac ox 10.5.8 leopard ppc?

Friends can you tell me what is the best video converter (asf into AVI) for mac ox 10.5.8 leopard ppc?
    Thanks

Hi Mazdauk, To convert ASF to AVI, I recommend you the iorgsoft video converter which I have been using. It claims to support ASF as input and AVI as output. Anyway, I haven't converted ASF to AVI, most of the time, I convert MTS to MP4. You can have a try first.

Beginning with Firefox 4, Macs must have an Intel x86 processor (which you do NOT have; yours is a PPC Mac) '''''<u>and</u>''''' OSX 10.5 or higher

  • AirPort Extreme and Time Warner RoadRunner Service Issue

I have Time Warner's RoadRunner Turbo Internet service, which promises a minimum bitrate of 15 Mbps for downloads and 1 Mbps for uploads. Recently, my measured throughput has crashed on uploads, to well below 100 Kbps (0.01 Mbps) while going through my AirPort Extreme over 100/1000Base-T cable (system 7.4.2). When I directly connect my Mac to the cable modem, I get a consistent 28 Mbps down and 1.7 Mbps up and a ping time of 20 ms. I've tried cycling power, soft resetting, and even hard resetting to factory settings, but nothing seems to fix this throughput issue. I'm going to try a cheap 3rd party router (D-Link or Linksys) to see if I can get my throughput back up, but is there something I'm missing on my setup? I have opened SSH, IMAP and Apple Remote Desktop through the AirPort Extreme, and have enabled Bonjour on it. I can't figure out why this change has happened so suddenly.

power down the network and the modem. connect modem to the extreme wan port. connect pc to ethernet lan port. power modem up first then the router. use Airport Utility to configure your network.

  • Backup fail on Time Machine and My Passport for Mac on Yosemite

Cannot seem to get Time Machine to do a full backup of my NEW My Passport for Mac.
    I've:
    - Updated firmware on WD external drive (and formatted correctly for Apple)
    - Updated to latest IOS 10.10.3 (Yosemite)
    - Verified and repaired Mac HD via iOS Disk Utility and the WD Drive Utility (no issues found on either)
Error message continues to be "Time Machine couldn't complete the backup to My Passport for Mac. An error occurred while copying files. The problem may be temporary. If the problem persists, use Disk Utility to repair your backup disk."
I'm backing up about 250 GB and have done this numerous times on my Passport for Mac. Everything SEEMS to be fine during backup, until after about 2-3 hours, into a 4-hour backup, the error message appears without any error codes.
Does anyone have any input?  I don't think it is on the WD side.  Anyone know if there an issue with Time Machine and this external drive?  Help!
    Thanks,
    Dave

  • Bug fix for Mac book wireless - problem solved!

Aparantly there is a rather large number of folks out there who've discovered this dillema with wireless not working very well at this point on the Macbook.
Well, I can attest there is one very good solution out there for this issue. This application called Sonar Theater from www.sunray.tv includes a bug fix for the wireless connection issues with Macbook in their latest 1.5 release of Sonar Theater.
I downloaded it, put it into my start up folder and waalaa! problem solved. I've haven't any more issues with dropped wireless since - it's been running constantly for over 2 weeks now.
I haven't even attempted to touch my router configuration - don't need to.

Welcome to the better life of Macs. I am using Sonar Theater too and it's been working very well for me. In fact, I'm getting hooked on just texting a message to my Mac book to fire up user sessions now. I think if you give the Mac Book some time however, you'll find that there really is no comparison to PC's. Your life overall is going to just keep getting better as you dig in to the resources available to new Mac users.
I'm sure it seems confusing to PC users at first, but here's how to set up any application as part of your startup sequence. It really is extremely easy and simple compared to the PC world. Oh and by the way, in reality, Mac users refer to this as your login sequence. So, at login time, you can do a multitude of different things for each user account you might want to set up. Naturally, you can choose to share or not share applications and data between these user accounts on your Mac too....
Mac OS X 10.3 or later
    1. Log in as the user who wishes to have a login item or as an admin user.
    2. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
    3. Choose Accounts from the View menu.
    4. Click the name of the user.
    5. Click the Startup Items button
    6. Click the "Add {+}" button.
The item you selected will automatically open the next time you log in.
there are several ways to get good info from the apple community on tips and tricks as well. you should just try the apple os x web site...here,

Just signed up for cable internet with Time-Warner in NYC. It's your standard cable modem with an ethernet cable. I can plug in and everything works (connection, Mail, Safari, etc etc).
When plugging said ethernet cable into my Airport express, however, the signal is strong as can be but the light stays yellow.
Internet connect says I'm connected to the internet via airport but the airport seems to disagree.
I'm set up in the airport admin util to connect via ethernet and DHCP (like the TW folks told me too). They say I don't need to fill anything else in and it should work....
I was on the phone with the Applecare folks for 45 minutes yesterday trying every combo of restarts that we could think of before I had to go to work....
Anyone have any other suggestions? The cable guy checked the aiport and ethernet boxes in the network prefs but that's the only thing that changed on my computer. And I've changed it back and forth to see if THAT was the problem.
The other interesting thing is that when I plug the ethernet in directly from the modem and have airport card on, it doesn't work. The ethernet cable direct works when the airport is off.... or is that irrelevant??

You can't run both connections at once, i.e., ask the computer to access wirelessly and wired.
My experience at a friends home (also roadrunner but not NYC) indicates that the TW folks were right. One thing they didn't tell you that they told us at the time was to unplug both the modem and the wap (the power cords only), wait 1 minute, plug the modem back in and then the wap. When I set mine up I spent an inordinate amount of time configuring everything manually and was a little chagrined when his connection came right up.

  • Is there a fix for MAC Pro with Dual video cards that randomly logs off and on?

From my readings on the Internet this seems to be a know problem.  That even furthers my frustrations with the latest OS X upgrades.  So far on both my MACBOOK PRO and my MAC PRO it has been a major downgrade as both systems are no longer stable.  Enough with my complaints...
Is there any plan to address this problem with the MAC PRO?  I can't believe 10.8.1 didn't fix it.  More can be read on it at:
    http://jvm-technology.blogspot.com/2012/08/mac-pro-users-experiencing-random-log .html
Does anyone have work around to use dual screen monitors with the system?  I have two video cards, the article says to remove one.  Has this worked for anyone?  Can I use dual screens with the one video card.  Before I go messing around with these type of things I just want to be sure that this is a real fix.  For the price of the cards and the system I really can't believe apple has this issue in the first place and has not fixed it.

Self-hosted add-ons have to be fixed for every new version of Firefox. Two to 6 months for updating an add-on is ridiculous for a program which has a new version release every '''6 weeks'''. If that extension was hosted at the official Add-ons website, Mozilla would take take care of "bumping" that extension, as long as it keeps working, for every new version of Firefox, as the new version is released.
See this thread from yesterday, I posted instructions about how to "bump" that extension for Firefox 7.<br />
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/884484
You can also use this extension to "bump" an already installed extension for compatibility with the currently installed version of Firefox. <br />

  • Does Time Machine backup my Office for Mac Email and Calendar?

I am using Microsoft Office for Mac for my business.  I utilize the Email and the Calendar.
Time Machine periodically backs up my PC to an external hard drive.  Does it also back up my Email and My Office Calendar?
and how do I get it back if my internal hard drive crashes?

    Yes, it does.

after setting up email settings..............received some emails.....once in awhile..........and now nothing...Never worked right

If you are accessing your Time Warner POP account with Outlook on your PC, is Outlook launched and running actively checking the account for new messages and downloading new messages received at the incoming mail server while your iPhone was or is doing the same?

  • Is there a Flashback protection/fix for Mac OS X 10.5.8's vulnerable Java?

    Hello.
I read the recent Flashback trojan with Apple's Java. I have a client who is still running Mac OS X 10.5.8 and noticed Apple released an updated Java for Mac OS X 10.6. I assume there is none for unsupported 10.5.8.  Is there a way to remove its Java or protect it without upgrading the OS?
    Thank you in advance.

A version of an existing Trojan Horse posing as a legitimate Flash Player installer (named “Flashback.A” by a security firm) is designed to disable updates to the default Mac OS X anti-malware protection system, potentially leaving the system open to the manual installation of other malware without any system warnings. The latest Macs do not have Plash Player included. In order to prevent a potential infection with “Flashback” Trojans, Mac users should always obtain their copy of Adobe Flash Player directly from Adobe’s official website and to disable the "Open 'safe' files after downloading" option in Apple's Safari browser to avoid automatically running files downloaded from the Internet. Also, do not turn on Java in Safari Preferences/Security. Few websites use Java.
Javascript is something entirely different and should be left active.

  • Capture Fix for Mac OS X ( Does Your Recording Stop at Every Bad Video Frame? )

I may have found a solution to the continuous problem whereas PP "Capture" stops at every bad frame while recording from a Firewire camera or external Firewire Video Capture Device.
Try "Vidi" Search Google ( for Mac OS X ) http://mitzpettel.com/ Source Code: https://github.com/mitzpettel/Vidi
    It solved my problem.
It was written for the Formac device .. but may work with others.
Quicktime and Adobe has had this problem for years.
I thought it was software related .. and it was.
Test it out. High quality. Audio options too.

I would have thought you just uncheck the box that says "Abort capture on dropped frames".
