Title 3D Problem

Hello. I'm am trying to get crisp, sharp text. I was using the regular text tool, but that gives bitmapped, jagged edges when I burn to a DVD. All I want is 36 point text in the left, lower 3rd. Nothing fancy. Here's what I did in Title 3D that didn't work:
1) In the Browser, clicked on Effects - Video Generators - Boris - Title 3D
2) In the Viewer - Controls tab - Title 3D Click for options
3) Typed in my text - selected the font and size - clicked on "Apply"
4) In the Browser, clicked on the Title 3D icon, dragged it to the Canvas, then selected "Superimpose."
The result is a black clip in V2. No text shows up. Please help. Thanks.

4) Wrong. Not in the Browser, you're going back to an empty Title 3D.
After you make the title switch back to the Video tab in the viewer. You should see your text. Drag from the Viewer to the Canvas edit overlay. 36 point with the wrong font can be pretty marginal. Make sure you position the text with the Controls tab of the clip, not with the Motion tab.

    1H 52Min finished SD video
    All video content SD DV, same settings, same camera, same master tapes
    All stills 480 max or 720 max with a black video layer below
    All titles made in PP1.5
    Many music tracks along  with native audio from the clips
    Everything went great, all transitions, stills and titles look good in the timeline. All looks good in the single file avi export from PP1.5 as played with windows media.
    As soon as I import the avi into Encore 1.5 to author the DVD, a few transitions between stills and/or titles get scrambled. It happens on about 3 random transitions out of maybe 50 - 100 of them. Sometimes a transition effect (fade) is involved, sometimes there is no effect. An example is 2 stills or titles adjacent to each other with the same duration. After the import to Encore the durations get hosed and the second still or title flashes for less than a second.
    Any ideas? Other than this problem this long and involved video is flawless.

  • Encore CS4 Menu Loop & Title Button Problems

    Unable to find this issue in an existing thread.
    Root/first-play menu is motion and set to infinite loop. Sometimes it will loop and sometimes it will just jump to some other timeline after the first pass. There seems to be some kind of interaction with the title button. The title button is linked to the root menu. If the motion menu fails to loop, it will instead,  jump to the place in a timeline where the title button was last pushed after the first pass. If the title button has never been used, then it just starts at the beginning of another timeline (consistent for each DVD build, but can vary will different builds)
    I have gone over and over all the menu and link settings and cannot find anything missing or wrong. The problem is independent of media, record speed, or player. If I play in my PC, it will not loop, but just jump off to another timeline after the first pass. Everything works as expected in Encore simulation (preview). The DVD has 2 sub-menus and 4 timelines.
    The title button is also acting strange. If you press title a second time before entering a timeline, it will go back to where you were in the timeline when you pressed it the first time. Press it again and it will go the expected root menu & button.

    Sorry you didn't get a response to this question before now.  It is an odd problem, and I don't see that you are doing something wrong that leads to an answer.
    I would double check to be certain that no overrides are set anywhere (accidentally or otherwise).
    The last time I recall a problem where things were just odd, there was a simple error that none of us thought of.
    I would troubleshoot by doing a save as, and then removing elements one at a time, or creating a new project, and adding elements one at a time.

  • Title Button Problems

    (Revised Question)
    In my DVD, when the title button is pressed while in a submenu, it is supposed to send the viewer back to the main menu. It does this in most cases, but in some dvd players (it seems like more advanced players) instead of jumping back to the main menu, it jumps back to the last track played. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

    That'll be a 'feature' of those players, brett.
    The title button should return you to the title menu - the first menu on the disc. The menu button should move you between menus and tracks only - if you are in one, you should go to the other. The return button is the GoUp button - it is what should take you through the hierarchy on the disc... but there are issues with that.
    All you can do is author your disc with this in mind - individual player manufacturers who have chosen to implement their own logic are a problem we can't do too much about.

  • JTable (View column Title & Scrollable) Problem ... Help

    Hi,
    I have created a JTable on a JPanel, which is positioned on a main frame in CardLayout. The problem I have is that I can't view the title for each column and it won't be scrollable...
    here is short forma of what I did
    setSize(750, 850); (main frame size)
    m_data = new AppLetterTableData(); (contains the table data)
    jTable1 = new JTable();
    jTable1.setAutoCreateColumnsFromModel(false);
    jTable1.setModel(m_data);
    for (int k = 0; k <AppLetterTableData.m_columns.length; k++) {
    DefaultTableCellRenderer renderer = new
    DefaultTableCellRenderer();
    renderer.setHorizontalAlignment(
    AppLetterTableData.m_columns[k].m_alignment);
    TableColumn column = new TableColumn(k,
    AppLetterTableData.m_columns[k].m_width, renderer, null);
    jTable1.addColumn(column);
    } (when I debug this line of code I see the columns contain title)
    JTableHeader header = jTable1.getTableHeader();
    header.setUpdateTableInRealTime(false);
    JScrollPane ps = new JScrollPane();
    ps.getViewport().add(jTable1);
    getContentPane().add(ps, BorderLayout.CENTER);
    *** I can view the data but not the header... and no matter how much data I have it still won't be scrollable..
    I very much appreciate your feedbacks

    Thanx to both of you.... My problem was that I was adding JTable1 to the JPanel not the scrollPane...
    so I had
    JScrollPane scrollPane = new JScrollPane(table);
    panel1.add(table, BorderLayout.CENTER);
    instead of
    JScrollPane scrollPane = new JScrollPane(table);
    panel1.add(scrollPane, BorderLayout.CENTER);
    well my problem solved and I'm happy now... Once again thanx for your responds.

  • Titles rendering problems in HD res.

    Hello.
    I have the most annoying problems with some titles rendering incorrectly when i export movies in HD quality (720).
    The problems occur when i use titles such as "Drifting" and "Sideways Drift". In preview everything looks fine the title appears normaly above the video clip. But when I render it in High quality the text movements gets all screwed up and the whole picture jumps a bit.
    This happens only during title motions in some titles. If I, however, render the same clip but in "medium quality"everything looks fine. The same goes problems occur when i export via QuickTime.
    Anny ideas as to what might cause this strange problem?

    Good catch, but this trick didn't work for me.
    I've made a tiny test file with just a video clip of a few seconds following a green background with the "Sideways Drift" title applied over the background. I can delete ALL transitions from this project and I still get blotchy, jumping text over the green background. In all my tests I export via Quicktime to an AIC file at HDV1080i.
    I've also tried switching out the video clip and deleting-and-replacing the background and titles. None of that worked. I have to conclude that the "Sideways Drfit" title simply doesn't work for HD projects.
    I'm going to try a few different export settings. Can you recall exactly what worked for you?
    [Update] The problem goes away when I export to AIC at the HDV 720p setting. The HDV 1080P setting gave the problem, as did exporting to "Apple HD 1080i60".

  • Boris Title roll problem!!!!

    Ja have the 1080i 50 8 bit sequence. I try to put the boris title roll on the timeline. Rolling title looks like the interlace problem. I've tried the video filters such as de interlace, shift fields, flicker filter.I;ve changed the sequence setting many times trying set the field dominace but ...No effect.... Strange for me that rolling title looks better on the video client monitor, but only using composite analog output. On the HD SDI output problem still exist. I have that problem foe a long time... It's frustrating .... Please help...

    I.ve checked that exactly the same problem I have using motion to create title roll sequence. Putted on the timeline seemes to field dominance problem....

  • Portlet title chracters problem

    I have problem with characters in portlet title. When I create portlet and set

    This idea I had too, but just in this case there are some characters, whose are
    transformed into '?'. Without page directive in jsp, characters are even transformed
    by stranger way - one national character is represented by sequence of other chars.
    So any usefull ideas are welcome.

  • Title insertion problem

    preview looks ok but when I drag the title to the clip, it just goes back to the text field. the "update" button is staying grey (can't click). ??

    Hi thigpen - it sounds as though you are not doing it correctly. You do not drag the actual text. Instead you drag the small blue square from beside the title-option you have chosen. Drag it down to a join between two clips, just in front of the one you want the title to superimpose on (or if creating it 'over black', then drag it to where you wish the title inserted on the track).

  • Title text problem - Sorry this is a duplicate post!

    FCPX 10.1.1 - Late 2013 MacPro 8 Core/32GB RAM - D700 Graphics cards - OSX 10.9.2 (Latest everthing basically!)
    When I preview titles from the titles browser and when placing them on the timeline, I get the above scrambled text. After render (and sometimes during render) they look fine.
    I have tried basic trouble shooting-Deleting preferences and restarting my machine, But this has made no difference.
    Any ideas anyone?
    thanks in advance.

    So basically if I have a DV out, DV in and an AV output this should be all I need to get up and running?
    dv-out = transfers video from tape into Mac
    dv-in = transfers edited iMovie back to tape (storage...)
    AV/analogue-out = connect camera to TV-set...(all cameras have such)
    AV/analogue-in = useful, e.g. transfer older VHS to camera to Mac...
    search this forum for camera suggestions...
    Sony is a well-known, recommended brand; you do NOT need any fancy "effects" in camera - you'll do this with you Mac better.
    think about: would I use my "clumpsy" camcorder to do stills? or do I prefer to carry a second, not-so-clumpsy second device?
    think about "do I need 16:9"?
    think about "I do Hollywood - I buy a 3ccd camera!!" (<<excellent pic quality, but very expansive...)
    NEVER think about using a DVDcorder or stuff like that, stay miniDV.
    ... and get a tripod... (<< internal joke, apologizes to confuse you, I'm FORCED to write that)
