Timestamps are gone on restored text messages

Hello,
I was using Verizon Cloud to backup my text messages.  I recently performed a factory reset on my phone (Motorola DROID 3) and then re-installed the Verizon Cloud app.  For a while, nothing happened.  Then, overnight, it apparently synced all of my text messages back to my phone.  This had two undesired results:
1. The restored text messages overwrote any messages which I had sent or received after the reset.
2. All of my text messages are now timestamped with the time they were restored, instead of the original date and time.
Has anyone else experienced this?  Is there anything I can do to resolve either, or both, of these issues?

Personally I think a third party app from the Play Store would have succeeded where the VZW cloud failed. This app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore hasn't failed me yet in the three years I've used it

  • Can I restore text messages from a destroyed iPhone 4 if I didn't backup in the cloud?

Can I restore text messages from a destroyed iPhone 4 if I didn't backup in the cloud?

If you backed it up using iTunes on your computer, then you can restore it from there. If you didn't back it up at all, then no. There is no place to restore it from.

  • Is anyone having problems with the iOS 6 update? Random, unknown people are involved in my text messages!

Is anyone having a problem with iOS 6 update? Random, unknown people are involved in my text messages!

I noticed that after I linked Facebook to my iphone, I had tons of new entries in my Contacts. I found a way to turn that feature off. Perhaps that's your problem with randoms joining in on your convos.
Yep, follow the instructions listed by the guy above me. I also did this: Settings ---> Facebook ---> Contacts: Off (allow these apps to use ur account). That cleared out all my Facebook friend phone numbers from my Contact list on my phone. Hope this helps. Updating an os should not require oodles of work on our end.

  • HT1386 I last updated my husbands iPhone 4 and since then we are getting each others text messages. Sometimes when I text a person that is on bothe our contacts it will come through as my husband and not me.

    Try this:
On all impacted devices, go to settings, messages, send & receive and place a checkmark next to only those phone numbers and email addresses listed you want that device to recognize.
    Good luck!

  • IPhone restore from backup won't restore text messages?

Hey everybody! So, I went to the Apple store today with a broken power button. Luckily, I was still under warranty so they took my phone and gave me a new (or refurbished) one. I backed up my phone right before I went to the store. The guy at Genius assured me that all of my data would be restored to my phone as soon as I connected my new phone and clicked "restore from backup" on iTunes.
After I did this, everything was back - my apps, photos, reminders, notes, everything - except for my messages. My messages are completely blank. I tried restoring it twice - both times, everything was fine except for my messages. My old phone was iOS 5.1.1 and the one they gave me was automatically iOS 6. Could this be the problem? If not, what's wrong? How can I fix this and return my messages to my phone?
    Thanks!

Does the recipient have an iPhone?   I assume yes - you won't see a Delivered status on a text message.
If yes, does your outgoing message show as Blue or Green?
If no, did he once have an iPhone and switch to another device?

  • Restore text messages

I had a problem using itunes to transfer music between my laptop and iphone. i went to the apple store and the technician had to restore the os on the phone. he had to do a hard reset. i think he first did a backup but not sure, all my contacts and voice mails are there but not my text messages. i had some phone numbers which i had not save in contacts but used. is there a way to restore the tedxt messages. i tried to look into icloud but got lost.

You can't, unless you backed it up somewhere before you deleted it.   There are apps in Google Play that will back up your text messages and forward them to your e-mail.

  • Why are my imessages and text messages in a different chat when im texting one person?

when i am texting my friend and my message sends as a text everything is fine but when she replies with an imessage it goes into a different chat so i have to keep changing chats to reply depending on whether the message is an imessage or text message, how do i make it so they are in one chat?

    Greetings Tiffany,
It sounds as though you are receiving iMessages from your friend yet she is receiving SMS text messages from you rather than iMessages, and this is causing your conversations to appear as two separate items in the Messages application, is that correct?
I would suggest following the steps in this article to troubleshoot this issue, so that what you send is sent as an iMessage -

  • Uppdated to 18.0.2 and suddely all my bookmarks are gone. Restore does not work.

Hi There. Just updated to 18.0.2 and all my bookmarks (16 years!!!) are gone. Tried restoring but Firefox says it can't read the files.
    What to do?
    Best / Michael

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox Profile Folder.

You can also try to reboot the computer or run Firefox once as Administrator.

  • Can you restore text messages from Verizon Cloud to a Samsung Stratosphere?

I pocket erased all my text messages.  I have them backed up to the Cloud supposedly, but can't figure out how to download them back onto my phone.  Went to a Verizon Wireless store today and they were useless.  They didn't know anything about using Cloud.  Looking online here, it appears that I should be able to select them and restore them, but I don't have the download option when I'm in Cloud.
Any alternatives to Cloud to restore these deleted texts too?

I spent about 15 minutest trying to have the same question answered by the Verizon tech support people.  The first answer I received was that it was not possible to restore the messages.  When I asked why the Verizon Cloud offered the option to save messages, I was told to hold. About 5 minutes later, I was told that I had to open the Messages app and wait for the messages to download.  I had done that for two hours and nothing....Finally, I decided to save all the messages on the phone's SIM card using the Messages' "Save Conversations" option.  I then, transferred the SIM card to the new phone, told it to "Restore Messages from SIM card and viola. All the messages were restored.  I hope this helps. Until Verizon figures out the glitch in their app, this is the best way to restore your text messages.

  • How do I restore text messages?

Is there a way to restore deleted text messages? Or can a copy be sent to my tablet?

I know how important text messages can be, Sandman7256. Although we can't restore deleted text messages, you can use Verizon Messages to see copies of your text messages on a tablet or web browser. For all the details, visit www.vzw.com/verizonmessages.

  • Restoring text messages

I am unable to download my text messages from the cloud to my Sony Xperia.  Have tried several times to "restore" messages, with no success.  Any help would be appreciated!?

You may want to try an alternative way of backing up your texts, such as using SMS Backup and Restore from the Play Store:

  • Facebook Messenger - are these classed as text messages?

I've been using Facebook messenger for several months, and never had this issue, but have almost blown through my limited texting allowance this month, and think it's because Facebook Messenger messages are being counted in the text quota.  I almost never send/receive picture/video texts, and this month shows a bunch - I'm thinking the icons in Facebook Messenger are being counted that way.  Any ideas or confirmation?

I'm not sure, JimCKy.  I've always thought that Facebook Messages, like other messaging apps, use data, not texts.  I use the Facebook Messaging, but we also have unlimited texting on all our lines, so I really don't pay attention to our text count, except to note that the numbers are high and I'm glad we are on unlimited!!
What is the phone number that is being texted or texts received from?  Is it a known phone number or a shortcode?  32665 is used for FBOOK, for texting status updates and leaving comments via text messaging if you don't use the FB app.  But you are using the Messaging (Facebook Messenger) app .... I would think it would use data.

  • TS2755 Restoring Text Messages

Is there a way to retrieve text messages when the phone has been restored?

Restore the backup.  If the messages were in the phone when it was last backed up, they will be restored to the phone.
