  • How do i get the sound to turn back onto my macbook? There's an unremovable headphone jack stuck inside the jack hole

A piece of a headphone jack broke off inside my macbook, and i am unable to remove it.  Since it is still in the laptop, my laptop is unable to play music from the internal speakers, is there anyway i can override this and get the speakers to work without removing the jack?

Get a USB headset or a USB to headphone jack adapter.

I am not sure. I had a look at the code (I dont know Perl, though), and it seems that, in the end, all it does is issuing
    pacmd set-default-sink x
However, when I do this manually, it doesnt switch the sound to the other sink.
emeres wrote: I would check if udev recognizes that headphones are plugged in/out (udevadm monitor), create a rule and a script setting the default output via pacmd. Or create a systemd service, or your own script periodically checking the status.
Unfortunately, udev does not seem to detect plugging in or out
(udev monitor doesnt output anything when I plug headphones in or out).
However, I can see the change in pacmd list-sinks as described above.
When I set pulse log level to debug, I also get some output from there, indicating that it gets recognized:
D: [pulseaudio] module-alsa-card.c: Jack 'Front Headphone Jack' is now unplugged

    Hey there Kyleosipad,
I was able to find this nifty Knowledgebase article that gave some insight on how to fix your issue. It looks like an audio setting needs to be adusted:
    1.  Go to the Control Panel.
    2.  Search for "Realtek HD Audio Manager".
    3.  Click Advanced Device Settings.
    4.  Click Multi-stream mode.
    I hope this helps.

  • Headphone jack to stereo sounds nasty

I have an iPad 3 and today bought a headphone jack to RCA plugs cable to connect it to my stereo and pipe Pandora through it.  I know RCA isn't the best, but it's the only input my receiver has available, and the record player, CD player, radio, and cassette tape deck all sound great.  But when playing anything with vocals from Pandora via the iPad, it sounds like the vocalist is underwater.  Very uneven sound levels too, but not all the time.  Anyone else experience this?  It's annoying enough to NOT use it at all.

Have you tried a different set of headphones?
It is apparently a connection problem... this could either be due to the headphones, or the iPod's headphone jack. If another set of headphones gives you the same problem, you will apparently need service on your ipod - is it still under warranty?

  • Tip of headphone plug stuck in my iMac headphone jack...PLEASE HELP

Stupid of me...I was there listening to music on my imac then decided to get a drink of water, forgetting the headphones was on my ears I got up...Then all of a sudden i heard some kind of snap then I saw the tip of my headphone plug was stuck in my headphone jack. I can still hear the music from my internal speakers but cant use any headphones or external speakers PLEASE HELP IN GETTING THIS OUT OF THE HEADPHONE JACK as soon as possible...
    Thanks

You have confused me, because you are posting in the iMac G5 PPC area, and you have an intel. I think that opening the case is quite difficult, you have to take the front of the bezel off, and the screen is taped down and is not easy to remove without damaging it. You probably will have to pack it up and send it to the nearest Apple repair center to be fixed.
    Sorry,

  • Headphone tip stuck in headphone jack no sound comes out or goes in, what should i do?

i just got my macbook pro unibody, and first time i insert headphone in the jack the little piece of the head phone gets stuck in the jack. what should i do ? Does the warranty cover that kind of stuff( cause i think they should) or is there a solution? anything, please help!!

I had the same problem.  I tried tweezers, glue and neither worked.  If you can, bring it into the Apple Store.
Otherwise, a cheap fix so you can use headphones/earbuds:
I bought a USB to headphone jack adapter and it worked well.  This is the one I got:
Syba SD-CM-UAUD USB Stereo Audio Adapter
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001MSS6CS/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&p sc=1
I'm sure many other similar adapters would work too.
It didn't require any device drivers, it was plug and play.
Once you plug it in, go to System Preferences, Sound, and click the Output tab at the top of the dialog box.  Then select: C-media USB audio device
Your headphones should work now, but I think your internal speakers will remain inaccessible until you get your MacBook repaired.

  • Macbook stuck in headphone (optical digital-out port) mode. Plugging and unplugging headphone jack no help.

Stuck in headphone (optical digital-out port) mode. What do I do? Plugging and unplugging headphone jack no help.

Do you see a red light in the headphone jack?? If you do, then the microswitch is stuck and you need to turn it off. Try poking it with a toothpick.
If you don't see a red light, then try resetting the SMC and PRAM and see if these helps. Here are the links.

  • I have a rock stuck in my headphone jack, on my iPhone, does anyone have some tips on how to get it out?

I have a rock stuck in my iPhone headphone jack, does anyone know how to get it back, please, help me.

Maybe a fine nail or needle since the opening is so small. I, too, do not see how anything could get in the port.

  • Headphone jack got stuck in my apple mac pro

the headphone jack got stuck in my apple mac pro.. and they are saying i need to change the mother board .. is that true?

I had the tip break off a headphone plug inside my son's MacBook audio jack. Then it would not play any sounds.
The professionals at the genius Bar can only propose solutions that they know will be VERY likely to work in fairly short order.  I am under no such constraints. The hopelessness of the situation makes it a little more difficult, but not impossible.
Since it was already broken, I had nothing to lose, and went after the broken piece with a very fine dental pick.
After many aggravating minutes of fiddling, I gave up and did something else for a while. I came back to it later and got the broken piece out and everything worked again. YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY.

  • If Apple EarPods just randomly decided to break into 2 pieces and get stuck in the headphone jack, will Apple replace or repair the iPad for free?

After I was done listening to some music, I of course puller out the EarPods from the headphone jack. But then I noticed how the tip broke into 2, so half of the tip is stuck in the headphone jack. Since they were Apple EarPods, and I didn't inflict any damage to them, would I receive a free repair or replacement on my iPad?

Are you still under warranty? You're going to have a tough time convincing them it wasn't your fault they broke, I predict. In any case, someone else had a good idea on one of these types of threads: take it to an electronics shop as they probably deal with this situation quite frequently.

  • Headphone Jack doesn't work and internal speakers are stuck in mute.

So I have an 18' macbook pro with a 2GHz Intel Core i7 and running version Mac OS X (10.7.5). I recently dropped my computer off my lap while my headphones were still in. The headphone jack smashed into the computers headphone output jack I took out the headphones and they still work but now no matter what pair of headphones I use I cannot hear anything when plugged in. As well when I take out the headphones the sound output does not switch back to internal speakers but says Digital Out. I know the speakers work because when I was messing the out jack because I read when a red light is on inside the jack (which it goes on and off) means it is stuck in mute. That however has not worked so far and neither has putting in and taking out the headphone jack.

Use OnyX to clean your system and User cache files. It's free to download. Just click on the "Automation" tab, check the boxes and run it.

  • A piece of of my headphone jack is stuck in my iPad mini!

I tried putting my headphones in last night and a piece of the headphone jack broke off. So I took the piece and put it back on and put it into my iPad mini. When I woke up this morning, I took out my headphones from my iPad and I started watching YouTube videos. I noticed there was no sound. When I tried to make it louder, the screen said "headphones". I was confused because my headphones weren't in. I looked inside and the piece that broke off was stuck in there. I couldn't take it out! Someone help me! Now I have to put on headphones to hear stuff from my iPad.

Are you still getting headphone sound when you plug them in? If the piece that's stuck inside is still in there, I would think it would prevent the headphones from plugging in properly. If you plugged different headphones in, you'll probably push the piece in further and cause more damage. Sorry to say but you may need to contact Apple service via Genius Bar to extract that piece. You might be able to knock it loose/out by flipping the iPad over (heaphone side down) and shaking it while hitting the edge of the iPad with the side of your hand...but maybe not.
