Tip about fastest Firefox version for a slow old PC?

Hi,
The new firefox 20 is a recommended PC requirement on a p4 and 512mb..
I have an Pentium 4, and ive tested some of the new versions but theyr really shiit compared to 3.6.28 wich im still using..
The new firefox is running 140mb memory more then the one im using in a Game through the web. It annoys me alot, but still ill like to have an upgraded version due to security etc.
Can someone recommend me the best / fastest version for a very slow PC?

IMO, stick with Firefox 3.6.28. I have a similar old PC and found that it couldn't handle Firefox 4.0 or higher versions.

    For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4 / 5 / 6, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . <br />

I am running Mac OS X 10.6.8. And I am currently running firefox 5.0.1. What is the latest firefox version I should be running on my mac?

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

  • Help/About says Firefox version is 9.0.1 -- you say I haver 3.6.10?

I am getting this message Warning: Firefox 3.6 will only be maintained with security and stability updates for a short period of time. Please download and install the latest version of Firefox from mozilla.org/firefox. However, Help says I have 9.0.1 version -- So why does firefox still think I have the 3.6.10 version?

Your UserAgent string in Firefox is messed up by another program that you installed, and is locked on the old 3.6.10 version. <br />

  • With the Yahoo Firefox version -- 16.0.2 -- how do I delete a folder, empty or with items in it?

I'm able to delete book mark items within a folder, but unable to delete an entire folder with items in it, or an empty folder. It appears that this version is too recent for any of the previous help items to be of any assistance.
My Mac Desktop operating system is 10.7.5. The Firefox version (for Yahoo) is 16.0.2. If the JAVA info is important, I do not appear to have JAVA. I gather Apple stopped loading it around the time I got my desktop.

On a Mac you probably need to do this in the right pane in the Bookmarks and History Manager (Library)
    *Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks
You can't remove any of the three main bookmarks folders (Bookmarks Toolbar, Bookmarks Menu, Unsorted), but you should be able to remove any folders that you've created yourself via the right-click context menu in the right pane in the Bookmarks Manager (Library).

You can install '''Firefox Portable''' version to use only on that site and use your installed current Firefox version for everything else. Firefox Portable is not produced by Mozilla (but is based on Firefox released versions) and is not supported on this site -- has its own support forum (see below). <u>Firefox Portable installs in a separate folder on your hard drive so that it does not interfere with your currently installed Firefox version settings or personal information (bookmarks, passwords, etc.).</u> You can also install Firefox Portable on a USB/thumb/pin/jump drive.
