Timemachine freezes mac book pro

Question

Timemachine is completely freezing my mac book pro (running 10.6.2). The freeze happens shortly after it is done analysing the disk. I get the same behaviour when backing up wirelessly or wired. The backup is to a 1TB Timecapsule with plenty of free space. After the freeze occurs, I can't start or exit any programs, if I'm in the Dashboard I am stuck there. The mouse pointer still moves, and the clock is still running, but that is about it.
I installed Timemachine Buddy, here are the messages it reports:

I did do a complete backup to a new USB external disk, that ran to completion with no errors, which suggests to me that the problem really is with the time capsule.
That does seem suspicious.
Is there a way to force Time Machine to rebuild that Time Capsule disk from scratch?
Do you have anything else there besides the backups? If not, you can just erase it. Use the +*Airport Utility+* app, in your Applications/Utilities folder. Select +*Base Station > Manual Set-Up+* from the Menubar, then Disks in the tool Bar, then Erase.
If there is other stuff there, open the TC with the Finder and delete the sparse bundle.
