Timeout causes error 500 (internal server error)

Hello,
I am running Weblogic server 8.1.
Running a web application works ok initially, but -
After initially viewing any page, if no user activity happens for about 30 minutes, and then user clicks any link, the following error is shown:
Error 500--Internal Server Error
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
10.5.1 500 Internal Server Error
The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
My guess is there is some timeout that is causing this.
I searched the code, server settings and documentation for any kind of "timeout" value.
No values were found in the code or server settings.
My web.xml or weblogic.xml did not have any entries for timeout.
I added a value for "session-timeout" in web.xml, which I made 65 minutes in web.xml, but still no change.
Still times out in 30 minutes.
Does anyone know what the issue could be?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Faisal,
Thanks,
I looked but there is no Exception / error seen in the logs.
I looked at mydomain.log, myserver.log, access.log and my own application logs.
None of them show an error.
The only error seen is by the user on the browser (after 30 minutes idle time), which I have mentioned earlier...

  • I am receiving 2 errors 500 internal server error nginx and 404 internal server error nginx

    I also cannot go from and email message in outlook to the youtube website nor can I get youtube.com to come up. That page gives me a 404 internal server error nginx. Until the last few days I have been able to get to you tube and have not received these errors.

    Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
    Some have been reported to cause these errors.<br />
    Panda anti virus may cause the 404 internal server error nginx<br />
    I can't remember which software can be causing the 500 internal server error, but it is usually caused by security software adding a proxy to monitor internet traffic

  • Parameter Screen not opening - '500 Internal Server Error'

    Hi All,
    I have developed a Discoverer Report which runs based on certian parameters.
    When i run the report in Discoverer Viewer at my end the parameter screen opens fine with no errors, but when the customer clicks on the flashlight then instead of the parameter screen getting displayed there is some java error displayed which says '500 Internal Server Error'.
    Can anyone please tell me why is this error coming at the customer's end and what could be the root cause for this.
    Regards,
    Shruti

    Hi Shruti
    Can you tell me the URL you are using to launch Discoverer?
    Discoverer typically likes to call its pages using a fully qualified domain name like: http://myserver.mydomain.com:port/discoverer/plus
    If you are not launching it this way and are using just a server name or an IP address then the initial pages will work but later the server will try to call a fully qualified page from a non-qualified page. This can cause a 500 Internal Server Error.
    So, please make sure you are launching Discoverer correctly.
    Best wishes
    Michael

    Get ‘500 Internal Server Error’ during SIP INVITE - cause 44
    Have you ever seen anything like this before?  It usually works, but intermittently, we see calls get rejected.  It somehow seems related to high loads on the router.  We reduced the occurrences by changing our code to throttle the number of SIP INVITEs we send, but this doesn’t scale well.  Once it occurs, the only way to clean it up is to do a shut/no shut on the voice-port associated to SIP INVITE.
    Any suggestions on how we can proceed to debug this issue?

    Since it appears you are a Cisco Employee, my recommendation is that you use the many internal resource available to you (including, but not limited to) , like TAC access, internal forums, team leaders, etc.
    This not to give the casual reader, the impression that the best source of support at Cisco is a customer's public forum.

  • IPhone Oracle Business Indicators causing 500 Internal Server Error

    We are using the iPhone Oracle Business Indicators and we are connecting to our OBIEE Answers & Dashboards but the iPhone is causing the Presentation Server to crash.
    Steps:
    1. Logon to iPhone Oracle Business Indicators
    2. Access Favorites menu and select one of the saved Favorite reports (the report has been created as a Favorite from the iPhone)
    3. Following error is displayed both on iPhone and when accessing the Presentation Services from the browser:
    500 Internal Server Error
    Servlet error: An exception occurred. The current application deployment descriptors do not allow for including it in this response. Please consult the application log for details.
    4. This is actually causing the Presentation Service to go down and we have to restart the service each time when accessing Favorite reports from iphone.
    We have investigated the files created under the catalog directory _iphone and have noticed that when a Favorite report is created from the iphone, only the .atr file is created  but not the xml file itself, which lead us to the conclusion that this be the cause of the BI Presentation Services to crash.
    Has anyone experienced this problem? and if yes, how was it fixed?
    Thank you,
    Veronica

    You're getting the 500 Server Error because sawserver (presentation services) is crashing, as you say.
    For background info see here: http://rnm1978.wordpress.com/2009/12/09/troubleshooting-presentation-services-analytics-connectivity/
    You should check your sawserver.log file in $OracleBIData/log as this should record why sawserver is failing.
    If it doesn't you could [increase the logging level of sawserver|http://rnm1978.wordpress.com/2009/07/23/sawserver-logging-configuration-logconfig-xml/] to examine what it's doing before crashing, and or you will have to raise a support request (SR) with Oracle.

  • Sip 503 service unavailable and sip 500 internal server error

    Hi guys,could any one help me in the following.
    ITSP-->Voice gateway configured as CUBE-->CUCM-->UCCX
    I am moving a system from cme and aa enviroment to cucm and uccx
    The VGW is configured as CUBE and also is added as h323 gateway on cucm.
    When i tested the debug ccsip messages shows
    Sip 503 service unavailable or
    sip 500 internal server error.
    I can't now provide any debugs cause i am not on site,only on Saturday.
    As i read in previous discussion that could be the bind source address problem but i had this configured.
    Also i tried to configure the gateway instead of h232 to use sip trunk from cucm,but after this the incoming calls didn't even reach the router,the debug ccsip messages showed nothing.
    For now can any one advice me to what these 2 errors related to.
    What could be missing?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi there : can some one explain the reason that i am getting this sip error with itsp:

    This system was working with this dialpeers before with same provider ,just i have added the dial-peer 2 .
    I have changed the codec to match what is offered by itsp but no difference,still getting the same message.

  • 500 Internal Server Error at HFM work space,Urgent;;;;;

    Hi,
    Can any one give me solution for this.
    When I try to open Work space it is giving the error "500 Internal Server Error"
    And I am using Apache Tomcat.\
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi 807662 ,
    Hope this helps...
    Can you post the errors from the BI+ error log?
    You say that you can't log into the client applications? What client apps are you trying to log into?
    If Planning can you post the the errors from Planning? If HFM can you post the errors from HFM?
    Can you post the errors from the Event Viewer log on the server?
    -David
    Web server returns the message "Internal Server Error (HTTP 500)"
    DETAILS:
    This message usually indicates an error on the Web server. This message is too generic to provide the actual cause of the error, but a careful examination of the Web server logs, can provide clues which may point you in the right direction.
    There are a few of things you can infer from an "Internal Server Error" message.
    1. The web server is NOT down, i.e it is responding to an HTTP request, since the error is being generated and returned by the web server. Unlike a "Page cannot be displayed" error which is a default message generated by a browser if it cannot contact the web server. The "Internal server error" message is caused by the web server actually returning an HTTP 500 code.
    2. If all users are getting this error, its might indicate a problem with the web server itself, perhaps a lack of system resource, a system-wide failure, or a configuration or installation issue. If only one user gets the error, its probably just tied to the session of the user, and even may be specific to the current activity
    3. The root cause is the web server, and not the application server or database, even though its possible that an application server or database response might trigger an error on the web server. For example, SQL returning a large result set might cause an OutOfMemory condition on the web server. If the application server errors out, the PIA servlet traps it and returns a generic message saying "An error has occurred on the application server", it does not return an HTTP 500 error.
    The Internal Server Error message is generated by the web server, when the sub-process it called to process the browser's request, did not complete successfully. The sub-process may be a CGI program, ( Verity search in PeopleBooks for example), it may be another web server ( Apache proxying to WebLogic), or it may be a servlet (Weblogic HTTP handing off request to PIA). If the sub-process errors out, or returns an invalid error code, the web server will return an HTTP 500 error code to the browser.
    The key therefore in troubleshooting HTTP 500 errors is to find out what sub-process was invoked, and what was the error encountered by the sub-process. Start by checking the access log on the web server. It will have the URL with the GET or POST request, and the return code. Here
    Note though, that not all java exceptions translate to HTTP 500 errors, and not all HTTP 500 errors caused by servlets correspond to java errors. Sometimes a servlet may recover or ignore an exception and manage to return a valid response to the calling web server, mitigating an HTTP 500 code response to the browser.
    Some of the common causes of servlet failures are:
    - Invalid web server configuration ( these errors should be consistently reproducible)
    - Errors from the Application Server that are not captured and translated into a meaningful message for the user.
    - Network I/O errors while communicating with Application Server, or to a proxy plugin.
    - Out of memory conditions on the web server.
    - Problems with the Java runtime.
    - System errors, like running out of disk space, insufficient permissions, running out of threads, etc.
    - Errors in the servlet code itself. Example: NullPointerException
    - Invalid or corrupted Session information, perhaps caused by Proxies, Load Balancers, Timeouts.
    - Incorrect web server, JRE, OS patches and or versions.
    G'Luck,
    David

  • 500 Internal server error while running sqlsrv_query in PHP

    Hello everyone I am having a problem with sqlsrv_query I will be grateful to you please provide some help.
    I am running a query through php:
    $ls_parcel_query = "select  * from  ParcelDetail order by ExtractDate";
    $result = sqlsrv_query($conn, $ls_parcel_query, array(), array("Scrollable"=>"keyset","QueryTimeout"=>300));
    $no_of_rows = sqlsrv_num_rows($result);
    echo "<br/>".$no_of_rows;
    It gives (After 30 seconds):
    500 - Internal server error.
    There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.
    I have php.ini settings like below:
    max_execution_time = 90
    memory_limit = 128M
    While running this query in SQL SERVER 2008 R2, it successfully gives result in some times in 1 minute and sometimes in 2 minutes.

    Hello,
    A 500 Error will be caused due to many reason.To troubleshooting this issue, you can try to check out the error log and get more information on what is causing the error.

  • As2 receiver channel, SEEBURGER AS2: 500 Internal Server Error

    Hi,
    There is one scenario in our landscape, its running in production, Proxy to As2. The interface working fine for last 2 weeks, today its showing error in As2 receiver channel saying
    Message processing failed. Cause: javax.resource.ResourceException: Fatal exception: javax.resource.ResourceException: SEEBURGER AS2: 500 Internal Server Error # , SEEBURGER AS2: 500 Internal Server Error #
    I have searched in forum, but couldnt get much idea on why this error encounters and how can we resolve it.
    Kindly provide your inputs to help me resolve this.
    Thanks,
    Ruchi

    Hi Ruchi,
    500 means the requested server does not understand the request (the requested service is unknown). The reason is obvisiously outside of PI. You have to contact the 3rd party owner and ask why the system is refusing the request instead of responsing like before.

  • Report printing with BI pubisher - 500 Internal server error

    Hi,
    I was having problems using BI publisher to print with. I thought we didn't have it at first, however since found we do have BI Publisher Enterprise edition.
    When I put the settings into APEX, reports don't display as expected. I get
    report error:
    ORA-20001: The printing engine could not be reached because either the URL specified is incorrect or a proxy URL needs to be specified.Now if I navigate to the URL in my web browser, http://[server]:[port]/xmlpserver/convert, I get a 500 - Internal Server Error page. The requets is definitely hitting something because if I change "convert" to say "convert1" then I get 404 (as expected). So it seems as if convert is found but then a problem occurs.
    If I navigate to just http://[server]:[port]/xmlpserver/ then I see the BI publisher enterprise login screen.
    Any ideas what might be causing this or what I could do to resovle it?
    Our APEX instance is on a unix box and BI on a M$ box if that matters (long story)?
    Thanks

    Dear Cobos, For FQDN related issues : Set profile param "icm/host_name_full" with corresponding FQDN via RZ10 transaction. Also check login/create_sso2_ticket & /accept_sso2_ticket parameters in the profile you have created.  Instead of "http://sesue:50300" you may to have the URL like "http://sesue.domain.com:50300//SAP/BW/BEX/". Please refer this #scn article for more details : http://goo.gl/QPlrx Similar Issues : http://goo.gl/mRCh0 Hope it helps. Thanks.

    What you can do, is look up the JHeadstart source code of JhsActionServlet.java line 172. The JHeadstart runtime source code is shipped with your JHeadstart version.
    Then, from the source code, try to determine which object can have caused a ClassCastException.
    The cause is most likely a Java library (jar) for that type of object that is taken from a different classpath. In other words, the relevant jar might be pre-installed in the OC4J instance, while the class it is cast to is part of your ear file (or the other way around).
    Hope this helps,
