Time warp problems

Alright... here we go.
I have I tunes at work on a similar computer as my PC at home, with similar processor speed and RAM. When I import a CD on the PC at work, after the first song has been imported, it starts to play....and everything works fine.
On the PC at my house, I import a CD, and when the song starts to play, it's in S L O W M O T I O N.
I don't get it. The work PC has about a 1.8 gig processor, and 512 MB RAM, using Windows XP Pro......Home, was a 2.1GB processor (AMD Sempron), with 256 MB RAM, then I added another 512mb thinking THAT would solve the problem. Still the EXACT same thing.
I've attempted to adjust the allocation for RAM, but I really don't know what I'm doing (THAT is obvious, right?). I did tweak it a bit...using Windows reccomended guidelines, but that did NOTHING. One thing that may be an issue is that at home I'm using Windows XP HOME edition, instead of "XP PRO".
Anyone have any ideas???
Oh, BTW, the playback is perfect when i am not attempting to import, and I have onboard sound on both PC's, not a cool sound card. (Maybe this would be a solution?)
Compac Presario   Windows XP

Well, let's start here:
iTunes for Windows: Songs and other audio don't sound right
The Compaq site is the place to check for new sound drivers (even if the sound is an on-board chip rather than a sound card). Even if they're similar machines, differences in drivers / OS configuration, can make a big difference.

  • Cs4: Time warp effect - black playback problem

    I use premiere cs4. When i drag clip into time line (1440 25i mpeg transcoded from avchd 1080 50i) onto time line and apply time warp effect and after rendering clip is black during playback, simply nothing in it just black picture with the same duration as original footage.

    2 gb ram ddr
    nvidia geforce 8400m gs 128mb cuda drivers installed. ( do premiere cs4 use cuda drivers?)
    vista 32 bit
    what 's wrong? what to do?
    please

    Hi!
    No, the first frame is not black.. The screenshots where just examples and I tried to adjust the settings, because the first time I tried the timewarp it worked, but the next clip I wanted to warp just got black.. and I tried alot of times to figur out if I adjusted some of the settings..  ( I hope you mean the method and adjust time).
    Those comes adjusted in pixel motion and Speed and thats what I have them on now.. Should I adjust it to something else?

  • Has anyone seen this BUG with Time Warp and Dissolve?

    I'm doing some real basic slow-mo clips, transitioning with various dissolve wipes. I've come across a problem that is extreemly frustrating! I'm wondering if anyone has insight on a fix or if Adobe does service packs or fixes that I might be able to install.
    If you put two clips adjacent to each other on a timeline, apply time warp, set percentage to say 30% of realtime, then apply a dissolve between the clips, clip B, the outclip will play in reverse for a period equal to about 1/3 of the duration of the clip.
    This is true scrubbing through the timeline and even rendering.
    VERY ANNOYING!
    I'm going to call support tomorrow, but that's not going to help me get my project finished any sooner since this is a critical element in this composition. I've tried the time remapping method, but the frame-blend is no match for the pixel motion of time warp.

    Steve,
    I think your post #11 was being sarcastic, but you left a little wiggle room for it not to be. With the sarcastic interpretation, I must add my thoughts:
    Here is the link to the Adobe bug report form
    . It is important that users who discover bugs with reproducible steps file them - otherwise they don't stand a chance of ever getting fixed. Steven Gotz's advice was sound in this regard.
    As to the discussion of workarounds - since this is a User-to-User forum, the best that we as a community can do is help each other out with workarounds, since none of us here have the power to actually fix anything.
    The important thing to glean from SG's post is the definite need to file a bug report.

  • 30Boxes weird time warp makes calendars impossible to update

    I can't find anyplace else to ask this question, and I think that there are some iCal users here who use 30Boxes for its superior printing capabilities, so I hope somebody here has figured this out!
    A school has a web site that has a couple of google calendars embedded in it for an Activities calendar and a Lunch Menu calendar.  Works great as a web page, on lots of devices, and lots of folks have it included in their iCals.  And the school prints hardcopies of the calendars out each month and posts them on the bulletin boards, and sends them home with the kids.  The only problem is that iCal and GoogleCalendar both produce pathetic excuses for printed-out calendars -- they only show the first couple of characters of each event, leaving a big empty square underneath.
    Someone here pointed me in the direction of 30 Boxes, and it is a fabulous solution.  Google calendars and iCal calendars can simply be imported in, and printed with this program.  The code fills up each day's boxes in a totally reasonable way for the printed output, giving a nice useful hardcopy tool.  The way that you get the 30Boxes calendar to sync with the main at google is that on the page where you link in the google/iCal calendar there is a spot which tells you when it was last updated, and right next to it there is a little link that says "Update Now" and when you click on it then it fetches the latest data.
    Until a couple of months ago when we started having this bizarre problem!  Periodically we would go in to update the 30Boxes data, and the "Last updated" time has negative time.  And the Update Now link is just missing.  The time marches up towards zero -- so it says "Updated -4 hrs 28 mins ago" and then 15 minutes later it says "Updated -4 hrs 13 mins ago"  After an excruciating wait for the time to go positive, the "Update now" link appears and the calendar can be updated.  Unfortunately, the timing is usually such that the kids have gone home without their printed-out calendars by the time it allows an update.
    Also, the event times will sometimes show up off by an hour during this "time warp" period.
    It seems to be some sort of time zone problem, as when it happens it's usually either -5 or -6 hours at the beginning, and our time zone is 6 hours before GMT during standard time and 5 hours in Daylight Savings Time.
    Has anyone figured out how to get themselves out of a 30Boxes time warp without just waiting it out?

    What version of Windows are you on (XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 )? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

    What is the version of Internet Explorer installed on your computer?
    In Internet Explorer go to Help -> About Internet Explorer.

  • After Effects Time Warp and reverse

    Hi there;
    I am a university student and stuck with a project, I normally use photoshop but I am working with short videos in after effects, what I am wanting to do is quite simple, but I am stuck with it.
    I have some short clips (30-60 seconds) which I need to reduce in speed to roughly 1/4 - 1/16 speed. They were shot at 60fps, but I need the actually image frames so I cannot play back the footage slower. I also need to reverse the footage. This is what I am doing;
    Import movie;
    interpret footage;
         Loop;
         4.
    New comp from footage;
    Time Warp;
         Speed;
              25%
    Which turns a 30 second clip into 2 minutes and adds lots of useful frames.
    However, I need it to play backwards too, so I hit CTRL, ALT, R (Time reverse layer) and all the footage turns into a single stuck frame!
    So I undo that and set time warp speed to -25% - same problem, what is going on? How can I both reverse the footage, AND timewarp it?
    I have very little experience in AE, I am normally a photographer
    Also, is there a way to export EVERY SINGLE FRAME as .png or targa? Technician has told me that this is "impossible" but then a friend has said that it is possible to export Tiffs from some software? I know that 2 mins at 60fps 720p will be roughly 20Gb of files - just trying to save a software step?

    Pre-compose before you reverse.
    Setup the render cue and output module to output an image sequence. This is basic rendering knowledge covered in the help files.

  • Desktop stuck in GroundHog Day time warp

    After installing Adobe Photoshop CS2, the Desktop redraws every 70 to 85 seconds and reverts to same original state with Finder pulled to top display level.
    I have tried deleting PS CS2 and re-installing -- no change. I've tried re-installing OS X Upgrade Combo 10.4.11 ---no change. I don't know what to do except an archive and re-install OS X 10.4 and then apply the Combo upgrade again. Does anyone know what is causing this Groundhog Day time warp? Is there some easy way to fix it?
    I read the topic on "Folders automatically closing" and tried Drew Reese's suggestion to turn off Suffit AVR and that did the trick. Apparently, I did the PS install right after updating QuickTime.
    Thanks, I've had this headache for almost two weeks.

    No Problem, someone else fixed it, I'm just connecting the dots

  • Doing the Time Warp

    I haven't had any problems with my iPhone until I traveled to Canada this weekend. Twice while up there the time warped ahead by 1 hour. I looked like a total dork lined up waiting impatiently for the doors at the theatre to open an hour yearly. The doors were to open at 7pm, and my time on the phone showed 7pm. I check numerous times, 7:10, 7:15, 7:30, 7:45, 6:50... Huh.. 6:50? Sure enough it really was 6:50. I checked my wife's phone (RAZR) it was correct, 6:50. At first we both thought we had gone crazy and brushed it off as being a bit drunk. Later that night I checked my phone and it said midnight, but the clock at the casino (what, a clock at a casino, I was shocked too) said 11pm. My wife's phone said 11pm as well. It wasn't until about 9am the next morning that my time was correct again. Since I have been back in the States it has been fine.
    Has anyone else experienced this while traveling internationally, if you can call Canada international traveling.

    It may not be a problem with the phone. When I travel (pre-iPhone, both US and abroad), I have seen some local networks broadcasting the wrong timezone. My guess in each case was that I was hitting a network with coverage that crossed timezones, and was getting the neighboring timezone. If it got to be a problem, I would turn off the "get time from local network" option, and set the timezone manually on the phone until I landed someplace where the timezone was OK.
    You might want to turn off the "Set Automatically" option in Settings->General->Date and Time until you return home.

  • More weirdness from the CS3 time warp

    I've applied the Time Warp effect at 50% to several adjacent clips in a timeline which works fine in all of them save two. In those clips the motion is jerky because if you scroll slowly ahead it plays a frame, then goes backward a bit, then what appears to be a full frame ahead, then back a bit. This repeats for the duration of the clip.
    I tried copying the effect from a good sequence and applying it to the faulty one, thinking I may have an errant parameter in the bad one somewhere. No soap. It's still wrong. So I import the footage that has the problem into a new project and apply the time warp effect. No problem.
    Back to the original project. I check the field dominance... not modified, and I check "Speed/Duration" which is set to 100% as it should be. Completely befuddled, I delete the Time Warp from the two offending clips, change the Speed to 50% and re-trim. It's all good.
    What really confuses me is why this happened. Has anyone else seen this? If so, is there a way to fix it, or is it just another Time Warp bug? (I've already found one.)
    System is:
    3.0 GHz Dual Core Athlon
    3 GB RAM
    Windows Vista
    HW and SW up to date
    I don't mean for this to sound like a rant on the TW, but I'm trying to find out if others have seen this or if it's only my own ineptitude. If I were a betting man I'd put money on the latter.
    Thanks.

    Yeah I've seen it and what I do is get out of the program and then re-open it and it seems to correct itself. It has been an infrequent problem.

  • Unusual Time Warp issue in CS4 (4.1.0)

    Two problems I am having:
    1. When I add time warp to my clip or nested sequence, the preview clip suddenly appears to be scaled larger if the clip is sitting within a higher resolution sequence.  The transformation is not dissimilar to having the "scale to frame size" option checked.  The actual speed based time warp effect appears to work fine, so I can workaround this by simply applying this to the clip within a sequence that matches its resolution
    2. Motion blur is not working at all...the default settings manual  shutter control (shutter angle: 180, samples 5, pixel motion enabled) produces no blurring.  I have processed this same file in After Effects CS4 and it works beautifully, but I wanted to try applying the effect directly to edited clips so that the blur effect does not span cuts as it does when I apply it to the entire file
    Any ideas?

    Purely a gues here, but 1 may be working as designed.
    I have not used the Motion Blur effect yet.

  • Time Warp issue CS4

    I noticed that whenever applying the Time Warp effect to an MPEG clip, the clip goes black and becomes unusable. Tried this in old as well as new projects.
    However when applying Timewarp in AE, to the same clips, the effect is fine...
    Has anyone experienced this?

    I experienced same "black video" bug with time related plugins liks "Sapphire FreezeFrame"...I think this bug is a result of plugins way of getting frames form original video for processing.
    And here's a quick solution, till an update for Premiere Pro CS4 will be released:
    b Right Click on the clip (at the timeline) that you want to apply your time based effect. And choose "Nest" from opened Right Click Menu... So you will have a nested sequence with your clip. Now you can apply your time based effect (timewarp, twixtor, freeze frame e.t.c.) to this nested sequence.
    It works for me without any problem. I hope it will work for you too, tomst and DenisVID.

  • Troubles with Time warp (CC) effect

    Hello everybody,
    I am experiencing some troubles when using the Time warp in After Effects CC. I would like to create a smooth slow motion effect in a video, but, even applying the Easy ease on the keyframes the effect produces some distortions in the images.
    I don't know if it's important to say that the original images show two people dancing in a party and there are flashing lights all the time. Does this interfere in the result of the effect?
    I've used this effect before in the its CS6 version and the result was excellent. I have already checked the graphics and changed some paramethers, but this doen't change the distortions...
    Thank you

    Some footage just does not slow down well. Here's what I would do. First, reset the time warp effect to normalize all the settings. Second, set the speed. Third, step through the footage one frame at a time until you find the frame with the most problems. It is here that you should start experimenting with things like block size, smoothness, filtering. When you get your best looking frame it is time to do a ram preview.
    Some elements in the shot, like a hand moving for example, may require some roto or other techniques to create a matte layer. With some footage you will get a better result by simply using TimeRemapping with frame blending turned on. Sometimes Twixtor is the only solution. Twixtor has a lot more options than TimeWarp, but neither of them offer a one click solution to difficult shots with lots of edge detail.

  • Battery warping problem - is there a recall programme to fix this?

    My Macbook Pro has the serial number W87181N**, which I can't see featuring on any recalls. I bought it in late 2007. It has the warping problem discussed here - I had the touchpad stop working with the button seeming to be clicked down permanently. I removed the battery and the problem went away, and the battery is visibly warped.
    This does look to me like a defect of manufacture - particularly as it seems a common problem. What do I need to do to get a free replacement from my local Apple repair centre?
    <Edited by Host>

    Congrats on getting a new battery. This is "generally" what Apple does in these situations. I tend to agree with you, but they have in some cases not replaced batteries. A two year old battery is well beyond the general one year warranty period. Apple provides a one year warranty. Chances are... if anything fails shortly after that and you have always been careful, it is due to the component failing. You could argue that just about any failure that isn't due to the fault of the user would be a manufacturing defect. Apple provides the option for you to extend your warranty by purchasing AppleCare for just these types of situations. They basically have to make a cut off point someplace. Otherwise, people could come in with a four year old battery and say it failed due to a defect. Expanding batteries is definitely a problem Apple is aware of... hence their decision to extend the warranty... and provide coverage many times even further than two years. Although, in reality, a swollen battery after two years could be considered the same as a hard drive failure... a memory failure... or just about any other failure. It's basically a component failure outside of warranty. Apple has just chosen what really amounts to "doing the right thing".

  • Help, I am about to pull my hair out, can't get into a locked drive and Time Machine problem

    I've screwed everything up, I think.  I had Time Machine doing backups to an external 500Gig drive and somehow it got locked.  I went into Get Info to try and change the access but it won't allow me.  On top of this problem, my original drive died and I can't get into Time Machine to restore.  When I click "Enter Time Machine", nothing happens.  I created an eDisk and a startup disk to another external drive that I'm using now, but since everything that's been backed up is on the other drive that I can't access.  When I try accessing the drive it gives:  "The folder “G-DRIVE ” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents."  I'm not knowledgeable enough to work from the command line, so if I need to do that to access the drive, please walk me though it.  As for the Time Machine problem, I have no idea how to recover anything since it won't even come up, it just sits there.  Outside of blowing my brains out, I don't know what to do.  Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can't afford to take it to Apple to let them try and fix it.

    Hello, not sure how this might affect a TM drive, or not, but...
    Here is what i needed to do for my drive "320GB HD", the last command is just for clean up
    Open Terminal and type these commands carefully with the spaces & change 320GB HD to the name of your drive.
    sudo chflags 0 "/volumes/320GB HD"
    sudo chown root "/volumes/320GB HD"
    sudo chmod 1775 "/volumes/320GB HD"
    sudo -k
    That said, these should be sufficient to do the job:
    sudo chflags 0 "/Volumes/320GB HD"
    sudo chmod a+rx "/Volumes/320GB HD"

  • Time out problem in BPS

    BPS friends,
    We have a planning function to copy Versions based with some filters. The copy function takes 5 hours and times out after that. The function is reaching max buffer size as recommended by SAP so we cant increase the buffer size anymore.
    We are on BW-BPS 3.5.
    How can I solve this time out problem? Please respond to me.

    Hi Pat,
    How many record did you copy ??
    Could you restrict the copy in not 1 package ??
    Package per package ...
    I suggest you ..
    e.g. you have restriction by a 0CALMONTH / something ..
    Then,
    You can copy e.g. for January to March, then March to August, etc.
    You can automate it by planning sequence.
    Hopefully it can help you a lot.
    Regards,
    Niel.
    thanks for the points you choose to assign.
