Timed out using .Mac

I am being timed out even when composing an email in .Mac which seems to be part of .Mac security. Can I increase my "timed in" quota? What happens to the email I am in the middle of composing which did not get sent.

No. You can't increase the "time" of your session.
Plan ahead. Compose your reply or messages in another app (TextEdit or even Mail) and use copy/paste to speed up your session.
Your session time is only based on "activity". When you go "idle" it times out.

Timed Out using iPad

When using GoodReader App on the iPAd to access our Mac server from another location I get timed out, any suggestions?

I would suggest....
1. Going to Settings>Safari, and then deleting cookies and data
2. Then going to your home screen. Double click the home button, a shelf should appear at the bottom of the screen. - Hold your finger on the first app on the bottom shelf until it starts to shake. Once they are shaking, tap the Red circle with the white minus sign in it in the upper left corner of each app on the shelf until they are all closed. Note - this will NOT delete the apps, only close those running in the background.
3. Restart the device (hold sleep/wake button until you see a red "slide to power off" slider. Power down iPad. Then when screen is black, turn back on normally.
4. Try again.
5. If issue persists, if you have a cellular model, you'll probably want to try using cellular data instead of wifi to connect, turn Wifi to OFF in settings>wifi, then try again.
6. After this go back to settings>wifi and turn it back on
7. If using cellular didnt work, try again, now that wifi has been turned off then back on.
8. if still doesnt work, reset network settings, (will need to reenter you wifi passcode if you do this). You can reset these by going to Settings>General>Reset>Reset network settings. This will restart your iPad so dont be alarmed.

Oracle database is 11.1.0.7 on SUSE Linux 64-bit.
Since the application which runs on MYSQL DB only offers ODBC driver on Windows platform, so I installed the 32-bit ODBC driver (from ServiceNow) on a 32-bit windows server (driver download from http://wiki.service-now.com/index.php?title=ODBC_Driver) .

if listener is not listening to the service, then the tnsping on the windows server should fail as well.
I don't know why only the tnsping from Linux failed, is it due to the 32-bit ODBC uncompatibility with 64-bit oracle server? or my configuration problem?

Browsers are not quitting on log out using Mac OS 10.6.8.

When logging out of user accounts, my browsers are not quitting properly (I'm getting the spinning beachball) and I have to force quit them to complete logging out of the accounts. It happens whether I'm using Safari 5.1.7 or Firefox 13.01. I haven't noticed it happening with any other open apps. It doesn't happen every time either. Any idea how to fix this? Never had it happen before I upgraded to Snow Leopard from Tiger.

Try Starting up in Safe Mode
That deletes system caches that may help especially since you upgraded from Tiger to SL.
Keep in mind, a Safe Mode takes longer than a normal boot so be patient.
Once you see the Desktop, click the Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Restart.
Try a browser. If the same thing happens again, the startup disk may need repairing.
Launch Disk Utility located in /Applications/Utilities
Select the startup disk on then select the click the First Tab.
Click Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permisions)
If necessary, click Repair Disk.
Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks
While you have the DU window open check to see how much free space there is on the startup disk. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
You'll see Capacity & Available at the bottom of that window.
And make sure S.M.A.R.T Status says Verified

Get videos to post w/out using .mac

Does anyone know how to get videos to upload to your site?
I already had a url and hosting and don't need a .mac account.
After about a week of playing with fetch I finally got my website to connect and now run online. However, my videos did not post. Even though I saw them upload to the ftp server.
How can I upload my videos and get them to play? Is there some kind of text edit I need to do? If anyone out there knows I would really appreciate it.

Have you tried running them from the folder on the Desktop before uploading to the server? If they play there them the issue is with the server and not iWeb.

If you mean a retail disk (black with a silver X on it), then no. The retail DVD is for PowerPC only. You can't install it on an Intel based Macbook Pro.

"The network connection timed out" Update/Restore using iTunes

Can anyone help with this problem. Ever since IOS 7.0 was released, iTunes is so broken when it comes to updating the software or restoring iPhones. Everytime I try to restore or update I get the error "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone. The network connection timed out." after waiting for the 20min download. For one thing there is nothing wrong with my network connection it's fine, I cannot access the itunes store the whole nine yards, it's just when I need to update or restore the phone. It takes 20 mins to download then it gives me this stupid error. I have tried everything I've seen on the forum that others have tried with disabling virus scanners and other 3rd party software and nothing! The funny thing is, it happens on every computer in the house, even my Mac notebook, so it seems like it's tracking the Baja network connection, but I don't have any problems with anything else we are using, it's just with iTunes. We were using OpenDNS, so I removed that from the router and I still have the some problem. Does anyone know a way around this problem. I am so ready to bail on apple products. Frustrating....

Did you make sure it was the exact file for your device and the latest version? I just downloaded the latest file for my iPhone4, put it in the folder I mentioned above and it ran the install versus downloading the file. This problem where it times out after downloading is a big Bug within iTunes that has been there ever since IOS 7.0 was released. I wished these apple developers would just fix iTunes. There are a ton of complaints about this issue. I sure miss Steve Jobs running this business, I really feel like it's gone down hill after he left.

I am not even sure how to remove these programs to see if it helps.

Starting earlier today, this also became my problem - can receive but not send in Entourage. The account settings are correct in Entourage - I even created a new account. My Mac running 10.7.5 won't read the original Office : MAC 2008 disk, so I can't do a fix or reinstall from the disk.
This is not an issue if I log onto the Comcast site.
And so, I started using Mail but, unlike Entourage, Mail won't import my Entourage info.

Network connection timed out during iPhone4 update to ios 7.1.2 in iTunes on mac mini

I've tried several times to update my iPhone 4 to the iOS 7.1.2 update using iTunes on my Mac mini. Each time, after about an hour or two, I get the message that the network connection has timed out. I don't have any security software installed, so that can't be the issue. I have the most recent version of iTunes, so that can't be it either. I can't update directly on my phone, because I don't have enough space left. Any suggestions as to why the network is timing out??

Whenever i try to do anything in the Mac AppStore, i get the message Your session has timed out. Try again.
I tried with and without two step verification. It all runs on a MacBook Pro and Yosemite - no updates available in the store to install. Updates, although with a workaround do install, weirdly enough.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

Eject the iPad, quit iTunes, restart the Mac and reset the iPad and try again. Use another USB port on the Mac if you have a free one to use.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad start up.

Just confirming, when you have the trouble, the wifi icon is grayed-out or has all bars showing? I believe you are saying that is is grayed-out - not connected to your wireless router.
I have a Mini that started to lose connection to the Internet after the 10.7.3 update but still showed the wireless as connected. If I pinged the wireless router, I would get a quarter of the packets failing to return. The router was a Netgear that supported 802.11N connections. As a test, I set it to 802.11G (54MBps) maximum and the Mini worked fine for a week - no dropouts. And for the other devices that did support 802.11N, while there was a noticeable delay with downloads and pages loading, they still worked.
As another test, I changed the Netgear router to a Billion 802.11N model and the Mini has not had a problems since. (It is still using 802.11g). So it could be your router that is causing trouble for your Mac.

I have been using Google Notifier for Mac for over 2 years. For the last few days, I has been unable to connect. I get the error "Timed out." My internet connection is fine. Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions?

Problem was on Google's side. Working better now.
