TimeCapsule is not too hip with Windows 7?

I can get the drive to mount perfectly in Snow Leopard, but when it comes to Windows 7, it's a completely different story. I have done everything I could find on the internet other than downgrade my firmware. Currently it is at 7.5.1
The only way for me to get the Hard Drive to show up in Windows is to unplug the Time Capsule, then it just shows up for a little bit. I think this is happening when the TimeCapsule drive goes to sleep. If anyone knows a perm fix, please let me know!

I got it working. I rebooted my Airport Extreme and all is fine again. Weird.

Firefox 36.0.4 does not play well with Windows 7. If it opens at all, it freezes within a minute so the screen goes pale and I get the classic spinning circle of death. Then the header says (not responding).

Verizon Media Manager will not start automatically with Windows, even though it is set to do so. This started with the latest update. I see that the desktop icon for Media Manager now has a security shield on it, and it requires UAC confirmation when you start it, which I don't remember the old version doing.
One thing I noticed, msconfig.exe shows that "C:\Program Files\Verizon\McciTrayApp.exe" is set to start at Windows startup, but the desktop icon used to start Media Manager manually has a target of ""C:\Program Files\Verizon\Verizon Media Manager\Release\Verizon Media Manager.exe" Verizon Media Manager".
I don't remember what the previous version was, but this one is 9.4.86. It asked me if I wanted to update it a few days ago, and I said yes.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium.

Try setting the startup option to off and then to on again. It looks to be pointing to a wrong location.

Help! Going mad! My printer use to print wirelessly and then stopped. I reset once by looking on google but now don;t know what to do. I have Surface tablet with windows 8 (i think!). Prints with USB fine. Thank you so much. Ruth

Skype does NOT start up with Windows

When I boot up Windows, Skype refuses to load with it even though it is enabled to do so in the Skype settings.
Windows 7
Skype 6.21.0.104
Solutions tried: removing and reinstalling Skype and checking/unchecking the Start Skype with Windows checkbox.

Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Browsing History" if Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.
If you use CCleaner then make sure that Session is unchecked in the settings for the Firefox application.

Z580 touchpad not working properly with windows 8

Bought a z580 laptop recently and upgraded to windows 8. The vertical and horizontal scrolling features don't work with it anymore. There is also no zooming and rotating feature anymore. I downloaded the windows 8 driver from the lenovo website, but it says that I need the 64bit driver for my laptop. According to the lenovo download it was for both 32 and 64bit. How can I get the touchpad functions back?

I just purchased the 'new' Z580 with Windows 8. Lovely laptop, nightmare experience trying to get the touchpad working! After trying a few fixes, I tried to call Lenovo directly, after going through about 10 phone numbers, I finally reached Lenovo IdeaPad technical support, who told me they had no knowledge of this issue, that it must be a hardware fault (of which I was convinced it wasn't) and asked to send the machine back for a replacement. In other words, Lenovo could not be bothered to help me fix the problem, rather pass it off to the retailer to deal with. Very poor service Lenovo, and very lazy. Anyway, I managed to get the touchpad working perfectly using the solution here (thanks!), so just wanted to advise people to ignore Lenovo and follow the steps here before sending back the 'faulty'' laptop... - Plugin in an external mouse (guessing you have done this already as the touchpad doesn;t work!)- Close down all your apps- Uninstall all Lenovo mouse and Synaptics drivers (via Control Panel)
- Go to device manager (search 'device manager' in settings using bottom-right corner action)- Right-click on 'USB HID drivers' and choose 'uninstall' - the mouse will stop working (which is fine)- Press ALT-F4 to close device manager and again to restart the laptop- The default mouse driver will install automatically - which is fine- Double-click the download here from Lenovo China (www.lenovo.com.cn) and click the left icon (will appear with ??? as it is Chinese) to unzip the file - a new folder will appear with the drivers in it- Go into the Synaptics folder and run set-up to install the Synaptics touchpad driver- Restart again and now the touchpad should be working perfectly! Good luck...

WEB Forms do not display properly with windows 95 LARGE fonts desktop setting

We are using WEB forms 6.0 patch level 6 (We tried 6i but had too many bugs with it, we prefer to wait until at least a couple of patches are out, installation was a VERY painful experience for us)
We still have the following problem with WEB FORMS deployed on win95 desktops with LARGE FONTS destktop settings: The forms are not displayed correctly, sometimes there are no scroll bars, resizing a window gives weird results, part of the forms become inaccesible, some forms are blank, etc...
Can you verify or confirm that you have the same kind of problems ? We use jinitiator 1.1.18.
Is it fixed with 6i ? Is it fixed wit jinit 1.1.27 ?
We develop in smal fonts on win95 and recompile under solaris before deploying.

Thank you all for your fast asnwers. The "Use hardware acceleration when available" was the problem, I disabled it and I will post a message on my site about this.
The site is on-line in the same aspect since 2005, modifiyng the whole site to fit with Firefox11's default setting is not a good option. At that moment, placing a tabel (alligned to the center of the page) and puting in it the thumbnails with links generated by ExpressThumbnailCreator, than manually adding the description in the HTML view of FrontPage was the simplyest way possible to make the site appear properly on my 800*600 px resolution I used then. Of course, I upgraded my hardware and software since then, but the site remained mostly unchanged (except the index and a few files). I know it's time for a new version of the site but... my web-design knowledges are limited to basic HTML.

Cintiq tablet will not work correctly with windows

SmartView 11.1.1.3.01 does not work right with Windows 7 64 bit

We have a user running Windows 7 64 bit and Smartview 11.1.1.3.01 that is having a host of issues
1. After initial install SV works as expected
2. If He either shuts his computer down or closes excel and reopens smartview he is not able to save data, nor when doing adhoc query analysis is he able to manually enter dimensions into the cells and click refresh. For example, He will open the connection and ad-hoc query analysis. Drag over the year dimension, enter FY12 in the cell, click refresh and FY12 disappears, he can manually choose it out of the tree and it will stay.
All Windows XP users do not experience this issue
any help would be greatly appreciated

Which version of MS Office are they using?
Did you confirm the plugin was installed using the run as administrator windows command - as there have been issues when not using this caused problems too.
Can you try using the later version plugin: 11.1.1.3.500. Be careful though that you don't hit the following:
Issue: After upgrading from Smart View v11.1.1.3 to Smart View v11.1.1.3.500, the connection screen box is blank in Excel 2007 on Windows 64-bit systems.
Cause: The registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hyperion Solutions\HyperionSmartView was not updated during the upgrade and contained incorrect information.
Solution
In the registry editor, delete the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hyperion Solutions\HyperionSmartView and run the Smart View v11.1.1.3.500 install.
Note: By deleting this key, you will lose stored information for: Connections, Login, Options, Preferences. These will need to be recreated.

Ipod touch will not sync fully with windows 7

i recently installed windows 7 on my laptop and ever since i have had trouble with my ipod touch. everytime i try to sync it to my itunes library it starts to sync and then my ipod dissapars from itunes, as if it's not even connected anymore, then it reappears and says that "the ipod can not be synced, the disk can not be read from or written to". when i look check my music on my ipod only hlf of my songs, videos, and album artwork is on it. does anyone else have this problem or a solution?

Try a hard reset of your iPod. Hold down the home and sleep/wake buttons until a red slider appears at the top of the lock screen. Sliding it will power off your iPod. Turn it back on and then try connecting it to iTunes.
That's actually a soft reset.
A hard reset requires you to hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

FingerPrint Sensor/Software not working right with Windows XP Pro SP3

Hi All,
I have a 3 month old Satellite Pro S300-S2504 (2.4 GHz CPU, 3 GB RAM, Bluetooth, firewire - was a custom build with most of the options I could get). The O/S installed was/is Vista Business. It came with a dowgrade XP Pro SP3 disc as well.
I bought a second hard drive - swapped it with the original and installed Windows XP Pro on it - having grown tired of Vista. I don't intend to keep both O/S's - but I didn't want to mess with what I had until I got XP working - and that's the reason I got the second hard drive for XP. Anyway, XP Pro is installed and working except the fingerprint sensor. As soon as I booted for the first time - with nothing but the factory everything installed, it prompted me to register fingers for the sensor. I tried but I got a database not found error followed by a sensor not working error. I got the latest updates for the fingerprint sensor, removed what I had - rebooted and installed the newer program - I got the same error. I then uninstalled the program again, went through the registry and removed all entries whose key had TrueSuite in it, rebooted and installed the latest version again - rebooted - and got the same errors. Looking in Device Manager, the sensor is working fine but once I try to register a finger and it fails, I then look in Device Manager and the sensor has a yellow error indicator. I used System Restore to go back to the original configuration and then tried the Fingerprint drivers/patches for Vista and for Windows 7. All of them installed but I got the same database not found error followed by the fingerprint sensor not working error.
I did end the program, then using Task Manager, I ran the Fingerprint utility as administrator - still got the same errors. I've completely reinstalled from the Windows XP restore CD four times trying to solve this and I can't get the fingerprint reader to register fingerprints - I always get that error.
I have a lot of graphic editing (movies) software as well as file conversion programs and a very stable version of Roxio Easy Media Creator that all works fine in Windows XP - but it all has problems running in Vista and I'm tired of the bugs that Vista seems have - and I want to use Windows XP Pro. I will try any suggestions. The fingerprint sensor and software works reliably in Vista. I even updated it and that went fine. I suspect there's a problem with the XP version of the software for my computer. I did notice that Toshiba doesn't sell the this model series with XP downgrade as an option anymore. I wonder if this is one of the reasons.
Anyway - I would very much appreciate help with this. Any ideas at all are welcome.

..a clean Win XP Pro install and it still doesnt work.There is a Win Xp key on the bottom of the laptop, but I cant seem to use it.
The Product Key that comes with the computer is useless to activate a retail installation. You would need to purchase a new one or convice Microsoft that an old one is no longer in use.
In the device manager it shows
Ethernet Controller
Multimedia Audio Controller
Network Controller
Unknown Device needing Drivers. I have searched and downloaded drivers and installed them but it still doest work.
Get the drivers from here.
Install the chipset utility first, followed by the display driver. Be sure to install the common modules prior to any Toshiba utilities, including power management.

PE7 not showing RAW with Windows 7 64bit

Just upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit and now PE7 will no longer open .NEF raw files from my Nikon D90. I downloaded Camera Raw 5.5 update and moved the 64bit 8BI plug-in to the File Formats folder but still get error message saying it cannot be opened (in the editor) "because it is the wrong type of file". Can't get it into the Organizer for the same reason. I can view the photos in Windows Photo Viewer after downloading FastPictureViewer WIC RAW Codec Pack 1.30.
What do I need to do to get PE7 to recognize these files?

The 64-bit Camera Raw.8bi plug-in does not work with PSE, even if you're on 64-bit Windows Vista or Windows 7. PSE is a 32-bit program.
Delete all copies of the Camera Raw.8bi plug from the Plugs-Ins\File Formats folder (or subfolders). Then start over again and follow the installation directions precisely:

Is there a way around the cloud not being compatible with windows xp?

I have been using a blackberry bold but am excited to be purchasing the iphone 4s. My idea was to use 1 phone for both personal and business use. I have been synching the blackberry with outlook (non enterprise). I am a solo attorney and have one office computer not on a server. I was planning on synching business stuff (calendar, contacts) with outlook in the office on my windows xp computer and synch my media from a family shared library (via my playlist) on the cloud.
Do you have any suggestions as to how I can synch my contacts, calendar, etc to all of my i devices (incl. ipad 2 and itouch as well as my iphone ) without using hosted outlook exchange. (Exchange is not compatible with other office software).

If you try and run ApplePhotoStreams.exe or ApplePhotoStreamsDownloader.exe you get an error saying "The procedure entry point SHGetKnownFolder path could not be located in the dll SHELL32.dll." It looks like this function call is not supported for XP:

Frustrating...Not sure there is a workaround, would be nice if you could drop in SHELL32.dll in the Windows folder that supported this function call.

Hp deskjet 5850 is not compatiable with Windows 7 (64 bit)

I have a deskjet 5850 and the driver is not compatiable with my Windows 7 (64 bit) software. I followed the instructions to install an alternate driver, 5600 driver, but I still cannot get the printer to print a test page. I my printer is connected by USB.
I have no idea what I should do from here. Please help.
