Tips for Exporting 1920 X 1080 HD for use in iDVD?

I have a Canon HF20 and noticed that exporting from iMovie '08 using Share >Media Browser or Share > Export Movie limits you to 960 X 540. I used iDVD to create a DVD of the 960 X 540 movies and had good results, but I am wondering if the 960 X 540 ratio is truly HD? And would going to the 1920 X 1080 via Export Using Quicktime make a significant difference? I would like to try using Export Using Quicktime and then using iDVD to burn an HD DVD, but I am wondering if someone can tell me what the settings within the Options should be in terms of the following:
Compression Type
Frame Rate
Compressor Quality
Encoding
Data Rate
And then Under Export Size Settings
Dimensions
Preserve Aspect Ratio
Deinterlace Source Video
And any other settings that are going to help me achieve the best results for exporting 1920 X 1080 and burning to DVD via iDVD?

Hi
*Movie editors*
• iMovie HD 6, iM'08 & 09 - might work to do the editing
I prefere when reaching for pro-quality FinalCut but observ that Express only
handles 25/50 and 29.97/60 fps.
So if You are thinking 1920 x 1080 24 fps - ONLY as far as I know option is
FinalCut Studio Pro. Which can do this !
*DVD burning programs*
• NO version of iDVD can handle HD yet - up till iDVD 09
*Options are*
• DVD Studio pro in FinalCut Studio Pro bundle (me guessing - but feeling safe)
• Roxio Toast™ 10 Pro incl Blue-Ray component - Can do this

  • How to export 1920 X 1080 for wide screen viewing on DVD?

I want to export 1920 X 1080 video so I can make a DVD and watch on a widescreen TV without stretching. What settings do I use? Tried several. Not working. I'm on a deadline and got to get this done right. Thanks for any help. Just looking for the export settings.

If you are just making it for yourself, check to see if your DVD player supports any of the various HD on DVD(Divx, etc) technologies and go from there. If you are looking for a more universal solution to HD on DVDs, there is not one.

  • Setting in Project Properties for PAL 1920 x 1080

    Hi there,
I have been using LiveType in Std Def without problem.
Now I have switched to HD, my FCE4 is editing in PAL 1920 x 1080.
What setting is FILE > Project Properties shall I set in LiveType because I see the canvas has gone too big & not managable !!

    Thanks

Another way to automatically adjust the properties is to simply drop in a small piece of video in the required format via the Place Background Movie command in the File menu. Save the setting and then delete the video.
I see the canvas has gone too big & not managable !!
Click the percentage button at the bottom left of the Viewer. Set it to "Fit to Screen".
    Thanks Nick.
But how do fix the size of all the various windows.
After I adjust until all the 4 windows are to my liking, I work on it.
But when I close Live Type and I fired up Live Type on the next time, all the 4 windows go haywire in size again. How do I fixed (and save) the size of the 4 windows once & for all ?

  • Audio out of synch in CS6 for iPhone 1920 x 1080?

When I play a clip, even before adding it to a sequence, the audio finishes before the video finishes, and the synch is way out of line by several seconds at the end of the 46 second clip.
FiLMiC Pro was used to record it.
In VLC, it plays perfectly, but strangely shows the frame rate as 23.365755.
    Codec is H.264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)
    1920 x 1080
Audio is MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a)  - sample rate 48000hz
I've tried creating a sequence from the clip (by drag/dropping) and the sequence that Prmiere creates says a frame rate of 24p.
What can I do to resolve this, I need to use these tesitimonials and can't really re-shoot them.
    Thanks!

...strangely shows the frame rate as 23.365755.
Is the video variable frame rate?
You can use one of these utilities to find out:
    GSpot
    http://www.headbands.com/gspot/
    MediaInfo
    http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en
If it is variable frame rate media, Premiere doesn't like it.

  • Quicktime Export 1920 x 1080

    Hi
    Using CS5 Master Collection.
I am giving my finished output to someone who is doing color correction for me.  The source is 1920 x 1080, (1.9), 29.97 fps Progressive.
They want a quicktime format.  Not an AVI.
I am looking at the Export Settings for QuickTime and I only see 720 x 480, in various flavors.
Certainly there must be a way in premiere to export to Quicktime 1920 x 1080????
I assume there are plenty of threads here, but thought I'd start from scratch and get some recommended "best practices" for this issue.
    Thanks
    Rowby

    Good day to you all.
I'm having real problems exporting to Quicktime but I'm in the UK and obviously the format is PAL rather than NTSC, but I'm not sure if that affects the QuickTime settings.
I'm using PPro CS5 and I have downloaded the AVID codecs, mentioned above, and I can see them in the Video Codec menu.
    My source file is:
    Format: .avi
    Frame rate: 25
    Duration: 5m 30s
    Size: 720 x 576 (1.4587)
    Audio: 48000Hz - 16 bit - stereo
I want to output this to play on iPads, Macs, etc. in the UK. Which setting should I be using as I have gone around in ever decreasing circles and keep getting the "Error compiling movie", "Unable to create or open output file" dialogue.
    Many thanks in advance.

  • Best options for exporting true HD 1080

I want to import HD video from a Canon HV20 and edit in FCE 4 and then export the edited movie in a format which I can write to Blu Ray disc and view through a Blu Ray set top box or PS3.
What are the best settings to use in FCE4 as i'm really getting confused with all the different formats?
    Thanks
    Mark

I have a Canon HV30 and capture into FCP in native HDV, 8 bit Uncompressed and ProRes 422 HQ (depending on the importance of my capture). In any of those cases, I export as an MPEG 2 Program Stream or MPEG 4 H.264 to play on the PS3. You can either dump that file to the internal PS3 HDD or I have a 500gb USB 2.0 drive connected to it which holds all my home movie exports. It's MUCH cheaper than a blu-ray player and blu -ray media.....and to my eyes....it looks the same as when I experimented with burning blu-rays.
Remember folks, these cams aren't the same HD cams used on ESPN. You're only as good as your weakest link and in this case....it's a consumer grade HD cam. This is why I bought a Black Magic Intensity HDMI capture card and capture mostly in Uncompressed 8 bit or ProRes 422.
Even with HDV, you'll get a better image if you're able to export your final sequence to a high bit ate MPEG 2 and dump it on the PS3.
    My 2 cents

  • Export 1920 X 1080 HD QT clips?

Hi I just need to Export some short QT clips and Burn them to DVD for someone to use on their project.
Can someone just tell me how can I confirm that the clips are still in HD 1920x1080 once on disc.
Item properties tells me that they are originally that size eg 86MB, 7.1MB/Sec and 11 seconds long so I Export>Quick time movie to desk top but "Get Info" tells me it is now only 2.4MB on disk. I now open that clip in Quick time player and Window>Show movie Inspector tells me it is Size= 131MB and 90.08mbits/sec so I am confused how do you ensure you have Exported full HD all the way onto disc? Quick Time player looks like it says it has, but why does "Get info" tell me only 2.4MB on disc? If anyone can help please be my guest, thanks.
P.S. I uncheck "Make movie self contained"

  • Best compression for exporting large files from iMovie for use in iDVD?

I have a doco that I've made as separate projects too slow to make it all in one project - which I then exported as Quicktime .mov files. When I assembled the .mov files in iDVD I ended up with 4.7GB of material which iDVD flipped out on and crashed.
What would be the best compression to apply to the large .mov files but reduce the overall file sizes by say 10%
Its sometimes taking up to 6 hours to render each project average total screentime per project is about 70 minutes and each project file size ranges from 1 to 6GB...
I feel like I'm a little out of my depth on this one!
    Any suggestions for this dilemma?
    Thanks
    Tony

When I assembled the .mov files in iDVD I ended up with 4.7GB of material which iDVD flipped out on and crashed... Any suggestions for this dilemma?
Not sure if your 4.7GB reference is for the source files or the resulting "muxed" MPEG2/PCM encoded content. In any case a single layer DVD is limited to 4.7 GBs of total content. To be safe, this usually means you are limited to 4.2 to 4.3 GB of encoded movie and/or slideshow content depending on how many and what type of menus you are creating created. Thus, if you are encoding for a single-layer DVD and your project encoded content exceeds the capacity of your DVD, then this would likely explain your problem.
If your project size reference is for the source content being added to your iDVD project, then it is totally irrelevant and you need to concentrate on the total duration of your iDVD and the method of encoding instead of file size. Basically, for a single-layer DVD, only about 60 minutes content can be encoded using the "Best Performance" encode option, 90 minutes using the "High Quality" setting, or 2 hours in the "Professional Quality" encode mode. Thus, if your content duration exceeds the capacity of your encoding mode here, it would likely explain your problem.
In either case, the solution would be to either burn to higher capacity optical media/higher capacity encoding mode or burn your content to multiple DVDs as individual projects at the current media capacity/encoding mode.

  • No Quicktime 1920 x 1080 export

    I have a 1440 x 1080 project and I'm trying to export it as a H.264 file 1920 x 1080.
The export movie function will not allow this, nor will Adobe Media Encoder.
CS3 stops encoding and will give me the following errors.
    "No Output Generated!"
"Premiere is running very low on system memory, etc."
I can however export H.264 960 x 540 all day long with no problems.
    I can even export AVI at 1920 x 1080.
    For some reason I can't export H.264 files at 1920 x 1080.
I've read all the help and searched the forums a million times.
I've got my system memory, Page file, etc. configured as suggested by Adobe help documents.
Do you have any suggestions on what this could be and how to fix?????
    System:
    650 Workstation
    2 x 3.06 Xeons
    2Gigs RAM
    HD 1: System
    HD 2: Clips
    HD 3: Scratch
    CS3 3.1.1
    Quicktime Pro 7.3.1

I put one minute of HDV on a sequence (1500 frames) and exported to Quicktime using H.264 at 1920X1080 and it worked for me.
I have Quicktime Pro 7.4.1 though.
Unbelievably slow for an export of straight cuts. More than 5 times realtime. I used a data rate of only 7,680 (the default).
This may not help much, but at least you know it should be possible.

  • GTS SCD (Supplementary Customs Declaration) for Export  set up?

    Dear experts,
I'm trying to set up the SCD for export.
Use: not sending every CD for export transactionally, but grouped, e.g. monthly
Via the menu: Import / Export < Create SCD => there is only 3 possiblities (free circulation, discharge CWH, declaration CWH), these are all 3 related to import no?
How can I set this up for export?
    authorization OK
procedure CUSPEX set up for legal regulation CUSBE (export belgium), seems OK,
what can I be missing to set this up?
When this is set up for export, do you always need to use the worklist to group the entries together or can this already be done automatically somehow (eg every export CD gets linked to the open SCD?)
    Thanks!

    Hi Isabelle,
I wonder if you have misunderstood the requirement?  Domestic Issues are not Exports (there's a clue in the name), but instead they remove stock from the Customs Warehouse to free-circulation.  So periodically you need to declare those Imports, and that's the purpose of the SCD.
    I hope that helps.
    Kind regards,
    Dave

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, format for exporting video to web.

On the Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 I used the format "H.264" and preset "Apple Ipad 400x224, 16x9, 29.97, 400kbps." That preset isn't available in the Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 edition. What would you recommend that would be comparable and good for exporting a one-hour video for use on the web (Vimeo, to be specific)?

    You're in the wrong forum.

  • What is the best way to export to achieve clear video for the internet?

Is it best to just use a preset? or are there other ways to get that clear look that you get when you watch the high def mp4 straight out of the app...?
I notice that some video is much more detailed and higher res looking...but when i upload to youtube it doesnt quite look as good...blurry... especially with smaller sizes...
    Any suggestions?
    Thx in advance.

    i agree with you Jim.
    but i didnt do that.
shot at 24p. never went anywhere near 30 for any of it. i exported at 23.987 because i read somewhere that that might be better for web video...cant even remember where...also my exports from AE were all 24p. i guess i will just keep it the same across the board.
i just wander if i use the animation codec out of after effects, full on lossless, if it would improve anythiing for the final render. I used an avid codec for export out of after effects for a better file size for the clips i put into premiere. seemed to work alright. then use h264 playback codec when i exported the final.
there is just such a difference in quality for some of the reels i see. i want that quality. clarity.

  • HDV exported as ProRes 422 produces 4:3 in iDVD?

AVCHD exported from FCP X as ProRes 422 works perfectly in iDVD producing a 16:9 DVD.
HDV doesn't, even though QT Player plays it perfectly.
The odd thing is that 4 years ago, using legacy FCP my exported HDV videos had no problems being recognised as 16:9 by iDVD.
So why are FCP X produced HDV videos not recognised as 16:9?
P.S.  I know that iDVD never recognised DV in the 16:9 format but it always worked with HDV.
Incidentally, the old trick of opening it in QT Pro and changing the frame size to 1024 x 576 does not work!

The AVCHD was actually 50p footage in a 25p project exported as ProRes via Share>Export Media.
    Worked perfectly in iDVD.
The HDV was standard 1440 x 1080 treated just the same and came out as 4:3 in iDVD which I suppose is what it is when the pixels are square.
    I have found a workaround/solution.
Make a ProRes 422 custom preset in Compressor specifying a frame size of 1920 x 1080.
Works perfectly and iDVD sees it correctly as 16:9.
Only downside is that converting using the custom preset takes at least twice as long.
Regarding the weird moire pattern when using FCP 7, I have just exported the clips as ProRes 422 1920 x 1080 and they appear normal.
The moire pattern appeared when I exported the clips as native HDV, something I always did years go with no problems.
So I have found workarounds but not solutions.
