Timeout when adding a node to the cluster

I'm creating a cluster between 2 Windows Server 2012 servers in different datacenters.
Servers are on 2 different networks N1 (10.0.17.1 ) and N2 (10.1.17.2).
The servers are virtualized on VMWare ESX Sphere5.5.
When we create the cluster on the node N1, node N2 ends with error timeout.
When we create the cluster on the node N2, node N1 ends with error timeout.
* No Antivirus
* No firewalls
* Ping from N1 to N2 OK.
* Ping from N2 to N1 OK.
* Windows are updated.
Thank you

As far as I know The VMware ESXI® product not certificated by Windows, so you can ‘t get the official support. Personal point is you need first confirm your CSV is work fine,
then disable all cluster node firewall and AV soft then try again.

• Is it possible to specify the nodenum when adding a node to a RAC database

hi gurus
I have a 10.2 one-node cluster database,the olsnodes show that the current node has nodenum of 2(because I removed the nodenum 1 before because the machine needs to be replaced),now I want to add a new node to the cluster to replace the priviously removed node1,but finally I found that ORACLE will use nodenum 3 for the new node instead of nudenum1,
olsnodes command shows:
+[oracle@rac2 bin]$ ./olsnodes -n+
rac2    2
rac1    3
Is it possible to modify the nodenum or specify the nodenum when adding a new node?
Hoping I am understood,thanks for your time.

hi all
I have found the way to do it. Moidy the rootaddnode.sh to the desired nodenum before running it.It worked.
Thanks still!

Failed to initialize Oracle Cluster Registry for cluster, rc 105
Oracle Grid Infrastructure Repository configuration failed at /u01/app/11.2.0/grid/crs/install/crsconfig_lib.pm line 6818.

The document references posted already are very good ones. However, I would say that on personal experience (on Solaris and 10gR2) that the addnode tools gave me nothing but problems. Luckily, I was able to build a parallel cluster (with three nodes) on other hardware and then move the databases across via DataGuard. It was quicker and cleaner (and easier!) that way...
Good luck!

• RAC Instalation Problem (shared accross all the nodes in the cluster)

All experts
I am trying for installing Oracle 10.2.0 RAC on Redhat 4.7
reff : http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/OracleDB10gR2RACInstallationOnLinux
All steps successfully completed on all nodes (rac1,rac2) every thing is okey for each node
on single node rac instalation successfull.
when i try to install on two nodes
on specify Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR) location showing error
the location /nfsmounta/crs.configuration is not shared accross all the nodes in the cluster. Specify a shared raw partation or cluster file system file that is visible by the same name on all nodes of the cluster.
I create shared disks on all nodes as:
1 First we need to set up some NFS shares. Create shared disks on NAS or a third server if you have one available. Otherwise create the following directories on the RAC1 node.
mkdir /nfssharea
mkdir /nfsshareb
2. Add the following lines to the /etc/exports file. (edit /etc/exports)
/nfssharea *(rw,sync,no_wdelay,insecure_locks,no_root_squash)
/nfsshareb *(rw,sync,no_wdelay,insecure_locks,no_root_squash)
3. Run the following command to export the NFS shares.
chkconfig nfs on
service nfs restart
4. On both RAC1 and RAC2 create some mount points to mount the NFS shares to.
mkdir /nfsmounta
mkdir /nfsmountb
5. Add the following lines to the "/etc/fstab" file. The mount options are suggestions from Kevin Closson.
nas:/nfssharea /nfsmounta nfs rw,bg,hard,nointr,tcp,vers=3,timeo=300,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,actimeo=0 0 0
nas:/nfsshareb /nfsmountb nfs rw,bg,hard,nointr,tcp,vers=3,timeo=300,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,actimeo=0 0 0
6. Mount the NFS shares on both servers.
mount /mount1
mount /mount2
7. Create the shared CRS Configuration and Voting Disk files.
touch /nfsmounta/crs.configuration
touch /nfsmountb/voting.disk
Please guide me what is wrong

I think you did not really mount it on the second server. what is the output of 'ls /nfsmounta'.
step 6 should be 'mount /nfsmounta', not 'mount 1'. I also don't know if simply creating a zero-size file is sufficient for ocr (i have always used raw devices, not nfs for this)

1 - I run ifconfig and check if my network card has MULTICAST flag
2 - I add this route run this command:
route add -host 239.192.0.10 dev eth0
afeter this my nodes has started with sucess

• Can I use one transport adapter on the nodes of the cluster?

Hi
I am new to sun cluster, in the cluster documentation they mentioned that each node should have 2 network cards one for public connections and one for private connection. what if I do not want the nodes to have public connections except for one node. In other words, I want to use one network card on each node except for the first node in the cluster, users can access the rest of the nodes through the fist node . Is that possible? If yes, what should be the name of the second transport adapter while installing the cluster software on the nodes.
Thank You for the help

Dear
We are using cluster for HA on failover condition, If you have only one network adapter so how you work in failover, and you can't assign one adaptor to two node as same, you have min 2 network adapter for 2 node cluster..

• [Photoshop CC 2014] Click&hold-move-release doesn't work when adding adjustment layer from the layer panel

When selecting a menu item I used to click the left mouse button and hold it down, move the pointer to the desired menu item and release the mouse button. Everything works fine in the mine menu, but there's a problem when adding new adjustment layer from the layer panel: when I release the button nothing happens, I have to press the button again. In previous PS version it worked fine. How can I fix this?

I don't think that is user fixable, meaning you'll have to wait till adobe fixes it with an update.

AFAIK, the only way to do this is to write a system modifcation.
The BADI is executed only once at startup of the session, so that makes it merely static. (A strange point in time, I discussed it with SAP and they just shook their heads)
I had the same problem with some other F4-Helps and it was a big hazzle. From my experience, no straight answer.

• Add node to the cluster

Dear Experts,
Please help me, I am new in RAC and I have a question please;
We have 6 nodes cluster of 11.2.0.2.3 version and my manager wants me to add a new node to the cluster.
Could you please send me the steps 1, 2 , 3 ...
we have not shared oracle homes (oracle user), not shared grid homes (grid user) and they are all patched with patch set update 3 (11.2.0.2.3) all under Enterprise Redhat Linux 5.5.
Please also tell me with which system user (oracle, root or grid) I have to run each command...
Could you help me?

If you need a GUI to change the owner of a file or files, try BatChMod
Download BatChmod 1.51
Works on 10.5 and 10.6
http://www.macchampion.com/arbysoft/BatchMod/Download.html
Here are similar teminal commands:
Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
#Your current user is:
echo $USER
#Let's assume myuser
#Or, you can use the id command.
id
#Remember, this will be the correct userid. You need to find the bad userid.
#You need to look on one of your bad files. To find out your UID and GID do:
cd ~
ls -ln
ls -l
ls -ln filename-of-bad-file
Now, compare the output and write down what you find.
You best use the numeric value of the old userid. In this case it is 501. Before you do a command that will change files, you should list all the files to be changed. From an administrator account, enter the following command:
sudo find -x / -user 501 -exec ls -l {} \;
# the system will ask for your log on password. Type it in. The letters will not appear on the screen. Then, press the enter key.
# adding a -x before the / limits the search to the current file system which will be your startup partition.
# To stop the display press control-c ( hold down the control key then press c )
mac $ sudo find -x / -user 501 -exec ls -l {} \;
-rwxr-xr-x   1 na  unknown  0 Oct 23  2001 /Applications/AppleWorks 6/AppleWorks 6.app/AppleWorks 6
-rwxr-xr-x   1 na  unknown  0 Oct 23  2001 /Applications/AppleWorks 6/AppleWorks 6.app/Contents/MacOS/AppleWorks Essentials
-rwxr-xr-x   1 na  unknown  0 Oct 23  2001 /Applications/AppleWorks 6/AppleWorks 6.app/Contents/MacOS/Clippings
-rwxr-xr-x   1 na  unknown  0 Oct 23  2001 /Applications/AppleWorks 6/AppleWorks
^C
This command will change the ownership of a file.
Any file or folder with a userid of 501 is changed to 1000. Your numbers will differ.
sudo find -x / -user 501 -exec chown 1000  {} \;
#And you need to do this from an administrator id.
More examples:
sudo find -x / -user 501 -exec chown 5464 {} \;
sudo find -x / -group 20 -exec chgrp 211 {} \;
#combined change of uid & gid
sudo find -x / -user 501 -exec chown 5464:211 {} \;
Hope this helps a little.

• [SOLVED] Can't add a node to the cluster with error (Exchange 2010 SP3 DAG Windows Server 2012)

Hi there!
I have a problem which makes me very angry already :)
I have two servers Exchange 2010 SP3 with MB role started on Windows Server 2012. I decided to create a DAG.
I have created the prestaged AD object for the cluster called msc-co-exc-01c, assigned necessary permissions and disabled it. Allowed through the Windows Firewall traffic between nodes and prepared the File Share Witness server.
Then I have tried to add nodes. The first node has been added successfully, but the second node doesn't want to be added :). Now I can add only one node to the DAG. I tried to add different servers first, but only the first one was added.
LOGS on the second nodes:
Application Log
"Failed to initialize cluster with error 0x80004005." (MSExchangeIS)

UPD:
when Exchange servers ran on the same Hyper-V node, the DAG is working well, but if I move one of VM to another node, It stops working.
I have installed Wireshark and captured trafic of cluster interface. When DAG members on the same HV-node, there is inbound and outbound traffic on the cluster interface, but if I move one of DAG member to another node, in Wireshark I see only outbound traffic
on both nodes.
It's confused me, because there is normal connectivity between these DAG members through the main interface.
Please, help me if you can.

Hi, Jared! Thank you for the reply.
Of course I did it already :) I have new info:

• Getting an exception error when adding a server to a cluster

I am using WL 6.0 and have configured a "Machine", two "Servers" and a
"Cluster", and I want to create two servers on a single machine in order to
test some clustering issues.
I am using the default "myserver" as one of the servers. I have selected

• Tree display not updating when adding first node to expanded node

Hi
Please have a look at the following code. To reproduce the faulty behaviour you have to expand the item, then click "add" button and observe, that nothing happens. Collapsing, then expanding the node shows the added children. I use Flex 3.5.0
Is this a bug in the SDK or am I missing some auto update switch?
Thanks!!
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="horizontal"
minWidth="955" minHeight="600"
creationComplete="run()">
<mx:Tree id="tree" width="300" height="500" labelField="name" />
<mx:Button label="add" click="onClickAdd()" />
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import mx.collections.ArrayCollection;
import mx.utils.ObjectProxy;
protected var itm1:Object;
protected function run() : void
var ac:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection();
this.itm1 = new ObjectProxy({name:"1", children:new ArrayCollection()});
ac.addItem(this.itm1);
this.tree.dataProvider = ac;
protected function onClickAdd() : void
this.itm1.children.addItem({name:"child"});
]]>
</mx:Script>
</mx:Application>

Yep, that works! Thanks! Would have never thought of that...
Here is my modified code:
<mx:Tree id="tree" width="300" height="500" labelField="name"
dataDescriptor="{new DefaultDataDescriptor2()}"
/>
and new class
package de.byteconsult.controls.tree
import mx.collections.ICollectionView;
import mx.controls.treeClasses.DefaultDataDescriptor;
public class DefaultDataDescriptor2 extends DefaultDataDescriptor
public function DefaultDataDescriptor2()
super();
override public function hasChildren(node:Object, model:Object=null) : Boolean
var children:ICollectionView = this.getChildren(node, model);
return children != null;

• When adding event in iCal, the event becomes full-day by default. How to change?

Also, when de-clicking full-day the events becomes timed 10am-6pm. When changing start time, the end time follows with this 6 hr gap. Not the worst problem to deal with in this world, but...still. Any way of changing this little detail? I.e. to be able to double click the desired day, getting an event that starts with the current time and a 1 hr gap (as with the old version of iCal, that is).
Cheers

• Error reading Web application occurs when starting one server in the cluster

Hi All,
I have configured two cluster servers in the win 2000. Admin server also win
2000. One cluster server joins the cluster while other gives following error
and starts. But it seems that it does not join to the cluster view because
prevoius server only serves the requests. I have attached the log also.

You're getting that probably because the WL instance was not shut down properly.
If that's the case, you'll need to remove an ldap lock file (with a .lok extension) in the directory of ldap files (under the server dir) .
