Timing of music and slideshow

Most songs have dead space for a few seconds at the end of the song. I have used iTunes Info to set the ending point for a song that was used in iPhoto slideshow. But it does not seem to detect that end point.
Is there anyway to have a song end properly with the last photo?

Barry:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The iTunes "edit" is only recognized by iTunes. You can use Garageband as jdickey suggested (it's free) or a 3rd party audio editor like Amadeus II. With it you can combine two or more tracks, doing a overlap fade in/out type of transition, etc. and then save as a single new file. Then import that file and use it. Just remember to always save as a new file as you don't want to mess up any of the original tracks.
I tried GB but found it to complicated for this old amphibian and was using Amadeus before I got GB to try. If you're familar with GB then it will do the job. Good luck.

  • My Music and Slideshow

    Hello,
Not sure if I am missing something but I want to be able to go to My Music, choose an album or song and start playing the music. Then navigate to Photos and start a slideshow. Every time I do this the music stops playing when I get to the Photo menu. Is there a way to have music I have chosen on my own play while watching a slideshow. I do not want to have to go into the Photo Settings and set a specific playlist to play while watching a slideshow. A lot of times we have people over and they may want to listen to something different other then playlists that I already have set up or a random song from my music library. I have over 7,000 songs in the library and there's a good chance they may not like ma lot of them.
Using Apple TV 2.1, all music and photos are synced to the A TV.

    Hi,
I agree that what you describe would be a nice way for the ATV to work, but right now it doesn't work that way. You're either in Music mode or Photos mode, but not both. So, given the device's current way of working you have a couple of choices.
    1. Photo mode
Why not make a playlist in iTunes on your computer specifically for photo slideshows, selecting a collection of songs that you feel would go well in most situations. Or you could have multiple photo playlists such as Holidays, Serious etc. Then simply sync the ATV and the playlist will be available under Photos, Settings.
    2. Music mode
In General, Settings set the screensaver to show a slideshow of your photo album of choice, then go into Music and select whatever you want to play. The downside here is you have to wait for two minutes before the screensaver kicks in: it'd be nice if they provided a way for ATV users to invoke the screensaver on demand, like "Hot Corners" on the Mac.
Personally I prefer method one, because in Photo mode you can pause the slideshow wherever you want, move forward and back through photos with the remote, then resume when you're ready. With the screensaver touch any button on the remote and it cancels and your two minute wait begins again.

I have my Apple TV set up to stream my music from my main computer and stream my Aperture photos that are on another computer. I can access both my swapping the source on the Apple TV.... but i want to be able to play my music while having a slideshow of my photos...... i cannot seem to get this to work as the sources are different on the Apple TV ..... is there a way to do this ?
    Many Thanks

I don't think yoiu can stream from two different source computers at the same time. Move the music to the same computer as the photo slideshow.

  • Music and slideshow

How do you have iphoto via itunes, continue to play more than the one song you can choose from your collection, so that in lond slide shows the some song doesn't keep on playing??
    Thanks,
    GH

    Two ways
click on the slide show and on the music tab in the dialogue box that comes up
There there are two ways -- click on itunes so you have a list of iTunes songs in the window and command (the apple key) click each song you want to play
Or scroll down past iTunes to your play lists and select a play list you want

  • Keynote - stabilising synchronised music and slides in slideshow

I have made a self-playing Keynote slideshow with a (GarageBand) music track on loop.  Although I have timed it, tried it for synchronising image and music, saved it exactly as I want it, it seems impossible to keep this synchronisation on playback.  Images may appear early or late in relation to the music, which spoils the effects I'm looking for.  Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can remedy this?  I have tried recording, with voiceover on mute, and saving as a QuickTime movie, but this may still not preserve synchronisation;  besides, the movie is jerky on dissolve and animations.  Looking forward to a resolution.  Thanks.

Gary, many thanks for your prompt reply and the advice, which I shall certainly try.  You might have thought, though, that music (timed) and slideshow (timed) starting at precisely the same time and running simultaneously would have kept up with each other.  There is no guarantee, it seems to me, that pprecisely the same timings for slides and soundtrack will prevent drift in the middle, but I do feel that your advice is definitely good.
My camera club colleagues are hugely impressed with my Keynote presentations and several have been switching from PC to Mac.  (They obviously don't know what they can do with PowerPoint).  Come on Apple, what about integrating iPhoto and Keynote?  Or introducing synchronisation?  It so happens that I have been using Apple computers since before there were Macs, and have always used Macs, and am unlikely to change now, but it would be nice to have a complete package instead of something being kept back for an upgrade to generate further Apple income.  I know it's a business, and that everybody's at it, but here's an opportunity for a USP. Apple has already had quite enough of my money!
Again, thanks.  I am assuming that this is the answer to my query.

  • What program can i use to place more than one photo on a slide for a slideshow with music and text? I have my show on powerpoint but can I transfer that to imovie or idvd?

I am trying to put together a slide show for my son's wedding. I would like to put 2 or more pictures on one slide and add music and some text. I tried Powerpoint for the slides but doesn't seem to be able to export to iphoto or imovie. In imovie and iphoto i can only do one picture / slide. Any thoughts? Thanks

    Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
iMovie is on every Mac sold.
    Others, in order of price:
    PhotoPresenter  $29
    PhotoToMovie  $49.95
    PulpMotion  $129
FotoMagico $29 (Home version) ($149 Pro version, which includes PhotoPresenter)
    Final Cut Pro X $299
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro X is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

  • How do I create a slideshow with music and voiceover?

I am trying to create a slideshow with photos, music (iTunes playlist), and voiceover created in Garageband. I cannot figure out how to have both the voiceover and the music play during the slideshow. I also tried iDVD but ran into the same problem.
I also wanted certain songs to play during certain sets of pictures and I can't figure out how, other than to create separate slideshows for each song, how to set it up to show the photos for the duration of certain songs... if that is possible. However, my main issue is the first one - how or which program to use to combine photos (iPhoto), music (iTunes), and voiceover (GarageBand).

Use separate tracks for music and voiceover/narration so you can adjust volumes independently.
I also wanted certain songs to play during certain sets of pictures and I can't figure out how, other than to create separate slideshows for each song,
Use separate tracks for each song or use two tracks and alternate songs on these tracks so as to allow maximum alignment/overlap possibilities.

Slide photo and/or song to align beginnings and then drag the end photo "handle" left or right to change its duration to match the duration of your song.

Cannot select a music into slideshow and book slideshow presentations. In the older Mac this was easy. With new Mac OS X 10.6.8 it should work as I can stop the slideshow with cursor but pop up window for choosing music is dead. I cannot drag music into it. Preselected music just goes on.

I am talking about iPhoto. In my old Mac even in Books choosing slideshow gives a pop up where you can select a music from I tunes library. In this new one I can stop the slideshow with cursor and it shows music option but it is, as I said dead. Does not response at all to commands.

  • Slideshow Music and iTunes on Mac?

How do I get a Playlist that I have in iTunes on my Mac to be selectable in the LR Slideshow Module?  I have an iTunes Playlist on my Mac that I want to use as music on a LR Slideshow.  How do I do that?  I have the latest Lightroom and the Latest OS X on my Mac.
    Kevin

OK - I maaged to work it for myself and it is embarrassingly simple....
When I moved from having iTunes on my PC to having it on my MacBook Pro I decided to keep the ITunes library on a network shared storage rather than on one machine.
What had happened is that the shared storage drive had been disconnected from the network. iTunes on my Mac was still listing all the Music and even calculated how much of my iPAD capacity the tracks that I wanted to synchronise would take. But when I tried to synchronise it couldn't find the tracks, so nothing was copied to the iPAD.
Of course it would have been useful for an error message to pop-up stating that the media couldn't be found, but there you go. With the network storage now connected all is working fine again.

  • How can I make a slideshow with music and burn it to a disk?

I need to make a photo slideshow with music and burn it to a disk. I am able to make the slideshow but I cant figure out how to save it or burn it to a disk.

How do you want to play the slideshow?  On another computer or on a TV set?
If it's the former export the slideshow as a QT movie file to the desktop and burn that file to a disk with the Finder.
If you want to create a video DVD of the slideshow so that it can be viewed on a TV set, use the Share ➙ iDVD menu option.  That will export the slideshow into iDVD where you can complete the menu and project design.
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.  To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good and you can then burn to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed available to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Slideshows with music and narrative

I have managed to create a slideshow using Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 with music playing in the background BUT I have also, on a few slides, added narrative.
The music plays over the narrative so please how do I 'break' the background music to allow the narrative to be heard and then after that allow the music to continue from where it had previously stopped.
I am using Windows XP Home but am hopeless with computers so please keep any advice extremely simple
Thank you for any assistance as this has been bugging me for ages.
    Brian Holland

The original message was returned so I will try again.
Computers - don't you just luv 'em!!
    Hi Barb,
I still cannot believe that you are still trying to help me with this problem. So thank you again but please do not spend too much time on it as I am beginning to think that what I hope to achieve is not possible.
I cannot see that I have Premier Elements 3 installed. I have looked at Start>All Programmes but it is not there.
I have opened up the slideshow and left clicked as you suggested and yes the Properties appear.
I clicked on a slide then clicked the Narrate button on the right of the screen and made a short narration.. I wanted that slide to be able to play the narration without the music in the background so I left clicked the music bar and then got completely lost as I dragged here and there the buttons to start and finish but without achieving my goal. The music remained in it's original place on the music line.
I expected there to show a distinct break between the music and the narration and the restart of the music. As I said earlier I don't think it can be achieved apart from placing a narrated slide at the very end of a piece of music and the dragging a new piece to start on the subsequent slide following that which had the narration. My it sound complicated especially to someone who had no experience of computers while at work.
Please do not burden yourself with further attempts as I fear we are embarking ion a vacuous exercise.
Many thank however for you valiant attempts,
    Regards,
    Brian.

  • Iphoto slideshow to music and dvd

I am trying to create a slideshow of pictures to music and then burn a dvd. I created a slideshow in iphoto, but I cant figure out how to add more than one song or to time certain songs with picture sections. Can anyone help me?

You can add more songs by making a Playlist in iTunes and then pointing iPhoto at the playlist and not any of the songs.
However, if you're trying to cut against the music you'll find iPhoto is quite limited in that regard - especially as it has no ability to edit the music. Other apps such as iMovie, PhotoToMovie or Final Cut Express are a bit better suited to close interaction between the music and the visuals.

My computer will not let me click the box in iTunes where it says "sync only checked music and videos." So i cant unsync songs that i don't want on my iPod but still want in my iTunes. HELP?!

    These are your options:
    1. Restore the iPhoto library from the most recent backup that predates the issue.
Advantages: Always works, if library damage is causing the problem and the backup is intact.
Disadvantages: Impossible if you don't have a backup. All changes made since the backup are lost.
    2. Repair or rebuild the library. Be sure to back it up first.
Advantages: May solve the problem with no loss of data.
Disadvantages: May fail. May take a long time if the library is large.
    3. Scavenge the library with a third-party application called "iPhoto Library Manager," which you can find in a web search. From the application's menu bar (not the iPhoto menu bar), select Library ▹ Rebuild.
Advantages: All images should be preserved.
Disadvantages: All books, calendars, and slideshows will be lost.

    Chris

No, I have not chosen photos to share as I assumed that the Apple TV would access all photos and music that are stored on my iMac.
Thanks for your advice. I will check it out.
