Tiny green dot in middle of screen

I noticed yesterday that I have a tiny green dot in the middle of my iPhone 3G screen. I have not dropped or damaged my phone in any way. This dot appeared coincidentally after upgrading to iOS 4 but I think it's just that...merely coincidental??
Any advice?
Thanks!

Hi.
LCD screens have pixels which are made up of 3 sub-pixels of red, green, and blue. It is possible that one green sub-pixel may be stuck in the 'on' position. A quick internet search for the term 'stuck pixel' will reveal that this is a fairly common situation for LCD screens, not just those from Apple.
Now, one potential way to attempt to un-stick a stuck pixel is to use an application that activates all of the pixels on the scree at the same time, and can change the colors through the 3 primary ones of red, green, and blue, as well as all of them (white) and none of them (black). The free 'flashlight' app will activate all of the screens pixels, and you can set it to automatically 'strobe' through multiple colors of your choosing. So you may be able to use this app to 'shock' your screen pixel and un-stick it. It may or may not help, but it will only cost you a little bit of your time (and no money) to try it.

  • All my puchased TV Shows Play with small green dots all over the screen!!

    Hi Everyone,
After installing the latest version on Itunes from System Update all my videos play covered with little green dots... Whats up with that??? Also I usually down load two epesodes of LOST before watching because one just isn't enough. Well aside from having little green dots all over the screen one of my Lost episode wont play at all... "Par Avion". It shows up in my Lost folder under TV SHows but it doesn't show up in my Purchased items. When I click on it it wont open either... However the lastest LOST, "The Man From Tallahassee" shows up and will play?? Itunes Store says I have all my down loads but I have not seen and can not open episode "Par Avion"..... Damm So this is a two part problem. Little green dots and the episode that wont open... HELP!@!!!

only way I found to fix it it is selecting each episode 1 at a time in order and syncing after each one.
    Season 1 episode 1
    sync
    Season 1 episode 2
    sync
    etc.
    what a pain
Edit. Actually seams to work if you select each individual episode in the order you want sync'd and then sync.
Syncing a whole season still results in a jumble

  • Why is there a small green dot on middle of macbook pro screen display

There is a green dot on my screen that always appears when I'm on my desktop. Also, it sometimes appears ranodmely when using other applications... for exapmle: Safari, Microsoft Word, iTunes, GTA, etc... Just randomely it will show and it won't go away. I've tried cleaning the screen with the cloth that came in the macbook pro box. Is it a software issue or a display issue, or is there a burnt pixel? I have the new Macbook Pro 2012.

It's under warranty.  Take it in to get it looked at.  It's not normal.

  • 3 week old Macbook Pro 2011 now has dot in middle of screen?

I bought my Macbook pro 2011 Hi-res 15" Glossy - Configured to Order  3 weeks ago from the Apple Online Store. After installing and playing a game this week, I notice that a grey dot appeared in the middle of the screen, especially noticeable when browsing on safari, with a white background.
Is this a dead pixel or stuck pixel? what should I do? What can Apple do?

Do you have access to an Apple Store? If so, take your Mac in for evaluation and ask. We are just fellow users, so we can't speak for Apple.
Pixel problems are a judgement call--Apple will determine what should be done on a case by case basis. If Apple determines that the display is unsatisfactory because of this flaw, you might possibly get a replacement display, especially since your problem is in the center.
    Good luck!

  • Tiny dark dot in center of Screen

So far the only oddity I have come across is a tiny (less than millimeter in diameter) darkened, almost black dot in the center of the screen. It’s not a functional problem, but gets annoying when watching/editing media. Anyone have any thoughts on why the display is producing this?

Probably a dead or stuck pixel. You may be able to get it repaired or replaced. Do you have Apple Care?

  • IPhone 5 Purple/green mark in middle of screen

My iPhone has recently developed a purple haze on the screen when using it. When I use certain apps, it turns green. It's very annoying for when I'm watching movies etc, so any help would be excellent.

Put your Tiger disk in the drive, then restart your Mac holding down the c key... it will start from the disk and allow you to perform the install... I'd suggest an erase and install, then run software update and install all of it.. might take 2 or 3 times to get it all. then install the Studio... and update it to the latest. At the end run "Repair Permissions" from disk utility on that new startup disk.

  • Flickering green dots... What's the final answer?

Hi, I jgot in my 30" monitor 2 weeks ago, but ..waited to find on ebay an AGP video card. Spent far more than I should have to get it, and now have flickering green dots everywhere!
The screen is perfect when directly connected to the monitor. When I use a dual link DVI extension I get them. I've changed out the extension and still get them.
I tried all the tricks I could find... blowing out the connectors, taking off of sleep mode, changing number of recent items (I'm not sure what this refers to) from 0 to 10, going into and out of sleep mode, plugging and unplugging, changing resolution and display from 256 - 1000's and millions.....etc.
All in all, something fixed it once! Then they came back.
Frustrating. So... Is there a real answer?
I'd include a photo, but I'm not sure how to add this as an attachment?
I've put a link to my .mac account here:

    Thanks in advance!

OK, I think I solved the problem!
The extension I needed was a basic female - female Dual link DVI
Since I needed a male - female, the store sold me a gender converter. I have since bought a dedicated M/F dual link and it's working. I believe that even though I changed out the gender converter twice, it was just not up to carrying the bandwith needed for this type of signal.
The problem is now solved and Altex took back the extension and converter, no questions asked!
I bought the cable through a local mac dealer.
    Good luck to all!

Illustrator would be better than Photoshop, but you can do it after a fashion.
Create a new layer, and run a blue to white gradient down it.
Now go Filter > Sketch > Halftone.  Set dot size to what ever you need, and contrast to high.
This will do it, but maybe not with the sort of control you need.
An alternative would be to use Google images to find the halftone gradient, and Hue/Saturation > Colorize to make the black dots blue.

  • Strange Green Dots/Brighter areas

I just started having a display issue with my 2011 Macbook Pro. Patches of the screen show small, faint green dots spaced in an even pattern. They don't appear in screenshots, and appear faint even when the screen is black, but are nonetheless visible. In addition to this, there's two "splothces" near the middle of the screen that seem to be brighter than the rest, which is especially noticeable when the screen is white. Has anyone experienced similar issues?

Sounds like a hardware issue; I'd bet on the LCD display going bad. Take it to be fixed asap -- I hope it's still under warranty...
