Title Bar Contents Question

If using a jump to an external Help topic, after the jump the
title bar for the target Help does not display that Help title, but
retains the title from the original Help. Is there a way to make
the title bar content reflect the current Help being displayed?
Any help is most appreciated.
Thanks
Joe

Joe,
The caption is a property of the window and I don't know of
any way to change it on the fly. So the other option would be to
change the window. I can think of two ways to do this but both add
the problem of leaving the previous topic open in its window. You
could use a shortcut control and open the other help file to the
topic in question, rather than opening the topic inside of your
help file or you could define a second window and use it when you
call the external topic.

  • Can I change title bar content in an application window? [SOLVED]

    I know this isn't Arch-specific, but I thought there might be somebody out there who can help me. I use KDE 3.5.7.
    I use Evolution for my work e-mail and Thunderbird for my personal e-mail. I like to keep these spheres entirely separate. The problem is that the title bar for both e-mail clients starts with "Inbox ..." If I have several apps open simultaneously and want to open Evolution or Thunderbird by clicking on the task bar, it takes me a minute to figure out which "Inbox" I need, especially when there are so many apps open that part of the title bar is covered up.
    Is there a way to change the content of an application's title bar?
    Thanks.

    Very promising, but I'm afraid this add-on won't work with current versions of Thunderbird. Is there anyone out there who can (1) update this add-on or (2) help me do so? Thanks.
    I'd prefer to go this route than editing the source, since Thunderbird appears to be entangled with all kinds of Mozilla-ish stuff.

  • How to screencapture CONTENTS of a window, without title bar?

    I've been trying to find a solution to doing a screen capture but NOT the window title bar, just the CONTENTS of the window. For example, in Photoshop, I only want the image IN the window, not the bits with the 3 coloured blobs in the upper left of all windows and the document title
    All the references I've foiund talk about capturing the wndow, but no-one talks about the contents of the window.
    Am I trying to invent a wheel here?
    Any advice gratefully received.

    Are you asking about screenshots in general? You have three choices: the entire Mac's screen, an entire window including the title bar, or a selection created by dragging a selection rectangle.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11229
    To take a screenshot for posting on this site hold ⌘ Shift 4 to create a selection crosshair. Click and hold while you drag the crosshair over the area you wish to capture and then release the mouse button. You will hear a "camera shutter" sound. This will deposit a screenshot on your Desktop.
    If you can't find it on your Desktop look in your Documents or Downloads folder.
    When you post your response, click the "camera" icon above the text field.
    This will display a dialog box which enables you to choose the screenshot file (remember it's on your Desktop) and click the Insert Image button.
    ⌘ Shift 4 and then pressing the space bar captures the frontmost window.
    ⌘ Shift 3 captures the entire screen.
    Drag the screenshot to the Trash after you post your reply.

  • Writing a specific text in the title bar of a content area

    Hallo,
    We have created several Content Areas which will be published as Webpage (NOT as Portlet to a Portal-Page! As example you can visit our Project Homepage http://pan.wsr.ac.at:7778/pls/portal30/url/FOLDER/ACCESSLAB/).
    Unfortunatly in the Title bar of the Browser there is always displayed the Title "Portal Content Area Builder".
    How can we change this Title to a more descriptive one for each specific Content Area respectively each Folder of a specific Content Area?
    Thanks,
    Christian

    The frame title is (typically) set in a native OS frame, which is not controlled by Java.
    Perhaps if you tell Java to let the L&F control the frame decorations it might work, but probably not, as it would probably just try to mimic what the OS does anyway, which is to not support HTML.
    So basically, you can't.

  • Firefox opens and I see a title bar but the main window content is not refreshed or loaded

    I installed Firefox 4.0 and it installed fine. When I run it, the window opens with the title bar and borders but the inside content pane is blank. The only option I have it to close it.
    If I uninstall 4.0 and reinstall the latest 3.x release, it works fine. I've removed all of the 3rd party add ons but am still having this issue.

    I think I found the problem. I have 3 monitors, my primary monitor is connected through an external USB video card (Sabrenet Viewmax) using DisplayLink drivers. When I move the Firefox browser window over to the laptop monitor or to the monitor that is connected through the laptop's VGA port, Firefox works as expected. Is this a driver issue? a Firefox issue? As a side note, one of my Microsoft apps is having the same exact issue, Microsoft Visual Studio Web Developer Express.

    When I rename a form for reuse the name of the original form still appears in the web title bar. How do I get the web title bar to reflect the new form name?

    Outlook Web Access sends illegal Content-Disposition headers and this is no longer allowed in Firefox 8. The server needs to be fixed.

  • WPC: Titles on Content Containers

    Is there a way to display the Title Bar of an iView inserted into a WPC web page?
    We have a KM Navigation iView that we want to put into a WPC web page.  There is no problem inserting the iView into the web page, but there is no title bar.  I can see the iView title bar when I edit the page, but it does not show in the public view.  For certain content in a web page, like a KM Navigation iView, the title bar would help describe that content.

    Andrew -
    I wish I said seen your question before I posted the same question...
    I want to do something very similar; however, my iview is the "Ten Newest" web page. which is a KM Basic Search iview retirveing the ten newest web pages using the "WPC" index.
    Have you found an answer to this "problem"?
    If I cannot find an answer, I am thinking about doing the following...
    I am sure there is a better way, but one way I am thinking of doing this is to create a jsp page with a text element and then use an htmlb html control which would contain my iview. I am not sure it will work, but maybe?

  • How to replace the icon in the title bar and minimized window

    I am not sure if this is a Swing question. But since nobody answered it in the Java Programming forum, let me place it here:
    I would like to set my own icon in the title bar and in the minimized window of my java application, replacing the java coffee cup icon.
    I am using:
    frame.setIconImage(new ImageIcon("image.gif").getImage())
    as was suggested previously in the Java Programming forum at:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=31&threadID=5212059
    This does create the icon in both places. However, it only works when I run the program from JBuilder 2006. It doesn't work if I run the program from the .jar or the .exe file.
    How can I make it work for my .jar and .exe file?
    Please help! Thanks!

    It doesn't work if I run the program from the .jar...working example for a .jar
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    class Testing
      public void buildGUI()
        JFrame f = new JFrame();
        Image img;

          if (url != null)
            img = javax.imageio.ImageIO.read(url);
            f.setIconImage(img);
        catch(Exception e){}//do nothing - default will display
        f.setSize(200,200);
        f.setLocationRelativeTo(null);
        f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
        f.setVisible(true);

  • AOL TITLE BAR is missing

    I have read some of the other questions and answers but I am not sure if this is a problem with so-called add-ons or not.
    I no longer have a title bar at the top of the page when I open my browser in Safari. There is a brownish colored bar that has the three red yellow green buttons, apple, amazon, news and ebay. I have no arrow to go back a page, no window to type addresses, no google window. I have tried reloading several days now with no luck. I went into preferences and threw away all the cookies in there.
    What are these darned add-ons and where did they come from?
    A few days ago I noticed that when I clicked onto Safari, the top window would open with something that said www.myscreenname, com etc. I immediately figured that someone was trying to get my personal info so I logged onto Safari by typing in www.aol.com. This worked for two days but now as I said I no longer get the functioning window.
    I have aol on my firefox browser and it is working perfectly, but I use Safari more frequently and I must be able to access my files, etc.
    I appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks

    Hi:
    I checked software update and I do have v10.4.11 now. I will change my profile now.
    I followed the instructions for third party add-ons and this is what happened:
    On Library in HD I found only an internet plug-in. None of the other three topics were in the HD folder. I pulled out the internet plug in from the HD folder and put it on the desktop.
    Then I closed Safari and reopened it without the internet plug in. Still not title bar.
    I then went to Go and opened my Home folder. Only the internet plug-in is in that folder also. When I tried to pull it out and place it on the desktop I got a window that said that a newer version of the internet plug-in was already in that location and asked if I wanted to replace it with the older internet plug in from the Home folder. I decided to leave it there until I talked with someone from this discussion board again.
    Right now I have the internet plug in from the HD folder on my desktop and no further action. Thanks for your time.

  • Can't remove new pop-up title bar on background windows

    Firefox accidentally updated somehow while I was away & now I have a popup title bar appearing on background windows (as in my dual monitor) that covers my data until I make that window active.
    I don't know what it's called, so can't term-search it.
    Can't find any references to it.
    It's driving me insane & I'm clueless for once.

    In current Firefox releases (29 and later), that have have the Australis user interface, the orange Firefox menu button has been replaced by the three-bar Firefox Menu button at the far right end of the Navigation Toolbar and this button is always visible, whether you have the menu bar visible or hidden<br>A consequence of this location is that you no longer can hide the Navigation Toolbar
    *There is a star like button next to the search bar on the Navigation Toolbar to bookmark the current web page and a "Show your bookmarks" button next to it to open the Bookmarks in a drop down menu.<br>You can find "Show All Bookmarks" to open the Bookmarks Manager (Library) at the bottom of this drop-down list
    *If you bookmark a page then "Bookmark This Page" in the Bookmarks menu changes to "Edit This Bookmark"
    *You can make the title bar visible via the "Title Bar" button at the bottom left in the Customize palette window
    It is still possible to have the menu bar visible via the right-click context menu of a toolbar to have menus like the File menu with Print (Ctrl+P) and Print Preview and the Bookmarks menu available.

  • Embedding HTML in the Title Bar of a JFrame

    Hi Folks,
    I have a simple question. Do you know I can I employ an HTML-enabled script in the title bar of a JFrame? I would like to make use of the subscript tag in HTML , yet it didn't work out:
    public class MyFrame extends JFrame{
    super("<html>KPC<sub>V.10</sub></html>");
    }I don't know what I am doing wrong, but the title appears with the HTML tags, not in the way I would like it to be formatted. What would you suggest?
    Regards,

    The frame title is (typically) set in a native OS frame, which is not controlled by Java.
    Perhaps if you tell Java to let the L&F control the frame decorations it might work, but probably not, as it would probably just try to mimic what the OS does anyway, which is to not support HTML.

  • Add maximumsize icon to title bar in JDialog

    My question is how to add a maximumsize icon to the title bar of JDialog, i want to create a dialog that when user double-click the JDialog's title bar or click the maximumsize icon in the JDialog's title bar the dialog can be displayed as maximum size. it just likes Frame.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Lupeng,
    I can think of 2 approaches, firstly and probably the most easiest is to use a frame to mimic the behaviour of the dialog.
    Secondly, implement your own L&F for dialogs by wrting your own RootPaneUI that uses your own version of TitlePane. The TitlePane class will take care of the buttons and mouse handling. Have a look at BasicRootPaneUI to get a better understanding of the implementation ;)

  • Unicode String in JFrame's Title Bar / why is java a non-Unicode pgm in XP?

    My big question:
    Why is Java detected as a non-Unicode program by Windows XP?
    I need to do the following before I can write Japanese characters on the JFrame's title bar on Window XP:
    From the Control Panel -> Regional Settings and Languages -> Set the Language for non-Unicode Program to Japanese
    Thanks in advance,
    Noel

    Hi Noel,
    I'm only guessing here, but I suspect this is still the case...
    Under JDK1.3, the title bar produced by a JFrame is provided by the Windows OS, rather than Java itself. You'll find that trying to display foreign characters in a JFrame's title bar on an English Windows system nigh on impossible (you're left with everyone's favourite little rectangles instead). AFAIK, Sun were looking to change this in the future, but I've no idea if they've got there yet.
    Windows XP likely refers to Java as a non-Unicode program because it's looking at the main frame. Because the frame is produced by Windows itself (which last I checked was about as Unicode-compliant as my car is), it holds a different encoding to anything else within Java.
    At least that's my stab in the dark. ;-)

  • Disable Refresh menu option on Page Title Bar

    Hi,
    We have a TLN node that opens an iview in a new window. Therefore nothing is displayed in the portal page. However the Page Title Bar menu still has all the options (Open in New Window, Refresh, Details etc.) and if a user selects Refresh, it throws a portal runtime error (iView not found: .default). How can I disable the menu options for this iview? I have tried setting the Show Refresh etc. parameters to No but it didn't work - I assume because the iview isn't being opened in the portal page.
    Many thanks
    Jane

    hi
    the iview you need to explore is page title bar i view in default framework page available in  portal standard user  directory in portal content.In this context i would like to suggest a solution why don,t you creat a default framework page just copy it in your folder  and open it and disable all checkboxes associated to page title bar and save after that go on to create a deskttop in portal display in system configuration and add your framework page and theme from themes in portal content and then add a rule to the main rule in super administrators  folder which will for role of the user will display onle that desktop.i have illustrated the concept of branding if you want to avoid codeing or command groups which is long approach.hope this helps youplease do not forget to give points
