Timeline Slideshow question

I'm trying to create a slideshow in Dreamweaver MX similar to
the same style as this webpage has:
http://www.milliestuxandbridal.com/
The problem I have is that when I do create it according to this
tutorial:
http://www.adobe.com/support/dreamweaver/interactivity/slideshow/slideshow02.html
I get this message when I preview it in a browser (IE7): To protect
your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this page from
running scripts or ActiveX controls. I can allow the script to run
but I must be doing something wrong because I don't get this
message when I view MilliesTuxandBridal. Can anyone figure out how
they made the slideshow in Millie's website so that a security
message doesn't show? Should I make the slideshow in Flash instead
of Dreamweaver? Or is there another program or tutorial I should
try? Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? Thanks for any help with
this matter. By the way, I would like to make this slideshow with
10 photos and to have the photos overlap each other slightly.
Thanks again.

I am still trying to figure out the Timeline in Dreamweaver
and I appreciate the help I have received. I was actually able to
make it work with this tutorial
http://www.flawebdeb.com/septdebtip.htm
. Although it did work well after uploading my page to my webhost,
I noticed that the slideshow, which worked well in IE7 did not
rotate through the slideshow in Firefox 1.5.0.5. (I have tried it
on several computers/browsers). One other thing I am after is a way
to make the Timeline rotate images with a slight overlap of images
instead of just swapping the images. I did try using different
layers on different channels but was unsuccessful. I did notice one
other mistake I have been making and not sure which way is correct.
When I use a layer with a image in the Timeline, do I use the layer
or the image? (I did see one of each in one of my test
timelines)

  • Timeline Slideshow appears in IE but not Firefox or Safari

    I have created a looped slideshow displaying 4 photos every 3
    seconds. I created a Timeline called 'slide' that is using:
    <! <body onload="MM_timelinePlay('slide')">
    <! <div id="slide"><img
    src="images/tpl/10_Hpim0498.jpg" name="Image1" width="846"
    height="134" /></div>
    However, it appears Firefox and Safari do not know how to
    handle the Slideshow transition from Image 10_hpim0489.jpg to the
    next 3 jpg's.

    What do I need to do to have Firefox and Safari interpret my
    slideshow correctly?
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    The timeline code is quite antique (and slated for removal in
    the next
    version of DW). In its current state (written when NN4x was
    an infant),
    there are browser compatability issues. I would not recommend
    you continue
    with it.
    You'd be much better off finding and using an image rotation
    script on the
    web - heck, CS3 even has one in its snippets you can use.
    And if you want to go first class, check the
    ImageGalleryMagic, or
    SlideShowMagic extensions at PVII -

  • Iphoto slideshow questions

    I am running iphoto 9.5.1 with OSX 10.9.3 I am making a slideshow that I will eventually export to an external HD. When I make a title for the first picture it does not save for some reason...I have to constantly redue it. Why?
    I don't see an option to save the slideshow and it seems to be auto-saving which is great, but that first picture's title won't save.
    Last question...when I have completed the slideshow can I just drag and drop it into my external HD?
    thanks

    , but it only works on my computer!
    Where do you want to play it?  If you want to create a video DVD that will play on TV sets with DVD players you need to use a video DVD authoring applicaiton like iDVD. Here's how:
    Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
    Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
    Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
    Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
    To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
    Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
    The following is important only if you don't already have iDVD on your Mac:
    If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
    Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
    If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
    Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
    This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
    You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • IDVD Slideshow Question

    I exported an iPhoto slideshow to iDVD. I used the Ken Burns effect. I've got around 200 photos and it plays great, no problems but....
    heads have been cut off on three slides. Can I edit the individual slides right in iDVD or do I have to go back to iPhoto and then export all over again? That would be very time consuming.
    17 iMac FP 1.25GHz, & PowerPC G3   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   iDVD 5, iPhoto 5

    Sorry but you have to go back to iPhoto for edits. If double-clicking a slideshow just plays the slideshow and doesn't bring up the slideshow editor, the slideshow may have been created in iPhoto. Slideshows created in iPhoto are sent to iDVD as QuickTime movies, which means you can't edit them.
    If you want to make a change to an iPhoto slideshow, make the changes in iPhoto, send the slideshow to iDVD again, and replace the old slideshow with the new one.
    Tip: In map view, slideshows created in iPhoto have a movie icon in the upper-left corner. iDVD slideshows have a slideshow icon.
    Hope this answers your question.

  • IWeb Slideshow Question

    I have the following questions:
    1. I am using the photo template and slide show
    option. Within the slide show window is it possible
    to:
    a. maximise the slide show window in order to
    view each photo to the maximum window size
    b. I would like to disable the reflection option
    for photos viewed within the slide show window.
    c. is it possible to skip the photo template page
    and go direct to the slide show window?
    d. is it possible to create a scroll bar with the
    thumbnails?
    thanks so much. I appreciate any advise you can give
    me.
    Chris.

    g4   Mac OS X (10.3)

    Thank you so much.
    I had success with:
    - the reflections, these are now gone.
    - I managed to include the direct link to the slideshow page
    However, I spent some time with the settings for the slideshow window
    I think I might be doing something wrong as nothing changes.
    Also if I bypass the photo page template is it still possible to modify the settings for the slideshow window. I made these changes after I published the site to .Mac.
    Here is the section of my photo,js file:
    function startSlideshow()
    var url = slideshowURL;
    var slideshowWindowWidth = 1200;
    var slideshowWindowHeight = 1200;
    var options = slideshowWindowOptions();
    window.open(url, 'slideshowWindow', options);
    function startSlide(width, height, index)
    var url = slideshowURL;
    var options = slideshowWindowOptions(height, width);
    var slideIndexParameter = ((index < 0) ? '' : '?slideIndex='+index);
    window.open(url+slideIndexParameter, 'slideshowWindow', options);
    any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks!

  • Bridge cs3 preview and slideshow question

    Hi
    i have a question
    does bridge cs3 need cache (drive space) to preview a photo or to see my photo with the slideshow feature ?
    i mean does bridge need to render and store the photos in the database to let me see in the slideshow or browsing
    i don't talk about thumbs
    or does it on the fly?
    thanks

    If you don't need High Quality for thumbnails then select Quick Thumbnails in preferences.
    I think as soon as you point Bridge to a folder of images it goes to work caching the thumbnails and previews.  I'm using cs4, have forgotten how cs3 does it for quick thumbnails.  You could point Bridge to a new folder of jpegs and watch the rotating indicator status display at the bottom; and you might get more information by posting in the Bridge forum.

  • Creating a slideshow: Questions and Issues

    Greetings Premiere Users-
    I am completely new to using Premiere. I have been using iMovie to create slideshows but am completely frustrated by the program's inner workings.
    I have my images and audio in bins and now beginning to connect the pieces but am running into some problems.
    1. I don't understand how to setup the number of slides to the length of audio. Upon opening the Preferences panel and selecting "General" it appears that I need to enter some value with respect to "Video Transition Default Duration of "30 Frames" and the Still Image Default Duration of "150 Frames". What I don't comprehend is if I have 397 seconds of audio and 129 still images and I want to space them across the audio, what values should I use?
    2. My current project has 129 images which currently extends beyond my video. I selected the images, chose "Speed Duration", and entered 3:00 which would put my images well within the audio. The problem is that the first so many images have a space between them rather than being contiguous like the second half of them. I did select the "ripple" checkbox as I have read should be selected.
    3. This slideshow is going to be seen on a projector, is there a recommended size that I should create this in, e.g. 800x600, etc...?
    Thanks, and sorry to overload all these questions at once.
    doug

    Hey Doug,
    1.)  I assume you're editing on a 30fps sequence.  So you have 397 seconds of audio, which is 397 x 30fps = 11,910 frames worth of audio.  So take 11,910 and divide by 129 (photos) = 92 frames per image.  So in the Premiere Pro preferences, change the frame number to 92 frames.  Keep in mind, this will only affect any future images that you import or create in Premiere once this change has been made.  So you will have to remove your photos from the project bin and re-import them for the timing change to take effect.
    2.)  By selecting the ripple edit, shifting trailing clips button, this should take care of your problem.  Were the images at different time durations, or were all of them the same.
    3.)  Regarding your projects resolution, you need to find out if you want this project to be a widescreen (16:9) or standard (4:3) ratio.  Personally I would stick with widescreen since this is how 99.9% of video productions are nowadays. If this is what you want, I would create a 720p project.  This is 1280x720 and will playback nicely on your 800x600 projector.  You obviously will have the letterbox effect, black bars on the top and bottom of your screen.  If you would rather fill the projector screen, you can create a custom project and manually enter in your resolution of 800x600 (this will only work is you're going to playback the video file from a computer and not a video DVD, as you may know, DVDs res is locked at 720x480 (NTSF).  You can set up the custom res when creating a new sequence.  Or to keep things a little simplier, just create a DV 720x480 4:3 project.
    Hope this helps.

  • Very Basic Slideshow question

    I have a question about creating a slideshow -- in the Help File, it says to Save as a file, and then says that if I want the show to automatically replay, select Loop.  Where do I select loop???  When I hit Save as a File, it asks for name of file, but does not ask anything else.  I know this is probably really easy, but I am going crazy.  Can someone please put me out of my misery?

    Are you making your slideshow using the option under the create button or a web gallery slideshow under the share button?
    I believe you only have the loop option for web galleries and it also depends which template you use when you first create your project.
    The slideshow and journal templates seem to loop automatically i.e after the last photo the sequence starts again from the first until the viewer presses pause/stop.
    Other templates such as standard and animated normally stop after the last slide. These web-gallery slideshows can be uploaded to Adobe or other web-sites for on line viewing.

  • Slideshow questions - scripting and watermarking

    These are 2 separate questions, so if you'd prefer I can post them separately.
    1. Is it possible to create a script whereby when a slideshow is playing, the viewer can select a button and have the DVD jump to a specific spot in another slideshow? I will be creating 2 versions of the same slideshow and would like the viewer to be able to reference one from the other.
    2. Is it possible to watermark or show filenames on the photos which are being played in the slideshow? I know I can probably batch process them through Photoshop but I was hoping to skip that step. I was thinking that I might be able to overlay the text as a subtitle if it were properly aligned?

    Thanks for the tip. I think I can figure that part out from following the instructions in the manual. I can also get around the 99 marker limit by creating separate tracks that end jump to each other.
    Is there a way, though, to show the filenames on the photos? I know that I could create a subtitle track to overlay it, but I'd be using the subtitle track for the button to jump to the other track.
    Should I batch process them in CS4 to overlay the filenames instead? Not that I know how to do that yet.

  • Premiere Pro 5.5 timeline timecode  question

    Does Premiere Pro 5.5 output TC on HD-SDI when using Kona 3. There have been reports by users that when recording the HD-SDI output (like to a Ki Pro Mini) that they are not seeing any Timeline Timcode coming out the spigot. Any Adobe folks or others know if this is true of false?

    As a preemptory response...yes I am in touch with AJA engineers as well to try and get an answer to this question

  • Timeline ripple question

    Is there a way to apply a constant speed change to a clip and not have that clips duration update to the new length, rippling everything down the timeline?
    There are times when I need to insert a clip into a pre-produced doughnut with set clip lengths. The footage I'm inserting needs to run at 50% - 70% speed starting at my IN point. The workaround at this point is to lock all the tracks and do the speed change on another unlocked track, and then unlock everything and drag the effected clip into the space.
    Does my question make sense? Is there a way to do what I'm wanting to do?
    Thanks
    Van

    If you are happy using 50% or don't want to do any extra math, figure out the duration of the space between the two clips it will be between. Let's say your gap has a duration of 1 sec. Load up the clip you want to change the speed on into the viewer. Set your inpoint, and set your duration to 15 frames. Now change the speed in the viewer (cmd j) to 50%. Your clip is now 1 sec long at 50%, a perfect fit for that gap you have. Easy for speeds of 50%, anything else you actually have to think about the math.

  • Several timeline technique questions

    1) When you drag the end of a clip longer or shorter in the timeline, a little window pops up showing how many frames you're moving.
    Question: Is it possible to see the new lengh as you drag also or in addition?
    2) When you move a clip in the timeline up or down to a new track, is there a key stroke to lock it so it does not move left or right?
    3) How do I keep a clip on a lower layer from dissolving with the dissolve effect on the layer above it?
    4) My sequences are all set to 720x480 wide, but my title window is 720x480 standard.   Can I get the title window 'wide'?
    5) When I put a video clip on a different layer, the audio track stays on its same layer.   How can I get it to move to another layer automatically with the video clip move?
    Thanks for your help.
    iMac, Premiere Pro 5.5

    For # 5, why do you want the Audio to move? Jim has given you a method to do it, but what is the exact purpose of chaning the Audio Track?
    Remember, you can change the name of any Track, so if you do not want to see Audio 1, you can change that to "AVI Audio," or anything that you want.
    Projecting a bit, in case this question comes up, the Audio Clip's channel-count must match the channel-count of the Audio Track. This ARTICLE goes into more detail.

  • IDVD 6 / Slideshow Question

    I created a slideshow in iPhoto; then "shared" it to iDVD; then burned a copy onto a DVD. Now when I go back in directly to iDVD and select "Open an Existing Project" to select that project it's not available. Actually the filename is there (under "movies") but it's not in bold print (meaning I cannot select it). Do I have to send the project to iDVD (from iPhoto) each time I want to burn a copy? Any assistance is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Yes- you will need to edit and the resend it to iDVD.

  • Spry UI 1.7 slideshow question

    When i import the spry widget slideshowm into dreamweaver, all the photos line up on right after another right down the page.... not on top of each other...  The good news is that they show up fine when I preview in the browser.... Someone please help me find out how to make it look right in dreamweaver cause it makes it hard to work on a page that is messed up...
    also, what is the best way to insert new pictures and thumbnails, and even delete some of them.. i dont have as many pics as the widget comes with...
    thanks

    Question 1
    I never rely on the DW design view, I usually test directly in the browser.
    Having said that, there is a live view option that will show what it will look like in the browser.
    Question 2
    In design view, click on the image that you want to replace and in the properties pane change the source and the link to suit or point to the relevant files.

  • PDF Slideshow question.

    Hi! :-)
    Does somebody knows if the created pdf slideshows, can showing the images only, without having the surrounding black border?
    Can Photoshop Album Starter Edition, create pdf slideshows without black borders? How?
    If not, what program can do this trick?
    Maybe acrobat trial? Something else?
    Thanks!!! :-)

    THANKS VkSharma!!! ;-)
    It's a pity!
    I installed acrobat trial and I made the no-borders pdf, but album creates much more small sized files, so they're more comfortable for online sharing.
    THANKS AGAIN!!! :-)
