Time wrong by exactly an hour

Here's a strange new symptom.
My iPhone 3GS is now showing the time an hour later than it should be. I've changed timezones and then changed them back to the correct one, in case that was the problem. I've also put it to manual setting, then back to automatic. I've tried re-booting it. It still insists that it is 11:00 now, when it is 10:00.
Any suggestions?

Call carrier and report to them a tower in your area has incorrect time as that is where phone will pull it from when set to automatic.

The Calendar app that came on my i4S Phone does not sync the correct time for items posted on my Yahoo Calendar. Actually, items post exactly 4 hours earlier than the correct time on my Yahoo Calendar.   My i4S is in the correct New York time zone.  Help?

I posted this question a while ago and didn't receive any responses but there are a lot of people who have viewed it and 10 have said they have the same question so I thought I would update you that I added my nanny to my exchange server account (created an email for her) and I send all invites to that email address and they work.  So sending invites from an exchange server account to a non-exchange server account apparently is a bug so to solve it, get on an exchange server I guess.

  • How do I change the new iTunes play list total time display from 1.5 hours format to exact display of 1hr 31min 12sec.

In the new iTunes the play list total time displays in 1.5 hours format, how do I get it to clearly show 1hr 31min 12sec like before, I want the exact time so I can properly fit all the songs when I want to burn this playlist to a disc. You can no longer just click on it to change the display format. Nor can you right click, control click, or change it in options. If anyone knows I would very much appreciate your imput. Thank You.

Actually, that's the problem ... in iTunes *11* it has stopped working.  I have the status bar displayed, and it is stuck on the 1.x hours format.
That is very, very strange !!
I can't get that to happen on mine. It worked in 11.0 and I updated today to 11.0.1 and it's OK.
I've tried making a new playlist, I've tried changing an old playlist, smart playlist ...... all OK ????

use a supported web browser to go to iCloud.com. Click your name (top right) and set you Time Zone to the correct one.
    Hope this helps, Andrew

  • 2011 MBP (10.8.4) freezes exactly one hour after reboot

    Hello,
I'm having an issue identical to this poster insofar as I can tell, but some test results are different for me. Exactly one hour after rebooting or starting the computer, applications become unresponsive, video stops playing, then a little while later sound stops playing, and the cursor becomes a beachball if interacting with an application. Some windows can still be dragged or brought to the front of the screen for a short time. Eventually everything (except sometimes the cursor) is frozen and the machine never recovers from this state (for at least 15 minutes, I haven't let it go longer).
Most of the time this is accompanied by a CPU use spike and the fans spinning up, but not always. I have trawled through the system logs and disabled lots of LaunchAgents to no avail, so let me just list a few things I've tried and their result.
    Disabling wifi: no change
Removing RAM one slot at a time: no difference
Memtest: clean results, froze after 1 hour anyway
Apple Hardware test: clean result on extended test, progress *sometimes* halts at the end of the third or fourth pass after the "Main Logic Board" test had finished (during message "Testing in progress... Extended testing in progress").
System console/system.log shows no distinctive output immediately before freeze, unless I'm doing other things like playing audio or using the internet in which case the wifi interface has activity or CoreAudio turns outputs on, but this is different every time it crashes. I did find that GoogleSoftwareUpdate was implicated in one of the console logs, so I disabled and uninstalled that without effect. I recently started using Time Machine on an external drive, so I disabled that and removed the drive I'd selected from Time Machine preferences - no improvement.
While watching Activity Monitor during one freeze, I saw that cprefsd (root) had spiked to 260% CPU usage, fseventsd (root) to 128%, and several other processes to 100% (UserEventAgent, cprefsd, iTunes Helper, and apsd (root)). Everything else was at 1%.
Symptomatically, this appears to be a software issue (not an instant crash, elevated CPU usage, regular timed interval), but I've been unable to isolate the cause. I strongly suspect Time Machine is responsible (fseventsd is linked to it) but having disabled it in System Preferences I'm not sure if it should be eliminated. Alternately I believe this may be symptomatic of logic board, memory controller, or graphics card failure, but am at a loss to explain the regular (non-random, non-usage-dependent) occurrence. I performed the syslog test prescribed by Linc Davis in this thread and found only regular shutdown codes, so that also seems to point to software issues.

This morning I tried leaving the computer on in Safe Boot mode and the freeze occurred on schedule, with the windows becoming unresponsive at 60 minutes in, and the the beachball appearing as soon as I moved the cursor.
If I can get a full backup sorted (only essential stuff is cloned right now), I'll try a clean install of OS X from the recovery partition to see if it nixes whatever process is at fault. I have an appointment with the Genius Bar tomorrow evening, but if this is really a software problem then I'm not sure how they can help (except to replace it at cost). Are there any other tests or fixes I can try? What's the likely prognosis?
Thanks a lot for your help.

Apple replaced the logic board and the fix and it didn't fix the problem. To their credit, they refunded the repair fee. I ended up tracing the issue to a third-party drive I'd bought from NewEgg, a Crucial M4 SSD, which had a very peculiar firmware bug:
Correct a condition where an incorrect response to a SMART counter will cause the m4 drive to become unresponsive after 5184 hours of Power-on time. The drive will recover after a power cycle, however, this failure will repeat once per hour after reaching this point.
I would have probably gotten the update notice had I purchased direct from Crucial (or had it come pre-installed if I'd bought it a month later). If you have a similar issue, check your drive firmware!

  • Recovery with time machine needs over 1000 hours

I have a Macbook Air (Mid 2011, 128 GB SSD, 4GB RAM, Mountain Lion) and I wanted to recover the OS for testing purposes from my external hraddrive (500GB USB Gdrive). Now the recovery has started and it shows me a remaining time of more than 1000 hours. The value still increases. There was no need for recovery, I only wanted to check the functionality. backups were running without problems. Whats wrong now? Any suggestions?

I'm sorry I have no idea what you're asking; I don't know what you mean by 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)? I bought the hard drive specifically for use with this Mac; I plugged it in & copied across around 58MB of files from the Mac hard drive with no problem; I did it in small parts but the total thing only took a few hours. I was then advised to do this 'total back-up', which is now taking several days to only back up 59MB. Why is life so complicatd with Macs?! I'm used to just plugging things in & they work, no fuss or bother.
I really would like to stop it now; but need some advice as to whether what has already been copied across over the past 28 hours will actually be on the HD, or will I have to start all over again? Second question; clearly it is easier to just drag & drop files across to the HD - this Time Machine thing is useless - but I am not totally sure which files it is copying. Would I just copy everything from 'My computer' / applications, etc?

  • I have managed to sync my iPhone 4 to my btyahoo calendar with caldav.  All entries appear on the phone calendar on the correct date, but the time given is always 5 hours later than the (correct) time on the computer. How can I rectify this?

Why do the times for each event or appointment appear on the phone calendar exactly 5 hours later than the correct times entered into the Yahoo calendar on my P.C?  Is there a way of rectifying this, either on the Yahoo calendar site, or on the iPhone?

You got the new iphone?????   I have same problem.  I transferred audiobooks to device to find no audiobooks on device (despite it being in iTunes as if it was).  Have you found a solution?????   I even tried to change import settings on format transfer but hasn't worked.

  • Application/object halts for (exactly) 1 hour

One processing object of my application occasionally halts for exactly 1 hour (60 minutes) and i wonder what the reason can be. The application itself is multithreaded and can run multiple threads. The application itself doesn't halt (log entries) but one thread that first downloads data via HTTP to a file and then processes the file sometimes halts and continues after 60 minutes. For the download part, i set a timeout of 10 minutes (not 60 minutes) and this timeout also is just for the download part. After downloading, the file processing starts that reads from the file and performs some database (JDBC) statements (SELLECT, UPDATE, INSERT). The application itself shows the running time of the thread. When the thread processing continues, i see in the database that there is a jump of exactly 60 minutes between the last and the subsequent access before/after the halt. There is no timeout oder exception or anything else. It just sleeps for 1 hour and then continues.
Can one reason be some MS SQL issue that just makes one connection sleep? Or any other possibility?

and of course you don't have these Sleeps in a loop that mysteriously executes exactly (60 minutes / sleep time) times ?
    just add more checking around the code that connects to db:System.out.println("Connecting at <time>");
    // ins, sel, upd
System.out.println("Done at <time>, took <timediff>"); and so on... it is mysterious and indicative of an error on your part that it takes exactly one hour.
unless there is a strange situation like the server where the db lives resets it self at x'olock and takes 1 hour to get back up... etc.

  • Why is the time wrong when setting itself automatically under Lion

My Date and Time preferences are set to ‘set date and time automatically’ and the zone is set to Europe (where I live).
However, since updating to Lion 10.7.1 (via the App Store), the time is showing as 8 hours early (ie USA time. What is the cause for this and are there any fixes?
    Thanks?

That is what makes the time go wrong. I can only ‘fix’ it by setting it to manual and adjusting it myself. Every time I set it to ‘automatic’ it sets itself not to European times (as selected) but to 8 hours earlier....

I thought it was an app but i deleted all the opened apps and turned it off and on, then just left t there and it still copied the time. Please help?

  • Time pair on Planned working hours 0

I want to generate time pair for days where planned working hours is 0.  how can i do that do i have to write a rule to generate time pairs on day with hours 8 (fixed if it is a off day) because if anybody takes PL on off day and CL on off day then i have to generate 8 hours of attendance during time evaluation.  By default system is not generating any time pairs and hence i am not able to generate 8 hours.  Plz guide.

I can generate time types but the problem is that time type will be a generic time type and will be applicable to all absence classes with operation VARST or OUTTP.  Until I have a time pair on a non working day and if that time pair is generated then it can be read using RTIPA OR PTIPA variables.
Otherise for every absence type it will generate 8 hours but I want 8 hours to be generated wtih PL and CL only.  If i give LOP or LWP then also system is generating 8 hours time type which is wrong.  So until I generate a time type for the off day i cannot read 2001 or TIME PAIR TABLE.
    Kindly guide.

  • Clock time keeps changing by 12 hours

I have a 3rd Gen Touch that was my husband's before he got an iPhone. One day I noticed the calendar was showing the wrong day. On closer inspection, the problem was that the time was off by 12 hours. Instead of Wednesday 9 am it said Tuesday 9 pm. I went into Settings to fix it, making sure I had the AM/PM correct. Several days later I noticed it was off again.
Five days ago I corrected it again. Today, it is again off by 12 hours, telling me it is 4 am rather than 4 pm. This makes it pretty useless as an alarm! Any idea what's going on and how to fix it?

First, go to Settings > General > Date & Time and make sure you selected a time zone that is the same as the one you live in. Set the correct date and time.
Next, go the the date and time settings on your computer and make sure the correct time zone is selected and the clock is set properly. Sync your touch and make sure the times match.

  • My iPhone has just started getting the time wrong

My iPhone has just started getting the time wrong. Whether I have 'set automatically' on or off, it still sets the clock and hour ahead of the real time. If I reset it correctly, within 10m it has incorrectly reset it. It is amazingly frustrating!

    Hello justveils,
It sounds like you are not able to erase just one letter when backspacing.  I recommend following steps in the tutorial below to address an issue like this (you can skip step 2 "Recharge iPhone" because it's not related to this issue).  I think the step to reset your iPhone my be particularly useful in this scenario:
To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Why does the Install-SPSolution / Uninstall-SPSolution take exactly 8 hours to complete?

    I asked this question
here before and didn't get a usable answer and I see other people are getting the same issue. I did some more testing, added a timer/t to my scripts and discovered that the Install-SPSolution / Uninstall-SPSolution always takes exactly
8 hours to the minute to complete, no matter when I start it. I verified this over several refreshes of my webpart and it is always exactly 8 hours. This applies to both Central Admin and farm solutions. I hope that the duration of 8 hours
to the minute does contain a clue to solve this issue.
This is the PS1 script I use to install the CA component:
    param([string]$cadmin2010 = "", [string]$cadmin2013 = "")
    Write-Output "Installing MySolution.CentralAdmin.wsp webpart"
    Add-PsSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell
    Write-Output "Loaded SharePoint environment"
    $cadmin = $cadmin2010
    if ($cadmin2013) {$cadmin = $cadmin2013}
    Write-Output $("Installing webpart on " + $cadmin)
    $sln = Add-SPSolution MySolution.CentralAdmin.wsp
    Write-Output "Added solution"
    Install-SPSolution -Identity MySolution.CentralAdmin.wsp -GACDeployment -Force
    Write-Output "Installing solution"
    while($sln.JobExists)
    start-sleep -s 5
    Write-Output "Solution installed"
    Enable-SPFeature -Identity b2ff3a66-0f9d-4b4a-9b79-842aeca34d42 -url $cadmin -Force
    Write-Output "Feature enabled"
It takes 8 hours before the "Solution Installed" message is printed. Once it completes, everything works fine, but with the uninstall of an old version and the install of a new version, 16 hours is a long wait. This is the output of my script:
