'timed out' - constantly!

Unable to purchase from itunes as I am constantly getting the message that the account is timed out.
Same thing happened when I went to edit my account. Managed to change my password and edit using another mac but am experiencing the same problems on my own one.
Have been onto itunes support, have no software interfering, have most up to date itunes and covered all other aspects - all to no avail. Got back to them and they have redirected me here!
Can anyone out there help?

Here are two new bits of information:
I find this Apple site -- in fact, all of Apple's pages and sites -- to be troublesome. I have to click on just about everything twice, because the first time gives me a "page not found" or "document contains no data" message.
The second thing I have found is that Shockwave isn't working on my system. I tried to play a Shockwave game that I like on the Web, and I get a blank page.
Does this happen to you, too?
Scott

  • I am having alot of problems with itunes, including a "connection timed out" error CONSTANTLY. Any suggestions?

    My iTunes has always been a huge pain no matter what ive done. It runs slowly in general, freezes up every now and then, and when trying to restore my iPod touch 4g, i need to download a software update, which is impossible, due to the fact that every time i try i get a "Network connection timed out" message. I have also had the issue of my account locking me out twice now in a very short period of time, and i have no idea why. It says for security reasons, but ive changed passwords and everything.
    I would like to know if an update is comming soon to make things smoother, because ive long since lost patience with iTunes.

    If you are getting a network timeout error when downloading an iOS update then try temporarily turning off all your firewall and antivirus software until the download has completed.
    In terms of whether an update is coming, we are just fellow users on here so we won't know when the next update might be, and what might or might not be in it.

  • ITunes Store Error v. 7.0.2 - "Network Connection Timed Out"

    Ok, I'm just wondering if anyone else is having this issue? In the new iTunes v. 7.0.2 I am constantly having issues with the itunes store timing out. I have never encountered this issue in past versions and it has become extraordinarily annoying. Is this just something I'm going to have to put up with? (the iTune store randomly working on some days and not others) or is their a solution to the problem that I just don't know of?
    I must say, as an aside, I'm not impressed so far. Seems to me that this new version of iTunes has caused more issues for iPod owners than previous versions ever did. It took me 3 days to get v. 7.0.2 to even load on my PC (had to have it for G2 Shuffle) and now it doesn't work on a consistent basis.

    Hey yeah I have the same problem! They told me to uninstall all apple products off my PC and reinstall and now I'm running into the same issue while trying to download itunes and everything all over again. I am currently on hold with applecare to try and get a resolution, I will update as soon as I can!

  • Chat System: ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect

    Hi There,
    I am developing a chat system as part of a University project.
    To explain what I have implemented:
    I have three java classes;
    1. Chat Server class which is constantly listening for incoming socket connection on a particular socket:
    while (true)
    Socket client = server.accept ();
    System.out.println ("Accepted from " + client.getInetAddress ());
    ChatHandler c = new ChatHandler (client);
    c.start ();
    2. Chat Handler class uses a thread for each client to handle multiple clients:
    public ChatHandler (Socket s) throws IOException
    this.s = s;
    i = new DataInputStream (new BufferedInputStream (s.getInputStream ()));
    o = new DataOutputStream (new BufferedOutputStream (s.getOutputStream ()));
    public void run ()
    try
    handlers.addElement (this);
    while (true)
    String msg = i.readUTF ();
    broadcast (msg);
    catch (IOException ex)
    ex.printStackTrace ();
    finally
    handlers.removeElement (this);
    try
    s.close ();
    catch (IOException ex)
    ex.printStackTrace();
    protected static void broadcast (String message)
    synchronized (handlers)
    Enumeration e = handlers.elements ();
    while (e.hasMoreElements ())
    ChatHandler c = (ChatHandler) e.nextElement ();
    try
    synchronized (c.o)
    c.o.writeUTF (message);
    c.o.flush ();
    catch (IOException ex)
    c.stop ();
    3. Chat Client class which has a simple GUI and sends messages to the server to be broadcasted to all other clients on the same socket port:
    public ChatClient (String title, InputStream i, OutputStream o)
    super (title);
    this.i = new DataInputStream (new BufferedInputStream (i));
    this.o = new DataOutputStream (new BufferedOutputStream (o));
    setLayout (new BorderLayout ());
    add ("Center", output = new TextArea ());
    output.setEditable (false);
    add ("South", input = new TextField ());
    pack ();
    show ();
    input.requestFocus ();
    listener = new Thread (this);
    listener.start ();
    public void run ()
    try
    while (true)
    String line = i.readUTF ();
    output.appendText (line + "\n");
    catch (IOException ex)
    ex.printStackTrace ();
    finally
    listener = null;
    input.hide ();
    validate ();
    try
    o.close ();
    catch (IOException ex)
    ex.printStackTrace ();
    public boolean handleEvent (Event e)
    if ((e.target == input) && (e.id == Event.ACTION_EVENT)) {
    try {
    o.writeUTF ((String) e.arg);
    o.flush ();
    } catch (IOException ex) {
    ex.printStackTrace();
    listener.stop ();
    input.setText ("");
    return true;
    } else if ((e.target == this) && (e.id == Event.WINDOW_DESTROY)) {
    if (listener != null)
    listener.stop ();
    hide ();
    return true;
    return super.handleEvent (e);
    public static void main (String args[]) throws IOException
    Socket s = new Socket ("192.168.2.3",4449);
    new ChatClient ("Chat test", s.getInputStream (), s.getOutputStream ());
    On testing this simple app on my local host I have launched several instances of ChatClient and they interact perfectly between each other.
    Although when i test this app by launching ChatClient on another machine (using a wi-fi network connection at home), on the other machine that tries to connect to the hosting server (my machine) i get a "connection timed out" on the chatClient machine.
    I have added the port and ip addresses in concern to the exceptions to by-pass the firewall but i am still getting the timeout.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Format your code with [ code ] tag pair.
    If you are a young university student I don't understand why current your code uses so many of
    too-too-too old APIs including deprecated ones.
    For example, DataInput/OutputStream should never be used for text I/Os because they aren't
    always reliable.
    Use Writers and Readers in modern Java programming
    Here's a simple and standard chat program example:

    Tested both on localhost and a LAN.)

  • IMAP - "Timed out"

    Every since switching to Leopard (10.5) Mail 3.0 has been messed up. It keeps timing out on the IMAP accounts over and over again. Sometimes it goes through, sometimes all 8 of my accounts (same server) get the message:
    "There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for "ACOUNT" or try again. The server error was: The connection to the server "mail.domain.com" on port 143 timed out."
    I would like to believe it is the server but since it worked perfectly before the Leopard upgrade, I am not so sure. Also, another friend, same server with 10.5 has the same issue.
    I have tried:
    - Limiting to only one account (didn't work)
    - Turning on and off IDLE support (didn't work)
    - Changing settings for when to check (didn't work)
    Any help would be great, I am at my wits end.

    I've not used "Mail" for a year or so as it constantly popped up un-asked. I switched to Eudora and have been fine with that till I bought a new iMac and Leopard. I thought Apple might have gotten the problem fixed with this new version and tried using it. With this computer I can't receive mail as the port times out but can send OK. I can get that same mail either on Comcast's web mail, or Eudora in my other computer just fine. Comcast is no help as they don't support Mac. I thought I'd isolate the problem and re-installed a new copy of Eudora on this new computer and set it up. It both sends and receives just fine so it's not a problem with Comcast, the computer, or Eudora. Seems like it pretty much has to be with "Mail" itself.

  • Timed Out Requests

    I turned on performance monitoring on our CF server this
    morning to hunt down a slowdown and noticed that the counter for
    timed out requests is constantly sitting at 125 no matter what any
    of the other counters do. Is this normal or is this an indication
    of something I can correct?

    That is probably a good thing. Ideally you want requests to
    complete and not timeout. You can create and run a test template.
    If your timeout is for 30 seconds, create a template that runs 31
    seconds. See the code below and increase the sleep argument as
    needed. 31000 will cause the template to sleep 31 seconds. Does
    that increment your timeout counter?

  • New to I-pad and keep getting timed out when trying to download apps any help?

    Any help when constantly getting timed out message on trying to download apps by using security questions?

    I had the same problem! I don't know what caused it, possibly slow Internet but I suppose my antivirus or other software could have affected it. Maybe it's an iTunes problem.
    After restarting the download at least 5 times in iTunes after it timed out, I found this website. I didn't know this before, but you can download the update in your browser and then apply it to your iPhone in iTunes once it finishes. I used Firefox 4 and it downloaded without timing out once. All you have to do is hold down Shift and then click on Update in iTunes and it will prompt you to select the update that you downloaded and it will apply it.
    Try this and let me know how it works!

  • Yosemite Mail Connections to the server on the default ports timed out.

    I have upgraded two machines to Yosemite and I am having huge problems with Mail. It works perfectly well with my .mac mail but it does not work with my xServer running OS X server 10.6.something. I have little triangles but the mail account and I get the message "Connections to the server “mailgate.cp-lighting.co.uk” on the default ports timed out."
    Any machine running an older version of OS X has no problems connecting.
    The machine running Yosemite all have the same problems, they all have the triangle, they all receive mail but if you read it or delete it, it re-appears as unread so I can receive 20 emails read then delete 6 and a few minutes later I have 20 unread emails again.
    Worse mail in the outbox get stuck behind a queue so it takes ages to send any mail, if I look at activity viewer I can see processes constantly running "Moving Messages" , "Synchronizing Sent", "Updating Cache directory"[sent] , "changing flags" and finally "Updating Cache directory"[Inbox]
    If I go to mail and preferences/accounts I cannot edit the incoming mail server it is greyed out. I wanted to change the domain nane for the ip address of the server to see if that made any difference but it is not possible. I don't understand what Apple have done it is a nightmare.
    Is anyone else having these problems?

    Yes, my husband has had this problem too with his IMAP email account. He is temporarily using Thunderbird, which is working better, but it is also reporting lost connections. Seems the issue is deeper within the networking or security services of Yosemite than the Mail app itself.

  • SMTP timed out

    It has worked for months without any issues, send and receive. I don't have any issues receiving/reading emails. For the last week and a half, every email I send gets the following SMTP timed out error:
    "Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server smtp.me.com timed out."
    After attempting to send the same email a few times, it either finally goes through, or I will have to close the email client and reopen, so it can try and send. The fields are automatically populated, but I have also tried to use "smtp.mail.me.com". With "smtp.mail.me.com", I constantly get password popups for the initial connection, and fails. With the "smtp.me.com", it connects fine, download folders/emails. I have no issues sending with my iPhone or logging into iCloud directly.
    Steps I've taken:
    -Dumped out mail client profiles
    -Uninstalled mail client, cleaned registry, wiped left over files
    -Tried different mail clients, currently PostBox (also tested in Opera Mail, Thunderbird, and Outlook).
    -Tried different PCs
    -Tried different ISPs
    I tried to ping "smtp.me.com" and it's respective IP "17.158.8.19", both time out (they may have pingbacks disabled). Even running a tracert, it leaves my building, my datacenter, hits the Apple datacenter in LA, hits the Apple datacenter in SJ, and times out afterwards.
    My information:
    -On a PC.
    -Firewall is off entirely.
    -No virus scanner installed.
    I'm a tech junkie, with sysadmin experience. Complicated solutions welcome.

    Hi,
    Does anything show up in the logs surrounding this?  Do you have SMTP scan enabled in AV?  If so, do FTP attachments work when that is disabled?
    Thanks,
    Brandon
