Tips for installing DW CS4

I own Creative Suite Design Premium CS3 (and all the earlier versions).
I downloaded DW CS4 Beta back during the Beta cycle, took it for a whirl and decided against upgrading.
I've now received the Design Premium CS3 to CS4 Upgrade as a gift (lucky me).
Before doing anything else I ran the CS4 Cleanup script which went OK.
I then installed the CS4 upgrade which seemed to go for hours but went smoothly.
However every time I launch DW CS4, the splash screen tells me that CS4 Beta is running (!) and prompts me for a (presumably standalone) Serial No (the Suite serial no is not accepted).
All other apps run fine.
I've uninstalled CS4 twice, run the CS4 cleanup script twice and reinstalled CS4 but DW CS4 Beta will not go away.
I'm aware that this issue needs to be directed to Customer Service but I thought I'd first see if anyone's conquered this issue by their own means.

Thanks Nadia.
I'm going to try one final approach by uninstalling all software detected by the CS4 Cleanup script plus I think I'll uninstall DW CS3 too. Then reinstall CS4.
As a last resort, I'll uninstall and reinstall all Adobe software.
I'm really disappointed that the CS4 Cleanup script has not properly cleaned up all the detritus left behind by the CS4 Beta.
I really don't fancy the prospect of sitting on the phone with Tech Support for an hour or two (with them flying blind and guessing the next step) given that they'll follow the same steps I've already tried.

  • Tip for installing App Dev CD into WLS on 64-bit windows

    Hi All,
    After pulling out some hair, I thought I'd share this tip.
    Scenario:
    You are installing WebLogic 10.3.x on a 64-bit Windows platform, but are using a 32-bit JDK. You want to install the Application Development CD so that you can extend your WLS domains with the JRF, EM, etc.
    Symptoms:
    You run setup.exe, the installer prompts you for a location of a JRE/JDK and you give it the 32-bit JDK location. The installer then quits without so much as a peep.
    Solution:
    Instead of running setup.exe, navigate to install\win32 and run that setup.exe instead. The same thing works for installing the SOA suite.
    Hope this saves someone else some time too.
    John

    Thanks for the help - I edited the C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\test_domain2\bin\setDomainEnv.cmd file as follows:
    @REM set BEA_JAVA_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware\jrockit_160_24_D1.1.2-4 (I commented out this line)
    set BEA_JAVA_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24 (I added this line)
    set SUN_JAVA_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24 (this line was already here)
    After confirming ENV's:
    Path=C:\Java\jdk1.6.0_24\bin;C:\app\bschamac\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\bin;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\
    JAVA_HOME=C:\Java\jdk1.6.0_24
    I then restarted WLS, but the C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\common\bin\commEnv.sh still says:
    JAVA_HOME="C:/Oracle/Middleware/jrockit_160_24_D1.1.2-4"
    SO I think I am still hosed.

  • Tips for Installing Tiger over OSX 10.3.9

    I've been using OSX 10.3 since I bought my G4 a couple of years back. I recently purchased the Tiger upgrade CD and I'm ready to update my OS except this is the first time I've done a full upgrade since switching to OSX. Does anyone have any good tips or suggestions before I make the upgrade?
    1) Will upgrading to Tiger cause any problems with my existing iLife applications (iPhoto, etc) that came with my computer? Will they still run in Tiger of will I need to repurchase them?
    2) What is the recommended install? Is doing an archive and install safe?
    3) Any other potential pitfalls I should look out for?
    Thanks.
    Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hi Todd,
    in addition to Kappy's link to 10.4 Tiger Upgrade: Decision tree+Checklist, make sure you buy the retail full install DVD. In order to upgrade from 10.2.x to 10.4.x I suggest you use the Archive&Install option.
    Once you sucessfully upgraded, Repair permissions and then download and apply the Mac OS X Update 10.4.7 Combo PPC.
    Good luck!

  • Any warnings or tips for installing the FSCM 9.2.001 Upgrade Image on VMware rather than on Oracle VirtualBox?

    Our Network services group is pushing back the use Oracle VirtualBox since we have VMware as our standard.   We have decided to not fight it, and install our upgrade and Update images on VMware.  Did anyone experience any issues on VMware?  And, if so, was there an easy enough workaround?  Or, was it seemless?  Thank you!!

    I don't understand which instructions I have to make for oracle upgrade?
    -- You have to follow all the instructions mentioned
    (Just check for few if's for Cluster enabled, OID and OLAP databases. Perform these steps only if they apply)
    Must I also make the 3. instruction? Connect to databse prior and drop?
    -- Yes you should do
    Must I also make the post install action for my database?

  • Troubleshooting tips for installing Telstra Online Security

    Following are some common scenarios you may encounter while installing Telstra Online Security.
    Possible active x issues
    When Clicking on the ActiveX download bar, I see the option "Run add-on" instead of "Install ActiveX"? This occurs if you have previously installed or attempted to install BigPond Security on this computer. Because the Active X component is already installed you can choose the option "Run Add-on" to progress with the installation.
    When I click to download the ActiveX component, I am taken back to the beginning of the installation Wizard.
    This occurs when your browser has installed the ActiveX component, but cannot run the newly installed Active X component and needs to refresh itself. Continue with the Installation Web Wizard if you have been directed back to the first page.
    Other known issues
    Whilst installing Telstra Online Security you may experience issues which can cause the Windows Based Installation Wizard (WBIW) to fail.
    Fail to load ActiveX download bar
    WBIW freezes during System Check Stage
    Fails to download Telstra Online Security components
    General Internet Explorer error messages during WBIW
    Perform Windows Update and remove conflicting software
    Prior to trying any of the solutions please ensure you have:
    Completed the Windows Update process, and
    Removed any conflicting 3rd Party applications.
    Resolving Issues
    You should only perform the following for issues which cannot be resolved by updating Windows and removing conflicting software:
    Step 1
    Please download the file FixIE.bat file (Registers Internet Explorer and MSXML files needed by the Web Installer)
    Step 2
    Close all opened Internet Explorer windows
    Step 3
    Double click the FixIE.bat file
    Step 4
    Re-launch Internet Explorer application, and follow previously used link to launch the Telstra Online Security WBIW and follow required steps.

    It doesn't address what I needed help with
    When accessing Big Pond Security through Telstra My Account, the computers I had downloaded Big Pond Security to used to be identified by name. Now only told I have downloaded to 4 computers, with 4 icons, but nothing to identify which icon belongs to which computer.Decided to rename the computer I am currently logged into, and reinstall. Do that but then do not have product key.

  • User Tip: BootCamp - Install Windows XP & then Windows 7

    Here is my tip for installing Windows XP in Mountain Lion/BootCamp, and in subsequently upgrading to Windows 7...
    I've tried all the Virtualisation programs: CrossOver, VirtualBox, Fusion, and Parallels - and none can be called 'brisk' in their operation, so I've gone the Bootcamp route.
    If you have an original Windows 7 install disk this is no problem in Mountain Lion. Unfortunately for me, I have Windows XP 32bit OEM disc and a Windows 7 64bit upgrade disc. Mountain Lion doesn't play with XP, so this how to workaround the problem (but you'll need a Snow Leopard disc)....
    1) On your Mac, Insert Windows 7 upgrade disc,
    2) Run Boot Camp and make your Windows Partition the size you want and complete the wizard. Start the Windows 7 installer,
    3) Be prepared to burn a disc with the Bootcamp drivers for later use, for when you install your Windows 7 upgrade disc over Windows XP,
    4) Restart your Mac - and after the chime, hold down the 'alt' key until you see the screen showing Mac HD and the Windows Disc,
    Use the arrow key to highlight the Windows CD, then press the eject key.
    5) Insert your Windows XP CD,
    6) Install Windows XP,
    7) When prompted, insert your product key,
    8) Install Bootcamp Drivers from your SnowLeopard disc from inside Windows.
    Run Apple Software Updates in Windows as many times before no more updates are available in order to get the latest BootCamp drivers.
    If you're content with using Windows XP, the job is completed - save for installing your choice of software - but if you want to upgrade from 32bit XP to 64bit Windows 7....
    If you insert your Windows 7 64bit upgrade disc into your Windows XP 32bit desktop an incompatible warning is given. So here's how to install your Windows 7 64 bit upgrade...
    1) With Windows XP open, insert your Windows 7 disc - and ignore the incompatibility warning,
    2) From the 'start' menu, restart Windows,
    3) When your Mac restarts, hold down the 'alt' key until you see the screen showing Mac HD and the Windows Disc,
    4) Use the arrow to select the Windows disc,
    5) Choose the install option, and agree to the MS terms and conditions,
    6) Your two options are to 'upgrade' or perform a 'custom install',
    7) Choose custom install (this will perform a fresh install of Windows 7 over your Windows XP installation). This will wipe all your previous software applications,
    8) When prompted, insert your product key,
    9) Go watch some paint dry - this will take some time to complete,
    10) When completed, insert the disc previously burned with BootCamp drivers,
    11) The overly bright monitor settings can be altered via the nVidea control panel in Windows,
    12) Install your chosen Windows programs, and you're done.
    Good Luck.

    In my original post on this subject, my Mac Mini is running Mountain Lion. Fortunately for me I also have an old Snow Leopard disc that contained the requisite drivers to install Windows XP. Without this Snow Leopard disc you will not be able to install Windows XP.
    If this is your only method for installing Windows XP - and you are desperate to install Windows XP - a certain well-known auction site currently has Snow Leopard discs for a modest price.
    If, however, you only need to install Windows 7 you do not need a Snow Leopard disc. Installation of Windows 7 should be straightforward and without issue in Mountain Lion.
    As for running virtualisation programs...
    On their own I do not believe that the current crop of virtualisation programs offer a 'brisk' experience in running any flavour of Windows on their own without 'assistance'. However, by first installing Windows in a BootCamp partition there is an advantage in then installing, say, Parallels. You then effectively link Parallels to your BootCamp partition.
    Once Parallels starts for the first time it mirrors all your settings from your BootCamp partition, including all installed Windows programs. The only problem is that Windows will then think that you have Windows installed on two separate computers  (including MS Office). To overcome this you will need to call the MS freephone line to obtain the required Windows OS and MS Office code for manual entry to make the installation work as expected.
    Even so, despite these installation quirks, the benefit is that you get the best of both worlds - a virtualised Windows front-end linked to a fast BootCamp back-end without having to switch between OSX and Windows.
    The caveat is that you need a more 'modern' Mac with plenty of memory to make this combination fly as well compared to using the BootCamp installation alone.

  • Tips to install 8.20 version

    Are there any tips for installing 8.20? I need to update to check out the script updater. Do I need to uninstall the old version or reinstall?
    Are there any issues I should be aware of?
    Is there a release document that shows the fixes or enhancements this version contains?
    Thank you

    tlandis,
    I guess you have allready upgraded, but here are some additional info regarding your post... :-D
    When you de-install your current version, it will just unregister the dlls and stuff that the installer have registered on your PC. all files will remain on your system...and as mentioned in the first reply to your question, you can simply re-install on top of your old installation. I do however recommend that you backup your scripts/workspaces just to be on the safe side. ;-)
    Here is a overview of some of the enhancements:
    eTester
    Script Updater ? e-Tester now includes a batch Script Updater utility that enables users to update multiple scripts at once. Common updates such as base url, script settings, test settings, object paths and more can be specified and applied to any number of scripts at once through this new utility which is accessible from the main e-TEST suite folder.
    Results Report Enhancements ? The e-Tester Results Report has been enhanced to include more detailed content and an improved layout. This HTML report is also now generated from a customizable XSL file which can be modified by users if needed.
    Web Services Enhancements ? e-Tester 8.20 includes multiple enhancements to the Web Services testing module such as:
    Ability to define which WSDL parser to use for WSDL-based script generation or to specify the location of a custom parser.
    Ability to generate Web Services requests with attachments that utilize DIME, MTOM and SwA standards
    Ability to generate secure Web Services requests based on username token security
    General bug fixes, program improvements and maintenance updates.
    eLoad
    Reporting Enhancements ? e-Load 8.2 includes multiple enhancements for both real-time and post-run reports including:
    Default Graphs definitions are now available for post-run reporting against stored e-Load Sessions. This enables users to select from a pre-defined set of default graphs rather than having to select individual data series to create a graph. New default graph options are also now available in both real-time and post-run reporting interfaces.
    Users can now enable a secondary y-axis for viewing multiple data series that are of varying scales. Users can specify whether to plot each data series against the primary or secondary y-axis.
    A threshold line can now be added to an e-Load graph to allow users to graph their data series relative to a predefined threshold value
    The Saved Queries feature has been enhanced to allow users to map counters from a saved graph query against differently named counters from the e-Load Session the query is being applied against.
    Graph legends can now be edited through the e-Load graph options
    e-Load 8.20 includes a new report generator for creating load test reports from pre-defined templates. Templates can be created in RTF format and include both user defined content as well as tags that extract graphs or test data from e-Load Session results. These templates can then be uploaded to e-Load and used for generating reports against any Session file from the Create Reports?Reports tab.
    ServerStats System Editor ? e-Load 8.20 includes a new system editor function for more granularly defining monitored systems. Users can now automatically discover or manually define the specific components of a monitored system (including CPUs, disks, databases, etc.) so that ServerStats Profiles and Metrics can be applied against these specific components rather than just to the system as a whole.
    Unix Agent Support ? e-Load 8.20 now supports Virtual User Agent Systems running on Unix/Linux operating systems through the e-Load Java Agent.
    General bug fixes, program improvements and maintenance updates.
    eME
    New Web Reporting Interface ? e-Manager Enterprise 8.20 includes a new Web Reports interface that provides new and improved capability for viewing, editing and creating e-ME Reports via e-ME?s Web UI. This major enhancement allows users to:
    Access all of e-ME?s default reports from e-ME?s new Reports tab in the Web user interface.
    Clone and edit e-ME?s default reports, including editing report content and filters
    Create new custom reports, including both text and graphical reports, from within e-ME Web UI
    Filter reports using saved filter definitions
    Export reports and data tables in multiple standard formats and email reports to other users from e-ME
    Save new reports as "Public" and viewable by all users or in a personal "My Reports" folder
    Create and view multi-report dashboards from e-ME's new Dashboard tab in the Web UI
    Specify permissions for report viewing and editing
    Enhanced Search Capability ? An enhanced search interface in e-ME?s Web UI enables users to:
    Perform multi-field conditional searches (using AND, OR and nested AND/OR queries)
    Save search query filters by name and recall them for future searches
    Reuse saved search filters for reports filtering or for filtering the e-ME tree view
    Display and edit search results in the e-ME tree view even if they are filtered out of the user?s current view
    Improved Usability ? e-ME 8.20 also includes multiple usability enhancements such as:
    Ability to save multiple tree view display groupings for Requirements, Tests and Issues and access saved groups from a dropdown in the main Web UI
    Ability to save multiple tree view or grid view filters for Requirements, Tests and Issues and access saved filters from a dropdown in the main Web UI.
    "Goto" feature for quick access to any Requirement, Test or Issue by number from the Web UI toolbar
    General bug fixes, program improvements and maintenance updates.

  • Problems installing Photoshop CS4, keeps getting stuck on "installing Adobe Air." Tips?

    I'm trying to install Photoshop CS4, but it keeps getting stuck on "installing Adobe Air" every time. Freezes, makes no more progress, eventually I have to force quit. I've even downloaded and installed it (Air) separately, but it keeps getting stuck on it in the CS4 install. Any tips? I'm running 10.8.5 on a MacBook Air. Saw something about deleting Adobe FlashPlayer to maybe fix it? Any and all tips welcome. Thx.

    Googling only comes up with a couple things where someone was trying to
    install a cracked version they downloaded, so it could be a corruption
    problem.
    If this is a downloaded installer, then redownload it and try installing,
    again.
    If you are inserting a DVD and autoplay is starting up and you get this
    message, you can shut down the installer process as you've done then instead
    of double-clicking the DVD, use right-click Explore to view the files
    directly on the DVD without running AutoPlay, then find the setup.exe or
    something.MSI with EN in it's name to run the installer, directly, without
    goint through autoplay.  This would only make a difference if the autoplay
    is corrupted somehow but everything else is ok.  Since your error message
    talks about autoplay then maybe that is the case.
    If you are calling Adobe for support, it can take hours, depending on when
    you call.
    This "open letter to Adobe customers" was posted within the last few days
    and basically apologizes for poor support, recently, while they change from
    support-provider to another:

  • I have Creative Suite 3 Master Collection. Am trying to install Photoshop CS4 upgrade. It will not accept any of the serial numbers from my Creative Suite 3 Master Collection. The upgrade is for Photoshop CS 4 only

      Need help installing Photoshop CS4 upgrade. I have Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection installed on my computer. When trying to install Photoshop CS 4 upgrade. I am ask for serial number of Photoshop CW, CS2, & CS3 I put in the serial number from my Creative Suite 3 Master Collection. None of which are accepted. What do I need to do to accomplish upgrade?

    When you purchase a Creative Suite collection, you can't run an upgrade on an individual product within the Suite. You have to upgrade the entire collection.
    You could purchase a copy of Photoshop CS6, or a subscription to Photoshop which can be as little as $9.99 with the Photography plan to the Creative Suite.
    Adobe no longer sells upgrades to CS3 or CS4.

  • Installing Photoshop CS4 from original Disk onto my new Macbook Pro.  Serial number accepted but now asks for the serial number of a previous version e.g. CS3 which I no longer keep.  How do I resolve ?

    Installing Photoshop CS4 from original Disk onto my new Macbook Pro.  Serial number accepted but now asks for the serial number of a previous version e.g. CS3 which I no longer keep.  How do I resolve ?

    Tina Hadley did you migrate/transfer your applications over to your new Macintosh?  If so this could cause problems with your serial number being recognized.  Please run the available uninstallers located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder.  Once this is done you will also want to run the CC Cleaner Tool.  Details on the use of the CC Cleaner Tool can be found at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.

    Hi, I have downloaded the two files to install Flash CS4 for Windows from here: http://helpx.adobe.com/uk/creative-suite/kb/cs4-product-downloads.html
    Unfortunately, there is no explanation whatsoever provided regarding how to use the two files, and how to install my product.

    Try uninstalling then run the Adobe Cleaner Tool
    Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
    Then double click the .exe file again.
    What do I do with the .7z file?
    Nothing. That's is an archive of files used by the .exe file during the installation process.

  • Installing Transparency Flattener Preset for Indesign Server CS4

    I'm trying to figure out how to install a transparency flattener preset for InDesign Server CS4.
    I can see how they are installed for the InDesign app.  Edit -> Transparency Flattener Presets...
    But I'm not sure which directory to install these on for the server.
    I've seen a post that mentions:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Application Data\Adobe\InDesign\Version 6.0\en_US\Transparency Flattener Presets
    /Users/<UserName>/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 6.0/en_US/Transparency Flattener Presets
    for the Desktop version.  But when I place files here even for the CS4 Desktop, they don't seem to show up in the UI.
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Dennis

    Thanks, to get this working in a server script, I ended up just programmatically creating the flattener preset, rather than worrying about the .flst files.  (Java code below)
      //Setup Transparency Flattener (if not in application)
      FlattenerPreset flattenerPreset = app.getNamedChildFlattenerPreset("Test");
      if (flattenerPreset == null) {
          flattenerPreset = app.addFlattenerPreset();
          flattenerPreset.setName("Test");
          flattenerPreset.setRasterVectorBalance(VariableTypeUtils.createLong(100));
          flattenerPreset.setLineArtAndTextResolution(2400.0);
          flattenerPreset.setGradientAndMeshResolution(400.0);
          flattenerPreset.setConvertAllTextToOutlines(false);
          flattenerPreset.setConvertAllStrokesToOutlines(false);
          flattenerPreset.setClipComplexRegions(false);
      pdfPreset.setAppliedFlattenerPreset(flattenerPreset);

    Since backing up my iPad air and installing IOS 8.1.2 the screen only shows the portrait view and won't change to landscape view when I turn the device. Any tips for getting back both views?

    If you see a lock icon in the upper right corner of the screen - then the screen orientation is locked.
    Try the side switch above the volume rocker first and see if that unlocks the screen. If that didn't work, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to the control center and the lock icon is in the row of icons at the top all the way to the right.
    If the screen is unlocked but still will not rotate, reset the iPad.
    Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the button

  • Error Installing Dreamweaver CS4 on Windows 7: Installer Database is Corrupt

    Error Message: The Installer Database is Corrupt. Please contact Adobe Customer Service.
    I bought a new laptop and would like to install Dreamweaver CS4 on it. It is already running fine on my desktop, being installed back in 1/2011. Both PCs are Windows 7 but the new laptop is Windows 7 Professional.  I have downloaded the two install files ADBEDRWVCS4_LS1.7z and ADBEDRWVCS4_LS1.exe multiple ways and to multiple locatons on the laptop. I've run the .exe file multiple ways and extracted to several locations besides the default (c:\users\userid\Desktop\Adobe CS4). After the extract completes and it tries to run setup I get the same message "The Installer Database is corrupt. Please Contact Adobe Customer Service" (which I did and they just gave me another download link I had already tried).
    I even copied the folder with the extracted files done on my desktop (where the install had succeeded). And still got the same message when I ran setup.exe on the laptop. I tried running it with a "run as administrator" command prompt, double-clicking in Windows Explorer, start > run and the same thing happens. At least it doesn't appear that it has actually installed anything yet.
    I did notice that my new PC has a program called "7-zip 9.20" installed which I do not remember installing and its install date is prior to my purchase of the PC so I'm guessing it came with it (HP Pavilion 15t running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit). The Windows 7 Desktop does not have this program installed. It is available from C|net where it has a good rating. Perhaps setup.exe does further extracting and the 7-zip program is the culprit? This is a long shot.
    I searched for others with this problem and found lots of issues installing Dw CS4, but none quite like this.

    Awesome! That worked! Actually I searched three folders (Program Files, Program Files (x86) & Program Data) for caps.db and found:
    c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premier Elements\caps.db (dated 9/2/2011)
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Backup\caps.db
    I ignored the first one since it might be needed by the Premier Elements 10 I installed yesterday and changed the name of the other one from caps.db to barb.fix.
    I changed the install folder from c:\Program Files\Adobe to c:\Program Files (x86) just in case CS4 is a 32-bit application which I had done before when installing on my Windows7 Desktop. Now that the install has completed I see that I have caps.db files dated 5/5/2014 in
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\caps\caps.db
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\backup\caps.db (barb.fix is still there but is only 26kb vs 3291 kb for the new caps.db)
    Thank-you so much! Now wish me luck when I try to open it for the first time!

  • Cannot install Photoshop CS4 on Windows Vista Business

    Ok people, looking for some help with this.  I have a new PC (less than 2 months old).  I cannot get Photoshop CS4 installed at all.  I'm sure there have been a million threads like this before asking the same question.  Although I am a newb to Photoshop I am certainly not when it comes to computers, this is what I do for a living.  I can't even believe I am actually having to ask for help.... :\
    Anyway, help appreciated.  I have Windows Vista Business SP1 (32-bit), and its running on a Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2.5GHz with 4 gig of RAM.  I have plenty of free space on my hard drives.
    When the install completes, I get the same error message, installed with errors.  When I click to see the error info it says something about language packs (I can get the exact error if you want, just installed and uninstalled about 10 times but hey).
    Things I have tried a few times have been to follow through all the other threads and the Adobe support pages - Uninstalling the product through Programs first, running Windows Install Cleanup, running the Adobe CS4 Clean Script - when I do these things in this order both of the cleanup utilities don't find any installs of Photoshop CS4, so it doesn't appear they are doing anything.  I have disabled everything on the PC, done a selective startup, turned off UAC, firewall, anti-virus - everything suggested.  Still, the same error persists.
    I have even run my Registry Mechanic and cleaned up that, and of course checked registry permissions etc.  Please help!

    You may want to install Vista SP2. It contains a lot of fixes and has the newer 4.5 installer.
    Also if Vista is set for English then CS4 has to be set as US English upon install (I think someone already pointed that out).
    Before install go services and set the windows installer to auto and start it. Also good idea to turn off windows defender.
    Go to MSconfig and turnoff as many start up items that you don't need running (you will have to reboot).
    Ensure nothing Adobe related is running in the back ground before install. (someone already mention this I think)
    Anti-virus: I turned mine off during install.
    I did not install AIR nor Device Central on my system as I would never use them.

    Ok, so I've tried all the things suggested above but still get the same errors....
    Adobe AIR

    Error 2.
    Adobe Photoshop CS4 English Language Pack
    Error:
    Error 2.
    LangPack (English) for DeviceCentral

    Error 2.
    Anyone else have any idea what might be causing my problem?  The other thing I was going to try was contacting Adobe support, but can I do this for the trial version?  When I tried to log a case it kept asking me to select my product, but I don't have one yet....
    Thanks.
