Timeout Error in Portal

when the user hits the portal link, he gets the following error -
Error : The request for content either timed out, or produced an error, after 0 seconds.
the page only shows banner and the rest of the page does not load.
this error is random but the frequency of this error is high. when the users hit refresh the error goes away and the remaining page loads properly.
the page contains HTML portlets.
has anyone faced this problem.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanx a bunch.

Guys,
Two questions:
First, where is the new parallel.jar posted and second where did you set your portlet execution mode from parallel to single. It is not in my global settings. I am on Portal 307.
Thanks,
Gordon

    Hi all,
The same problem is also hampering our work.Inspite of refreshing the page the timeout error remains. We have tried changing the timeout for the respective provider which contains the portlets but of no avail. Is there ne way of improving the performance of the Portal? The time for loading pages is very high as of now.The end result being that to access a particular form/report etc we end up spending a considerable amount of time.
Can anyone suggest a workaround for the same.

  • IView Timeout Error in Production

    Hi
We are having one application developed by JSPDynPage ...this application will do lots of DB transactions...Some times when the load is very high on the DB the users will get this Iview Timeout error and they will not see any thing in the portal Content Area.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Ajay

    Hi,
Note however, that you should not create any threads on the java application server, this is not allowed by the Java EE specifiction since the application server is responsible for handling threads.
You could try to implement as a service (not sure if this will work), or a combination of a service and a message driven bean (service sends JMS message to MDB which process it, and sends back to the service which listens on a queue). Note however that the MDB solution has a high overheader (It does work, as I've implement it myself one time).

    Hi Todd,
just wondering if you may answer a follow-up-question ?
We're having trouble understanding how to measure this blocking timeouts. We do have SCANUNIT set to 10 and BLOCKTIME to 12 in ubbconfig. tpgblktime returns 120, that makes us belive that the effective blocktime is a multiple of BLOCKTIME and SCANUNIT. If you explicitly use tpsblktime and set the value 13, tpgblktime returns 13, so it doesn't seem to be a multiple of SCANUNIT then. It's a bit confusing but there might be some documentation somewhere explaining this ?
Whenever we perform a call to a service after using tpsblktime with the value 13, it seems like the client receives TIMEOUT randomly after 20-30 seconds. If we use tpsblktime with the value of 4, it seems like a TIMEOUT occurs randomly after 10-20 seconds
Reading the documentation (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18050_01/tuxedo/docs11gr1/rf3c/rf3c.html#wp2437258), we should receive TIMEOUT after 20 seconds with tpsblktime set to 13 and after 10 seconds with tpsblktime set to 4, but that does not seem to be the case
Are there any explanations to this behaviour or is the documentation wrong ?
    Best regards,
    Kristian

  • Open socket timeout error

Sometime I can write to the local shared variable through data socket. But sometime cannot. Even though, I still can read/write through shared variable monitor.
The error is in the open socket, said connect to peer timeout. I set timeout to 10s or left blank both not work.
I am using 8.2.1 on vista. The computer has 2 lan ports.
I met almost same case long time ago. I solved it by diable NETBIOS and one of the lan port.
This time, I disabled netbios already. But in vista, seems not able to disable the other lan port.
    Any suggestion?

    hi turbot,

  • Why do i keep getting the "internet connection timeout" error message?

i have been upgrading a few standard itunes albums to itunes plus versions through my 3g mobile broadband connection, while not exactly a fast process, it was working fine until i started to get a backlog of 3 or 4 albums which were waiting in a queue to be downloaded, now every time i do the "check for downloads" option i get the "internet connection timed out" error message...this has been going on for 2 days! am i right in suspecting the backlog of albums is too much for my 3g mobile broadband connection? this is really doing my head in, if any of you techies could help me, it'd be much appreciated...?

yes i have recently updated to itunes 8.2.1, but i am starting to think its apple's servers (i tried to download at my brothers house...different computer and connection...same connection timeout error), because it will still let me download an album, but not necessarily all of the tracks. when i questioned itunes customer services about the seemingly hit and miss state of affairs with downloading, they told me to wait 3 weeks before trying to download the tracks that were giving me the grief (2 tracks from an arctic monkeys album)...which kinda indicates they know there is a problem and are trying to fix it, why else would they say wait 3 wks??? they gave me 5 free music tracks too, which is handy.
