Tip for anyone wanting to increase their network download speed

I was just browsing the tips forum and came across a post for increasing download speeds. The results on my machine were fantastic. One download I had running for instance jumped from 27kbps to 56kpbs after applying.
Check it out here:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=122990&tstart=30

The serial number is what you pay for not what’s on the DVD as that is the same as what can be downloaded.
Boxes can be stolen and the serial-numbers they have can be blacklisted by Adobe when they discover the theft, so I’d be suspicious of boxes of Adobe software from a non-Adobe-reseller so be careful.
I’d suggest you buy a CS6 serial-number from Adobe, themselves, and download CS6 from Adobe or ProDesignTools, which links to Adobe’s servers.
CS6 can be purchased here:

  • Great Resource for anyone having problems rendering their projects

We see questions almost every day about rendering problems. Why does my file???
The best solution for most rendering problems is to use the Adobe Media Encoder. Joost van der Hoeven has created a new series on the AME for Adobe TV. I just watched them all. They are clear, concise and a great resource for anyone wanting to understand the rendering process and deliver high quality product to their viewers.
Learn Adobe Media Encoder CC | Adobe TV

This does not solve the problems in the rendering.

  • HT201272 Has anyone had problems with their apps downloading to their ipods?

Has anyone had problems with their apps downloading to their ipod? Or know why all apps have been removed from their ipod?

Possibly, but what problems?  Any errors?
If you are really running iOS 3.1.2 as your signature suggests, that is likely the issue.  Many apps now require iOS 4.3 or higher.

  • How to increase the camera download speed and save binary file speed

My camera is pco dimax S1 camea. The interface is cameralink Base.
    The memory is on board.
I use 1000fps@480*480 resolution to capture 1 sec.
Then download the images from the on board memory to computer.
The board in the PC side is NI-1429 board.
Theory, the cameralink transport speed should be 250MB/S
In the file format, file size should be (480(H)*480(V)*16bit*1000fps)/8=460.8 MB
Logically it should be download complete under 2 sec
But in my program, the real download speed at about 40 framess/s, (480*480*16*40)/8=18.432 MB/S
    (250MB/S)/(18.432MB/S)= 13.85
The download speed is totally slower 13.8 times.
I use the SSD and RAID 0 to save the file.
I did some test as below:
    1. Try to save png or binary file. The speed of binary had a litter faster, but it still doesn't close the 250MB/S.
    2. I try to adjust the resolution from 16bit to 12bit or 8bit to save the image. The download speed still 40 frames/s(18.432MB/S)
    3. I try to use IMAQ Sequence to save the file, but how to add in my program, can anyone help me?
On the other hand, I also guess may be the structure of my program have an problem cause the download and save speed slow.
    Attached please find the program.
To see if there are other ways to increase the speed of file written!

You have to separate your step1 and step2 into two parallel loop.
If you put the two tasks in one loop, the lower speed task will affect the loop speed.
So that the program won't achieve the top speed.
Is continuous acquisition required for your application? Can sequence acquisition or finite acquisition be your workaround?
The memory handling in continuous acquisition is way a lot more difficult than finite acquisition.
I would suggest you to figure out how finite acquisition work and then jump into the continuous acquisition application.

  • I am downloading a large file and want to know what my download speed is.  How do I do this on an IMac running OSX 10.8.2

I am downloading a 16 gig file which will take a long time.  Is there anyway to show the current download speed?  If so how?  I am running Mountain Lion on an IMac.  Thanks for your help

Thanks!  I knew it had to be something simple but have recently come in from the cold of Windows and am still learning.

  • FCP Keyboard Stickers - Anyone want to sell theirs?

    Hi,
I've been looking all over for the final cut pro stickers that come with the program. I bought the Academic 5 version from a friend and he didn't have the stickers. I'm not interested in the color versions being sold online or the dedicated keyboards, I just want the clear stickers that come with the original program. Unfortunately Apple doesn't sell them separately at their store or online.
Anyone interested in selling me their set if they don't need them?
    Thanks,
    Tamir

Stickers have a tendency to fall of after a while. Since you already have a keyboard, I recommend the Logic Keyboard keyset for FCP.
Or if you're just using your MacBook Pro, then you could invest in a keyboard cover: http://www.kbcovers.com/servlet/Detail?no=3

  • The No.1 Best Tip For Anyone Installing Leopard

Reading through all the 'posts of woe' and nashing of teeth and ******** and, well you get the picture, one thing is coming to the front as the No.1 best thing to do before installing Leopard........BACK UP YOUR COMPUTER...down load superduper (for free) and do an 'all files' back up, then make sure you can boot off that external HDD and then attempt the install. Actually for good measure get another HDD and manually back up all your data, files and media so at least you have another back up just in case. Also have your tiger discs at hand in case of a massive meltdown.
Most folks seem to be ****** off here because they have lost everything on their computer, and that would be okay if it wasn't for the fact that apple clearly states that back ups should be made. The truth is we have been spoilt with OS that never crashes and is so easy to upgrade, that when something like this comes along we panic. Without getting into the whole "was it ready to be released" debate, the fact is its here and any problems that occur in the early days will be swiftly eliminated by the folks at apple
This is the coal face here folks, its dirty and you should be prepared to get a little beaten up! I reckon we'll be getting software updates every day or so for a while
I still haven't been able to install leopard and I'm a little peeved, but I'll sort it out, and in the meantime I'll thank my lucky stars I don't have a PC and that tiger is still working.
Keep the fate brothers and sisters

It will be interesting to see how this all sorts out. I did back up. However, I installed as an upgrade on 4 different computers. Mac Pro 2.66 intel, Mac Book Pro Intel, IMac 24" cor2duo extreme, and an IMac corduo 20". All installs went without a problem. I do hope Apple looks at this and tries to figure out why there is so much variation from one to another when the machines seem to be the same in many cases. I think that perhaps as do many other programs that Apple puts out, there is an "Apple is checking your computer for compatibility"screen before the install begins. That way any program that might be a problem could be addressed before install. Also some useful information as to the install process itself might be helpful in the package as well. I.E. that the blue screen might hang for a significant time as it checks the hard drive might reduce some of the anxiety many of us feel when it appears that things have hung when perhaps they have not. In any case I suspect things will shake out soon enough. I think Apple has to learn that there are many new customers old and young that need a little more help than just put the disc into your computer and let it go. Just my feelings on the matter since I was fortunate to have no problems.

  • Tips for someone wanting to try no DE

Hey everyone so I just got a fresh arch install a few weeks back on a new laptop and have been using Gnome 3 and have finally gotten to the point that I'm done with it. I'm way too attached to simplicity to handle all the pointless eyecandy. I was looking to try just a basic no DE setup but I've had trouble living with no X before (elinks doesn't support facebook for example EDIT: facebook doesn't support elinks the order of that is important ) I have no trouble using the command line and would say im more comfortable going to say nano rather than something bigger like gedit. Anyways I'd love to get some tips and suggestions for applications etc that are important. For example if im going the no DE route I would love to get terminal emulator with tab support.  Any input would be appreciated!

I went the DE-less route as well, and it's been a lot of fun getting down and dirty with the desktop.
If you're wondering what packages to install, decide what kind of work you mostly do on your computer, and then take a look at the wiki page anonymous_user linked to. The lightweight applications page on the Arch wiki helped me a lot in deciding what kind of packages to install. As Inxsible already said, no one can really tell you what to install; that's the beauty of a DE-less setup.
Maybe you're looking for examples as an inspiration? My own setup consists of a tiling wm (subtle) and some programming tools. I do some web development work, so having a tilling wm where you can see your code and the page side by side is very efficient.
Anyway, I'd say you should consider using a tiling WM if you like going to the cli alot. Most of them are very light and simple and seem to be the favorite of minimalist Archers. That might be better, depending on your preferences, than having a tabbed interface for the cli.
When setting up your own "desktop environment" (ie not using GNOME, KDE, etc), keep in my mind that some of the applications you use might require specific permission setups to run. Look at ConsoleKit to see what I mean.

  • Upload Increased to Match Download Speed -... "I am still on the Slow Escalator"

Have had FiOS for quite a few years and love it.  Most recently, my internet was upgraded to give me matching 75 MBPS upload speed.  However, since receiving the upgrade my service became problamatic.  I DJ via SAM Broadcaster and my stream was cutting out quite a bit because SAMS was sending data (Upload) faster than my internet service was sending.  I broadcast at 192 kbps and because of problems had to back it down to 128 kbps because of the slow upload. Before the upgrade, my internet speed was 75 MBPS Download and 35 MBPS Upload.  While it was 35 MBPS my upload speed averaged about 30 MBPS.  However, after the upgrade my upload speed never gets close to 30 MBPS.   It is sporatic ranging from 1 MBPS to 15 MBPS.  All of this of course is wired testing direct to the Advanced FiOS Actiontec router.  Did all the usual testing... Factory reset the router, changed ethernet cables, tried testing with a couple difrerent laptops and same result.  I even did a self reboot of the ONT by powering it down, disconnecting the battery, then 20 min later powering back up.   Once I did what I know, of course I contacted Verizon via Chat Support.   They rebooted ONT, factory reset the router, had me run the optimizer etc.  Did multiple tests and could not get over 6 MBPS upload.  They worked with FiOS Network and did a few things.   Whatever they did seemed to put me up to around 15 MBPS when I did speed tests.   Of course, that was still not acceptable since I was provisioned for 75/75 service.  So, they setup a dispatch.   Today the FiOS Technician came out and did all the same testing.   They connected directly to the ONT with a device and confirmed the same test results.  That was a relief because it ruled out my computer, wiring, router, etc..etc...   The FiOS Tech replaced my ONT and BHR.  Once all of that was completed, retested.   After multiple tests, upload was still running in the 15 to 20 MBPS range.  They engaged the FSC and worked with a NT.  They tried to put the service on what was called "Dummy Cross Connects" and this did not make any difference.  The technician indicated it was being referred to In Home Network (IHN).  After the technician worked with IHN, they ended up re-initializing the PON card my service was provisioned to.   After that happened, my upload speed increased to over 50 MBPS which I could live with............   except, two hours after the technician left my upload speed has dropped back down into the 20 MBPS range.  Unfortunately, the problem has not been resolved.  Any suggestions from this forum would be appreciated.

    Hi budz4u,
Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe". Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

  • How do I increase the file download speed?

When downloading outside of firefox, I manage anywhere from 5mb/s to 16mb/s, depending what I am downloading and where from. Yet, when a file has to download from within the browser, it downloads at 1/30th to 1/10th of that if I am lucky. Is there some kind of restriction built in to firefox that I might be able to change or am I just S.O.L?

Download / upload speeds depend on 3 things.
    * The speed of the ISP
    * The speed of the sender
    * The speed of the receiver
Since you seem to have decided Firefox is the issue, lets work on that.
    Go to the '''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ Mozilla Add-ons Web Page]''' {web link}
(There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a download manager.
There are also external programs that can be used.

  • Tip for ALL Graphics cards running under Windows

    PLEASE STICKY THIS
This is a really useful tip for anyone running windows ME or XP.
It doesn't matter what card your installing and it really helped me out once.
    Use System Restore
System restore is a simple utility Microsoft came up with for things like registry changes or putting new hardware/software in.
All you have to do is:
    1. Set up system restore to monitor the hard drives or partitions you want it too. This can simply be done by going to start>all programs (or program files)>accessories>system setup>system restore. Once the window has opened choose system restore settings and from here you can change what hard drives are monitored and how much disk space restore can use.
    2. Before you make a change to your card (whether it be drivers or putting a card in) open up system restore as in step '1' but choose create restore point. The system may hang for a minute then you will be told a restore point has been made.
    3. Now any change you make to anything to do with the operating system will be noted by windows and the unchanged vesion will be kept in that hard drive space you specified in step '1'
    4. Should the drivers screw up your system you can boot in safe mode (by hammering F8 between POST and OS loading screen) and when a dialog box comes up saying you have started in safe mode choose to run system restore.
NOTE: BIOS changes can NOT be undone in system restore, and if your computer won't boot at all your  ed!!!
System restore should not be used if your computer is running ok, or if you can resolve the issues by changing drivers, using system restore can bring back spyware, viruses and trojans! If there is a power failure or your PC crashes when running system restore yu may need to format your hard drive.

Most video driver related problems can be solved by uninstalling the old drivers, rebooting, and cancelling the "found new hardware" dialog before running the new driver installer.

  • Increasing download Speeds

I have an older G4 AGP with an airport card installed, OS 10.4.11, 1.2GB of RAM and want to increase the download speeds. Right now it downloads on average 2600 kb/s and uploads on average 2300 kb/s. Is there any "tweaking" that can be done to increase it's download speed? Thanks

  • Download speed for iTunes only 26KB

Hi everbody, I try to download iTunes with 26KB download speed. Is this a temporarally issue? My cable has a bandwidth as of 50.000 Mbit/ download.
Thanks for quick help and answer.
    Heiko

Your download speeds are almost entirely dependent upon your ISP. As far as I am aware, Apple does not throttle your download speeds.

  • Cisco CSM - Has anyone deployed it in their environment for IDS/IPS devices

We are an MSP and are evaluating Cisco CSM to manage about 50 IDS/IPS devices. Each of these devices has their own customer signature policy.
Does anyone use it in their production environments? Do you find it useful?
Regarding policy management for devices that already have a signature policy, I know you can discover the policy, what we want to do is take the current discovered policy, modify it if we need to and then re-deploy it to the device. I'm finding that this is all read only once the policy is discovered.
Is there a way to modify the signature, for example, adding a logging parameter and then re-deploy?
Just curious if others had similar experiences with CSM.
    Thanks!

    haxworthy,
I currently use CSM to manager a variety of IPS devices (IOS IPS, 42xx Sensors, 65xx-series blades). The policies vary on some devices. CSM works wonderfully. CSM discoveries the various policies on the device on an individual basis. Policies can then be edited on a per-sensor basis or on a group level. Has worked wonderful in our environment. A nice upgrade from the old IPSMC. Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Hello, can anyone give us the tips for AirPrint option from iPad to brother MFC 7860DW printer

Hello, can anyone give us the tips for AirPrint option from iPad to brother MFC 7860DW printer

It's possible Brother may provide updates to their printers to make them AirPrint capable or provide app for printing; search the iTunes Store or look to the support resources for your model of printer. For other printers, you can route the printing through your computer. If you have a Mac, Printopia might be worth a look:
    http://www.ecamm.com/mac/printopia/
If you have a Windows system, search the web for something like "airprint Windows hack" and you'll find instructions on enabling printing.
Another option is an AirPrint-capable print server. Lantronix makes a couple of models, including one that supports a USB printer:
