Timeline problems.

Hello, I have a strange problem I've never seen before.
I added chapter markers to my completed movie and saved the changes.
When I play it back now there is a silent re-playing of the film (from about one third of the way through the movie) after the end credits where the screen should be black.
The timeline shows no change to the length of the movie or any additional clips (there is nothing for me to delete).
The playhead marker now disappears off the edge of the iMovie pane as it follows the running of this repeating film.
The movie was fine before I saved these chapter markers. Any ideas about what I can do to get rid of it?
MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Hello, Kmog,
Welcome to the discussions.
Did you follow the rules regarding chapter markers?
No markers at the beginning of the movie or within 2 seconds of the beginning or the end of the movie, and no markers on or within 2 seconds of any transitions?
With iMovie closed, try deleting iMovie's preference file and see if that helps: Home/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imovie.plist.

  • Loading timeline problem

Im helping a friend with encore.
Problem: When I try to import a new footage as timeline, the loading bar goes all the way up to 100% 1 time, Then back to 0% and begins again. When it reaches 40% the second time, the bar stops and the computer freezes and encore stops working.
This happens with any kind of codec in any size. So he ends up unable to use Encore at all...
What I have tried: Deleting media chace and restarting computer.
    Did not fix problem.
What I itend to do: Reinstalling encore

  • Importing Assets and Timeline problem

Hello I have just purchased and installed Encore DVD 2.0 (inside Production Studio), so I am a novice. I have several movies/ shows/ etc. I created by using the Record TV in the Media Center Edition 2005 software. I've converted the DVR-MS file type to Mpeg2 using Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.0/VideoWave 7.0.
Using Encore DVD 2.0 I tried Importing MPEG2 file using Import as --> Assets and Timeline. It looked like the importing was moving along the progress bar reaching approx. 3/4 point. Then it restarts the importing process again reaching the 3/4 point again stopping with a popup box appears with the text message, "Stream Requested Does Not Exist". When I click the "Ok" button the importing process stops. What can I do to get Encore DVD 2.0 to work properly? Am I doing anything wrong?
My Computer is a HP Digital Entertainment Center Z555 using XP Media Edition Center 2005.
Intel Pentium 4 processor 530j with HT technology
    2.5 Giga PC3200 DDR Memory
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 PCI-Express graphics card
250GB 7200rpm Serial ATA hard drive

As far as I'm aware, Nero is just fine as long as you don't create DVD-Video with it, as there was a bug with this when it seemed to not set the correct start sectors for the IFO & BUP files.
It's just fine for burning from ISO images, and for all other tasks though.
And that bug may well have been squashed by now.
Lots of people use Nero with no troubles at all - it's not my personal choice, but that means nothing.
It's certainly far superior to Roxio.
I'm actually quite surprised that Roxio & Nero are actually playing nice on the same system!
The only possible other "Gotcha" with Nero is the packet writing utility. Do not install this - it can and does interfere with burning DVD, as Packet writing works by helpfully "looking" at your burner(s) on a regular basis to "see" if there is any blank media inserted, and it will offer to format this & use it as a drag n drop type writing utility. It's called "InCD", and if already present should be uninstalled.
There is a list of stuff that is known to cause problems - some occasional, some constant - with DVD authoring at
Neil Wilkes, "Things and Software to avoid when authoring for DVD-V" #, 13 Feb 2006 6:43 am
Additionally, the utilities included with Nero are generally of a much better standard than those with Roxio.
Nero Recode, for example, has been praised in many forums.
There are a lot of users who swear by Nero, whereas there are a lot who swear
    i at
    Roxio!
    Hope this helps.

  • CS5 Animation Timeline problems (display/graphics glitches)

In CS5 12.0.5 x64 I use the Animation Timeline to create frame by frame animations and most of the time it works fine. However recently I am encountering a problem with the display. The problems seem to happen whenever I make a selection with the lasso and do a Free Transform (it especially doesn't like rotations). The 'marching ants' along with the entire display seems to freeze up and not respond. Clicking other layers will not change the 'frozen' image until I make a stroke with the tablet or mouse, then the image refreshes to the new selected layer, but stays frozen in the same way, and so on. The animation in the timeline will not playback through the frames/layers once this happens and I have to restart the program. Then the bug happens again as soon as I make another free transform. It doesn't seem to affect all my files, only certain ones where I use the Animation Timeline.
I have an i7 processor with 12gb of ram and an EVGA Geforce GTX 560 Ti with the latest drivers. I have OpenGL turned off and have deleted my preferences.
Here are my performance settings (this may be the problem?):
    I Let Photoshop Use 6319 MB (58%)
    My History States are 65
    Cache Levels are 4
    Cache Tile Size is 128K
    Scratch Disk is just C:\

It kind of sounds like a memory or video driver issue. What resolution is your document set at?
Mylenium is correct. When creating frame based animation each frame is linked to a layer. So to animate the motion of the selected portion it needs to be on new layers as it moves (each time you rotate or move, create a new layer. The smaller the increment the more layers needed, but will produce a smoother longer animation). The stationary portion(s) don't need to be on new layers because they are not moving and can be seen due to the transparent areas around the selection.
    I hope that  makes sense.

  • H264 MPEG AVI import video timeline problem

    Hi,
I am a new user of Adobe Premiere CS4.  I am having a problem of importing H264 MPEG AVI files.  I set my project to be HDV 720p 30fps.  I grabbed Gspot and it has identify my video is a H264 codec name H.264/MPEG-4 AVC.  When I import the video I setup the timeline and when I do a playback review in the far left window (default setting).  It play the vido super fast, but the audio is playing normally.  I zoom in the timeline and it seems to think each second is one frame.  So it is playing the video like 30x speed(not 100% on how much faster, just lot).  What am I doing wrong?
After playing around some more, it looks like the video are keyframes as the time jump from frame to frame is huge, not what it look like in a WMP.  Did I somehow imported and it stripped out the deltas?

I looked at the thread and tried it, I get this error.

  • Premiere Timeline Problem

My Timeline in Premiere will not allow me to drag any contents into it. The area turned black. I got the black region to look a little more like normal, but I still couldn't drag clips/files into this container (bottom right area). I even created new project/sequence and all files now are set up this way. I literally cannot edit with the way it is. IMAGE ATTACHED! Please help

F1, the same way you and I learned what ti is.
Hmmm. Well, I think Craig, you and I and many others around here may be the exception, not the rule.
I believe I can speak for a few of us when I say we study the new releases and therefore catch the nuances of some of the changes. Even though I personally seem to miss a few now and then. We do this to remain useful on these forums, and to squeeze every last drop of value out of the money we pay for our software. We end up knowing how to do a bunch of stuff we will never actually use. But on the off chance that we might use it one day, we will have it in our arsenal when we need it.
But because Premiere Pro is supposed to pretty much do what other NLEs do, my guess is that people coming from other products are expecting the same general terms to be of use. L Cut, J cut, trim, timeline, etc.
An experienced FCP editor might think that they should be able to sit down and start using Pr CC without much hassle. Especially if they set the keyboard shortcuts to what they are used to. That experienced editor may may just start reading or watching tutorials when they come up against a problem that think they should be able to solve. Most of the time they find it, I believe. And when they don't they seem to like raising a ruckus on this forum. But notice that most of them are asking for something that they searched diligently for first.
Now, let's look at the new Adobe user. The ones who pay $50/month or less and get every product. All of a sudden we are seeing transfers from iMovie and Windows Movie Maker. Those people who should possibly be using Premiere Elements, which, for reasons I can't pretend to understand, are not part of the Creative Cloud. Those people are used to a program that leads them through the process.
I have occasionally used Windows Movie Maker in order to help some users on this forum. It certainly didn't require that I study it first. My training in editing, almost all of which came from this forum and the Creative Cow and Curt Wrigley, just allowed me to start right in and get to work. But if I had been looking for a sequence instead of a timeline, I would never have gotten past step one. Although, actually, if you import assets into Movie Maker they automatically get placed on a timeline/sequence and I don't even see the name of the thing at all. But I digress.
It is those people that I think we need to help. And I think that the right place to start is the Eagle project. I believe it is the best piece of learning material Adobe has ever put together for a beginner. It is short, and sweet, and produces a specific result.
If we all pointed in the same general direction, I think it would be more helpful than pointing to the Pr FAQ for many people. That's all I am really trying to say. Let's band together a bit, point in the same direction, and maybe things will be better for a lot more people.

  • Dreamweaver template/timeline problem

Hi, someone may have an answer or suggestion to a problem which has occured.
Quite new to DW so forgive my ignorance. I have created a site in DW CS3 using templates. I want to create a piece of animated text in DW, can do it in flash but would prefer to learn DW way. I have used method of creating ap div layer, but have only been able to work this way successfully in blank page. When I insert ap div in template page in editable area. the timeline function remains completely greyed out, it will allow me to insert div however does not allow me to amend/change attributes. Is the ap div/timeline way best way to animate text in DW or has anyone any better suggestion. I’ve uploaded temporary page http://www.design2.ie/test/index.html. Hoping to put 4  pieces of text in right blue panel. Sorry if I’m doing something stupid, appreciate your help.

    Hi Kcelsi
I too have found that you cannot create a template in DW and then upload it to BC easily, as you are experiencing, you need to create a blank template in BC first, download it to DW, work on it and re-upload.
Somehow the templates folder in the BC site is not available to add files to in DW as easily as the stylesheets folder. So I download the templates folder from BC in DW.
To create a template for a web site I do the following in
    1. In BC back end go to the templates area, and create a blank template.
    2. Set up the site in DW, and then download the template folder from BC. You will then have the blank tempate you created in BC on your hard drive and can work on it and re-upload to BC. BC will then see it as a template file and it will be available to apply to pages. Notice that it is a .html file
    3. Start a blank template file in DW, and copy the code. The blank BC template you downloaded won't have any of the code you need like the HTML declaration at the top in <head> etc.
    4. Copy the tag_pagecontent tag from the BC template  you downloaded, and put it into Notepad. (BC won't recognise your file as a template if it does not have this tag)
    5. Copy all the code from the blank DW template you just created, and paste it into the code view of your BC template. Save the file, remembering to save as .html like it was in BC.
    6. Put the tag_pagecontent tag from Notepad into the part of the template where you want your page content to be. This area is what you can see when editing web pages in BC.
    5. Go on creating your template in DW, linking it to the website stylesheet you create. Make sure the site stylesheet is in a folder called Stylesheets.
    6. Upload the Stylesheets folder and Templates folder to BC when you are ready.
Hope this makes sense and is helpful!

  • Convert to video timeline problem

I've been having this problem with the trial version of Adobe Photoshop Cs6.
Whenever I try to access 'convert to video' timeline, it's missing, and I therefore can't work with keyframes in Photoshop Cs6.
I have tried installing and uninstalling several times, and have downloaded the set-up package directly from Adobe's website, in order to reinstall again.
Adobe has given me an error about compatibility with the graphics card with my PC, but I'm not sure how to address or fix the error.
And for the record, here are the specs of my PC, in case anyone asks.
I thank you in advance for any help you can give me.
    EDIT:
Also, here's more screenshots of my problem:

Please go to Photoshop > Help > System Info. Copy and paste that here for us to see your complete system information.
Other than that, Adobe's message says that you uncheck the 'Use Graphics Processor' checkbox as the video card you're using is not officially supported by Photoshop yet.
To do that, follow these steps:
On your Windows PC, you can find 'Performance' option under 'Edit' from top menubar.
Uncheck the tick next to 'Use Graphics Processor' (2) in the image above.
See if this fixes your issue.

  • Timeline Problems! Please look.

Why can't I see my frames? Not sure what the heck I did but can't find any option to show my frames. I can expand the timeline to the left but they never show up.  This has to be somethign really stupid. Frustrated!

Took me forever to find it but I did just before you posted the reply.  Thanks. Here is a screen shot for anyone else that have this problem.  Also, you can't drag it. I couldn't anyway. I have to double click on the three lines I pointed at in the screen shot.

  • Timeline problems - another Cp5 bug?

    Hello folks,
I just discovered a potentially huge problem with timings on the timeline.
This is what I want to accomplish (approximately - exact times are not important):
    1. Text caption: appear immediately and last about 4 seconds
    2. Highlight box appears at 4 and stays until 1 second before end of slide
    3. Mouse begins to move at 4 seconds
    What is actually occurring:
    1. Text caption is LATE: It appears around 3 seconds!
    2. Highlight box is LATE: It appears around 5.5 seconds!
    3. Mouse begins to move at around 6 seconds!
Nothing on the timeline is accurate!
Another problem (easily fixable) is that on some slides, the length is oddly HUGE. Here is one that is 728s in length. Others are 45s, 134s, etc... what is happening... none of these slides are FMR!
These issues are repeated on all my slides for all my projects. Does anyone know why this is happening?
    NOTE:
    1. I am not using transistions!
    2. Possibly the most important point: All projects were originally created in Captivate 4 (I have already discovered a number of issues with converted Captivate projects)

I think you'll find Captivate is still regarded as more of a step-sister than a sister product for Soundbooth and Premier.  The interface now at least looks fairly similar, and the technology under the hood is finally from the same family.  But the marriage is taking time to sort itself out.
Maybe Cp6 will offer the kind of multiple audio track heaven you seek.

  • Imovie 11 Timeline problem

I hidden my timeline in the new imovie, and I do not know how to activate it again. Someone can help me?

I solved the problem simply by re-adding the clips back into the project. The audio now appears correctly for all the clips. Why it was missing in the first place is still a mystery.

  • DVCPRO HD 720 timeline - problem with text tool

I'm working on a long project, and now when I make new text, the text is created in Square Pixel instead of HD 960x720. As a result, they need to be rendered. This was not a problem earlier, so something has changed. How do I make FCP create new titles using the pixel correct aspect?

OK, to make this more confusing, and went to an earlier place in the timeline, found a problem-free title, laid it into the SAME TIMELINE at a later location, and it still wants to render.

  • Color FCP Timeline problem

I am having a problem sending my completed project from Color to FCP. In Color, the timeline matches what I see in FCP; however, when I send from Color, the resulting sequence is dropping clips and has randomly re-edited some.
The original FCP sequence mixes no formats or frame rates (it is 23.98), is in Uncompressed 10 bit, and has no other processing applied. (Other posts have had similar issues when mixing formats or with sequences with speed changes, but this is not the case here).
The sequence I am sending to Color is actually one long media clip in which I've placed cuts at shot changes so I can apply different grades more easily.
I see absolutely no reason for this to be happening and it's obviously rather frustrating.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue and found a solution?

Thanks for the response but the edits were made in FCP - no modification was made to the timeline in Color.
I was eventually able to find a functional workaround by taking the same source clip, putting it into a new sequence with the exact same settings, replicating the same edit points from the original track, sending that to Color, applying all the previous grading (I saved the corrections for each shot as a separate grade to do this), re-rendering the whole thing and sending it back to FCP.
A lot of duplicated effort to achieve the result I should have seen in the first place. And now I get to do the same thing for the rest of the project.

  • Log and Transfer inpoint/outpoint timeline problem

When I use the log and transfer, short clips work fine, but longer clips ( around one hour) won't work correctly when I try to set in and out points. The marker on the timeline jumps way to far forward. It makes it impossible to pull clips, and, on another note, the video and audio end up out of sync!  I shoot concerts as a hobby and I'm trying to get shows put up on youtube and get dvd's made for bands. I'm pulling my hair out trying to finish these. Any help?
    Thanks!

Hmmm...I have been able to work with both 24p and 1920x1080 footage, but only if the video is about 15 minutes or less.  I haven't noticed an issue with the red render bar either.  I know what it is, I just haven't had that problem.  I downloaded Streamclip, but every tutorial I find is for using dvd's.  I've tried adding my AVCHD clips, but it tells me its an "unsupported file type".  Obviously, I'd doing something wrong, I'm just not sure what.
What kind of file am I wanting to open with Streamclip?  I'm very new to this, so I'm sorry for what is probably a very obvious answer.
    Thanks again for the help!
