Tips and Reviews of the HTC EVO 4G LTE

I am starting this thread for those that are starting to recieve their 4G LTE.
If you have your EVO LTE already and want to share your reviews, or any tips you have already found, please do so.  That way we can all help each other again.

I don't think they know... I am betting HTC had the Sprint shipments move to the front of the line and they got the first batches of phones that cleared customs... I read somewhere that they test one phone from every box/case shipped in before clearing them. All I know is my preorder with Best Buy still says back ordered and the preauthorization on my credit card is gone now (but those usually go away in 10 days anyway) but since Sprint isn't taking any more orders right now and no one else has them in stock all you can do is WAIT.... Sucks but I bet no one at Best Buy knows a true date and they don't want people to start canceling...

  • Can we please hear from Management on the HTC EVO 4G LTE Status

I am starting this post as a hope to actually get some sort of status update on the HTC EVO 4G LTE release.
I think I speak for the techno philes out there that are waiting for and pre ordered the device.  Back on the 17th we were disappointed with the information of the delay.  As with most of the techno philes in the world I have been following the news and blogs surrounding this situation.
On Sunday we were greeted by the news that customs had released some of the devices, and than the news that Sprint would be shipping the phones by May 24th.  Than in one blog I saw this statement which concerned me.
"So if you have ordered it outside of Sprint such as at Best Buy or Amazon, you will probably have to wait a few more weeks before you get your hands on your HTC Evo 4G LTE." the droid guy, http://thedroidguy.com/2012/05/sprints-htc-evo-4g-lte-coming-to-pre-order-customers-on-may-24th/
I think we would all appreciate some sort of statement from Best Buy.  Some information with anything would be better than living in a vacuum of information.
Those that have pre ordered through Best Buy, and read this forum are loyal and avid Best Buy customers and to be honest I think we deserve some information.
I don't mean to rude or short, but if it is true that direct Sprint customers receive their phones this week and we are left waiting days or even weeks for the device, something needs to be rethought.
Again this is a plea for information more than anything.

  • HTC Evo 4g LTE preorder

I was wondering if anyone had any updates about the Evo Lte preorder for Bestbuy. Sprint has already started their preorder as of 5 min from now. I have bought my last 3 phones from Bestbuy because I love their BlackTie protection and buyback program. I have been waiting 2 years to upgrade my original evo and do not want to take a chance on firstcomefirstserve. I remember the first Evo was on backorder for months for the folks that didnt preorder. If I dont get any info from BB soon , I will have to preorder from Sprint.

I pre oreder my phone one 5/12/12 at my local store on Thursday they received  4 phone in for pre orders and I was the 5th pre order.
Does any one know when stores will be getting more phones?
Can I cancel my pre order and return my gift card if it does not come in the next couple days?

  • IPod with click wheel not recognized by computer and doesn't show up in itunes. Have went through all the suggested tips and its not the cable.

ipod with click wheel not recognized on two separate laptops. Checked the cable and newer ipod shuffle works fine.  Ipod will play already loaded music and play from a dock.  Have went through the 5Rs and still not working. Any help appreciated.

Checked the cable and newer ipod shuffle works fine.
You're not trying to connect the iPod with click wheel using the short USB cable for the iPod shuffle, are you?  If so, that won't work.  The shuffle uses its headphone jack for the data connection.  All other iPods use the dock connector, using a standard docking cable.

  • IPhone vs Verizon HTC EVO 4G

I'm eligible for an upgrade to the new 4g but I'm seriously thinking about Verizon's HTC EVO instead.
I have a Mac, MacPro and iPad. Would the HTC EVO interface with those as well as the current iPhones?
Or will I be shut out of syncing all together?

I have an iPhone on AT&T and have tried the HTC Evo for about a week, and am planning to return this weekend and get the iPhone 4 instead.
There are a lot of things I like about Android philosophically (openness, cloudyness, dynamism) and functionally (launcher, multi-taksing) but unfortunately it just does not feel refined enough to compete with the iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4. Transitions such as scrolling are laggy and have truly bizarre physics. Also, allowing handset manufacturers infuse the OS with their own apps is in my mind for the most part a bad idea bound to create UI problems. While HTC Sense is a competently executed UI, it contradicts many Android design tenets and duplicates core applications such as Mail, which ends up causing confusion, multiple notifications, and probably negatively impacts battery and performance.
The HTC Evo is a great handset but does not feel nearly as solid as any iPhone. Also the battery life is truly utterly abysmal and pathetic. I've managed to drain the battery in 6-12 hours every day of this week with low-moderate use and while turning off features such as WiFi and GPS for most part. The screen however is wonderful and puts my current iPhone to shame. It has unexpected issues for me though, in that it makes the device too large to fit my hands comfortably.
Lastly, I had been warned that Android apps were well behind the iPhone in terms of choice and quality. Well, on the choice side Android is doing quite well actually and has some unique apps that may never make it to the iPhone (certain Google apps, Audible app) but overall I was quite astonished at the lack of polish that almost every app had.
So, I really want to love Android and would probably stick with it and see it evolve, if it weren't for the most pathetic battery life of a mobile device ever. But at the moment I feel like the iPhone still has a dramatic lead in terms of polish which to me is essential in a mobile device.

  • EVO 4G LTE - deal verification

I've seen a lot of conflicting information regarding the deals available for purchasing the EVO 4G LTE from Best Buy. I'm upgrading from an EVO 4G and plan on turning my phone in for the trade-in offer. I also pre-ordered my new phone in the store. I believe this means that I will receive a $50 credit (for the trade-in, regardless of phone condition) and a $50 GC (for pre-ordering my phone in store), thereby bringing my total cost to $99.99. However, the guy in the store had no idea what I was talking about when I asked about the GC. Am I missing something here?

  • Evo 4G LTE Back Ordered?

I pre-ordered the HTC Evo 4G LTE the first morning it was available (5/7) and now the order status id 'Back Ordered'?
Is this really the case? I just logged in to see if there was a ship date yet and saw this. Annoying if true.

Dan, I will wait for a while as this is the only phone that has really caught my interest since the original Evo 4G 2 years ago. My issue if you look at my original post had nothing to do with the delay, in fact I posted it well before I ever heard about that.
My problem is with Best Buy and the way they have handled this order since I placed it. I only looked at the status this week and saw it listed as back ordered, but I suspect it has said that almost since the moment it was placed. I have a co-worker that placed an order the same morning and it went to backordered status at once.
I posted here and emailed the online store address and asking about it before the news of the customs delay came out. That was Tue afternoon. To date the closest I have to any kind of response from Best Buy is you post above.
I did get this right after I sent the email:

  • How to rate and give review for the product in SharePoint Contoso demo site by the customer/user from publishing site?

    Hi,
I am new to SharePoint, and am working on Contoso demo site.
I want to know where to give star rating and review for the product in SharePoint Contoso demo site. Even after spending enough hours i didn't find solution for this problem. All the answers i got was changing the List/Library settings -> Rating settings,
if i follow that, i get the rating column displayed in my catalog site. How can i bring it on my publishing site and let the customers give rating or review for the product from publishing site. Is there any OOTB feature in sharepoint or it shoul be customized.
    Thanks in advance.
    Akshaya

Are you using the Content Search Web Part?  Just tweaking that once the source library has had the rating column applied should work.  Have you tried this?

  • Adobe Photoshop Touch for HTC EVO View 4G ?

Hello, I was really excited to use the Adobe Photoshop Touch App for my Android Device. I purchased the HTC EVO View 4G for Sprint and I tried to find the App but I does not seem to be compatible with my device! This is a HUGE disappointment :(. I believe it is not compatible because #1 the screen resolution is 1024 x 600 and #2 a screen size of 7". I chose this device because it has the best specifications in its portable size, not to mention the pressure sensitive stylus . Please don't leave this category out! I need this app hahah, but seriously.
Will Adobe ever make the Adobe Photoshop Touch App available for the HTC EVO View 4G?

    Hi AFlo00,
Sorry to hear it doesn't work with your device. We've had others say something similiar, my advice would be add your vote (and any comments if needed) here.

  • Palm needs a new device for summer on sprint after HTC Evo announcement.

First, I am a loyal Palm fan and believe web OS is the best mobile OS on the market to date.  No one is close to the ease of use of the OS and the pure genius of getting updates out and innovating and improving so quickly.  With that said, if you know about the HTC Evo and its specs, you tend to think the Pre is a drag.  A webOS device with a 4.3 inch screen would be quite the experience and with a better camera for nice HD video and HDMI out, it would be awesome with the new editing feature.  The most important thing is the processing speed.  If webOS was super slick with a snapdragon processor it would be a no brainer to pick this phone over any phone currently on the market.  Palm if you are listening, the palm pre was a great device and the pre plus only made it better.  It needs to go further and quickly.

+1.  I feel the WebOS is far superior to Android but Palm is falling behind.  I recently added a patch that makes my Pre way faster and is even more stable than without it.  Many of us that got our Pre will be up for our Premier upgrade in June and we need Palm and Sprint to give us something to keep up us using the Pre.  With other carriers now carrying the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus why can't Sprint carry the same. Maybe even a 4g version.  At this point if Palm has not even launched a rumor about a next generation Pre on the Sprint network I may be jumping on the Evo bandwagon.  I hope this thread is read and taken seriously.  There is huge hype on the Evo and Palm needs to attack.

  • HTC EVO Shift 4G

Why has Best Buy suddenly dropped the HTC EVO Shift 4G from inventory?  I called my local store and they just told me that Best Buy no longer carries that phone in their stores.  I also see that it's not on the website anymore.  I had just checked on it a week or so ago.  What happened??

Yes, I can confirm this problem in the released version. I don't know why apps would handle the hardware keyboard directly; seems Firefox Mobile should just receive the characters from the device. ??
