Timecode Function and FCP Remote Control Questions

We are considering using FCP to produce Quicktime clips with a Black Magic HD Extreme card for ingest from an SDI source.
I need to know if we have the option of inserting window timecode in QT file, and if this can be turned on or off easily.
I also need to know if FCP will need to act as the master controller for the source deck, or if there is a way that I can have FCP act as the slave from a RS-422 hardware controller (such as one of the JL Cooper boxes).
Thanks,
S. Smith

I need to know if we have the option of inserting window timecode in QT file, and if this can be turned on or off easily.
If the deck has HD SDI out with SUPER, then you just turn on the Character Generator and have it display TC. But neither FCP nor the Decklink (or AJA) cards add visual information. You can add it later, after you capture. There is a filter called TIMECODE READER, in the VIDEO FILTERS>VIDEO section.
I also need to know if FCP will need to act as the master controller for the source deck, or if there is a way that I can have FCP act as the slave from a RS-422 hardware controller (such as one of the JL Cooper boxes).
With a capture card that has RS-422 control, FCP can control the deck. But you cannot control FCP remotely with RS-422. You can with Apple Remote Access or if you have two machines running Leopard, BACK TO MY MAC.

  • How to set Menu and Title functionality for a remote control in a menu?

I have a main menu (countries) and under each country there is a submenu (regions). When I play my DVD on my Mac it seems to function alright:
If I go to country C and hit the "menu" button, nothing happens (I see the "action prohibited" line popping up). And nothing should happen of you hit menu in a submenu. Only if you hit Title/Top menu you should be able to go to the main menu.
However... When I play my DVD on a DVD player (and I tested it on 2 different ones) and I go to a the Country C and hit the "menu" button, I am suddenly transfered to Country A. And if I go from the main menu to Country D and I hit the "menu" button, I go to... Country A. The menu button seems to be linked to the first submenu. Which is very odd!
So there is definately something going very wrong when using the menu/title buttons during playback when I am in a submenu (not while playing a track).
Can someone help me? Is there a way to define what happens with the remote control buttons menu or title when you are in a submenu and NOT playing a track? I can not find any controls for that.
    Thanks!

Does this mean I should select "not set" in the general tab at the dropdown menu's for Title, Menu and Return in the Remote Control section? I can't find any other place where I can select menu or title.
But if I set these to "not set",the menu and title buttons still work in simulation mode... So I guess I should do something else in order to disable menu and title? Sorry for the amount of questions from my side!

  • Tecra 750: Question about Infrared and TV remote control

    Hi there,
I am wondering if anyone can help. I have an old Tecra 750 which I am using as an audio system to play my MP3 collection. It has an Infrared detector on it and I was wondering if it is possible to use this to receive IR from a TV remote control so I can use a remote to navigate my audio files. Does anyone know how to do this or where I could find out how? Is there any freeware to help perhaps? Is it even possible?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
The computer uses IRDA infra red and this is not compatible with the type of infra red used by normal remotes.
You could get an external infra red remote control which will plug into the USB port.

  • Confilicts with XP "Remote Desktop" and ZFD4 "Remote Control"

He have a similar problem like this. Some machines, after installing Zen4
agent, after first login, the WS reboot automatically every time.
He have discovered a conflit with display adapter ( Intel eXtreme graphics
    2 ).
Resolution: With workstation at CTRL+ALT+DEL or password prompt, access
the registry of this machine with a remote admin WS. At the
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run commands, find startup
tools from the display adapter, like HotKeysCmds -> C:\Windows\System32
\hkcmd.exe and remove them from registry.
Logon at the WS and if it run fine, reinstall the display adapter.
    I hope this help you.

I'm not sure if Apple Remote can, but
Microsoft offers a free program called Remote Desktop Connection so you can do just that.

  • Questions about remote control and infrared port Qosmio F20

    Hi again,
My Toshiba Qosmio F20 comes with a remote control funcioning through a infrared device on the front of the computer.
Regarding this I have 2 questions:
    1. How do I configure additonal functionality through the remote control? (Like launching and controlling Winamp?)
    2. How do I connect other devices, like my cellular phone, pdas etc., to the infrared device on my computer?
    Kind regards,
    Vegard

    Hi,
the Remote Control delivered with the Qosmio F20 is designed only for Windows XP Media Center Edition (all Remote Control's which are designed for Windows XP Media Center Edition work only with Media Center or Windows Media Player). Other program's like Winamp were not supported by these Remote Control's.
I believe, the Remote Control's are made by Microsoft and for a wide palette of product's (the Infrared Transceiver is on nearly all Media Center PC's e.g. Siemens-Fujitsu, the same). So it's a little bit tricky to support more program's then Media Center or Windows Media Player.
For other program's you need a second Remote Control like this one:

  • Software needed for Pavilion dv2201ca web cam plus remote control function

HP Pavilion dv2201ca - Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
Replaced hard drive and reloaded software using System Recovery DVD and downloaded SP-1 and SP-2.
The web cam and the remote control features do not function after installing the above software and using online updating for the installed software.
Can someone please direct me to a link that will provide the proper web and remote software?

Didn't find the soft pac for the remote control installation, just instructions for using the TV functions. On a separate forum I found a reference to " sp40139 " to resolve the remote control problem on a different operating system. I downloaded the file (29Mb) but was afraid to install it for my 32 bit Vista Home Premium OS. If I could find the link to the location where this soft pac was located, I could probably find the correct one.
My computer dv2201ca is probably of Canadian origin ..... would there be a different support site for this?

  • Remote control and MCE remote on Windows

I am having issues with the remote control app on the Tablet S1 and MCE remotes on Windows 7 (64-bit). After learning the buttons for the MCE remote, pressing the same button more than once from the app does not do anything. For example, if I press the Up button the first time, it works fine. But if I press the Up button again, nothing happens. I have verified that the original MCE remote works as expected, and I have also verified that the tablet and the remote control app works with the MCE receiver connected to Ubuntu 11.10. Is anyone else running into this problem? How will the remote control app get updated (via the market or from system update)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Problem with remote control and Windows 7 - HP Pavilion 6301eu

I installed Windows 7 32-bit and my remote control does not work. I have tried all possible drivers and still nothing ... Photo driver attached. Does anyone have a link to the current drivers for the remote control and Windows 7? thank you

    Hi John:
Thanks but, I had already done this. I was having THAT problem with Encore (could not even initialize before tanking) when I first installed it and that's when I updated the Roxio engine. I don't know what else there is to update or correct at this point.
There was one thing that occurred to me: When I was using XP, I had to disable Open GL in order to get Encore to stabilize. I've heard one recommendation for Encore that one must disable graphics acceleration. I would like try that here except I can't figure out how to do that in Windows 7.
I've been Googling "Windows 7 Disable Graphics Accel" and have come up with nothing useful.
Thanks for your help though and if you have any other ideas, I'm all ears.

  • CDP C325 CD Player - using a remote control to turn

Will a universal remote control turn this device on and off?  The original remote that came with from Sony did not have this function on it.  Does that mean the device, itself, cannot or will not respond to an on/off command from a different remote control unit -- a Sony brand or another, e.g., Logitech?

RMD325 is the supplied remote control for the CDPC325 Compact Disc Player but it has been discontinued at our Parts and Accessories  website. However, you can check with the listed  Sony Authorized Part distributors below to see if they have the remote control available:
    Andrews Electronics Inc.
    661-257-7700
    www.andrewselectronics.com
    Encompass Parts Distribution

    www.encompassparts.com
    Fox International
    440-725-7150
    www.fox-international.com
We can not suggest any other one particular remote other than the model that was supplied with your player. But, generally remote controls from other Sony CD player will control the CDPC325 . We can not guarantee 100% full control, but normally the basics (power, volume and input) can be controlled.
Also, you may try to use a universal remote control but please take note that the manufacturer codes provided for programming a remote control to operate a component (e.g., RMD325 may not work or may not work properly for several reasons. The most common reason is that the component being programmed to is newer than the remote control (or the other way around) and the remote control has not been tested for functionality with the component.

  • Accept Certificate Fingerprints for all remote controlled WS

Frustrating thing is that one has to accept the certificate for each and every remote controlled PC.
One of our hotline guys got a new Harddisk (no roaming Profile) and all started from beginning. So I found a solution: I exported the registry from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Novell\ZCM\Remote Management\Viewer\Settings\DeviceFingerprints from another PC and imported it for the user on the new PC. OK everything working again without any question "Accept this certificate ...".
So I created a bundle with the following Launch Script Action and assigned it to all of my helpdesk users:
    reg export "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Novell\ZCM\Remote Management\Viewer\Settings\DeviceFingerprints" \\Srv1\Vol1\Dir1\DevFngrPrnt%COMPUTERNAME%.reg
    copy /y \\Srv1\Vol1\Dir1\DevFngrPrnt*.reg \\Srv1\Vol1\Dir1\AllDevFngrPrnt.reg
    reg import \\Srv1\Vol1\Dir1\AllDevFngrPrnt.reg
So with every launch all Fingerprints get exported and all the other users will import all of them. But still at least one Admin need to permanently accept the certificate.
Of course there are a lot of duplicates since each user exports the same Fingerprints. But the import takes care of it and just leaves one fingerprint for each device.
My QUESTION now: Where can I extract that Fingerprint directly from all the remote machines distribute it to all Hotline users? I did not find the source of it.
    Thanks Klaus

  • Audigy 2 NX Remote Control Issues

I am unable to use the remote control bundled with the Audigy 2 NX for anything but (un)muting and changing the volume. Obviously the remote is sending the signal and the box is receiving it. I've installed the latest version of Creative MediaSource 3 and the remote control manager:
    CMS_PCAPP_LB_3_30_2.exe
    CMS_RMT_PCAPP_LB_2_30_02.exe
I have made sure that "Enable Creative MediaSource Remote Control" is enabled and that I have selected the proper remote model, "Creative RM-500," in the Remote Control & OSD Settings menu. Howerver, under "Select this as the remote control receiver:" there are no devices available. Yet the Audigy 2 NX is plugged in and functioning. It shows up as my acti've sound output device and I am able to play sound through it.
    Any suggestions
I'm running Window's Vista 32bit with 4 GB of RAM and an Intel Core2 Duo T9400 at 2.53GHz.
    Thanks!

I have a small problem of my own.
I have a setup like Laptop---> Audigy 2NX -----> Analog 7. spkr system on Windows Vista 32 bit.
I am having a hell of a time in getting the SPDIF to work.
Do you know how to get sound from the SPDIF?
I thought the new drivers I installed? would solve the problem. But with them, the SPDIF I/O controls are greyed out and there is no sound through the speakers when I set SPDIF as default speakers.
    Hi ppkumar,
So do you mean that when you set SPDIF as default speakers, you do not get any sound through the analog 7. speakers system that is connected to the Audigy 2 NX? Is there any sound from the SPDIF? When default is set to SPEAKERS instead of SPDIF, does your analog 7. speakers work correctly?
If you get sound from your SPDIF but not your analog 7. speakers when default is set to SPDIF, and sound from your analog 7. speakers but not the spdif when SPEAKER is default, then I would think the Audigy 2 NX is behaving correctly since that would be what I would expect.

  • Unresponsive remote control with Toshiba 24D3434DB

    I recently bought a 24D3434D smart tv.
I was unable to scan for any channels when i bought it since i didnt have an aerial socket in the room i was using it in but i was able to use the smart tv function until suddenly the tv displayed a screen telling me that no channels were availiable and stopped responding to the remote control.
I took it back to the shop and the tv started to respond to the remote again and they were able to scan for channels there. When i took it home and turned it on again the remote wouldn't respond anymore until i tried again the next day after i left it unplugged over the night.
In the morning i found that the remote was working again until i plugged the tv into an adapter and not directly into the mains where the tv stopped responding to the remote again.
Does anyone know why this is happening or what i can do to fix this problem?
    Thanks.

    >In the morning i found that the remote was working again until i plugged the tv into an adapter and not directly into the mains where the tv stopped responding to the remote again.
What adapter do you mean exactly?
Does the remote control work properly if the TV is connected directly to the mains?
To be honest this is the first time I meet such issue.
Maybe some kind of light affects the functionality of the remote control, maybe its really an TV or remote control hardware problem.
I guess to find out whats exactly wring you should test it with another remote control or another TV and same remote control.

  • Apple remote control

I bought the apple remote control for my mac, but it's not working. I checked the systems preferences to enable the IR, but that option wasn't there.  I read that some macs don't have infrared option which is needed to use the control. The remote was advertised to work with macs - am I missing something???

The 2012 and 2013 iMacs do not have an IR receiver.
The 2011 iMacs were the last iMacs to have a built in IR receiver and IR remote control.
If you own an iDevice, there are apps that work either over WiFi or Bluetooth to control your iMac.
For another type of WiFi hardware device, look at these.
