Timeline scrolls by itself on dual monitor system

Here's a minor (but somewhat annoying) issue maybe someone has an idea about. I'm running PPro CS 5 on Win 7 x64 with two, idential 24" screens, configured as one, large desktop, with the primary monitor on the left. Each screen is running at 1920 x1200, and PPro is stretched across the screens, so it has a long timeline.
The annoying part is that if I play a sequence with the CTI starting anywhere in the first half of the left-hand (primary) monitor, the timeline all of a sudden scrolls all the way to the right end of the screen. The CTI then has to advance for a bit before it wraps back to the left side, again. Nothing gets changed in the sequence -- it's just that the scrollbar shifts around on its own. Running the screens at a lower resolution doesn't stop this, and is counterproductive, anyway.
Has anyone else encountered this?

I knew this was going to be hard to describe, so I recorded a 7-second video of the timeline:
http://www.screencast.com/t/eiDbSJ8d1b0
The timeline you see is stretched over both monitors (it's about 1900 px wide, but reduced for this video). At 00:00, note the CTI starts near the left side of the timeline. After I press the spacebar to start playback, at 00:01 the whole sequence has scrolled to the right. You can clearly see a different section of the audio waveform is displayed, and the CTI is near the end. But then at 00:02, the CTI bumps into the end of the window, and the sequence scrolls back to where it started out a couple of seconds earlier, and then plays normally.
What I'm trying to figure out is how to prevent the sequence from scrolling back and forth like that. If the CTI had started about 25% further to the right, this wouldn't happen.

  • Saving window position at dual monitor system

    Hi!
Is it just me, or is it a bug? I use flash at a dual monitor
system an place the stage on the first and the actionscript window
on the second screen. After restarting flash, both (the stage and
the AS-window) are at the first screen.

I am having issues with it too:

  • System out on Dual Monitor systems

    Hi,
I am trying to write an application running on single processor, but dual monitor facility. So differnet monitor must get differnet display from same process.
May I know how can I capture the monitor standard output. I know we have System.out that is set to standard monitor, in this case I "think" it will consider the first monitor has standard output. So, how can I capture actual output stream to each monitor so that I can set the system out property to which ever monitor I wish.
    Thanks
    HKG...

I don't understand. System.out and System.err write to the standard out and err streams. When running Java in a command window under a GUI environment like Windows, Mac OS or Unix or Linux with X-based graphical displays, these streams will be default be displayed in the shell window that started the program. This window will be on what every display you placed it, the Java program has no control.
If the Java program is a GUI (AWT, Swing or SWT), then System.out and System.err output still goes (by default) to whatever shell window started the program or into the bit bucket if no shell windows as associated with starting the program.

  • Problem on dual monitor system

    Hi;
I have dual monitors and put Eclipse on the right monitor full screen. When I move the mouse over a variable, the pop-up is displayed in the left monitor.
    ??? - thanks - dave

I've a similar problem. But actually my problem is very common; I've seen a lot of programs showing this.
My monitors are arranged as [2][1]. That means the primary monitor is on the right while the secondary is on the left. But most programs suppose that we have [1][2]. This is a very very bad assumption.
So when the application window is placed on the secondary monitor, ie on the left, popup, tooltips or other things would appear on the right ([1]) !
Nitrox is, unfortunately, one of these applications.

  • Premiere Pro CS5.5 Won't Play Timeline or Any Media W/ Dual Monitors

    Hello ,
I've recently ran into a Problem with Adobe Premiere CS5.5 , I decided to resort to the Support Forums to see if someone has an idea. I've been using Premiere for around a year , i've never had an issue like this before. Its a great editing tool and one that i'd love to continue using in the years to come!
The problem i have , is that when i open up a timeline any timeline that i've created/saved. I press Space which is the Hotkey for play , However it doesn't seem to play the video in either of the two source monitors.
I did a little digging around the internet to see if i could find any solutions , According to one person it may be an issue with the Video Drivers installed on my computer? After reading this , I Updated by Video Drivers however this hasn't fixed my problem? Do i have to enable the drivers or will be laptop automaticly switch to the new Video Drivers.
I usually edit with a second monitor which has been working fine. When i disconnect the monitor from the Laptop , And just edit using my Laptop , It works fine. I'm just wondering if someone has a Solution , Perhaps someone may have had a similar problem than me?
Thanks again! I look forward to finding out what's happening with my Copy of Premiere.

  • ScreenSaver on Dual Monitor System

When the screen saver kicks on, if does not adhere to the same rules as wallpapers do. Wallpapers treat each monitor separately, meaning the same wall paper is applied to each monitor.  When I select the picture screen saver (that shows a slideshow, the pictures ALWAYS orient on the top/left corner of the left-most monitor.  It seems to me that this is wrong.

There's an app for that, 2nd Screen Saver runs an independent screen saver on the other screen(s)!

  • Can I use dual monitors in Premiere Elements 10?

I've been using Vegas Movie Studio until now. And I wonder if I even in Premiere Elements can use dual monitors. Not just to pull over the viewing part of a screen. But watch the movie in a small window on one screen with the timeline and still have the movie in full screen on the other. As this (in Vegas Movie Studio).

Yes, you can use dual monitors with but a few little tweaks, perhaps some tweaking of the OS (what OS are you using, BTW?) and then a tiny bit of work in PrE's Workspace.
In PrE, you will want to Undock Panel Headers, and this will allow you to drag almost all Panels, to suit your needs. Note: the Timeline's position is locked, but I think that is the only Panel, that behaves that way.
Now, you might need to set up your display in your OS's Control Panel>Display, but that should be easy, and has probably already been done, if you were successfully running Vegas in the dual-monitor environment.
I think that just Undocking Headers will get you where you want to go.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - others might have a few more tips for you. While I run PrPro on my dual-monitor system, I only have PrE on my laptop, and PrE has a few differences, and limitation, than does PrPro. Trust what others, like John T, Steve and Neale tell you.

  • Dual Monitors on Late 2011 17" MacBook Pro

    Hello:
I wanted to do a dual monitor system for work; I have two 24" Apple Cinema Displays -- as you know they come equipped with a Mini-DVI I/O along with a mag-power, and USB 2.0 I/O.  I found a Matrox DualHead2Go Digital ME [http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/dh2go/digital_me/] as a possible solution, the issue I am having is that Apple has not made a DVI-D I/O on a Cinema Display since the 30" Display many years ago.  The Matrox product is new, and touts that it is Apple friendly but I cannot (for the life of me) find a cable/converter to go: Mini-DVI (female) to DVI (male) to make this work.  So, does anyone know if this cable exists, and if it does, where can I get it?  Or, does anyone know if someone makes a product that will allow dual monitors (NOT stretched desktop) that will go Thunderbolt/Mini-Display Port to Mini-DVI so I can get true dual monitors on my MBP so I can run it in clamshell mode on my desktop?
Just as a FYI, I am NOT interested in going to a USB solution as the refresh rate and resolution would not be good enough to warrant consideration.
Thanks in advance for all of your expert help and opinions!

The only way that you can use both a SSD in your drive bay and another hard drive is to install the hard drive in your optical bay. If you're willing to give up your optical drive, OWC sells kits to do just that.
Then you could use your external drives for data storage & backups.
    Is this a workable option?

  • Java Dual Monitor Support

Hi I am trying to write a presentation package that uses a dual monitor system for it's display. The first monitor should hold an overview of all the possible screens and options etc and the second monitor should only ever display the chosen screen (ie on a projector).
Does anyone have any ideas how to get control of 2 seperate monitors and tell each one to have different output as I have no idea how to do this.
If possible it needs to work on mac and pc but am happy to start with just pc.
    Matt.

    Hi Krugos,
Have a look at the GraphicsEnvironment class. That provides a method called getScreenDevices which returns an array of GraphicsDevice objects, one for each graphics device (screen, printer etc). The GraphicsDevice object will have N GraphicsConfiguration objects associated with it.
This should be enough to point you in the right direction.

  • Dual monitoring question...

    Hi,
I would appreciate any help i can get in regards to setting up a dual monitoring system on my power mac g4. I have the mirror door version which i believe has a ATI Radeon 9000 Pro graphics card (i may be wrong as i don't know much about this side of my computer) and it has two connections, DVI and VGA... I am currently using the DVI connection to run an original 17" apple cinema display off of DVI.
I am wanting to connect another one of these monitors and am wondering the cheapest way of doing this. Can i get a VGA to DVI convertor similar to DVI to VGA? or is there a PCI option?
    Thanks.

First, check exactly what graphics card you have by running the system profiler. If you're not familiar with this, click on the Apple menu item at top left and select "About this Mac" Then click on "More info" to run the system profiler. Once that is up select "Graphics/Displays" to check which card you have. Anyone advising needs to know exactly which card you've got, guesswork might lead to suggestions that don't work.
You can simply plug another display into some cards that have multiple outputs, but some will only drive one display at a time. If you have in fact got a Radeon 9000 then you're in luck. You have an ADC connector and a DVI, and you can run a second display from the ADC connector by using an ADC to DVI-converter and a monitor with a DVI input. You could also use any old Apple monitors that take ADC connections with a suitable cable, but modern displays would be a lot better.
There used to be plenty of Mac PCI cards around and any of those would work in your G4, but the problem nowadays would be finding one. I got one on eBay for my G4 and it works a treat driving a second display, but that card is no longer easy to find and wasn't the best choice anyway. Your Radeon 9000 (if that's what you have) is a much better card.

  • Stray Blob with Dual Monitors and a Stand Alone exe

    Hi,
When I run any stand alone exe that I make on a dual monitor system (XP Media Center) I get a blob (see attachment) that is stuck in the middle of the primary monitor.  I tried a very simple app and a complicated one.  Clicking on this blob will make my app run in the foreground and if my app is in the foreground then the blob will show up in front of everything else except for my app.
    I'm using LabVIEW 8.01.
    Thanks,
    Albert

  • Card to drive dual monitors

Wife has decided she wants to have dual monitors, and from what I've read, her current ATI 4350 has difficulties with that
A quick search shows that the ATI 4650 has two DVI output connectors, so SHOULD do what she wants with no problems
    Any comments?

The card has multiple outputs.  Try it before you spend any money.
Well, you win the prize... the ATI 4350 does work... albeit with a LOT of trying different options to get it all to work properly
When I got home last night wife want to try RIGHT NOW and I was too tired to go back out... so I turned my computer off and "temporarily" moved my 24 inch monitor over next to her 24 inch
I know now why I found so many questions/complaints about setting up a dual monitor system
Hardware is easy...  simply connect the 2nd monitor to the 2nd output... program/logic is NOT intuitive at all, so it took me about half an hour of clicking around to get things set up and working properly
Right now, I have borrowed "her" 2nd monitor back to check email and messages this morning, and as soon as I finish here my computer goes dark again so I can put "her" 2nd monitor back in place
Of course the good thing is... later today I go to Costco (only local store I could find with one in stock) to buy a 27 inch monitor for my side of the office

I have just purchased a xserve and I want to run dual monitors. Are there any graphic cards I can put in the PCIe slot to with dual DVI out. On the website the 1900xt is supposed to work but is a double wide and I need the other slot for raid card

  • I have a macbook and it is a dual boot system, I would like to be able to see the mac side of the system on a larger monitor.  I can hook to a hdmi cable and see the pc side, but not the mac side, any suggestions?

I have a macbook that I bought second hand.  The mac has a dual boot system with bootcamp on one side and snow leopard on the other.  I would like to be able to hook to a larger hdmi monitor so that in both systems I could see better since on the leopard side the computer has PS4.  I have purchased the dvi to HDMI accessory and purchased the HDMI to DVI cable, and can see fine on the bootcamp side, but nothing on the leopard side.  Could somebody help me with configuring things so that it will see both side?
Also on a minor note, I need to purchase a new battery for this item and don't know which one to purchase.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially with the display/monitor issue.
    Thanks Sue
ps sorry but the operating system is OS X

When you try to use the Mac side on your external monitor do you get a blank screen or do you see the aurora background?
It would help to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
