Timecapsuled to new computer, Can't open Logic

Anyone had this issue before? Any solutions?

There is a System ID file when you register logic that ties your serial number to your computer ID Number.
Now that you have migrated to a new machine, the computer is a new model and the computer ID is not right.
Have your serial number ready and go to:
Library/Application Support/ProApps/Logic Studio System ID and delete the System ID file.
Empty trash, now restart Logic and the Registration dialog box should appear.
Put in your info and serial number.
I'm guessing here, there could be other things wrong, you may have to re-install the Logic Pro Application again.

  • Computer died-new computer can't open etextbook

My computer crashed hard with my etextbook on it. I used Carbonite.com to backup my hard drive, so the files weren't lost. The new computer uses Vista. I installed DE and downloaded the textbook from the Carbonite backup. Now I'm getting the message "Document is licensed for a different user account."
First the print copy gets lost in the mail, now my digital copy is lost on a crashed computer. I can't afford another $70 for a third copy and class has already started. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the answer to this depends on your memory. Do you remember if you used named activation when you originally purchased the book?
If you used 'Easy Activation' (otherwise known as 'anonymous activation') then you're in trouble, because books activated that way are NOT portable and cannot be moved to another drive or machine.
Now, if you'll open a support case then we can check to see if there are activations against your email address. Also consider the possibility that you may not be remembering the address you authorized with correctly..

  • New computer - Can I open previous FCPX events/projects from an external hard drive on my new computer?

My old computer died - a Macbook Pro from 2011.  Fortunately, I saved all of my FCPX events and projects on an external hard drive.  Unfortunately, many of those projects were unfinished.
I have since bought a new iMac with FCPX, but I can't figure out how to open my old projects.
On my external hard drive, I have 2 folders: Final Cut Events and Final Cut Projects.
Under a specific event, there is an "Analysis Files" folder, a "CurrentVersion.fcpevent" file, an "Original Media" folder, and a "Render Files" folder.
Under a specific project, there is a "CurrentVersion.fcpproject", a "Render Files" folder, and a "Shared Items" folder.
Is it possible to open up my old FCPX projects?  Thanks so much for your help!

It may have been an earlier version, but that doesn't seem to be working.  See attached photo
Its not allowing me to click on my Events or Projects.
    Any other ideas?

  • New computer - can't open my website in iweb

I just replaced my old computer and the new one that has iweb already installed. After logging into mobileme and opening iweb, the program doesn't show me my existing website. I checked under 'File' but 'visit published site' is not an option. What do I need to do to open and work on my existing website in iweb? Thanks.

Well, you actually need to be sure that you have backed up the correct file.
It is correct that if you have published pages from iWeb and they are html pages and files, then iWeb cannot import these - iWeb has no import facility and creates all the html code needed when you publish. If this is the case, then you will have to re-build your site from scratch.
The file where iWeb stores all data and this is the file that you need to be able to alter anything is your domain.sites2 file. It is located under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites. Note, it is your user library that you need to be looking in and not your system library.
Find your domain.sites file and you can make any alterations that you want and it is this file that you want to back up and nothing else - backing up a published site is no good, as you have already learned.

  • I am buying a new computer, can i copy firefox from my old one and paste it on the new one

Instead of opening up a new firefox with my new computer can i copy the one from my old one and paste it to my new one so i can save all my bookmarks?

The user data is store in the profile folder. You can copy the data manually by copying the contents of the profile folder, for details see [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup Profile backup - MozillaZine Knowledge Base] or [[Backing up your information]].
There are some add-ons and utilities that can make this process easier. The first one is the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2109/ FEBE] add-on which can be used to copy a profile. Another option is the free [http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/ MozBackup] utility.

  • I just bought a new computer, can i transfer itunes from one computer to another computer with all my music

i just bought a new computer, can i transfer itunes from my old computer to my new computer with my music in it or do i have to sync all my cds again

    Hi,
A painless way to do it ...
From your Old Computer... Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..
Backup iTunes to an External Drive

An Added Bonus is that you will then have a Backup of iTunes...

  • Downloaded Mountain Lion and can't open Logic Express,How do you fix?

Wouldn't let me open 9.1.7 upgrade before because I didn't have Mountain Lion, and now I can't open Logic 9.0.0 to put the upgrade on.

    Check this site:
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table/tags/_l/index_tags/_l
Shows some problems with Logic Pro 9 in ML (Logic express appears fine).
Just a wild guess: Is the installer of your version a PowerPC App? I have Final Cut Express - it is universal, but the installer is PPC and I can't use it to install. As a workaround, I have a working Snow Leopard partition and copied every file from there onto the same location on ML - it works fine. That assumes you know where all the files are located.

  • I am trying to download my library to my new computer. can't do it following the instructions from your site

I am trying to download my library to my new computer. can't do it following the instructions from your site

We are all itunes users just like you.
If you are transferring from Mac to Mac, then copy the entire itunes folder.
You can also type :" move itunes library" into the google search bar for directions.
Since you do not mention exactly what you have tried and what happened, it is difficult to offer much more.

  • After successfully importing my bookmarks through Firefox Sync from my old to new computer, can I purge the old computer and still have the bookmarks on the new

I want to upgrade my computer and did a Windows Easy Transfer to my new one. My Firefox bookmarks did not show up on my new computer so I used Firefox Sync-which worked fine. Now that I have the bookmarks on the new computer, can I erase the old computer and still have the bookmarks on the new one.

First, disconnect your old computer from Firefox Sync so you don't accidentally delete the data from sync, but then yes you should be good to go.

  • Old computer died, got a new computer, can i put whats on my ipod...

Old computer died, got a new computer, can i put whats on my ipod now into my library on my new computer?
I have looked at the "how to" for transfering a library to a new computer but that seems to be how to do it if your old computer is still working and you have the luxury of planning to move the library.
All I have from the music that was on my old computer is what is already synced into my ipod right now. Can/How do i get this into the iTunes I just downloaded???????

There's an answer to your question but first it's time for a bit of a lecture - if it makes a difference, I don't feel any better about this than you do. : - (
I hope you take this unfortunate state of affairs as an opportunity to learn a very important lesson: Back up your iTunes library as soon as you can after resolving this situation because right now you are only one glitch of your iPod away from losing your music entirely.
Many people come to the Discussions having lost their music in just such situations and, believe me, it's not a happy time for anyone.
Anyways, that's the lecture. You should find a resolution to your problem in this article at wired.com.
Good Luck! But once you have the music back on your computer, remember:
Your music is valuable - please back it up!
    P.S.
If you want to get a bit of a "bigger picture" on back-ups, you might want to make yourself a cup of tea and have a look at this article on the PC World web site and this Microsoft support page .

    Hey poppy808,
Thanks for the question. The following resource outlines how to transfer your iTunes Library to a new computer. It also mentions how you can use most iPods as an external drive (in the External drive section):
