Timeline/moments out of sync between macbook and iPhone

I have many old photos which where scanned in periodically throughout the past 10 years. They were showing up dispersed throughout the timeline, showing up at the date and time that I scanned them in. This was super annoying since the Moments view was hard to peruse since it had so many photos thrown in out of time.
I finally got all my scanned photos modified to an arbitrary point of jan 1 1990 by using the "Adjust Date and Time..." command. Now they all are nicely tucked up at the top of the Moments view.
The problem arises when I sync my iPhone using the iTunes 'Sync Photos' option (I'm not using iCloud at all for my personal set up). The photos sync over but it completely disregarded the arrangement I had set within Photos for Mac. I un-synced and tried again, still same problem: they were all dispersed into the Moments timeline according to date/time of scan.
Whats even crazier is that I even used the SetFile terminal command to manually set all metadata 'Created Date' to jan 1 1990. I cleared the phone and re-synced. Still same problem! It somehow kept the old scan dates, which completely muddies up my Moments timeline.
I'd say this is a bug needing reporting to Apple unless some one out there can show me my mistake, and maybe its really simple.
Thanks in advance,
cheers,
-Davis

  • Notes won't sync between MacBook and iPhone/iPad

I have my MacBook, iPhone (5S), and iPad (Air) all set up to use the same iCloud account but some of the notes won't stay in sync between the MacBook and IOS devices. Both of the IOS devices stay in sync with each other, but changes I add on the IOS devices doesn't sync to the MacBook and changes on the MacBook don't sync to the IOS devices. Any ideas? I am a new Mac user and can't figure this out. I have read many of the related forums and the answer is almost always "they won't sync if the notes aren't in the iCloud folder" but that isn't my problem. The notes are in the iCloud folder but still won't sync.
    Any ideas?!

Back up any notes on your Mac that have not been synced to your other devices by opening each note clicking that arrow icon on the bottom right, choosing email this note, then email it to yourself.  When you're done, go to System Preferences>iCloud on your Mac, uncheck Notes, restart your Mac, then go back and check Notes again.  Then add a new test note on your Mac and confim that it syncs to iCloud now.  If so, recreate any missing notes by copying and pasting the text from the emails you sent earlier into new notes created in the iCloud account.

  • Hotmail not syncing between MacBook and iPhone/iPad

I'm 3 days into my new MacBook Pro, which replaced a PC laptop running Outlook.  With my old system, I coud check my Hotmail account in Outlook, and the messages would no longer be marked as new on my iPhone/iPad, and vice versa.  With the MacBook, my iCloud email syncs well between all three devices.  My Hotmail remains in sync between my iPhone & iPad, but not on my MacBook.  Is there any way to fix this?

No, Hotmail can only be accessed via POP3 on your Mac. Pop accounts do not synchronize. Microsoft provide Active Sync services on a mobile device but chose not to for Macs.

  • IMessage not syncing between MacBook and iPhone

Normally, my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.4.9 w/ standard hardware) and my iPhone (iPhone 5 running iOS 7.1.2) sync iMessages perfectly. Recently, I turned my MacBook off for the weekend and was messaging solely through my iPhone. When I turned my MacBook on again and launched iMessage, I noticed that the conversations were not synced between the computer and phone.
I've already tried the fix suggested here, and I got the notification, but the conversations didn't update.
All messages sent since the MacBook was turned on again have synced between both the phone and computer, but messages sent during the weekend only appear on my phone (the device used to send them). Any suggestions?

    Hi,
You are leaving conversation "open" (still displayed) in Messages when you Quit ?
If you closed off all the chats and conversations in Messages you will need to re-connect to the people involved for the app to then display the previous part of the conversation.

    Solutions?

No, I never really found an easy solution.  I believe it is an issue with some corruption in the iTunes database on the specific device.  In my case, both my iPad and iPhone now show duplicate stream songs if viewed through iTunes on my Mac, but they show different songs.  A couple years ago I had a similar issue on my iPhone, and Apple support suggested I back up the phone, completely reset it, and then restore it from the backup.  It did work, so I imagine it would probably work for my current issues with the iPhone and iPad.  But resetting and restoring an iPad or iPhone always makes me a little nervous that something will get lost.  When I did reset/restore the iPhone, I do have to say, the restore process was 100% perfect and I did not lose any data at all even though Apple support said I might.  If you try to go that route, I would suggest backing the device up both to a computer through iTunes, and to the iCloud so that you have a double backup.
None of this really resolves the issue with how the iTunes databases are becoming corrupted on the apple devices though, so it is very likely to happen again until they fix it.  I have been unable to determine if there were any specific actions or conditions which caused the corruption to happen in the first place.
Might be worth another call to Apple support, or dropping in the local Apple store if you have one near by.

  • Photos not syncing between Mac and iPhone since update to Photos on Mac.

Ever since I updated to Photos on my Late 2013 macbook pro retina, photos are not syncing between it and my iPhone 6. Both are updated to the most recent software update. Photo stream is on. Does anyone have this problem or know a solution?

You will have to go the the Photos tab in iTunes when you connect the iPhone.  Then reset the photo sync options.  They were reset with the upgrade to use iCloud by default, but you can change the settings back to sync folders, just like before.

  • How to sync Ibooks between Macbook and iPhone?

Hi, doesn't anyone knwos how to sync my library between Iphone and Macbook?
    Thanks
    Carlo

I created an empty collection in iBooks on my MacBook, then synced with my iPad, and nothing seemed to happen.  I did the Home button double-click on the iPad, killed iBooks, then went back to the MacBook and synced again.  The new collection then showed up on the iPad.  Might help.
...and from another thread: Select a book or collection in iBooks and press the Delete key to delete it. There will be a warning/Cancel/OK dialog.

  • Sync email between macbook and iphone

When I delete emails on my macbook and then sync my iphone, why do emails deleted on my macbook still appear on my iphone?

Synching mail on a computer and an iPhone doesn't synch the actual mail, but rather the account settings.
As to why you're deleting emails on your macbook and yet still seeing them on your phone is that you most likely have a POP account, and not an IMAP or Exchange.  This is a function of the type of mail account you have, not of the synching between the phone and computer.

  • How do I selectively sync contacts between MacBook and iPhone?

I see several posts mentioning select groups, etc. in iTunes. But when I enter the "Info" tab in iTunes, the only option (radio button) available is "All contacts;" "Select groups" is greyed out.
Wait - my MacBook Pro's Addressbook doesn't seem to allow me to create any group to start with. Any pointers?

This is most likely an OS X Address Book question.

  • IMac me email not syncing with macbook and iphone

Changes to my emails, e.g. receiving a new email, reading a new email, deleting an email, are syncing on my iphone, macbook and on icloud.com, but not on my imac. I have a brand new imac and am using my me.com email account. I have set up all 3 devices according to the standard settings available on apple support pages.
Somewhere something is out of place, but I can't fathom what. All other data, including calendar and address book, is happily synched between all devices and icloud.com.
    Any advice gratefully appreciated.

No, but you can go to your email provider's site and set up forwarding for your current email address to your new one.  That would allow not to miss any email while your friends are changing their contact information for you to your new address.  I did that with my old ISP POP account when I switched to iCloud email.  Just set up forwarding and inform everyone of your new address.

  • ICloud doesn't sync between mac and iPhone...

Hello all. I have an iphone 4 and I macbook pro which I have just upgraded the OS to OSX Mountain lion.
I have never really made use of icloud before, but intend to start using it as I intend to get an ipad soon.
I have gone into icloud on both my mac and iphone and ticked on everything for icloud. However, nothing seems to really sync. My notes don't go between devices. As far as I can tell neither do my photos.
The only large file on my icloud seems to be backups. However, the only thing in this folder seems to be the back up folder...which only seems to contain infinitiy blade data.
Any help as to where I'm going wrong?
    regards,
    Matt

I don't want to trust the iCloud, so I want to sync my PERSONAL Notes on my iPhone (4) just with my iMAC (via iTunes), and not saved in iCloud.
Yes iCloud is great for syncing/saving common data, but I want to choose what I sync and if I choose not to save in icloud than I want to have the possibility to save it elsewhere.
Now with Mountain Lion it is not possible anymore to sync between my iPhone and iMac
More and more companies are going to say/dictate "This and this is good for you!"
Please Apple, take your Customers serious and let themselve choose what good for them is!
    Thanks in advance!!
    P.S.,
if there Apple-Customers who have a solution for syncing Notes between MountainLion and iOS please reply! (Thanks)
