Timeline help

I am working on a flash site where, there is a bit of
animation at the beginning and some graphics come into frame. There
are four buttons that will jump to various parts of the timeline
when pressed. My question is, how can I make the graphics which
have moved onto the stage, initially clear away after a visitor
clicks the FIRST navigational choice AND THEN NOT cycle back to
that point after each subsequent navigation choice.
Basically there is a cloud graphic which comes up and
obscures part of the stage and the button animate into place at the
beginning of the swf. I would like, after the first button/nav
selection to invoke the cloud to animate off the stage for good (or
until reload) and then the stage would be clean for any of the
other "pages" (points on the timeline) that a user may choose.

For some reason, when I export from FC in to Color, I
can not see whats on my timeline. The timeline is
there but, I thiink my clips are far far down and I
can not seem to bring them up on the timeline??

Flash MX - Grey stage and timeline help!!

Hi there i have enconuntered either a bug.. or a problem with
my flash work.
I use Flash MX 2004 on a Mac at college, to do my work. I use
Flash 8 at home on my Windows computer to do my college work.
In the early stages of my project, I could use Flash 8 and
save as Flash MX 2004, then it
would open fine at college. But now.. if i save as Flash MX
2004 and open it at college,
the timeline and the stage would be greyed out! HELP!! I have
no idea what happened, one
day it works, then the next day it doesnt.. and it's been
like this for a long time.

ps. yes i have tried copying the frames + layers to a new
file, i have tried saving as different filename... it's weird
because it opens up on Flash 8 at home fine, but in Flash MX it's
all grey.

I can't drag clips into my timeline - HELP!

I am working on a project at the moment and I am having issues with dragging imported clips into my timeline. I click on them to drag them down but they go grey and stay put! What is going on, can anyone help me as this is quite an urgent project.

What happens if you drag them to the clips viewer instead of the timeline? (Click on the small film frame next to the small clock at lower left before you drag.)

Expanding Clips on the Timeline - Help with new problem please.... (pic)

See pic below --- Never had this problem before. Any clip that is in my ongoing project won't expand more tha 1 second when trying to drag... what did i do wrong? It's doing this now in other projects as well....

* Any clip that is in my ongoing project won't expand more than 1 second when trying to expand/trim (using selection tool (V) making sure none other tracks are selected).
* I was able to trim/expand these clips before Wednesday (2 days ago).
* Only happens on other version of THIS project (previous saved/copy versions) -- all sequences, all clips.
* Thinking that this has something to do with the track selector tool. In my project, I was cutting/editing sections out (around 1:00 min in sizes) from the timeline and then using the track selector tool (A) to move the entire project (the clips that are in front of the section cut) back in place (1+ hours of edited clips). I did this at least 20 times - in 20 different areas of the timline (successfully) until the proble occured. Leading me to believe it has something to do with that.
Just throwing it out there that I know how to go back and forth between (A) and (V) and that I've been using premiere for 9 years (since 6.0) and I know most of the ins and outs.

Photoshop cs6 animation/timeline help

I am trying to learn how to do a small animation. I have Timeline window open at bottom of screen but do not understand how to get images into the space. Everything is grayed out. I have read the Adobe tutorial but nothing really says how to place keyframes into the timeline space. I watched a YouTube video but it started with there already being an image there and then they showed how to copy and change it so an animation could be achieved.
Could someone tell me the first steps, from the beginning, to get things set up right and have something to adjust and set times to ,etc.
I have spent awhile now playing with it and decided to ask for help.

Each object must be on its own layer.
For this example lets create a shape pick any of the shapes in the tool bar, just make sure you are using shapes which is found in the top tool bar.
Click the create video time line in the animation panel, this should create a timeline for each layer.
Before each layer in the timeline panel is an arrow, click on it to twirl it down.
Lets use position for an example. Location the word Vector Mask Position for that object and click on the stopwatch
Move the timeline head along the timeline to a new time (any new time will be fine for this example, just make sure its more than 15 frames just so its slow enough to see moving. {This will also depend on the distants traveled in the next step})
With the move tool selected (lowercase v - keyboard shortcut) Drag the shape elsewhere on the document. This will create the end keyframe.
Just below the frames in the animation panel is a slider at the beginning and the end of the entire animation. Dragging the little gray box at either end adjusts the start and end work area. Drag the end work area box towards to the end keyframe. This will stop the animation when the shape stops moving. You will see it snap at that keyframe.
Hit the space bar to play your animation. If done correctly you will see your shape move across the document.
Your animation panel should look similar to the attachment. Don't worry about getting the same end timeframe as mine, as it is only an example.

Timeline Help (clips dropping to lower track)

I've recently switched from FCP 7 to 10. My normal workflow for 7 was to get a few multicam tracks (these tracks have already been synced with Plural Eyes and the multicam clip has been inserted into the Main Sequence) on several different tracks. Track 1 would be one style of shooting (i.e., hard light), Track 2 would be another style (i.e., soft light) and Track 3 would be a different style. This way, I could quickly look at the 3 different tracks and know which style I was dealing with. I would use the blade tool and make edit points and click and drag the edges of the multicam clip to match the track below or above (see image):
I can't seem to do this in FCP X. In FCP X, I select the clips that pertain to the style of shooting, syncronize them, then place them in the timeline. I do this with all three styles of shooting. Using my blade, I can't drag the edges of the clip and create gaps. The only way I can create gaps is if I "LIFT FROM STORYLINE", but then if a gap is created, it falls to the track below it.
Clearly I'm doing something wrong.

As Tom suggested, Multicam is the way for you to do this. You can position your clips just where you want them and tweaking as you do in your video is dead simple.
I strongly recommend you watch the Ripple Training Multicam Turorial.
There is a small fee, but it's more than worth it.

Need a simple DVD from my timeline - help

I jst got CS3. I need to burn my timeline sequence as a simple DVD for viewing. Its suppose to be quick screening copy or someone to view from there dvd player. Jst a simple push play and view is all i need! I dont really care about quality but.... whats is a good preset setting that wont take long to encode or burn? Note that my video content is at 720p / 16:9 / 23.976. SOmething quick any easy would be nice. The preset settings are kinda over whelming as im not to sure wat is wat.
please help!!!

another question... all my footage is at 23.976. Wat should i have my dvd frame set to? The default is set to 29.97. Shouldnt it be 23.976? Or does it do that 3:2 pull down stuff?

Problems expanding still in timeline help

We are importing a series of still images made in Photoshop into FCExp. Some stills will only expand a certain amount in the Timeline as though they were being limited to a shorter duration than we want.

Hey everyone... as the mysterious fig that is the apple shipping department sways and confuses all of us, i would like to see if anyone might have some possible answers. first off. if anyone who has recieved theres after ordering online would be so nice as to post a timeline of how their order got from apple to their house that would be super helpful to all of us. plus what shipping did they use... sometimes i know they use DHL but i heard fedex is what they use now. and around what time did it arrive at your hosue and did you have any option to PRE SIGN so they can just leave the package?
last but not least a personal question. i ordered my 16gb touch on sept. 13th at 1108am. it changed from not yet shipped to, PREPARED FOR SHIPMENT, yesterday, (saturday sept. 22)... anyone have a clue as to when i might be recieving my touch? based on timeline? by the way i live in new jersey. i know people are gonna be like be patient... the problem is i have ran out of things to do in preperation for my touch haha... i finished adding album artwork for all artists.. rating all my music. converting all my movies... correcting song titles... grabbing lyrics. making wallpaper... im done haha just waiting on the countdown now... thanks guys.

I cant help you with the timeline because i managed to buy my pod touch at my local apple store!
But II did notice what you had managed to do for preparation. THere is one thing that you can do that you did not mention. That is going into your web browser and organizing our bookmarks into folder and making them really manageable because you can sync those bookmarks to the ipod touch to make surfing the internet on the safari app really easy. Also on a side note the ipod touch cannot display lyrics. THat is something i read and learned about in a review. THen when i actually got my ipod touch it was right there is no lyric support. If you want to save space on the ipod touch you can delete the lyrics and get more room on the memory.

Can only see first and last frame of clip in the timeline HELP PLEASE

Hi, my first time and I did look for an answer, but can't find one. I have premiere elements 4 and I am trying out ver. 9. In ver. 4 the clips in the timelin shows all the frames, but in ver. 9 it only shows the first and last frame of the clips. Is there any way to make all the frames show. By "all the frames", I mean the clips fill with frames.I liked to see all the frames in the timeline, it is easier for me to select and trim the bits out.
My specs are Core 2 Duo 6750, Nvidia 8600GTS, 4G Ram, Vista Home Premium. 3 HDD 3TB.

As for the GUI, PrE had one more like PrPro (the early versions), up through PrE 3. With PrE 4, they streamlined the GUI (and some of the operation), and went with the "dark look." PrPro went in that direction starting with CS3, and now, the two programs' GUI looks more alike - darker. Personally, I like PrPro 2.0's brighter GUI. Now, one can alter the brightness, but the contrast can work against doing much of that - give me the lighter GUI....
The look of PrE 4 thru PrE 9 is very similar, though things have moved about some. Still the look is similar. Same for PrPro CS 3 through CS 5.5.
As for the trial, things have changed in PrPro, as of CS 5.5. Once, the PrPro trial was very crippled, but had no watermark. No more. No crippling, and still no watermark. The trial for PrE is far less crippled, but does have the watermark. We do not know what changes might be coming with the trial of PrE10. We will just have to wait and see. One great option that Adobe offers is the 30-day, money-back guarantee. If you buy Premiere (either flavor), and use it for 29 days, but do not like it, then you return it for your money back. This is the full-paid version (both flavors) with nothing crippled, and no watermark. Not that many companies make such an offer. Basically, on can use the trial for 30 days, to see some of the powers of the program, and then buy it, and try it fully for another 29 days. If not completely satisfied, they get their money back - essentially a 59 day trial.
Were I doing AVCHD, I would definitely look at buying PrE 9, and giving it a 29 day shakedown. The only caveat is that AVCHD requires a lot of computer "horsepower," and not all computers (especially if more than a year, or so old) are up to that task. I find it amazing that a consumer format, like AVCHD, requires more computer power to process, than most professional formats, until one gets up to, say RED 2K/4K. However, that is the nature of the H.264 CODEC, and by that, I mean all H.264, not just the AVCHD version.

Seeking sequence timeline help, please

After some CC update -- the audio tracks of video clips aren't staying connected to the video clips in the Premiere Pro CC sequence timeline. Meaning, if I grab a video clip in the sequence timeline and move it somewhere or cut it -- the corresponding audio track just sits there and doesn't move or get edited. This results in a new nightmare of having to move the audio and video clips separately on the sequence timeline. Relative to previous versions of Premiere -- I'd described this problem as all audio tracks not linked to their corresponding video clip.
Yes, they're all "linked." That appears to have no effect.
I'm assuming some new feature was added that I don't understand -- and I'm very, very grateful if anyone can tell me how to solve this issue and get back to the wonderful world of truly linked video-audio clips.

The obviouse first question is do you have the "Linked Selection" activated "Y" (its the one next to the horse shoe magnet symbol in the timeline pane). If that's not toggled to on you'll get the behaviour your describing.

16:9 Footage and 4:3 Timeline--Help!

I've got Final Cut Express HD and just finished a project using 16:9 anamorphic footage. For some reason it's 4:3 in the timeline. And when I export as Quicktime it's also 4:3. When I look at the info for the footage, anamorphic is checked. Is there a way to change the timeline to 16:9? I really need this project to be widescreen, since that's how it was shot.

Changing the sequence settings doesn't change clips already on the sequence.
Now that you have your sequence set to anamorphic, select all the clips on the timeline, ctrl click and select Remove Attributes. In the dialog that pops up, check Distort under video. Make sure everything else is unchecked and your clips should pop back to the right anamorphic setting.
Now, if you're exporting an anamorphic timeline for the web, you need to force the aspect ratio when you export --- Quicktime Player doesn't read the anamorphic tags.
If you're exporting for DVD Studio Pro, don't worry, it will recognize the anamorphic movie.

IMovie 10 Timeline help

I have several clips on the timeline, how can i save each clip as individual movies?

Any clips in a timeline must also appear in an event. Right click each clip and select "Reveal in Event". You can select all or part of a clip in an event and share to file.
If you want to access your originals select your iMovie 10 library with the Finder. Right-click and select "Show package contents" You will see a folder for each of your events. Open the relevant event folder and you will find a folder "Original media" In this folder will be your original clips.
If you have edited the clips in the timeline (trimmed or other adjustments) and you want to save these versions, you will have to copy each clip into a separate new project and export these to file.

Button with link (linking within timeline) Help

I'm very new to Flash (using CS3).
I created a button instance out of text but I don't know what
to do next. I'd like for the button to link to a different place in
the timeline of my website.
Right now, when I click on the text link and go to actions,
it says "current selection cannot have actions applied to it". I'm
also not sure what the script should read and if all the script
goes into one "actions" layer or separately.

The button that I'm trying to create right now is the "print"
button which would bring up the section with the clickable
thumbnails that you see on top. It's my first time using flash. I
already placed everything in the document. Should all the different

a website (my previous experience is only web banners).

there is no one answer to your question, "Should all the
different links just be different places in the timeline"?
they can be. that would be the simplest navigation scheme.
you can check the interactiveobject class for examples of how
to apply mouse listeners and use the goto methods of the movieclip
class to cause a timeline to change frames.

Flash Timeline help

I set up a file with 147 frames that was supposed to be 7s at 21 fps. When I exported it the swf file ran over 7s. And when you played it in flash and watch it count the seconds it counted to 4 then dropped back to 2 before continuing to count up to 7. Any ideas what might have happened?
