I am facing difficulties in configuring the Approve work time -> Define Approval Views in ECC6.

ESS Timesheet Approval from ESS

Hi,
We have implemented ESS .We have created workflow for timesheet approval.
Whenever employee creates a timesheet request.The workitem sent to Manager to approve the timesheet records.But when Manager opens the workitem regarding timesheet approval through ESS ,he see all timesheet records of all employees who are reporting to him.
But when we open the same workitem through SBWP it shows onli leave records of the employee related with the workitem not all the reportees.We want same functionality through ESS UWL.
I have checked the configuration related with approval views.
"Define Profiles and Assign to Views" It seems fine.
Kindly suggest for the same.

Our client want to implement tiem sheet. Request you to provide gudiance wheher CATS i.e CATSRegular orESS timesheet would be useful.
if would be great if u could provide a kind of advantages adn disadvantages of both.

Fiori Timesheet Approval

Hi Friends,
In timesheet approval app, is there a possibility where manager can reject timesheet in one go for the entire week, rather than clicking on each line item for rejection.
In one of the project, where business enters time to multiple items according to projects which they are working and the current process followed here is to reject the complete timesheet of entire week, rather than respective day or line item.
Right now, we need to click on individual line for rejection and which client doesn't want and they wanted one time rejection for entire week.
Is it possible to customize the approval screen.
Please advice.

Hi Srikanth,
As per the current design the default is approve and for Rejection you need to click on the entry which you have to reject and select a rejection reason. This was done for faster approvals since rejections is not the most common scenario.
we are in process of coming up with a new design for partially selecting some entries for Rejecetion.
For the time being the only work around would be to create a new view to replace the current view using the extensibility concept.

Working of Individual Timesheet approval view in MSS

can any one tell what happens(how it works) when a manager selects "Reject " from drop down and press the transfer button in Individual timesheet approval view.
problem is : i have sorted the data based on A/A type Text. suppose that the data before sorting is 4,1,4 after sorting the data is 4,4,1. when i select reject for first two entries 4,4(sorted data) and press transfer it will go to collective approval view. then choose review. in this screen it showing the rejected times as 4,1(which is the previous data) rather than 4,4.
the summary is it is taking only previous data eventhough we have sorted it.
any help will be greatly appreciated.

You can select individually and those records which are selected as rejected will be rejected in the final screen
In individual approval you set the status approve, resubmit or reject! These are different statuses we need to use

Project Server No project update after timesheet approval

Hi,
I work with Project Server 2013, I can create and schedule projects, assign ressources, fill
in the timesheet and save it for approval.
I'm using the
Single Entry Mode
When ressources update theire TimeSheet (approved) and I check my project in project web access, I do not see any progress (0% completed)
Does someone know why my project is not updated?

Hi Slim,
Note that once the timesheet with SEM activated is submitted, there are 2 approvals: from the status manager (project plan owner) and from the timesheet manager of the resource. The project plan will be updated once the status manager approved the task update
AND published the project plan.
Thus you have to check that the status manager (and not only the timesheet manager) correctly approved the update and also that he published the project plan for MS Project Pro (or eventually from PWA).
If it is still not working, you could check the PWA queue for potential error messages related to the task update approval and/or project publish job.

Problem Description: Would like to know how to set the vacation rule for a specific project.
My requirement is to create vacation rule for a timesheet approval for a specific project. I do see option in vacation rules but there is no option to select specific project.
Can you please help me out on this?

Timesheet Approval Configuration - Fixed Approval Routing

Hello,
Currently our timesheet configuration is through chain approvals. Team member submits to their manager, manager does approval and sends to me (timesheet manager). I have Fixed Approval Routing unchecked, as I would like for the Manager to be able to select
me as manager to approve. However, after unchecking Fixed Approval Routing, it doesn't seem to pop up for managers to select me as the timesheet manager. They just get the dialogue box to click OK when approving. Is there a configuration I'm missing? I tried
this for every manager by delegating and it seems it just goes directly to their timesheet manager without having a message to send to. Previously, it would work fine, but after a few configuration tweaks it stopped popping up to select timesheet manager.

For Project Server 2013, Try following:
Add yourself in the "Timesheet Managers" list, which can be set under "Server Settings" -> "Timesheet
Managers"
Update Team member and make yourself as "Timesheet
Manager"
thru "Manage User" or thru "Resource Centre."
Update following setting on "Server
Settings" page, in the "Time and Task Management"
section, click "Timesheet Settings and Defaults"
Select the "Fixed Approval Routing" check box.
Under "Task Status Manager Approval", choose "Enabled" if you want managers to be able to approve individual
timesheet lines. You can also choose to "require line approval before timesheet approval."

TimeSheet Approval Process workflow

Hi All,
Please let me know how time sheet standard behavior of approval workflow.
I ran the timesheet approval process, I found in the event trace, the following business objects are showing for the process.
When employee requests for a timesheet approval, there is no workflow triggered ( no receiver in the SWEL), it is showing BO IDOCPACKET and event MASSINPUTFINISHED and when approval approves the request it is triggered the workflow (receiver is WORKITEM) single step type.
Please clarify me on
1. Why IDOCPACKET is triggered?
2. Why ATTENDENCE is triggered?
3. whenever a time sheet request is created by user, approver will get notifications, where these configurations have been maintained?
4. When approver approves/rejects the request, initiator will get the notifications, where these configurations have been maintained?

1 and 2) Are you sure that IDOCPACKET and ATTENDENCE have anything to do with CATS? I don't believe so. The time stamps of these events most probably don't event match with your CATS release and/or approval.
If you need to set up some kind of approval process workflow, if I remember correctly it is configured here: SPRO > Cross Application Components > Time Sheet > Specific setting for CATS Regular > CATS Regular > Set up data entry profile.

How to retrieve Timesheet Approver by query

I'm retrieving timesheet manager name from ResourceTimesheetManagerUID field in MSP_EpmResource_UserView view. But, If a user change timesheet manager while submitting time sheet I'm unable to access it. I tried searching in reporting DB
documentation but did not find anything over there. Can someone let me know the field where this info is stored?

Hi Indu,
I ran some tests and I can see that the LastStatusChangeResourceNameUID column is not populated. According to the documentation this shold have been populated with:
GUID of the resource who last changed the timesheet status.
So this should have been the timesheet manager (or whoever approved/rejected/amended the timesheet)
I can see that someone raised a similar question for the 2010 version:

I would suggest you take that with Microsoft. Unless, you want to adventure yourself and look into the published schema, MSP_Timesheet_Actions table. However, please note that querying directly the pub/draft/ver schemas is not supported

Throw a custom error message while doing CATS timesheet approval

Hi,
We are going to implement CATS Timesheet approval using ESS / MSS portal.
Requirement is NOT to allow an approver to approve / reject a timesheet workitem in MSS duing payroll block period ( e.g last week of a month). we need to throw an error message saying 'No approval of timesheet is allowed during payroll block period'.
Will SAP enhancement CATS0006 (EXIT_SAPLCATS_006) be useful for this?
Any other customer exit / Badi will help.

How to control the timesheet approval

Hi ,
I am new to HCM and not quite familiar with HCM configuration. I am trying to figure out how we configure the timesheet approval. For example, for certain group of employees (salaried), I don't want any approval for timesheet. But for the other group of employess (hourly paid), I want to set up the approval for timesheet. What do I need to set up to do that? Where is the directory in the IMG?

hi,
if you are using CATS classic, the same data entry profile would serve the purpose.
in the node>timesheet>specific settings for CATS classic>setup data entry profile, you can notice a radio button named
'approval procedure for exceptions' in th Approval section.
You can specify a group against whose details you can check out using the F1 help.
For approval details you can navigate to the node timesheet-->general settings for all interfaces->Approval procedure and customise accordingly.
But i am afraid that the approval decsion cannot be made against employee group and subgroup .
You can make decision only on company code, payscale area, payscale type,etc.,
You can check out the feature CATEX and decide accordingly.
If you are using CATS regular, then you will have create 2 profiles and assign one of them to the approval view accordingly.

Error while opening leave/Timesheet approval from UWL

While opening the leave/Timesheet request for approval from UWL the following error is coming
Active component must exist when getting interface controller. (Hint: Have you forgotten to create it with createComponent()? Should the lifecycle control of the component usage be "createOnDemand"? "
The user id is not locked in R/3 and assigned to a personnel number having valid begin and end date and is also having SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW profile is R/3. Anybody having any idea why the error is still coming?Its not coming from any other ESS or MSS Page..

Long Text Icon in CATS Timesheet Approval View

Hi:
Employee created a timesheet in ESS. He/she also keyed in some long text in the timesheet screen.
When manager goes to the UWL to approve the timesheet, there is no icon to show that there is a long-text attached to the record.
May I know if there is any place we can configure to have this icon showing for the records which have the long-text, in the portal?
We can see the icon in T-Code: "CATS_APPR_LITE - Approve Working Times" in the backend. But I'll need the same icon in the portal.
Please could someone advise me on this?

The config steps are defined at IMG>Cross-Apps Components>Time Sheet>CATS regular>Approve Working Times.
