Timeline and External Video issues

Have an issue with output. My external video is not showing up to play from the timeline. I am getting neither audio or video. Have checked all firewire ports, used 2 different monitors, 2 different decks, 2 different firewire cable and even tried it without the external hard drive. It shows in the view menu that all frames are checked and the output is set to the correct monitor. Refreshing the external devices does not work either. Ran FCP Rescue. Still did not fix the problem. The Canvas window is sized to fit in the window. Capturing video and audio works great. Just output and monitoring it while editing. Can I get an answer. It is the latest FCP, 6.0.2. Is this a problem with the new quicktime 7.3.1?
This is an emergency. Any help would be appreciated.

You can't monitor SD without a 3rd party card.
Perhaps you mean the material is DV?
You don't send DV material directly to a monitor - you send it out via firewire to some sort of DV/analog conversion then to a monitor.

Aja Kona LHI external video issues

I have Afters Effects CS5.5 and a Kona LHI, and I am unable to turn off or change the settings of my external video preview. It is always outputting 1080i. This started when I upgraded to CS5.5 and Mac Lion OS. I have the same hardware as when I had CS4 and Leopard and never had this issue. Final Cut Pro is outputting fine and I have verified my AJA Kona setting are correct. Any help would be appriciated.

After hearing from AJA I reinstalled the KNOA drivers and now Final Cut Pro or Premiere will not output through the KONA LH at all while AE is open. When AE is closed everything else works fine. This is the error message I received from Final Cut Pro 7.
"Unable to open the specified Video Output device.
It may be in use by another application, incorrectly connected or may be conflicting with a sound device."

10.5.6 Update and External Monitor issues

I'm starting this new Thread in response to several people like myself who still cannot use an external monitor with a Macbook on this latest update. I did write to Steve Jobs about this issue and I received a call from Ireland assuring me that the graphics update would be incorporated into the new upgrade before Christmas. It clearly hasn't and, in the meantime, I replaced my hard-disk with a 320 Gb and installed Leopard up to 10.5.4 and was back in business. Now, I'm back to square one and can't use the monitor. So I will be writing to Mr Jobs again in the hope that someone takes notice that some of use Macs in a professional capacity. We're in a deep recession and the last thing we need right now are silly issues of this nature.

I'm not sure what to make of this at this point. I ordered a CTO 2.8GHz with 4GB RAM and 320GB HD the day they were announced. First week or so, few if any problems. Then the "UHF" like bands of static began to appear randomly. I use my computer 90% of the time driving an external monitor. I use a separate set up at home and work with duplicates of all cables. The problem occurs on both. I spoke with Apple Care - they patched me over to support and moved me up to Tier one pretty quick, even had me send in my System Profiler information for every combination of screen and graphics card. Then they emailed me a program to capture my monitor info again with every combination of screen and graphics card. No solution. They finally asked to "capture" my computer for their labs and sent me a new one.
Once again, about 2 1/2 weeks of smooth sailing and bam, same issues now occurring. If it's a driver issue, why is everything fine for so long? Also, 10.5.6 and the new firmware have failed to address. Given my above exchanges with Apple, they certainly can't claim they don't know about it.
I've been using Apple Products for a long time. I've seen some real buggy stuff - like when File Vault first came out but this is the worst I've experienced. Seems like poor quality control. If it's a select few machines, I appear to have won the lottery as I've had two of them.
I'm sure this issue is much more wide spread as it is a non-issue if you only use the internal display. Only people consistently driving an external display will even know there is a problem.

Audio and (sometimes) video issue after Win 10 Upgrade - Split X2 laptop 64-bit

Any solution to the Audio and Video issues on Split X2 laptop after Windows 10 FREE Upgrade?? I'm sure others are have the same Audio/video problems: - very slow, Repeating audio and video on YouTube and Netflix playback....totally unwatchable- speakers work fine- everything was working great on Windows 8.1 there must be some kind of driver upgrade for IDT High Definition CODEC BEATS audio... is there a work-around until the real problem is fixed? I have downloaded and installed the HP recommended IDT Audio Driver using the HP Assistant. The current installed IDT High Definition Audio CODEC driver is: STWRT64.sys 6.10.6498.0 The laptop was rebooted but the problem still the same.....Audio is garbeled and impossible to understand the words...video seems ok when playing Youtube videos. My Split 13 X2 product id is: E2S66AV BIOS F.27

Dock Icons and desktop video issue

I downloaded Lion yesterday and ever since, the destop background is blurry in some areas and when I scroll across the docked icons I get black backgrounds each icon I scroll across. It almost seems like my video card cannot handle the graphics. However, it does seem to work fine if I use the solid color option under desktop and screensaver. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Video Lags Behind Audio in Preview Pane, Timeline and Rendered Video

I'm having an issue with a six minute video that I grabbed from the media browser in Premeire and am attempting to use in my timline. The first few mins of the 6 minute video is fine, but as the video progresses in the preview pane the video starts lagging behind and finally towards the end is probably half a second behind. The mp4 file plays fine outside the confines of Premeire. I've tried reloading a new file, etc, but nothing seems to work.
Also, I uploaded another file that works fine. No audio lag. However, the file that works I grabbed from my Kodak flip camera, the file in question is from a Flipcam. The file that works is a .mov. As I mentioned, the file with the lagging audio is an mp4. It seemed to work fine before in other projects. Also, I noticed that lately that Premeire is a bit slow. It wasn't as slow a week ago.
I'm using an iMac with a 3.6GHz Intel Core i5 processor with 4MB level 3 cache, 1 Terabyte of disk space, 4GB of ram, ATI Radeon HD 5750 graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5 memory.
I'm not sure if there's some setting's that I'm missing or what. I'm not very clear on capture settings when I open a project. When I opened the project I was a little confused about what settings to use.

Leopard server and external DNS issues?

I am trying to setup a new leopard server for a school with the internet being streamed in from the local borough with filtering for the students via DHCP with a range of 10.x.x.50 - 10.x.x.200. I have all their details (IP, subnet, router) inc their DNS settings. Now I want to create an OD master but am going insane with DNS as the new layout is confusing things. I am using the primary zone name "schoolname.internal" and giving it the manual IP address of the ethernet card 10.X.XX.XXX, I can ping clients around me but the server will not resolve correctly, I am using the external DNS settings provided by the ISP as forwarders.
I will admit that I am still getting my head around DNS and would really like some more details into how to configure Leopard for this, Why can't I use the internal IP address setting of my server for the DNS?
Plus do I need to have DHCP running on the server for OD in Leopard if it is being given by the external borough supplier ?

Ladies and gentlemen, I have the answer.
I stumbled across this accidentally when I was playing desperately in the Finder trying to get some inspiration about this issue.
The problem doesn't lie in the clients... it lies in the Server.
Here is my solution:
1. In the finder, right-click on the external drive, and select "Get Info".
2. Under "General", there should be 2 little check boxes, "Shared Folder" and "Locked".
3. Click on "Shared Folder" to put an X in it.
Thats it!
For some reason Time Machine setup didn't share the folder and so the client machines recognised it as a shared time machine backup source, but couldn't actually find it on the network because it wasn't shared.

Premiere Pro will crash when rendering part of timeline and cancelling - common issue?

There have been times where my timeline was red- so I chose part of the timeline, hit enter to render, and then realized it was going to take too long so I cancelled out. However, every single time (when I hit cancel, not "x"), it will tell me that Premiere Pro crashed and close the program. Can anyone replicate this? Is this a known issue? I didnt see it reported anywhere. It is not random. I can anticipate it happening every time I do that.

None at all. It's the strangest thing. There are times where I will start a render, not realizing how long it will take, change my mind, and try to cancel and it happens. I may just need to resort to reinstall the application if I can if no one else is experiencing the same issue.

Droid X2 camcorder crashes and other video issues...

Just got the Droid X2 a couple weeks ago. It's a great phone, but the camcorder app is incredibly frustrating. It often records about 20 seconds of video before freezing. The videos are then either corrupt and won't play, or just today I noticed one of them will play, but at twice the speed before freezing up.
I noticed issues with the camcorder on my Droid and Droid X, and now the Droid X2. I'm using a 32GB SD card for all my media so I don't lose what I've recorded with the other phones. I read somewhere else that if corrupted data is in the gallery, that leads to other images or videos becoming corrupted, so I formated the card at one point but that didn't fix the issue.

I'm not using ArchLinux anymore since May, but I saw this thread from other forum (www.elotrolado.net) so I came here to explain you where is the problem
It's related to NVIDIA drivers and JDownloader icon in the system tray on KDE4. Just disable the icon in the system tray from the JDownloader plugins and the problem won't appear anymore. You can find more info here: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=133913
In order to run JDownloader at least one time to disable it, you can remove the system tray from the KDE panel, run JDownloader and then disable the plugin. You can also configure the system tray so it hides the JDownloader icon by default, and then disable the plugin.

try visiting this Adobe page — does it show that some version of Flash is currently installed on your MacBook Pro, or does just a grey box show? If it’s the latter, then you’ll need to install Flash; instructions to do so can be found further down on that same page.

IPad and Itouch videos - issues

Question 1: I bought videos using my pc and downloaded to my itouch. Now when I click on some of the videos, I get the display "cannot connect to wi-fi". But I do have internet and am connected. I don't know why it is saying this. Some of them I can play. Also, how do I know i have the video on the itouch and not just in the cloud?
Question 2: I then purchased an Ipad. I tunes music transferred to Ipad but the videos are not transferred. How do you transfer videos to an Ipad?

Firefox Crash and green video issue

Bright Green & Purple Flashes in Timeline and Final Video

I'm getting a lot of random bright green or purple flashes. In the flash the frame is be flipped upside down. It's happening in a lot of sequences. It even shows up after I export. I don't export until it completly finishes rendering.
I use Final Cut Pro X with a Intel Core i7 iMac.
I shot the video with a Canon 5D Mark III.

I presume you are using one or more plugin effects in your sequences. If so, unfortunately this is a bug. The simplest way around it would be to render directly to Compressor for any sequence that is showing glitches.

External Video Playback Problem

When viewing material in the source viewer playback on my external monitor randomly freezes. The playback on my edit display is fine, only the external playback has issues. This started happening after upgrading to 7.
Content is DV and timeline and external display set to match.
Using ATI Radeon X1900 XT.

HELP... My external video freezes when ever I use my external 1920x1080 monitor. Everything was fine prior the upgrade to FCP 7.0.1 or maybe even 7.0 The previous thread said this is a known issue. Do you have any links to Apple addressing this problem or is Apple aware there is a problem? It started happening to my system back in middle of 2009. I thought the solution would be to upgraded my video card from a 256 NVIDIA P345 to ATI RADEON 1900 with 512 ram. This made it less jerkey but the problem is still very hard to live with. Can anyone shed some light on this issue? Thanks in advance.
