Timer on clock app dimmed

On my clock app, the section where I adjust the time I want for the timer is dimmed out. It's only for the timer, world clock/alarm/stopwatch are all working perfectly only the top half of my timer section is dark. Anyone have any ideas? I have already tried soft reset, restarting and resetting settings. The countdown time displays normally once I start the timer but just when I want to set the time, it becomes really dim. The bottom half(area with start/pause) always displays properly.
Thanks!

Have you tried switching between the Timer, Alarm, Stopwatch, etc?  Switch to one of these, exit, close the app as I described in my first post, reopen the app and then select Timer.
If still no joy and you've alrady done a reset, your next step is to restore with your backup.  After that it's restore as new, i.e. without your backup.
Or download a Timer app from the App Store.

  • Problem with Timer in Clock app in IOS 8

I've noticed an interesting change, a bug I suspect, in the Timer part of the Clock app in IOS 8. If I set a timer for say, 5 min, and I happen to check the timer before the alarm sounds, so it is showing on the iPhone, the alarm goes off, But I cannot stop it, cancel it, whatever. I have to go back to the home screen to tap done. This wasn't the behavior before. I suspect is shouldn't be now. Anyone else seen this? Any ideas on how to fix it?

I have a reproducible bug with the alarm in iOS 8.0.2 on iPhone 5. If the alarm goes off when the phone is sleeping I normally can silence in 3 ways: 1) use "tap to stop" on lock screen; 2) use power button to return to sleep mode; 3) use vibrate switch to turn ringer off. However, if I inadvertently swipe down to access notifications when the alarm is going off, when I return to lock screen the alarm can no longer be silenced by 1 & 2 listed above (only 3 will work). Powering off will also work, although I have read here that some are having the alarm remain on even after reboot. I can reproduce this problem as often as I attempt.

  • Need a dual time zone clock app that runs like a screensaver

I have a first generation iPhone and I am wondering if any of the many world time zone clocks available as apps have the ability to run over or replace, until touched, the iPhone screen itself, which contains numerous app logos. Hope that makes sense. Thoughts?

What about adding another to Dashboard?
There are some for $20 but not menu bar:

  • Displaying GMT time in clock app

    Hi,
In the clock application, how does one show GMT / UTC time?  In the World Clock part, there is no city listed as GMT/UTC.
Some people have suggested that Reykjavik be used.  That's a workaround.  Is there a better answer, or can I submit a feature request?  I am running 10.3.1.1767.
     RWW

If I am not mistaken the original request intended to ask for a possibility to diplay real UTC/GMT.
In WInter the time in London is the same as GMT, but in the summer the UK is using summer time. The clock for London would show GMT+1 then.
According to this Wikipedia entry Iceland is using GMT+0 all year round.
On a BB10 device this is problably the closest you can get right now.
It would be nice if Blackberry could and an extra UTC entry to the list of cities/time-zones.

  • Ios7 clock app I can no longer see the time or cell signal at the top of the screen.

I just updated to ios7  I have the iphone 5.
I can no longer see the cell signal or time at the top of the clock app.  I actually have to leave the clock app to see what time it is or try to read the analog clocks in the time zone section.  I have a friend with a 4s, and they can still see the stuff at the top of the screen.  Help?  Is this a bug, or is there a setting I can change?

This is what it loks like...no time or cell signal at the top

  • Clock app: How can I shorten the time that the alarm goes off?

I use the alarms in the basic clock app. They always work. The problem is when the ipod is not in my immediate possession. I have an alarm set to go off at noon. Today it chimed until I could get to it at 12:11. Isn't there a way to tell it to ring for 15 seconds, 1 minute, etc? It just goes and goes until I get to it.
All other third party apps look like you need to remember to leave their app running. If I would remember that, I probably would not need the alarm, unless I used it exclusively for waking up.

Sorry it is not possible to adjust the alarm ring time.

  • How to fix the Clock App's timer?

    Hey guys,
So I have been having a recurring and permanent problem ever since I moved to iOS 7.
I have an iPhone 5 and with iOS 6 the timer function with-in Clock was working perfectly, up until the release of iOS 7. Then the timer stopped functioning as designed...by which I mean, I could set a time for 20 seconds, 20 minutes or 2 hours. It would make no difference. The timer would start correctly, and count-down correctly, but when it came to ringing off the alarm signalling the timer had finished, that however would not occur. No sound, no nothing. It would not matter if I set the timer with Siri or manually; no difference.
I am only posting this problem (which arose in October of last year) now because I was hoping that subsequent updates to iOS 7 would eventually fix the issue, and of course they have not (at least for me). I have not yet tried wiping and restoring the phone to find out if that helps. It was partly to find out if anyone else has had this issue.
    Lib.

No I do not have any issue with the timer. Just tested 2 minutes using Siri and it works.
Do you have "When Timer Ends" > Radar or any other sound you have set?
Is your mute switch at the left side of iPhone ON?
Have you done a reset after deleting the Clock app from multitask-list?
Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data

  • Clock app adds a minute to the timer all by itself

I would never believe it if I had not seen it. My boss told me that while using the timer on the clock app that it added a minute to the time as it was counting down all by itself. It seems to happen about 1 out of 6 times we tried it. We set the timer to 2 minutes and pressed start. It counted down to 1:53 then showed 2:52 and continued to count down to 0:00.
Then I tried my phone and sure enough after a few tries mine did the same thing. I think mine was at 1:17 when it then jumped to 2:16 and continued to count down.
His iPhone is a 3Gs 16Gb Black and mine is a 3Gs 32Gb Black. Both are running 3.1.
If anyone has seen this before please let me know. Thanks!

Just found this article. Looks like this problem has been around for a while...

No, there is no way to change the sort order.

  • Clock App timer problem - no noise

Since moving from iOS 7 to iOS 8 the timer on my clock app no longer works properly.
It counts down and you can see the reamaining time on the lock screen but when it gets to the specified count down time, there is no sound.
The lock screen lights up but there is no noise at all.
I have done hard reset, reset settings,  upgraded to latest ios, restored as new - nonthing makes any difference.
The only way I can get a sound is if I change the sound each time I set the timer - very tiresome.
The problem happens if I use Siri and also if I use the app manually without changing the sound.
    The alarm clock works fine.
    Any help gratefully appreciated!

  • Problem with alarms in clock app

I set an alarm for 7:30 am for Saturdays and Sundays, but the alarm sounds at 6:30. it shows up as "weekends" properly, and my phone is set to the correct time and time zone and daylight savings is correct. I checked to make sure that it was from the apple clock app by changing the sound, and I tried deleting and adding a new alarm, but it keeps going off an hour early.
is there a better solution than switching to a 3rd-party app?

I'm having this exact problem too

I would like to know, on the ringtone page, where you can select songs out of your music library, is there a way to remove a song from the list after its selected? I would thin there would be a way to "delete" the songs from the list. (Clock app)
    Let me explain:
In the clock app for ios 6.0.2 I am a little confused. It allows you to go into your music library, and create a ringtone using any songs you choose. However, I cannot find a way to remove a song from this list, just like I cannot delete one of the preset ringtones (which I'm not trying to do, but just as an example)
Thanks for your time! If you need more information just ask.
(I believe both my iPod and iTunes are up to date)

I believe you just are able to delete them from iTunes.
    Hope it will be helpful

  • First day of week in Clock app - Alarm

I changed the first day of week to Monday in Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Start Week On. However, it still shows Sunday as the first day in Clock -> Alarm -> Repeat -> Weekdays. How can I set Monday in the Clock app? Thanks.

Here's an old post, don't have time to confirm still true
'm been looking around and trying to find out about the function
"firstDayOfWeek", but I now finally found out it is much easier than that.
    Solution:
Find the CssResources_xx.properties file (where xx is the language you
want to change for) in the
    tomcat\4\webapps\gw\WEB-INF\classes\com\novell\webaccess\templates\css
    directory.
Look for Calendar.Week.startDay=1 and change that to 2 for Monday. Do
this for all language properties files you need.
Stop and start tomcat and voil*.

  • Looking for a specific Iphone alarm clock app

    Hello,
I have been looking on the apple store for an app that I came across a while a go. It's an alarm clock app with a calculator for morning tasks, so it will ask the user how many tasks and how long each task is going to need, and then it will calculate the total time the user need in the morning. It also has an alarm clock to wake you up according to the time calculator. If you have 5 tasks:
    brush up ---------------------------10 min
    prepare breakfast----------------10 min
    eat breakfast-----------------------5 min
    read news---------------------------5 min
    driving to school--------------------40 min
the total time is 1 hr 10 min. Then you enter the time school starts, 8am for example. The alarm clock will wake the user up at 6:50am in the morning on that day.
Does anyone have this app and would like to share the name of the app with me? I have been desperately looking for it and regreted not saving it to my wishlist on the first time.
Many thanks to the apple community!!!

1password is FREE for a limited time, and it allows you to store login info and notes(you can use as journal) and then lock the application with a passcode. And lockbox does about the same thing, it's free too.

  • Daylight saving & Clock App

In Australia we have just switched to daylight savings time and my 3G iPhone running version 4.1 change the internal clock perfectly. The odd thing is that the alarm function in the standard clock App supplied with the phone, is going off an hour early!! Has anybody else experienced this and if so is there a fix?

We are having the same issue in our house. We have 3 Iphones (two 3GS and one 4) and reseting like this unfortunately does not fix the problem. The problem exists only with alarms that are set for a repeat (i.e. weekdays) and has only happened since daylight savings kicked in on Sunday morning . If you set an alarm on its own with the setting "never" in the repeat field the alarm should work fine. This is obviously a software issue that needs to be fixed and can't be fixed by a simple reset. I have tried everything from creating a new alarm to reseting the phone etc without any success. This problem is mostly likely linked to another issue users are having of alarms not going off at all over this weekend in Australia and also the issue of Iphones in Queensland changing time automatically even though Queensland does have day light savings.
