Tiny red dot appera on iPhone 4.

Tiny red dot appears only when I make a call. It's located above the speaker. I know its the proximity sensor.
But it shouldnt light up right? Anyone else have this problem?
I notice it for quite awhile now, but now it's getting me.
Is it because of the software update?!? But I had it before I update to iOS 4.1.
Any suggestion/comment will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

I appear to have the same problem whereby the red dot appears on the phone icon without no messages being present and I do not appear to be able to reset/remove it, enven though I have followed all the various threads posted above, thus the red dot pursues, aka the "scarlet pimpernail"!
If only I could reset it I would be really happy but no joy and I don't fancy performing a re-install of the IOS (7), so for now I'm having to live with it unless anyone out there know how to remove the "Scarlet Pimpernail"

It is probably one of the proximity sensors or the auto brightness sensor.

In first calendar sync with outlook after setting up iCloud account, there are numerous double entries for events on iPhone calendar, one with red dot and the other with blue dot. Also, some of red dot events on iPhone calendar do not sync to Outlook. How do I fix this?

How do I get rid of the red dot on my iPhone, phone icon ?

If you did that already and looked at your recent calls and the red dot doesn't disappear then try rebooting the phone. Hold down the Sleep and the Home buttons until the Apple logo displays on the screen.

  • Tiny red dots underlining auto-fill address and name fields?

Just very recently, my computer started to underline, with tiny red dots, some of my inputs into address fields, and even now, while I am writing this message.
Is this a virus? What can it be?

You probably have your Safari spell-checker on.
To disable it, open Safari, and go to Edit>Spelling and UNcheck "Check Spelling as you type".
    Good luck!

  • Crack with red dot on my iPhone 3G??

A couple weeks ago a tiny hairline fracture crack started forming @ the bottom right of my iphone.. I did not drop it, I have no idea how it got there to be honest. I didn't take it in to Apple because I figured they would say it's my fault. Well, now I just noticed @ the bottom of the crack there is a little flickering red dot.
    What is this????

As far as I know Apple is covering hairline stress cracks that are forming in the plastic backing. I've actually had 3 replacement white iPhone 3GS, and the only thing Apple has been checking has been the water sensors. All of my phones have been less than 2 months old, and in near mint condition, so they haven't had to question abuse, but if the phone was heavily scratched or there were dents I'm sure they would question abuse.
As far as the flickering red dot goes, I haven't heard of that before. All of the stress cracks I have seen have been minute and not even all the way through the backing. I say take it to Apple and show them. Just be honest and see what they think.

  • HT1688 My iPhone 5 has this little red dot of light that appears through the screen. It's only visible when the screen is dark. Does anyone know what it is?

    Nope.

  • HT4515 hi! I have a red dot on my phone and it is the first time I see it, why?

Hi! I have a red dot on my iphone 5s and it is on the phone. Why?

Is it on the Phone app?
If so the red dot means that you have a voicemail, but voicemail is unavailable.
    Is cellular data turned off?

  • How do I make the new voicemail notification (red dot) go away on iPhone 4?

I got a voicemail and listened to it and deleted it. now the little red dot over the phone icon is still on and won't go away. I have iPhone 4 and just updated to 4.3.5. I'm with TELUS in Canada. Any help would be apreciated.

why did you revive a thread that had been dead for two years? next time, make sure you're posting on an active thread.

I had the exact same problem. Iphone 5s on SpeakOut711/Rogers, Canada. There was no voicemail message, and yet the voicemail icon one the phone (dual spools thingy) stays on, regarless of how many times I check my voicemail.
I got it to 'reset' like this:
    - Call your own cell phone and leave yourself a voice message.
    - Wait for a few minutes.
    - Check your voicemail from your cell phone by pressing (touching?) the voicemail icon which has the red dot (although it may also work if you checked via land line, but not sure).
    - Delete your message.
You will notice that the icon disappears as soon as you hangup your call. It looks like some voicermail notification sync error between phone and the service provider.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Why does all my iPhones music have red dots next to them and won't go away?? HELP!!!!!

When h downloaded music on my iphone 5 four weeks ago, it had red dots next to every song and when I click on them they turn light red then back to red. They have a red circle with a red square in middle, and they won't load! :( They won't even let me delete the song    HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!

I had this issue on my iphone 4, and two songs listed on the iPhone in iTunes had the dotted circle.  I researched it, and I found a hundred different answers.  Some were complicated like uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes.  All I did was this...  In iTunes under Music, I simply unchecked Sync Music, and I deleted all music from my iPhone.  I then checked Sync Music, chose all the songs I wanted.  No songs in iTunes had dotted circles, and all songs on my iPhone played.

  • The music on my iPhone 4 with the new ios7 is not working. There are red  dots next to the selections and I can  not here any music when I touch the  spots. I just downloaded the iOS 7. What went wrong?  Everything else seems to be fine

The music on my iPhone 4 is not working. There are red dots next to the selections and no sound occurs when they are touched.

Can you play those songs in iTunes on your computer?
Make sure they are all part of your iTunes library before you sync and that they were bought with the same AppleID you use on your phone.

  • Iphone calendar entry comes up with red dot?

I entered an entry on my iphone calendar that somehow had a red dot associated with it. As opposed to either blue or green, home or work, the standard calendars I have. Sync between my iphone entries and the mobilme 'cloud' has been working fine except for this one entry. It doesn't appear on the mobilme server's calendar nor any of my ical's on my computers. I don't know how this red color was assigned to it, because I didn't, at least not on purpose. Any thoughts?

How annoying. I just found this too. Right after I re-signed up with Apple's less than stellar MobileMe service b/c I can't find any other way to sync my contacts and calendar. What a waste of $99 per year for something so simple considering how much this phone can do.
Anyway, here;s what i have found:
When inputting a new appt in iPhone - with MobileMe in effect - I now see an option called Calendar (under "Repeat" and "Alert" in input screen). When I leave new appt in default iPhone calendar the date gets red dot and does NOT sync with MobileMe. So - and here's the annoying part - the only way I can make sure my newly input appts get synced to MobileMe and my Outlook on PC is if I take the additional 3 button clicks/steps to click "MobileMe" in Calendar section.
If I do that then the appt gets a blue dot and syncs properly across the board
I am very VERY disappointed and how unsimple (unApple) they have made syncing contacts and calendar with this phone. If anyone else finds diff, please tell me
