"Timed Out" message trying to play .mpg files on my STB

I recently downloaded the new version of Media Manager that plays videos. I have a lot of .mpg files from home movies taken over the years. They all play in the Media Manager on my PC, and the thumbnails show up on my TV with the Home Media Center STB.
But when I hit "OK" to play an .mpg clip, it first says "wait for up to 15 seconds for file to load" and then says "timed out; try again".
The Media Player menu that shows on my TV has a "FiOS Sample Video" (a 20 second clip that starts playing about 3 seconds) that plays without any problem. The home movie .mpg clip I tried to play is a 12 second clip, but it always times out.
My PC is six feet from the Verizon wireless router, but I don't know what the bandwidth is to the STB. My Internet service is 20/5, but when I test it I get 10/2.
What am I doing wrong?

i heard you have to rename certain files to play. try renaming it to mpeg instead of mpg

I see. I understand Cisco just recently released this model in the market so probably there would be more tests to be done for further isolation and come up with a fix solution if proven to be really an issue. I guess for now we'll stand by for updates and just make the best out of Cisco's one of the top of the line routers.

Trying to play a video on CNN for my school class. Warning message recieved; Vidoe has timed out while trying to play. Please be sure to check that plug ins are not blocking java or flash player.

I can play videos but not the ones I need for my classroom. I cannot get them to play even though I unblocked everything java and everything flash player I could find. I would love a solution to this problem asap! Thank you very much.

FYI for the rest of you that might be having the same problem. DON'T USE A BELKIN ROUTER WITH AOL ON A MBP!!!!! It ***** wirelessly. or even hard connected, it won't connect. I went to best buy today, and got a refund on the belkin. I then went to J&R and got a D-Link router. And now it works perfect. I can now chat on AOL yet again, and I tried all the other web browsers I have and messengers, and warcraft 3 online via battlenet. And it works great. I want to give you guys a special thanks for taking time out to answer back to my post. FYI! Belkin wireless G routers do not connect you to AOL wirelessly on MBP's. No matter how much you mess around on them. I highly recommend a D-Link Router. They are easy to set up as long as you READ ( AND I MEAN IT!!!) read the instructions before you set anything up on it. Use the CD that it comes with, and you'll be good to go. Set it up and it works great Almost no dead zones in the house, and now I can use the MBP with all it's cababilities. Thanks people. I really appreciate it.
P.S. I called belkin last night when i decided to get a refund on my router for today and when i talked to the tech, after puersuading him to tell me the truth. And stop BS'ing me, he broke down and admited that AOL does not work wirelessly on MBP's. So to make a long story short this time, There you go. And one last note, I'm very happy now with my d-link router. I honestly thought it would suck. Not being a brand name router or anything. But amazingly, it works like a brand name item! I had the same problem! I don't know what caused it, possibly slow Internet but I suppose my antivirus or other software could have affected it. Maybe it's an iTunes problem.
After restarting the download at least 5 times in iTunes after it timed out, I found this website. I didn't know this before, but you can download the update in your browser and then apply it to your iPhone in iTunes once it finishes. I used Firefox 4 and it downloaded without timing out once. All you have to do is hold down Shift and then click on Update in iTunes and it will prompt you to select the update that you downloaded and it will apply it.
Try this and let me know how it works!

My husband forgot his apple id password but the system won't allow him to reset it - keep getting a timed out message. Help!

Of course, after he'd tried to reset it, I found the original password. But that now doesn't work and we can't reset the password. We can't even "find" the ID. We keep getting a timed out message, no matter what we try. Since he has no working Apple ID, I'm using mine to ask this question. Possibly relevant - he is NOT a big app user. I set up the account for him when he first got his iPhone a couple of years ago and he has only a few apps installed. So the card details may have expired but, of course, he can't update them either. Why do I keep getting a session timed out message?

Mac OS 10.4.11, iTunes 9.2.1(5). I successfully ordered two iTunes gift certificates the other day, but now when I try to place an order for another gift certificate, complete the info and click continue, the session timed out message appears.This has been happening for several days. I have emailed iTunes support, my account is valid, but support has no answer for the problem. I am able to download and play free music, etc.

Safari can't play mpg files any more. (I have to download them and play them with QT Player.) Instead, there is a vertical black stripe with little white dots in it.

Don't trash the original Quicktime (10) app, you'll be sorry if you do. Quicktime 7 Pro does not add playback capability to videos. Right click on a video and pick Quicktime Pro 7 from the open with menu.
If you wish to use Quicktime Pro 7 to playback all videos when clicking on a video, get info in the finder for the video... scroll to open with... pick the open with drop down menu... pick Quicktime 7.... and hit the change all button.
If your still having problems playing back your videos please post back. We need to find out what kind of mpg video files you have...

Unable to download 4.3.3 timed out message

every tjime I attempt to download 4.3.3 I get a timed out message.

I'll keep an eye on this thread. I've been having the same problem since the weekend. I can download the whole lot but then times out when it processes. I've tried downloading only rather than updating but I still get the error and the whole download (that's taken 30 mins to download) dissappears.
I'll try the disable sugestion but I've never had these problems before.

I'm having the same issue. After opening Audio Midi Setup in Utilities I noticed that the master volume slider of the Built-In Output is very low. I am not able to slide to get any more level out of the system.
Can you adjust the master volume on your system?

Keep gettting "Session Timed Out" message

Hey everyone. I am trying to retrieve my email from my .mac account. I have to use my web browser (safari) to get email because of work router. Though I can log into my email and see I have messages, when I click on them, I immediately get a "session timed out" message, even if I just logged in. Nothing has been changed on the work router, and it worked fine yesterday. Any ideas?

Frequently takes a full minute to get to first page. Happens on IE as well as FF, also on my email client. After an hour or so, Thunderbird can no longer reach my email,with an error. To recover I have to reboot.

Some tools which access the web take a long time to “update”,
is hard to recreate have not proven or disproven the firewall is a problem. Don't think WinXP firewall is on.
