Timing on Slides

Hi,
I'm new to Keynote. The timing between my slides is varied-- some are a few seconds long while others are one second long.
I'm trying to make a self-playing presentation with 5 seconds between each slide.
Please help...
Penny

Welcome to the discussions, Penny2006.
First, let's take a step away from your current presentation. Create a blank presentation with 5 slides and give each a 5 second delay. Run that presentation and see if that's what you're looking for (be sure to make a change on the slides or give a fancy transition so you can tell you are actually progressing through the presentation).
Once you have that, then try working backwards, putting YOUR content into this prepared presentation. Each time you add something, do a test run. THIS will help you to spot your problem parts.

  • Timing of slides in slideshow. Change?

    In slideshow how can I change the timing of each slide. In the mac version I can fit to music or play any slide at pretty much any seconds intervals I want. I cannot figure this out on the IOS version for my iPad.

    No can do in iPhoto for iOS. It's a bummer.

  • Timing a slide

    I'm having a terrible time figuring out how long my 3-slide presentation lasts in total. How do I do this?? If its longer than my alloted time I'll need to shave time off of different parts but I can't figure out how long each individual transition, build... lasts. Again, how do I do this?? Other than this timing problem - I love Keynote.

    I assume you're using this to display a slide for a specified
    time, them progress, and finally loop back to the start? If so,
    would you mind please sharing the technique you used, or pasting
    the action keyframe script??
    I do demos for our products, and I had this kind of
    auto-timing (useful for tradeshows) all figured out for a standard
    timeline, BUT I've now switched to the Presentation format and the
    tools don't want to cooperate any longer... Thank you!

  • Changing Timing on Slides?

    Hi,
    I've just upgraded to iPhoto 08.
    I want to be able to play each slide for more than 3 seconds. However, on both the "settings" and the "adjust" it is grayed out so that I can't change the number from 3 to anything else.
    As I recall, when I started using the older version for the first time several days ago, the same thing happened. And then for no apparent reason, I was able to change the timing.
    I have quit and reopened iPhoto, but still I cannot change the timing.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Jeanei

  • Timing of slides

    Is it possible to speed up the default for Captivate so that
    the mouse moves more quickly and the slides don't stay on the
    screen as long? This is for a demo, so I don't think that changing
    frame rate in preferences would do the trick.

    Hi jay fresno
    There is a place to configure a default, but I don't believe
    it will apply to recording.
    You will have to adjust things as needed after the fact.

  • Manuel slide timing with an audio track

    My wife is a professor and she is wanting to post podcasts of her lectures. I am trying to figure out how to include her Keynote '08 slides in those podcasts. Is there any way in Keynote '08 to add an audio file and still have manuel timing of the slides? Obviously, the slides are going to need to be displayed for varying amounts of time depending on how long she talks about the subject of each slide in the audio file. I have figured out how to do the record function and record varying timing for slide transitions. But that also picks up noise from my computer microphone. I already have the audio as a file. So how can I record the slide transitions so that they sink with the audio file without getting unwanted noise recorded? Should this be accomplished in Keynote, or is there a way to change slides at the proper times in Garageband?

    I believe you would have to break up the audio and place a clip on each slide. You can have one audio file for the whole keynote presentation, but if the timings change it would be better to use just the sound clip you need for each slide. You could do this in garage band and import them through the media pallet.
    Hope that helps.

  • Editing Slide Video Timing in CP5

    I'm experimenting with editing the timing for slide video in CP5.  I have the video on one slide and now I want to distribute it over other slides but not equally like it does when asked when you first bring a video in.  I want to use the edit video timing from the Properties Inspector.  When I open the video timing and then try to slide the window on the screen it disappears and CP5 freezes.  Anyone else experience this issue?
    Thank you,
    Susan

    Hi,
    Foubnd my own answer to this (although the preview is still a problem)...
    My answer was to open a 2nd copy of CP....and view side by side :-)

  • Export Quicktime with Audio - timings to advance slides  -does not work

    Mac OS 10.6.1
    iMac 27" 4 GB 1067 MHZ
    Keynote 09 - 5.03
    I opened a .ppt
    I added an windows media file after getting it into GarageBand - so a GarageBand file actually
    I timed the slides - this does not work either as a side remark - you can not just enter seconds there - they disappear - you need to use the arrows
    If I test the slideshow, it runs nice in Keynote.
    If I export it to Quicktime, the sound works, the slides do not advance.
    (I think I had it once working before I moved my files to my new Mac)
    Help please
    nico

    I'm just posting this as a general discovery....
    I too have had many many frustrations with creating a slide show with audio clips linked to individual slides and a soundtrack music background. Of course this records fine and plays back fine in KN. The problem lies in any form of sharing/exporting. The audio either disappears or the timing goes nutty.
    What I discovered was....During a manual recording in which I advance the slides and the builds within the slides, the tap of the space bar directly correlates to when the audio would stop in the exported version. ie. Slide one, audio set to start automatically after transistion, text has no builds, Slide 2, audio set to start automatically, text builds with each bullet. In the exported version the second I hit the space bar to create the first build during the recording, is where the audio is cut off in the exported version.
    Therefore, if I go through each and every slide and set the timing for each and every build, transition, etc. , then record the slideshow so that I never have to hit the space bar to create builds (transitions to next slide seems to be fine) my exported recording seems to play back without problems. This is very tedious but seems to work (so far).
    I hope I have explained my findings clearly. I also hope that this is somewhat helpful to the rest of the world

  • Transitions set for entire slide show?

    In '09, can one set transition times for an entire show or are they still set individually as in '08. Can't decide whether to use iMovie or Keynote for photo slide shows and this is a key factor due to the number of slides.
    thanks

    As in '08, in the Slide Navigator simply select all the slide thumbnails and apply a transition and set the timing -- all slides will be affected. (You can select all the slides by a) clicking on the top slide, then shift-clicking on the bottom slide, or b) click-and-drag from the bottom of the left sidebar below the last thumbnail up to the top, or c) click in the sidebar and then in the Edit menu choose "Select All".)

  • Dumb boy wants make slide show

    Honest, I put in 2.5 hours of answer-looking before bothering
    anyone here. Here's all I want to do:
    Build one page. It has nice forward & back buttons and a
    dynamic window. Maybe a setup for timed a slide show. Okay, it's
    like the nifty Flash sites Lightroom builds for me.
    It's easy to administer, and unlike the Lightroom route I
    don't have to regenerate the entire site with every modification.
    All the how-tos I gleaned used general terms, recordsets and
    whatnot. Couldn't find a Insert Tab A in Slot B kinda thing.
    I've analyzed some templates in DW CS3 (and rtfm) but I'm not
    getting it. Or do I underestimate how complex this is?

    David,
    Maybe you have a real desire to reinvent the wheel, but if
    its just the output that you are after, there are numerous
    third-party solutions out there for you. I use this one all the
    time:
    ProjectSeven
    Slideshow Magic Demo. It is relatively inexpensive (certainly
    less expensive than the time you've already spent on the project).
    The main site is

  • How can you increase slideshow timing in photos for ipad?

    I want to change the timing of slide change in slideshow, photos for ipad 2. How do I do it?

    Have tried changing timing in settings to 20 sec. When showing photos through Apple TV slideshow in Ken Burns effect, transition occurs every 3 sec. Want to extend this timing.

  • How to export slideshow without losing resolution?

    I've used Macs for years, but I'm now having my first experiences with iLife. I've found similar questions to this one discussed here, but not exactly this question, I think.
    I have created a slideshow in iPhoto, complete with painstakingly set up Ken Burns effects timed to coincide with transition points in the music that accompanies the slide show.
    I would now like to send the slide show to a friend, in some way so that the friend can view it in very high resolution, just like I can, and maintaining the timing of slides to music.
    How can I do this? Exporting the slideshow as a .mov was a huge disappointment. Iphoto 6 only offers three resolution settings, and even the highest is much too low. Also, the timing got messed up in the .mov -- the slides advance too fast for the music.
    I tried Share->Send to iDVD, to see how that would work, but that failed entirely. I got an error message saying "the export movie file could not be created." Some day I'd like to figure out how to fix that problem, but it's only a high (i.e. pre-Christmas) priority if it's necessary to get my friend the slideshow.
    So what should I do? Will I need to re-make the entire slideshow in another application? That would take me a lot of time, and also I'm concerned about the level of editing control that I'd have in applications other than iPhoto. It looks like that would give me more control over exact duration of each picture, but less control over exactly how the Ken Burns effect pans and zooms over each picture, which is important to me. Maybe I'm wrong about that.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Medhead:
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The largest you can get any slideshow will be the size sent to iDVD, 720 x 540. If you create it in iMovie and export as Full Quality that will be the same. If you select Expert Settings you can select the H.264 compression with Best Quality compressions and multipass for best quality.
    The best quality slideshows, IMO, is to create them in iDVD from imported stills. You are restricted to just one transition for the slideshow, no KB effect but can add titles or subtitles to selected slides.
    The slideshows I've created this way and burned play on my plasma HD tv with great sharpness and clarity. Again its my preference to go this route to have the better image quality. Also with this method it's a true slideshow where the viewer can go backward slide by slide with just one click. No rewinding of the movie like with a regular movie file.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've written an Automator workflow application, iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • FLVPlayer appearing in Safari and not Firefox

    I've created a custom FLV skin and embedded it in a .swf file so that captions are rotating over top of the video. The FLV skin contains a play/pause button, a mute button and a frame that is overtop of the video. The ideal final product is below:
    The file tests fine when I preview it from Flash CS4, but errors begin to appear when I placed it in the site. In Firefox the FLV player (skin and video) won't appear, but the quotes work perfectly. In Safari, the file loads fine the first time a user navigates to a page but afterwards it gives me the same errors as Firefox. The fact that it loads fine once really throws me off.
    I based my skin off of a premade template, the actionscript is below:
    this.pauseButtonDisabledState = "fl.video.skin.PauseButtonDisabled";
    this.pauseButtonDownState = "fl.video.skin.PauseButtonDown";
    this.pauseButtonNormalState = "fl.video.skin.PauseButtonNormal";
    this.pauseButtonOverState = "fl.video.skin.PauseButtonOver";
    this.playButtonDisabledState = "fl.video.skin.PlayButtonDisabled";
    this.playButtonDownState = "fl.video.skin.PlayButtonDown";
    this.playButtonNormalState = "fl.video.skin.PlayButtonNormal";
    this.playButtonOverState = "fl.video.skin.PlayButtonOver";
    this.muteButtonOffDisabledState = "fl.video.skin.MuteButtonOffDisabled";
    this.muteButtonOffDownState = "fl.video.skin.MuteButtonOffDown";
    this.muteButtonOffNormalState = "fl.video.skin.MuteButtonOffNormal";
    this.muteButtonOffOverState = "fl.video.skin.MuteButtonOffOver";
    this.muteButtonOnDisabledState = "fl.video.skin.MuteButtonOnDisabled";
    this.muteButtonOnDownState = "fl.video.skin.MuteButtonOnDown";
    this.muteButtonOnNormalState = "fl.video.skin.MuteButtonOnNormal";
    this.muteButtonOnOverState = "fl.video.skin.MuteButtonOnOver";
    this.minWidth = 640 ;
    this.minHeight = 480 ;
    this.border_mc.anchorLeft = true;
    this.border_mc.anchorRight = true;
    this.border_mc.anchorBottom = true;
    this.border_mc.anchorTop = true;
    this.volumeMute_mc.minHeight = 40;
    this.volumeMute_mc.anchorRight = true;
    this.playpause_mc.minHeight = 40;
    this.playpause_mc.anchorRight = true;
    I timed the slides using the timeline, so this the actionscript for the main swf file. I wouldn't think that this has anything to do with it
    pullquote.addEventListener (MouseEvent.CLICK, pressLink);
    function pressLink(event:MouseEvent):void {
    navigateToURL(new URLRequest("../press.php"));
    trace ("Press Link");}
    My settings for the FLV player are below. All files are contained within the same director.
    align: center
    autoPlay: true
    cuepoints: none
    isLive: false
    preview:none
    scaleMode: exact fit
    skin: *absolute path to*/FLVskin.swf
    skinAutoHide false
    skinBackgroundAlpha: 1.00
    skinBackgroundColor: #fffff
    source: *absolute path to*/intro.flv
    volume: 1
    I'm completely at a loss for what to do with this and I'm not entirely sure if this is an actionscript 3 issue, a flash issue or something to do with the connection between the swf, flv and skin files on my server. Any kind of direction would be very much appreciated!

    That's an ongoing problem when you have shapes overlaying text boxes.  Have you tried embedding the shape, with text inside the shape, in the text box with text wrapping. That would lock the buttons to the text and you can make the text the hyperlink.  This demo page has examples: Photos and Shapes in Text Box with Wraparound.  Might work for you.  Otherwise it's a trial and error process.

  • Control layout of "Sliding Panels"?

    Is there a way to control the layout of the sliding panels slide show theme? I have quite a few photos I'd like to display in a rather short length of time. It is also challenging because the photos are stills I captured from some prior iMovie/iDVDs so the resolution just isn't there. Therefore I'm trying to keep the layouts with the smaller pictures: 3, 4, 5 panels at a time (which look much better) and remove the layout for the single picture, double picture which exposes the poor resolution and doesn't let me get as many pictures fit into the time I need.

    Thanks Terence, but I didn't ask about the timing of slides. I wanted to know if there is some way to adjust the layout so it only uses the smaller, multi-photo display in the Sliding Panels style. I'm not seeing anything in iPhoto itself, but I'm currently looking at a copy I made of the SlidingPanels.mrbStyle in the root Library > Application Support > iLifeSlideshow > Styles. In the bundle there is a StyleDescription.plist. And I notice there are 15 effect presets. The preset IDs are labeled pretty clearly. I'm thinking maybe if I delete some of the effect presets and rename the style maybe I'll get just the layout elements I need. I guess it is worth a shot unless anyone here knows of some way within iPhoto to select which layouts are used?

  • Slideshow titles are not completely on the screen

    What can you do if your slideshow imported from iPhoto shows titles half off the screen at the top? and truncated at the beginning of each title. It appears that iDVD is making the picture a bit too large for the TV screen.
    I checked it on three TV's and they al do the same. It looks ok on the mac however. I went to iPhoto because iDVD slideshow fives a black border alll around the slides using up about 25% of the viewing area on the screen.
    Is there any way to slightly shrink the ihoto slide show or remove the iDVD black border from slide show?

    Scale slides to safe TV area was checked. I don't think this applies to slideshows imported from iPhoto as they are brought in as a quicktime Movie.
    If you drag the slides into iDVD slideshow as individuals or an album i will work but then you do not have the flexibiility of varying the transitions or timing of slides.
