Timing of Slideshow

I have created slideshows in iWeb, but do not see anywhere to time the photos. Seems the more photos I add, the faster it goes (not easy to see the photos). I know if you go into iPhoto, you can create a slideshow there with timing, but then if you export it out, it is then a Quicktime movie, no longer a slideshow with captioning. Can this be done? Can you time your photos in a slideshow in iWeb?

The timing in the iPhoto slide show is one thing. When you export to Quicktime it creates its own slide show settings.
For real control create your slideshow in iMovie.

  • Timing of slideshow is screwy

    I spent several lifetimes getting the slideshows for a DVD timed correctly to their respective songs. When I exported to quicktime, the timing changed and it would end too early or too late. What's up with that?

  • Timing of Slideshows

    I am using this thread as I am trying to reach Cyclosaurus and thought s/he might be checking this thread more often than the pre iWeb08 one. In iWeb 1.1.2 I am trying to change the time each image is displayed in the Slideshow. From a previous thread I got this suggestion from Cyclosaurus as follows: "Under the InitSlideshow line in the slideshow.html file add the line - slideshow.photoDuration = 10000; // 10000 = X seconds." This is what the last few lines on my slideshow.html file in the SiteName_files folder now look like:
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    <script type="text/javascript">initSlideshow();</script>
    slideshow.photoDuration = 10000; // 10000 = 9 seconds
    </body>
    </html>
    However, when I open the URL for this site, the timing of the slideshow has not changed. I hope Cyclosaurus or someone can tell me what I am doing wrong.
    Thank you.

  • Customizable timing in slideshow

    How about being able to make each frame in slideshow a different time if you want. I am using it for simple animations since I don't know edge yet and it would be great if it had that feature.  Also I want to use autoplay, but I want the sequence to stop and not keep playing.

    No can do in iPhoto for iOS. It's a bummer.

  • Keynote - stabilising synchronised music and slides in slideshow

    I have made a self-playing Keynote slideshow with a (GarageBand) music track on loop.  Although I have timed it, tried it for synchronising image and music, saved it exactly as I want it, it seems impossible to keep this synchronisation on playback.  Images may appear early or late in relation to the music, which spoils the effects I'm looking for.  Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can remedy this?  I have tried recording, with voiceover on mute, and saving as a QuickTime movie, but this may still not preserve synchronisation;  besides, the movie is jerky on dissolve and animations.  Looking forward to a resolution.  Thanks.

    Gary, many thanks for your prompt reply and the advice, which I shall certainly try.  You might have thought, though, that music (timed) and slideshow (timed) starting at precisely the same time and running simultaneously would have kept up with each other.  There is no guarantee, it seems to me, that pprecisely the same timings for slides and soundtrack will prevent drift in the middle, but I do feel that your advice is definitely good.
    My camera club colleagues are hugely impressed with my Keynote presentations and several have been switching from PC to Mac.  (They obviously don't know what they can do with PowerPoint).  Come on Apple, what about integrating iPhoto and Keynote?  Or introducing synchronisation?  It so happens that I have been using Apple computers since before there were Macs, and have always used Macs, and am unlikely to change now, but it would be nice to have a complete package instead of something being kept back for an upgrade to generate further Apple income.  I know it's a business, and that everybody's at it, but here's an opportunity for a USP. Apple has already had quite enough of my money!
    Again, thanks.  I am assuming that this is the answer to my query.

  • Are making, editing, and sharing slideshows any easier with 11?

    Are making, editing, and sharing slideshows any easier with 11?
    I have 09 and a lot of people seem to prefer it to 11.
    In 09 I gave up on trying to figure out making slideshows that fit the timing of a song and could then be sent to youtube.
    I know it could be done but it wasn't easy like sending movies to youtube from imovie 09.

    It's little changed. If you're timing cutting slideshows against a track in a precise way it will always require a timeline, so you will always be better off with a video editor.

  • ITunes music won't sync w/ iPhoto slideshow

    I've had this problem more than once so maybe I'm missing a step? I carefully sync music w/ a slideshow and get the timing just right so that the photos and music flow just as I want them. All is well until the next time I either reopen iPhoto or minimize it and then the music is all out of sync. Is there a setting I'm missing? With one slideshow I wanted to add to a DVD I used Amadeus to combine two portions of different tunes and timed the slideshow and music w/ a stopwatch but each time I played it w/ the slideshow the result was different. Surely there's a way to "set" it?

    Thanks, Old Toad, but my problem was a little more complicated than I made clear. I wanted my slideshow to have custom time settings and music to match the mood of the slides. The piece of music I am using was too long for "fit the slideshow etc" and kept running over into a section I didn't want. I had the time today and solved the problem. After much experimentation (documentation not explicit), I managed to use a combination of Amadeus and Jack to record and cut just the section I wanted and now "Fit slideshow etc" together with my custom timings worked just great.

  • DVD Interactive "Power Point"

    Hello,
    I teach a Humanities class at a junior college, and I am planning to create a documentary to play for my students. In addition to video content, I would like for the final DVD to have certain interactive "slides" that might traditionally be the domain of Power Point.
    For example, I would like to create a slideshow that is not timed--a slideshow where I could actually flip from image to image at my leisure. I have seen this sort of thing on professional DVD movies; for example, some DVDs feature an interactive movie script, where you just use the remote control to "flip" through the entire movie script, page by page. You can take all the time you want reading each page.
    Is there any way this sort of thing can be done in DVD Studio Pro? I may not have described what I'm wanting to do very well!
    Thank you for your time!
    Chris

    I have just finished authoring a DVD with a short 2 minutes movie and a "pseudo" slideshow build with 30 menus (each slide is a menu) . . . I'll try with scripts next time. I have to learn how first !!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks for the tip.

  • IPhoto '09 Slideshow timing off

    I'm using iPhoto '09 with all the latest patches. I have 10.6.1 OS X.
    I have a slideshow of 99 pictures in iPhoto using the Snapshots theme. I have set the duration for all slides to 7.1 seconds, which should yield a slideshow duration of 11 minutes and 43 seconds, give or take a second or two. However, when I export the slideshow out to a quicktime DV format, it is only 10:57... almost a minute shy of what it should be.
    This is a problem because I have the last picture in the set timed out with the fading out of the music, if iPhoto would just follow my math / timing I told it to.
    So I go back and set the timing for 7.2 seconds on every slide... exact same result... total run time of 10:57. I do it again and adjust the slide duration to 7.5 seconds... exact same result... 10:57. So I quit iPhoto and go back in and rebuild the slideshow again, and this time set it to 8 seconds a slide... export to quicktime DV... exact same result... 10:57, ending a minute too early and cutting of the last minute of my song.
    The kicker is this... The slideshow was 100 (vs. 99 as it is now) and when I exported it to quicktime DV it came out to 12 minutes and 4 seconds long. The only thing I did was delete one photo and re-export it and it cut the slideshow down over a minute. ***???? Shouldn't it just make the slideshow 7 or so seconds shorter when I delete one photo????
    I'm so ****** about this crazy crap... makes me feel like I'm using a PC instead of a Mac when this arbitrary and illogical crap happens for no good reason.
    And before you say "just use the fit slideshow to music", let me tell you, it always errors out. I have three songs that I fused together into one .wav file using iMovie HD. It is 12:05 long. When I add it as the only song it iPhoto's custom playlist on the slideshow, and then enable the fit slideshow to music option, it tells me that the music I selected is too short for so many photos, and that I need at least 12:03 worth of music... even though I have 12:05 worth of music selected! How is that too short for 99 or 100 photos? That's like 7 seconds a photo, which is fairly long for each to display.
    This is microsoft dumb.

    If you still have a copy of iMovie HD 6 I suggest you use that to add the music to the slideshow. Create the slideshow without music, import it into iMovie HD 6, and add your audio tracks where you can trim, fade in/out, and have precise placement.

  • Music timing for a slideshow in imovie

    I am new to imovie, and mac as far as that goes! I am trying to generate a stills slideshow in imovie and getting more frustrated by the moment. The timing of each frame should be adjustable by clicking on the little clock symbol in the bottom left of the frame. When I attempt to change it, nothing happens. I type in the change...it registers the change, but DOESN'T change for preview. AAAHHHHH!
    Anyone familiar with this problem?

    Look at your project preferences. You can set a default timing. If there is a checkmark next to "Apply to all stills in Project", remove the checkmark. This will let you edit the time of each still individually.
    If you upgrade to iMovie 09, you can set beat markers in the music and have your photos snap to the beat markers.

  • Timing of slides in slideshow. Change?

    In slideshow how can I change the timing of each slide. In the mac version I can fit to music or play any slide at pretty much any seconds intervals I want. I cannot figure this out on the IOS version for my iPad.

    No can do in iPhoto for iOS. It's a bummer.

  • Slideshow  with individual timing for each photo just does NOT work!

    i am in slideshow mode with all the jpegs on top
    i go to settings
    it has DEFAULT settings for the entire slideshow
    it does not say each photo gets its own timing.
    the arrows for the transition direction are greyed out
    am i the only one who cant get this?
    where does it say set a time for each individual photo
    at the end of my rope
    OT or anyone have you got a way to explain how to get individual timings for each jpeg in a slideshow ( source )

    yeah i got it working and it certainly can be done in iphoto
    there is so much arduous work one has to do to learn these i lives!!!!
    you first send it to DVD
    then it lands in iphoto
    and you can absolutely do what you said one cant cos i just did it.
    what a day all day long a learning curve for sure.

  • Timing different in slideshow depending on browser?

    Hello! I need some help! I have created a flash slideshow
    here:
    http://leilanimunter.com/EcoDreamNeverKnow.html
    The music ends perfectly with the end of the slideshow when I
    watch it in Firefox, but on IE the slideshow ends way before the
    music. On the other PC I watched on, the exact opposite was true -
    the timing was perfect in IE but not in Firefox. On my mac when I
    watch in Safari, the slideshow ends way before the music. Any
    thoughts? Thanks for your help!!!

    That is great and all, but isn't there a way to get the large icons without an addon? I got it working by simply exporting my profile from Firefox 3. There has to be an about:config setting that can enable this functionality, I just can't figure it out. Ugh!
