Time Warner's Road Runner comes up on Firefox icon on my Mac

Suddenly when I click onto Firefox, Time Warner's RoadRunner is the opening page. I have a macbook (old now) and have never had this problem before.

  • Does Time Capsule and Time Warner Cable Road Runner work together?

I have Time Warner Cable Road Runner internet serve. I am currently using a Linksys WRT54G WiFi router to use my internet with my MacBook Pro. I am thinking about replacing my Linksys with a Time Capsule. Will the Time Capsule work with TWC Road Runner? I have looked all over with google and have not found an answer. I heard that you can't clone the MAC address of the Road Runner modem. To get my Linksys to work I had to clone the MAC address. Is this true?

I use time warner road runner ripoff and also have it hooked to my vonage router,a linksys with 2 telephone ports and 4 additional ports one of which is given to the TC, another to slingback and another to xbox and finnally he network printer.
The Linksys router , I believe is the main router and the TC is added on as a secondary router ad you choose this during set up, it can either be visible or invisible extending your present wireless setup.
After much tinkering I managed to get it working on the network, the TC that is seen by both my MacPro's and my OQO UMPC that is running Vista. I also hooked the TC up to a USB hub, another linksys, and attached a 1.5 GB Maxtor external drive. I plan to add another so I will have a total of 4 GB of storage.
The main problems I have encountered is my Mac pro seeing the configuration after going to sleep, seems to take a really long time and sometimes I have to restart the TC.
So far all I can say is it IS NOT as easy as Apple would like us to think it is. A lot of tinkering, and you should have a tad of knowledge of what your doing or your going to screw it up. Patience helps as well.
    cheers.

  • Airport with Time Warner Cable Road Runner

We have Time Warner Cable's Road Runner as our isp. They gave us a wireless router, which has been working fine. However, we have 2 floors in our house, and occasionally my computer, that is on the floor above the router, drops the signal. I do have the Airport Extreme, which someone told me I can connect to my computer to help boost the signal. Is this correct, and if so, how do I do that? Because when I try connecting my computer via ethernet cable to the Extreme, it pulls up the old network I use to have the Extreme assigned to. How can I resest the Extreme to work with the Road Runner router account? And is this even how it is done?

In order to extend the Time Warner-provided router's network wirelessly, you will need to set up a Wireless Distribution System (WDS) between that router and the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS).
Unfortunately, most non-AirPort routers are not compatible with Apple's implementation of WDS...so it very unlikely that the router Time Warner has provided you can be extended wirelessly with the AEBS.
The few that are known to work are:
    o Linksys WRT54G or WRT54GS (not v5)
    o Belkin F5D7230-4 and F5D7231
    o BT Voyager 2091
    o Netgear WGR614 v6
    o Buffalo WGR-G54

  • Time Warner Cable Road Runner With Turbo + Linksys WRT160N Router

    Guys & Ladies,
I'm having a problem either with road runner turbo cable internet or my wrt160n router, I had two different technicians from time warner to check out the problem why my internet connection is very slow they say everything is fine on they're end of the signal.. They figure it's the router causeing the problem due to the fact it drops the signal speed 15% the technician claim when he was looking at the problem.  Here's how I got the network setup: Network mode is selected on mixed channel width is selected on 20mhz and channel is 10...wireless security security mode is WPA2 Personal encryption is AES. The advance wireless settings are these selections...frame burst disabled basic rate is disable...The technician did say the ethernet cable might be going bad? If so what should I buy? how many feet? like 12ft to 18ft?
Anything I can do to make it faster? I tried speaking with Linksys tech support they wouldn't talk to me unless I paid them $15 dollars?
Message Edited by RaveAffection on 09-24-2009 01:44 PM

As for right now earlier it gave me slow speeds on the wireless side while the wired connection worked awesome.  The wireless speeds are around 8.92 mbps download 0.95 upload at speedtest.net the level 2 linksys technician claims my wireless speeds should be higher than that? Since it's Road Runner Turbo with speedbooster.
Here's what the level 2 linksys technician told me to do when he had me on the phone earlier, he told me to change the security mode to WPA Personal instead of having WPA Personal 2 selected and change security mode password, network mode to wireless g and set the channel to 10.. Then he asked hows the signal? I said from 10 feet away from the router my intel pro wireless connection shows full strength and excellent signal and right now still shows full stregth and excellent signal.  He said watch over it tonight if anymore problems call back or talk to linksys chat support
Should I have the transmission rate set on 54G or Auto under the advanced router settings and what about basic rate?
I don't know what else to do to fix the problems.

  • Time/Warner cable home page comes up as "blue Screen"

I am a subscriber to Time/Warner cable. Recently they made changes that required additional software to view their home page. Specifically Adobe Acrobat reader. I downloaded Acrobat reader 5.0 and installed it. Still blue screen. After talking to tech support at Time Warner they said they couldn't help me and I should contact Apple. If any one has an answer to theis problem I would greatly appreciate your support.
My earlier Post was solved within an hour. Thanks!
    Many thanks

  • Firefox icon appears on mac desktop every time app starts

every time i use firefox on my mac, a firefox drive icon appears on the desktop. I have installed the program properly and a firefox icon is in the apps folder as well as in the dock. Yet, each time I am finished using it, I have to quit the program and then "eject" the icon from the desktop to get rid of it. How can I prevent this icon from appearing every time I open firefox? (I have tried uninstalling and re-installing to no avail)
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I installed firefox on macbook pro, with the latest Mac OS ==
    == User Agent ==
    Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_6_3; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.22.7 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Safari/531.22.7

Make sure that Firefox gets installed properly.
Open the DMG file and drag to Firefox program to the application folder on your hard drive.
You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the disk image, but drag it out of the DMG folder instead.

  • First time ever, a Norton screen pops-up with Firefox 3.6.28, Mac OS 10.5.8 saying an E-bay listing site is fraudulent, what???

Norton Confidential for Macintosh pops up with this:
    "WEBSITE BLOCKED
    http://tags.bluekai.com/site/50?ret=html&limit=4&btp=1&phint=...
    Learn more about phishing
This site is a known fraudulent site. Accessing this site could make you
    vulnerable to criminal activity."
My wife like to use Firefox when she goes to E-bay. This has never happened before and I think it has to do with the fact that Firefox will not let us update Firefox's plug-ins, etc. since we have a pre-Intel Mac.
Can you help us with this?

Well, another possibility is that Norton has found some element in the page, whether it's a picture or something else inserted by the seller, that is hosted on a server known to distribute malware. Do you want to post a link to the auction and others can see whether they get a similar message?

  • Verizon Internet OUT, Time Warner IN...now what ?

Verizon has not provided me consistent reliable service in the past 3 months. So I am making the jump to Time Warner Cable Road Runner Internet service.
Simply, what changes do I need to do with the Mac OS X Server settings on my end to make the transition smooth ? (pointer records changed, MX records, Forwarders updated, named.conf updated) ?
Just wondering so I don't fall into a surprise.
    THANKS !

hello, when you are using speedtest.net or a similar flash-based site to measure your connection speed, it might be an issue with the protected mode that [http://blogs.adobe.com/asset/2012/06/inside-flash-player-protected-mode-for-firefox.html adobe has introduced] for its flash plugin for firefox. some old versions of f-secure or trusteer rapport are known to cause such slowdowns together with flash, or it might be something similar on your system that is interfering (maybe security software that is blocking/sandboxing the container used for the protected mode, etc...).
as a workaround you could try [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-crashes#w_solution-2-downgrade-to-flash-10-3 downgrading to flash 10.3] (which is still supported) or [http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071#TemporaryWorkaround disabling protected mode] & see if this makes a difference.

  • No Ethernet Connection with Road Runner

    Hi Everybody,
I have a bizarre problem. I just moved into a new apartment that is connected via Time Warner's Road Runner. Currently, we only have an ethernet connection via the Time Warner Router.
My MacBook (Model2,1 with 2GHz Intel and 10.5.5) connects easily with the ethernet. Open Safari and go! no problem at all.
However, the MacBook of my wife (Model3,1 with 2GHz Intel and 10.5.5) does NOT connect via the ethernet cable. I tried everything from new starts to entering IPs that my other MacBook got. There is no connection to the internet.
Any ideas why this could happen?
    All the Best, Crobus

Are you using a router? If so what make and model? What cable modem do you have? Have you done the following:
Turn off everything including cable modem, router (if any), and the computers. Wait at least one minute. Then turn on the cable modem. Wait until the status lights show connection to the ISP. Then turn on the router. Wait until its status light shows connection with the cable modem. Last turn on the computers. Be sure you have Network preferences properly configured.
If the other computer still fails to get a connection then try deleting the following files from the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ folder:
    com.apple.airport.preferences.plist (if it exists)
    com.apple.network.identification.plist
    preferences.plist
Then restart the computer. You will have to re-configure the Network preferences.

  • Time Warner Cable Chat Live Problem- no JRE Plugin

When I go to the TWC support site and try their Chat Live, I get an error dialog box in the Safari window. It says I need the JRE Plugin, which is N/A to the iPad's Safari. They are blaming Apple's Java on mobile Safari. Does anyone know what the story is? Is there a shortcoming in iOS Safari, or can the problem be with the design of their website?
    Here's what they sent me:
Thank you for contacting Time Warner Cable, Road Runner email Support.
I understand that you are unable to access RR Chat support tool using your iPad2 device with updated OS and Safari browser.
I apologize for the inconvenience caused.
I will be glad to assist you with this.
As per the error message you have mentioned, it seems that the issue is with Java application error on the iPad device.
In this regard, please update the Java application installed on your iPad device and try to contact our Chat support again.
If you are still unable to access the Chat support, I request you please contact Apple support for further assistance, as they will be able to resolve the issue for you.
Here is the Apple support contact information for reference: (800) 275-2273.
You can also visit this URL link for support: http://apple.com/support
I hope your issue gets resolved as early as possible.
Your case number for this e-mail interaction is 1345062.
If you have any other queries, you can also contact our Chat or Voice support for Live assistance.
Contacting us through chat or voice support will enable an agent to thoroughly look into your issue and offer necessary steps to resolve the issue.

I sent this reply to the TWC support email (above):
The answer you sent me is not correct. You asked me to update the Java application on my iPad.  iPads and iPhones do not use Java.
Since you have a LOT, repeat a LOT of customers that use Apple's devices, I'm making a suggestion, that you think seriously about upgrading your support site Chat Live function so that it supports iOS devices.
    Or
Ad a Chat Live interface to your myTWC app for the iPad and iPhone.
You need to get really serious about making all of your sites iOS friendly as people are migrating from computers to tablets, and the iPad is the only game in town-at least for now.

  • Time Warner Cable Blue Screen Issue

Some time ago Time Warner cable (Road Runner) upgraded their system. They now require Flash Player to access their pages. For the past three days I have worked on and off with Level 2 Road Runner Techs to get my Mac to acess their web page.
Up to that time I only got a "Blue Screen"!
Here are my particulars: OS 9.2.2, Flash Player 7.2 installed, IE version 5.1, Adobe Reader installed, Cookies erased, History cleared from IE Preferences advanced,
To get access to their web page I should type in www.dc.rr.com/flash/
    I get blue screen.
If I type in www.rr.dc.com/rdrun/ I get a Road Runner "sell" page with no link to their "Home Page"
My last go around with Road Runner Techs was fatal as they said I should contact Microsoft.
Microsoft no longer supports telephone supprot for Macintosh. If you go to their web page they want $35.00 for online access to their techs with no guarantee they can solve the problem.
Does anyone have any knowledge as to how to solve this problem so I can access the Home page of the provider I pay handsomly monthly?
Thank you for any assistance you can give me.
    John

    When I type in www.dc.rr.com/flash/ I get this;
    The page cannot be found
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
    Please try the following:
    • If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.
    • Open the www.dc.rr.com home page, and then look for links to the information you want.
    • Click the Back button to try another link.
HTTP 404 - File not found
    Internet Information Services
    Technical Information (for support personnel)
    • More information:
    Microsoft Support
This means that there is a problem with the web page and not necessarily with your computer. Just typing www.dc.rr.com without slash anything gives me their home page.

  • Why am I getting Time Warner instead of Firefox after I downloaded Firefox?

I downloaded the latest Mozilla Firefox yesterday, and after several tries to use it, I'm getting Time Warner website. The only part of Firefox I can see on the monitor is at the top right corner and it's part of a ribbon across the top and includes Yahoo and Google. Perhaps this is the correct information I should have received but I expected a stand-alone Firefox website from which to work.
Did it not download properly, or is this what I should have and just haven't discovered how to use it, or maybe is this an error? I have Windows 7, 64 bit, a wireless setup, haven't installed anything else lately and I seriously would like to enable Firefox because I read good things about it.

Do this happen when you try to go to a website and it redirects you to Time Warner's site or is it something different? I have TWC and it redirects me every time I enter a non-valid URL.
Can you give me a screenshot so I know what you're seeing? Please see [[How do I create a screenshot of my problem?]] to create a screenshot<br>
Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the '''Browse...''' button below the ''Post your reply'' box. This will help us to visualize the problem.

  • I have downloaded firefox three times but nothing happens. No prompt to drag icon to bar. I have a mac

I have downloaded firefox three times. There is no prompt to drag firefox icon from application?? to my bar on my Mac. Have I successfully downloaded firefox? It appears I have not done so. Help

This is the Firefox Start Page that was used in Firefox 3.6 and prior versions. <br />
    http://www.google.com/firefox
The '''about:home''' default homepage looks a lot like that older default homepage, but it is missing the Google menu items at the top left-side of the web page, along with the '''''Sign In''''' hyperlink for signing into Google services and the '''''Options''''' "gear button" for setting Google search preferences.
If you want the orange Firefox button to show, instead of the Menu Bar showing, you need to hide the Menu Bar by right-clicking a blank spot on the Menu Bar and de-selecting the Menu Bar by clicking on Menu Bar in that contextual menu.

  • My firefox custom page does not come up when i click the firefox icon w/mac

For the last 3 days when I click the firefox icon on my mac i get the plain igoogle page. My custom page does not automatically come up as befoe. Then I have to reset the i google password everytime then get to my page

Ok, lets do a couple of steps here first:
To make sure your windows isn't corrupted because of the power outage, let's run chkdsk.
Click on My Computer, then right click your C: Drive (if you have other hard drives, you will want to run this on them as well). Then, click Properties. Inside that window, go to the Tools tab. Inside that tab, open up the "Check Now" button. That will open a smaller window. Select the checkbox to "Automatically fix file system errors", then hit Start. You will probably receive an error asking if you want to schedule the disk check, click Yes, then restart your computer.
Read [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265] for more information.
After running the chkdsk, then please go to [http://www.getfirefox.com www.getfirefox.com], and download a fresh version of Firefox. I'm assuming you are using Internet Explorer to download Firefox. Instead of hitting Run, let's try hitting save. Remember where it saves the installer file on your computer.
After the download has finished, double-click and run the Firefox install. Once it is finished, try to start Firefox up. Let me know how it goes!

  • Using time warner road runner. when I try to open up safari to home page I get error message that this version does not support the "community toolbar" can't proceed until closing the error message. sick of seeing it

using time warner road runner. when I try to open up safari to home page I get error message that this version does not support the "community toolbar" can't proceed until closing the error message. sick of seeing it

That toolbar/ct plugin seems to cause problems for all who install it!
Close Safari, then locate and delete the following files and it should be gone:
    /Library/Application Support/Conduit
    /Library/InputManagers/CTLoader
    /Library/Receipts/ctloader.pkg
    /Library/Receipts/<Toolbar name>.pkg
    /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/CT2285220.bundle
    /Users/<User name>/Library/Application Support/Conduit
where / is the root library on your Hard Disk.
If you are running Snow Leopard you should also look here:
    Library/launchAgents/com.conduit.loader.agent.plist
    Library/Application support/conduit plugins
    Also, as mentioned by Gilli2000:
Library/Receipts - If you read it, it has information in it at the bottom referring extensively to "CT" and "community toolbar".
Maybe it is harmless, but trash those items anyway!
Note: Safari does not support any third-party toolbars except those supplied as an extension to Safari via the Extension Gallery.
