Timed out, server application never registered to receive message

Hello. So, It's been a while since I last used iMovie, and now I'm having a very difficult time of it sharing to anything or even saving a version to disk. It won't even save to Theater! Each time I do, it gives me the exact same cryptic message: ""timed out, server application never registered to receive message" - and that's even when saving to disc, and not saving to ANY exterior source.
Since I can't find any mention of this message on Google or Duck Duck Go, I am calling upon alla y'all. So, the details on my system:
Macbook Pro, 13-inch (early 2011)
2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
318 gigs of storage, and yeah, it's about 3.8 gigs left, even with an 500 gig external hard drive running concurrently..
Version of iMovie is 10.0.6.

I am experiencing the same issue and it's getting annoying. I can't logout or shutdown normally.
iMac, 24 inch, 2 GB RAM, 10.5.7, 500 GB drive with lotsa space left.
Here is the message in system.log when I try to logout and the dock stays as described above:
Jul 30 09:17:40 new-host loginwindow761: ERROR | WSActivateApp | SetFrontProcess({0, 1655188}) returned error -600. Unable to activate process.
Have tried the same fixes as above (repair disk, repair permissions, archive & install). No joy. Any ideas? Thanks!

• Registering iPod nano - Session timed-out even though already registered

Having purchased a new iPod nano, when connecting it to iTunes I received the screen to register the nano with the options to Never Register, Later or Continue. I chose Continue but received the message 'Your registration session timed-out'. I registered through apple.com but now every time I connect the iPod I get this same screen and always the same 'Your registration session timed-out' message. Can anyone help me get past this screen ?

Actually, I've got this working. I had already tried resetting my Nano (take a look at the ipod support page at http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/ and lookup how to reset your ipod ) before and nothing doing.
However, the other day, I resetted it again and now my Nano is working fine! I got the 'registration' page and I selected 'Never Register' (although I have already done so via the web site) and can now update my Nano properly. I wonder if I didn't reset it properly last time - I can't think why else it didn't work last time. Ah well, try resetting and see what happens.

• What causes "Timed out server" in WL Cluster and a question about session in WL Cluster

Hi.
We are using Weblogic 5.1 with SP 8. We have been encountering a problem in our
clustered environment. We setup our (clustered)environment to have 3 instances(WL1,
WL2, WL3) of weblogic running in one box. When one instance, let say WL1, responds
to a request(1st request for a session), the session is binded to that instance
till the session is terminated/expired. Which means succeeding request for that
session can only be served by WL1(we tried stopping WL1 but WL2 and WL3 wont accept
the request--which only causes the page to time out). Shouldnt it behave in such
a way that other instances can get serve the request(failover)?
Also, occasionally we encounter "Time out server" in one of the instance of WL.
When this happens, that instance no longer takes in requests. Would anyone know
what causes "Time out server"? Does it only happen in clustered environment?
Need some help ASAP.
Tnx in adv.

What do you have in front of WebLogic for Load Balancing?
What are the IP addresses/hostnames of your three instances? What hostname are
you using in your http requests? Is your DNS configured to do failover?
Make sure that you have session replication turned on. See the edocs.bea.com.

• Connection timed out, but diagnostics show I can connect OK. ***?

Problem: iTunes has recently crapped itself. I have no new software of changes to make. I am running the stock XP Firewall, and iTunes was checked fine. I unchecked and rechecked to no avail. I ran diagnostics and all seems well. I am using Symantec Endpoint Protection, but have been running that for years. I even made a new HOSTS file, but I still have no luck getting to the store. I actually want to conduct commerce here, but cannot. This seems to be a huge issue of late and I need your help.
Firewall Information
Windows Firewall is on.
iTunes is enabled in Windows Firewall.
Connection attempt to Apple web site was successful.
Connection attempt to iTunes Store was successful.
Secure connection attempt to iTunes Store was successful.
Secure connection attempt to iPhone activation server was successful.
Last successful store access was 2008-07-08 13:19:45.

I don't have an answer, but I thought I'd back you up by saying that I've had exactly the same problem. I received the same diagnostic messages.
I have tried completely disabling Norton Firewall (where I had already allowed complete access for iTunes and anything that looked remotely related) and turned of the Windows Firewall without any luck. I could launch a basic browser and navigate to the iTunes website manually, but from within the iTunes app, I continue to receive the "unable to connect... connection timed out" message.
I also uninstalled and re-installed iTunes. This appears to have made the problem only worse in that now when I run the diagnostic, it returns the following:
Active Connection: LAN Connection
Connected: Yes
Online: Yes
Using Modem: No
Using LAN: Yes

iTunes has never successfully accessed iTunes store.
This is incredibly frustrating. I have done many searches for the problem and found several bits of advice: clearing the DNS cache, clearing history and cookies in IE, etc. I've tried all of these to no avail. I would like to now deauthorize the system iTunes is currently on and set it up on another system, but without a valid connection to iTunes I can't even successfully deauthorize the computer.
I've seen several other forum posts over the past couple of years regarding this problem. Seems like Apple could have, by now, consolidated the responses and provided a straightforward troubleshooting document.

• '500 Connection timed out' Error in Sender SOAP Scenario

Hi mates,
I exposed o/b synch MI as a webservice. This webservice is received by a BPM and it triggers an IDOC generation program on R/3. BPM waits & collects the IDOCs and cosntructs the response from these IDOCs and returns it to the webservice caller.
I'm making the SOAP call from a client program and I get the correct response in some cases where the data requested is not huge...normally with in 30 sec.
But in some cases I get the error '500 Connection timed out' after 60 sec. The detailed message is as follows.
500 Connection timed out
Connection timed out (-5)
Error: -5
Version: 6040
Component: ICM
Date/Time: Thu Jun 15 17:06:10 2006
Module: icxxthr_mt.c
Line: 2551
Server: hcidx1_DX1_03
Detail: Connection to partner timed out after 60s
My BPM waits for 10 minutes and I set the parameter XI.Timeout to 600000 (i.e. 10 minutes) in module parameter table for the sender SOAP adapter as per the note 856597. And in SXMB_ADM, I set the parameter CHECK_FOR_ASYNC_RESPONSE_TIMEOUT of category SA_COMM to 600. In my client program, I set the timeout as 1 hour. All these config params are supposed to make sure that all the components involved wait for atleast 10 mins before they timeout.
But I get timeout after 60 sec. Whats wrong/missing?
I highly appreciate your inputs.
thx in adv

Hey Praveen,
I'm making the SOAP call from a client program and I get the correct response in some cases where the data requested is not huge...normally with in 30 sec.

does this mean you are getting some response in some cases where u r payload is small , and if its large ur getting some timeout like this? Also is ur scenario Sync / Async?
Assuming i understood correctly , i came a similar situation but that has to do some thing with Paging file / memory issues when the files are too huge and no. of users are high please let me know if this is the case.

I have found that previously existing Norton suites (even after they have been successfully uninstalled) can come back from the dead and block certain network resources. I recently came across a Vista system that had just this happen after an iTunes 8 update. Running the Norton Removal Tool restored access to the iTunes music store.

HI,
This is not a problem in ur mapping or configuration.
This is a problem with JDBC connection. This is a common error, that generally comes when the DB server is receiving and processing numerous records. Connection time out or socket read time out.
First try this:
In ur JDBC adapter go to Advanced Tab Page and check Transaction Isolation Level as Serializable.
If still problem persists then take help of basis guys and increase the timeout for the connection, same thing can be asked from DB team.

• Home wireless network keeps "timing out." Help!

I currently have an eMac with a wired connection to an AirPort Extreme base station that creates a wireless network in my home with Time Warner Road Runner. I also have an Airport Express that acts as a relay station.
For some reason lately, the wireless internet connection is S-L-O-W and often I can't load a page and get the message "network connection timed out, server may be busy." The wireless signal is excellent and I've restarted both the Base Station as well as the Express but no luck. I use a G4 PowerBook and my wife uses an iBook and the problem occurs on both
The wired connection works great.
Can anyone help me figure out what's going on? Thanks for any help.
Sunil
PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I'm running into a simiar situation with Time Warner Road Runner. I have 3 PCs with a wired connection to a linksys router that creates a wireless network for my MacBook.
For the first 4 days the wireless network worked great. I could access the internet from anywhere in the house on my MacBook. On the 5th day I couldn't connect to the internet on my MacBook. I've power cycled the cable modem and the router, updated the router firmware and even called Apple Care. No one has an answer. Like you, my wired connections work just fine. And the wireless signal is great. The MacBook can see the wireless network and get on it but cannot connect to the internet through it.
I believe it may be a DHCP lease renewal issue for the IP address. The MacBook doesn't show an IP address in its Network Configurations for the router. My network locations keep resetting their port priorities to bluetooth instead of airport and everytime I do a diagnostic I get a message that says "another program has changed your network configurations, click ok to continue". But I don't have any answers.
Maybe someone out there does?

• BPF Operation Timed Out

Hello,
We are getting the following error message on our BPC 5.1 SP1 system when running a Business Process Flow (after selecting a BPF and defining members):
"The operation has timed-out"
The strange thing is that this message does not appear with user-id's that were created several months back, but with new ID's that were created recently. Users are being assigned to different teams and can view only certain entities.
Our environment consists of 2 web servers and 1 SQL server. Have you guys seen an error message such as this before?
Thanks,
Nikunj

Usually this is a problem with security setup for that appset or for that BPF,
Regards

• 2.2.1 download timed out

I have tried three times to download and install the iPod software update 2.2.1 and have been unsuccessful. Each time the software downloads and the download appears complete (the circle with the arrows disappears, the horizontal bar marches up to 277.7 MB then disappears, etc). But then nothing happens. I wait and I wait (one time it was more than 30 minutes) and the install is not initiated even though my iPod touch is still connected and appears as a device. Then, if I click another item in the left hand panel of iTunes, I get an error message that the server timed out. When I close the error message window, the download selection disappears from the left hand panel and the file is no where to be found. When I click "Update" again on the Device menu, the download starts again from the very beginning.
Any advice to help me resolve this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Jim

I have the same problem. My "update" did not successfully install, so now I'm stuck w/ my ipod touch showing the cable to iTunes icon, but iTunes doesn't recognize it. I've tried reinstalling itunes, reinstalling the drivers, and following several other posts without success. Has anyone been able to resolve this?
