I need to use Times EXT Roman fonts to write an academic paper with Sanskrit diacrits on MS Word for Mac

For Times New Roman font in Windows server 2012 R2 (Standard), crystal 9/10 report in pdf format is not getting generated. When we change the font for specific report like Arial, Calibri , Cambria then pdf report getting created.
In Windows 2008 R2, same application worked fine to generate pdf report for TimesNewRoman font and there is no change done in the application which is being used in Windows 2012 R2 server.Ok, thanks for the reply. You need to contact support or a forum for the Crystal software. Third party products don't usually include Adobe technology, they have their own software. When you contact them, you may want to expand "unable to generate" to give any specific symptoms including any error messages.

Visualize diacritics in a Word document that uses Times Ext Roman
I am editing a book whose chapters contain Arabic terms transliterated in Roman script and showing a variety of diacritics. I inserted these diacritic using Times Ext Roman in a Word document on a PC. When I open these word documents on my MacBook, I see an underscore under each letter with a diacritic mark on it. Example: Mu_ammad instead of Muhammad with a dot under the letter "h".
Is there a way I can visualize these diacritics, or change the font to one that shows these diacritics in Mac?
Thanks!Try switching the font for a sample word to Lucida Grande -- that is the Mac font that has the widest range of diacritics I think. Muḥammad.
You can see which fonts have this character by opening Character Palette, view = code tables, tab = unicode, 00001E25 and looking at the Font Variation pane.
Times Ext Roman should also work on the Mac, if you can get a copy. -

I have a MacBook Pro Retina display: 15.4-inch late 2015 with OS X Mavericks install, only on second week.
Insight works on FaceTime, Skype, but yahoo program does not show insight cam in dropped down.
Now when I got my new MacBook Pro, I down loaded all new Skype (worked tested), FaceTime (Worked Tested), Yahoo (not worked)
Fix:
With the new Maverick you have to use there messager program Version 8.0 (4218). Once I add my yahoo account video works again.
It also supported AOL, AIM, Google Talk, Jabber.
Guess I miss it frist time... hope this helps... -
Is Mavericks.app for iMac same as that for Macbook Air?
I downloaded Mavericks.app for my iMac and then used the same installer (mavericks.app) to upgrade my Macbook Air 2013. The upgrade was smooth; but the battery life isn't very great.
Can someone confirm that there's Mavericks upgrade for iMac is the same as that for Macbook Air?Thanks! Haven't had any problems with the software; except that I'm not happy with the battery life my MBA 2013, 13" offers after the upgrade. Looks like time to reset PRAM and SMC.

Times New Roman font will not print on HP Officejet Pro 8610
My new HP Officejet Pro 8610 will not print documents, spreadsheets, or printer test pages containing Times New Roman font (of any size). It does not put a job in the print queue. In Excel, I receive the "Generic_2_Q294552" error message. My setup: An HP Pavilion Elite computer NY809AV-ABA e9119t; running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1; HP Laserjet 5L, HP PCS 1310, and HP D4360 all print the font just fine. My new printer: HP Officejet Pro 8610, firmware revision FDP1CN1502AR, connected via USB cable. [Also connected via ethernet cable to cable modem.] What I have done so far to troubleshoot the last 3 days: Reinstalled the printer (3 times), the most recent today with an installer issued today; rebooted the printer; rebooted the computer after each significant change; updated the firmware in the printer; tried two different USB cables; tried printing the fonts in Microsoft Word 7, Microsoft Excel 7, and directly from the font file; reinstalled the Times New Roman fonts from backup; visited the forums and tried all of the solutions I could for any similar problem; tried the winprint, hpzppw71, and hpzpplhn print processors with both RAW and NT EMF 1.008 data types; found and repaired all problems I could find with any hardware and software, as well as updating all software to the latest version.

When I change to some fonts (those listed on my DOES print) the document shows up in the print queue and prints. When I change to the other fonts (those listed as DOES NOT print) nothing happens. It just sits there. No messages. No crash. Nothing in the print queue. I can walk away for hours (as I have done) and come back and nothing has happened. When I change back to a DOES print font it prints. Change it back to a DOES NOT print font and it doesn't. Repeatable. Consistent. No configuration changes or installs have changed it. Microsoft Excel:I open a black spreadsheet. Type something in. Highlight the entire text. Change the font. When I change to a DOES print font it prints. When I change to a DOES NOT print font I get this: "Microsoft Office Excel Your file could not be printed due to an error on HP Officejet Pro 861 on 0. There are several possible reasons:. There may not be enough memory available. Try closing files and programs you aren't using.. If you use a network for printing, there may be a problem with the network connection or the printer driver.. General problems: The printer may be unavailable, the network may be down, the communication port to the printer may be corrupt or unavailable, a hardware error at the computer may have occurred (out of paper, paper jam, out of ink, out of toner, etc), and a language setting may need to be reset from the Regional Options control panel.
Local problems: There are several reasons for a local printer (a printer that is attached directly to your computer) to fail:

Doesn't crash. Just pops up the gray dialog box. Behind the box popped up is another box (that goes away then the dialog box is closed) saying: "Now printing page 1 of 1'Book1' on theHP Officejet Pro 861 on 0" The format of these messages does seem strange now that I look at it so carefully while trying to type EXACTLY what I see. Arial and Time New Roman fonts not embedding in new computer??
I do layout for our publishing company and I have an issue which has me stumped.
I have had no trouble with fonts embedding on my old system (Which I can still use as a backup) It is a laptop with CS4 and Windows vista system. I recently got a desktop which has Windows 7 and now when I am trying to create a postscript file and then convert to PDF, Arial and Times New Roman fonts are never embedded. (using print to postscript file) and use Acrobat Distiller, as our printing company requires both of these steps to create the most sound file for printing books.
I have been using my new computer to create the InDesign file, open it on the other computer (which then I have to go back and fix missing links etc) then create postscript and distill. It is extra steps that can cause extra error. If there is a way to make the fonts embed on my new system it would be great. Can anyone help me with this?

CathyThanks but I figured out the problem, it was the settings in Adobe Distiller, there was a whole list of fonts, including the
Arial, Timers new Roman and Century Fonts that were in a list title "Never Embed" Lol, I guess that would do it. Problem solved! -

To create some sanity here:
If you are going to share files with family, friends, and coworkers Microsoft Office is the obvious and easy (though expensive) choice.
If you are trying to save money and still remain compatible with friends LibreOffice is free and can read/write Microsoft Office files nearly perfectly.
Another free choice is Apple's iWork suite (you'll have to download it from the App store because it isn't pre-installed) Numbers, Pages, and Keynote. These programs read Microsoft documents mostly accurately but not quite as well as LibreOffice and export to Office compatible documents. But neither LibreOffice nor iWork saves in Microsoft formats by default which means you must remember to export them. That can be a problem.
In terms of ease of use I give iWork a slight edge over the other two. In terms of doing annoying things I don't expect, Office is the hands down winner. -

Just purchased the latest version Macbook Air. I'd like to transfer video from a Sony video camera w/mini DV tape, into iMovie '11 on the laptop. Trouble is, I can't use my existing firewire cable as before on the iMac desktop. There are prior discussions on the forum about this but none current. Have there been any new developments in the firewire adapter arena for Macbook Air? Is Mac's firewall sufficient or is will an additional firewall help? What security suite do you recomend for MacBook Air with Maverick?
Third party security software is better at causing problems then it is at solving them.
I recommend against them.
If you felt it is necessary then configure the firwall software included with OS X.

I think the problem is explained in the question. It concerns my Thunderbird e-mail; I like Verdana and want it as my total and always default type style, but Thunderbird keeps switching back to Variable Width when I continue to type after moving the
