Tips for charging ipod

Hello, nmy ipod is in fine working condition and i'm very happy. but i'd like to know how is the best way to charge my ipod? because i've heard that the battery life (meaning how long it will be untill the ipod is completely dead) can be less depending on how i charge it. so what i'm asking is should i let my ipod run out of battery completely before i charge it again? or shouls i just keep charging to keep it full? what is the best way to keep my ipod in good health is basically asking, cos i want it to last as long as possible, please reply soon thanks.

sure, if you use your iPod in the car get an FM transmitter that charges. that way yu don't even use the battery in your iPod. and you know that there is only a ceertain number of times you can charge the battery. so this will also help extend it's life.

If all your ports are in use, try buying a USB hub, they are inexpensive and will give you several more ports.  Google for them.

  • Tips for charging new ipad

Really disappointed in the amount of time required to charge new Ipad.   Anyone come up with a plan b on this topic?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Why is my 4th generation ipod touch not charge? I plug it into the computer and the wall and with 2 different usb cables and its not charging. When its plugged in it shows the icon for charging but the battery never increases and it dies once i disconnect

I have a 4th generation Ipod Touch. It has been working for months when yesterday the battery started acting werid. I was driving and it was connected with the usb charger cable to my car stereo when all the sudden my music stopped and the stereo could not recognize my ipod at all. When I got back home, I tried to charge it so it wouldnt die but even while on the charger in the wall the battery continued to die. I charged it over night (the first time I have ever charged it over night) desperately to have battery for a 4 o clock plane flight so I would have entertianment. The ipod died over night while on the charger. When I unplugged it from the usb charging cable I noticed that the icon telling me the ipod needed to be charged came up. So I plugged it back in. The charging thunder bolt symbol popped up next to the very small red strip on the left side of the battery indicating that the ipod had no charge to turn its self on. I tried plugging it in on the computer, the wall ac charger and a stereo system made just for the ipod that also pluggs into the wall. I have used 2 different cables, the result being the same that the ipod held no charge, and it wouldnt charge at all while on the charger, and it would imediately die once i take it off the charger.
I have not idea what has happened ....
    Please help
    THanks!

    - While charging try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next try restoring the iPod via iTunes.  First from backup and if still problem restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
    - However, I really think that the iPod has a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.  If defective Apple should give you a refurbished iPod.

  • I want to use my new netbook for my ipod charger and storage

How do I use my new netbook for my ipod charger and storage?

I gave full info for how to do this setup in this thread with screen shots..
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4817218?tstart=30
Any of it you don't follow just ask.
The TC is really a complex thing to use, when you don't do it as Apple designed it.. and in fact on your iMac an external drive will be cheaper, faster and more reliable than a TC. But I guess you already have it so may as well use it.

  • My kids, ages 9 and 10 just received the ipod touch 4 gen for Christmas. Can anyone recommend a good protective case (against drops, they are kids) that is easy to remove for charging?

I have heard the otterbox defender case is great, but many have told me that it is hard to remove for charging.  Any suggestions?

The Griffin Survivor is a military-grade case that I use. It's $40 and I purchased it at Best Buy. It has a rubber piece that covers the charging port, but can be easily removed for charging while still in the case. The only downside of the case is because of the added girth, it makes the iPod unusable with iHomes or other docks unless you take it out of the case.

  • Which wire on the 30-pin plug is responsible for charging an Ipod?

Which wire on the 30-pin plug is responsible for charging an Ipod? I want to cut this wire so that I can use my Ipod in my car or on my computer without having to charge it. I understand that Ipod's are meant to withstand short charges, but I still want to figure out how to do this. There has to be one wire (or more) that is specifically responsible for only charging the ipod. Does anyone know which one? See wiring diagram below:

Yes.  Reconnect the wire and use the iPod the way that it was designed to be used.

By "charger," do you mean a USB power adapter that plugs into the wall outlet (used to "charge" the iPod), or are you asking about the USB docking cable that connect the iPod to the computer?

  • Where can I buy a charger for an ipod mini 1st generation

Where can I buy a charger for an ipod mini 1st generation

I believe that is a 4th gen iPod.  When you say "charger," do you mean the USB docking cable?  Or do mean a USB power adapter that you connect to a wall outlet to charge the iPod?
If it's the docking cable, it's the standard USB docking cable
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA591G/C/apple-30-pin-to-usb-cable
If you happen to have a Mac with a FireWire port, the 4th gen iPod actually ALSO works (better) over a FireWire connection.  But you'll have to look for an old FireWire docking cable on eBay (or other online source).
If you are asking about a USB power adapter, this is the lowest power version from Apple, and it works with the 4th gen iPod.

Guys, i am actually trying using a solution provided by the article shared by dominic23,
It says "Another option is to get an ionizer to help the atmosphere in the workplace be more conductive and pull charges away from contact surfaces, including yourself."
So in my home, we have such device that could clean the air using ion, and i am using it in my room...
Result: BANG!!! The electric shock on my macbook has gone!! I don't really care about physics but somehow it works! You guys should give it a try.
    Thanks again dominic23

  • What is the charging voltage for an iPod Classic?

I have just bought a solar charger made by Powerbee for my iPod. It offers three voltage choices:- 5 volt, 5.5 volt and 9.5 volt. I thing the ipod is 5 volt but could someone confirm this please, I can't find it in the tech specs.
    Thanks
    Rob

iPod requires only 5 volts to charge.
Do not try using the higher voltages as this may damage (probably will damage) your iPod.

  • Itunes charged credit card instead of gift card for own ipod app (Australia)

I have sufficient credit on my gift card. The T&C conditions of the gift card allow the purchase for my own ipod. Why then was my credit card charged? This has not happened before as all other purchases came off of the gift card including purchases made after the app was bought. Thanks for your help!

Same problem. So I contacted apple with this question:
My main iTunes account has credit (because I've redeemed gift cards on it) but when I try to purchase anything in the store, it asks for a credit card.
I have another iTunes account that has credit and a credit card, and anytime I buy anything, it bills my credit card.
How do I purchase using the iTunes credit that is on my account? I don't want anything billed to my credit card, so I just haven't been buying anything on iTunes. But there are some apps for my iPod Touch that I'd really like to be able to purchase.
    Thanks!
    And received this reply:
...I understand that you are asked for billing information even though you have store credit. I can certainly appreciate you would like some assistance, and I would be more than happy to help you out with this today.
I'm sorry you weren't able to make a purchase using your store credit. To purchase items on the iTunes Store with your store credit, your account information in your user profile needs to be corrected. I'll walk you through this process to get you back up and running in no time.
    1) Visit the My Apple ID website at:
    http://appleid.apple.com
    2) If the site is not displayed in your preferred language, click the Change Language link in the upper-right corner, type the name of your language in the field that appears, then click the Save button.
    3) Click the "Manage your account" link.
    4) Type your iTunes Store account name (which is your Apple ID) in the Apple ID field, type your password in the password field, then click the Sign In button.
    5) Click "Addresses" in the column on the left. If you have multiple shipping addresses, remove any out-of-date or duplicate addresses by clicking Delete. Also, make sure the state or province field is filled out correctly for each address. To edit an address, click Edit. Edit all of your shipping addresses and make sure the appropriate state is selected in the State drop-down menus.
    6) Now click "Phone Numbers" on the left. The area codes should be in the area code fields and the phone numbers should be in the phone number fields. If an area code is missing, or if it is in a phone number field, your account information may not save properly.
    7) Make any other necessary corrections, then click the Save Changes button.
    8) Click Log out in the upper-right corner.
When you make your next purchase on the iTunes Store, you will be asked to review your billing information. At this point, you can change your information or simply click Done at the bottom of the screen to proceed. Once you click Done, you should be able to purchase on the iTunes Store using your store credit.
And it worked the next time I bought an app on my iPod Touch! It was weird that it had my "Primary Address" and "Shipping Address" - though they were the same, I deleted my shipping address, and moved my "evening" phone into the "mobile" phone section, hit save, and problem solved. Weird that it was an address thing (I'm assuming) - perhaps the multiple addresses confused the billing process. It didn't ask to review my billing info when I bought something, but it used my store credit. Yay!
    Hope this helps!
