Title bug in CS5?

Win7 Professional edition, Intel core i7-980X, 24 GB memory, Quadro FX 3800 with latest driver. Premiere from CS5 Production Suite.
I type a bit of text, change the font size and save the new style; let's call it style1. A new style icon appears in the Title Styles window. If I now change the font size of the title and do a save new style (call it style2), another icon appears in the Styles window. However, style1 now has the font size of style2 ! Also, ALL the fonts in the Title Styles window have the font size of style2.
This applies ONLY to the font size; the new style icons I just created are displayed appropriately scaled.
Is this a bug in Premiere CS5?

Thanks for reply, Jim
I guess that's one way to look at a design feature but what if one wants to have a mix of styles and sizes - for example, a title (larger size, font 1) and text (smaller size, font 2) - this isn't too good.
In PPro CS1.5, one can create title styles with different fonts, colors, attributes, sizes etc. and have them all availaible in the Styles window. Seems to me this was a better scheme. Especially for consistence in titles spread over many projects.

  • Titler program causes cs5 premium pro to crash

I was in the middle of a project using cs5 premium pro and using titler with no problems.  There was a momentary power outage (don't know if this had anything to do with the problem) and computer rebooted without issue.  Next day when I went to use the titler program it froze the program and caused a shutdown.  Everything in premium pro works fine except the titler.  I reloaded the program, ran all windows updates, defragged, shut off virus protection and everything I can think of but still titler program causes a program freeze and shutdown.  When I click on an old title or click on new title, the title window comes up and then freezes.  If I click anywhere in the title window the program not responding window comes up and I have to shut down the program.  Any help or advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    I am running windows 7, 64.  I7, 12 GB ram and 1 TB.

Thank you for the reply.  I fiddled with windows for several hours and finally just reloaded it.  It fixed the problem so it was a windows problem not premier pro.  I only use this computer for video so it wasn't much hassle.  Thanks again.  Oh, I do have several drives to keep data on.  It is a necessity.  I really think I will go mac soon.

Check your fonts for corruption. 1TB does not mean a single disk, does it? You need at least two physically separate disks, but better 3.

  • Anyone notice the Smart Guides bug in CS5?

ID CS5 has a Smart Guides bug when resizing frames to match the size of other frames.  When releasing the mouse after the Smart Guides pop up showing the sizes are equal the frame size changes.  When analyzing this it appears the frame does not resize to where the SmartGuides popped up but where the cursor is located.  There is also jumpiness between the position of cursor and where the Smart Guides pop up.  This behavior occurs vertically and horizontally.  While some jumpiness still exist, it works reliably when frames are aligned.  In other words, if a frame is resized to a point where two sides are aligned then the size of the frame does not change when the mouse is released.
I have verified the bug in both Windows and Mac versions of IDCS5.
None of the behavior exist with Smart Guides in ID CS4.
Is anyone else experiencing this behavior?

    Thanks for checking Peter.
I am using a laptop, Mac OSX 10.5.8, with ATI Radeon X1600.  The issue still existed wtih my Wacom tablet mouse and a Logitech mouse.  I also just uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and the issue still existed.
This issue also exists on an iMac with Windows 7 running ID CS5 for Windows.
Are you using a Mac by any chance?  The issue does not exist so much when the frames are aligned.  So, if you are trying it out and Smart Guides creates a line connecting the two frames you need to move them out of alignment.  Also, if your cursor is dead center over the edge of the frame all is ok.  What it's really doing is snapping to where the cursor is and not to where the Smart Guides popped up.  I'll be really surprised if you're not seeing it with a Mac.

  • Strange Display Bug - Photoshop CS5 64bit

I have an issue where a portion of my screen extending from the top left corner displays images in Photoshop just a little differently than the rest of the screen. You can see how it looks in these screenshots (I was a little surprised the screenshots captured the bug). These are screens of a photoshop document filled with one color, not the two shades it appears to be.

This bug doesn't appear except in Photoshop. As you can tell it's always the same part of the screen. Except somehow Photoshop briefly 'remembers' where the image bug is when I drag it around with the hand too. Eventually it goes back to the original spot or it will reset to there when I zoom or do something to the image. You can see in the screens how that works.
I have tried clearing out the settings files.
    Reinstalling Photoshop.
    Updated display drivers.
I connected to the monitor to another computer and ran Photoshop from that one (no bug).
I attached another monitor to this computer - no bug with that monitor. Strangely, it seemed to take a few minutes to reappear after I reattached my other monitor again. I thought it had gone away at first.
I've done some searching around the web and the forums but can't seem to find the right answers. It would be great is someone had some ideas on what's going on. This problem is driving me batty. Thanks much.
My screen is a Dell U2711.

Hm, seems to stop exactly halfway across, left to right, and in a 5:4 ratio.
Looks like a pretty big display...  What's the pixel resolution of your monitor?  Does it use a dual-link DVI connection?
Do you have any desktop management software active that does things like expand the desktop or provide multiple / virtual desktops?  I'm trying to guess at whether something might be causing the system metrics to be reported wrongly.
Just on a hunch, try this:  Choose Edit - Preferences - Performance, click the [Advanced Settings...] button, and change the OpenGL Mode to Basic.
If no change, does the problem go away if you uncheck [ ] Use OpenGL Drawing entirely?

  • Imported logos with alpha channel in titler bug

    Hi!
If I import this logo in Titler the small black text disappears, but if I import it to premiere then All OK.
    Why?
    LD_logo_3d_horizontals.png

OK, while it is a bug in the Title Designer as far as I am concerned, it is the same one from the very first Premiere Pro version.
The Title Designer does not like graphics with partial opacity. Your PNG file is partially transparent.
This is your graphic blown up in Photoshop. It is obvious to me what the problem is when I look at it.
I took your text and filled in all of the partially transparent pixels with solid black, and it worked in the Title Designer just fine. I didn't do it carefully, I just sampled the lighter pixels and filled them in. The text got a bit ragged when I did that.
I don't know what font that is and I don't have time to figure it out right this minute, but I suggest that you delete the text and type in new text. Or, very carefully fill in the light spots in the text you have.

  • Is it a bug? CS5

    Hi!
Having some serious trouble in cs5.
When moving objects, they don't stay where I try to put them, but rather jumps a little to the side.
It happens booth with and without "smart guides"
(It does not occur when trying with box-shaped objects)
    This video explains the issue:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqYC-cz_lJM
Is it a bug or is it me not knowing better?
I have been using illustrator for 10 years, and I don't experience this behaviour in cs4.
    /Davis

    Hi Davis
Select both the objects and check whether the checkbox "Align to Pixel Grid" is selected or not in the Transform panel. If it is selected than deselecting this option might solve the problem. I was able to resolve this at my end.

  • Titles in Premiere cs5.5

Hi, I'm doing subtitles for my movie in Premiere CS5.5 but everytime I create a new title clip, I have to configure the letters all over again and put them in the bottom end, etc. Is there a way to create the next title cilp with the same settings as the last one?
    Thanks!

"Create New Title Based on" is an option you wil find in the Titler.
Create  one...re open it..use the option above and save it with a unique name.
Pain is that you haveto type the new title name out each time instead of it having an increment choice.

  • JSFL - PNG export bug in CS5.5, works in CS4 - 8000px limit

We have a series of JSL scripts that export our ad banners in both SWG and GIF format. The GIFs are compiled by exporting each of the 3 frames of the SWF as PNG images then a .jsx script runs in Photoshop and compiles them into a GIF.
This all worked fine in Flash CS4. Running the script on FLAs in FLash CS5.5 produces this error at the PNG export stage:
The bitmap is too large. The largest bitmap that can be created is 8000x8000 pixels.
The line of code that triggers this error is:
    fl.getDocumentDOM().exportPNG((pngPath+resName+".png"), true, false);
The path variables are fine and produce a valid path (see below). As you know the first boolean states whether to 'use current PNG export settings' (true) or to show the settings dialog on export (false). The second Boolean states whether to export only the current frame (true) or all frames in the SWF (false).
If I change the 'use current PNG export settings' to false and show the export dialog and OK the default values the export runs fine (which is how I know there is no issue with the export path).
Showing the dialog box on each export is not acceptable because we have over 10,000 of these banners to export over the next couple of months.
    I'd like to know:
[1] Is this an actual bug?
[2] Can anyone suggest a workaround?

To reproduce this behaviour create an FLA in CS4, make 3 keyframes, draw a filled rectangle (or whatever) on each frame then save it somewhere (ie C:\test.fla)
Then create a Flash JavaScript file, paste the following code into it and save it in the same location as the FLA. (ie C:\script.jsfl)
    exportPath = fl.scriptURI.substr(0,fl.scriptURI.lastIndexOf("/"))+"/";
    fl.getDocumentDOM().exportPNG(exportPath+"Frame.png", TRUE, FALSE);
The first line of code here just gets the location of the jsfl file and removes the filename to give an export path.
The second line export each frame to the same location as the FLA and JSFL files.
This should run fine in CS4 and you will see the following in your save location:
    test.fla
    script.jsl
    Frame0001.png
    Frame0002.png
    Frame0003.png
If you change the first boolean in the export command to FALSE and run the script again you should see the PNG export settings dialog box and when you OK it you will get the same export result.
Now open the FLA and JSFL files in CS5.5 and run the JSFL. With the boolean set to TRUE you should get an error (the 8000px error), however if you set it to FALSE so that you get the settings dialog when you OK it the export will run fine.
Change it back to TRUE and you will get an error again.

  • Amusing little image size/dpi bug in CS5

Has anyone else discovered PS CS5 applying nearly random dpi settings to newly opened documents?  This is not a destructive bug, as far as I can tell, but when I open "Image Size," PS will sometimes give me a whacko value for dpi (something like 1.2 or 3.4) with appropriately expanded dimensions.  I then reset the dpi to something sane (72, 300, whatever it ought to be), and the image dimensions return to what they ought to be.
No biggee, but I don't like signs of random mischief in my software, and would like to find out if this is a known issue.
I did, incidentally, run "image size" and "dpi" through the PS help forum search engine to see if this has been discussed recently.  Came up with a big "no" both times.  Seems like that's another piece of software that is largely decorative.
    Thanks for any light,
    Richard Hurley
    Grass Valley MultiMedia

Haven't seen that, but there are bugs in, for example, the JPEG writing software in some cameraphones.
I had one phone that insisted all the photos taken with it were at zero dpi. That caused some problems.
I had a different phone which reported that all photos taken with it were at something like six-million dpi. Closer inspection of the file revealed that it was trying to write some fairly normal dpi, but was getting the byte-order wrong.
If your new images are coming from the same device or application, it might be worth checking the documents in Preview.app, and doing a "Show Inspector" (command-I) on the image and see what Preview thinks about it.

  • Trying to get clean title transitions with CS5

Hi -I have lot's of trouble trying to get a consistent, clean transition in CS5. Mulple systems, multple configs but here is an example of the latest.
    HP Z800
    Quadro FX 5800
    12 GB RAM
    2 x 6core XEON (X5680)
    Atto R380 RAID controller
    CalDigit HDOne Storage
    example:
    1. place title with a transparent drop shadow, fade in, the fade won't be smooth.  it will 'pop' at the end of the transition - the fade is smooth until the very end, and then jumps to opaque (or whatever opacity level is set for title/graphic)
Rendering makes little difference, and in the case of the video behind it can sometimes result in additional blooming, jumping in opacity levels and so on.  For example if I have a cross dissolve from black on video clip, it will preview fine, but after rendering we will get color shifts, or opacity jumps instead of a smooth fade in.
Changing from GPU to software will clear the video previews to resolve the rendered area problems, but then we are just back at unsmooth transitions of titles and so on.
Have changed various rendering settings, codecs etc...
    any help?

  • BUG: Dreamweaver CS5 misrecognizes a command received from another program...

I use a free mouse gesture program called StrokeIt. It allows mouse gestures to be made for other programs. It uses mouse gestures and a few mouse click actions to activate custom commands.
But there is a bug in which Dreamweaver CS5 won't receive a command properly from StrokeIt. A StrokeIt command sent to Dreamweaver CS5 with the wheel_down mouse gesture is misrecognized by Dreamweaver CS5 as the same command used by the wheel_up gesture. The developer of StrokeIt has done a lot of testing on this problem and has concluded that this is a recognition bug in Dreamweaver CS5 under 64 bit Windows. Can this be fixed?
    BTW: I'm currently using: Win7 x64 | Dreamweaver CS5 | StrokeIt Home 0.9.7
ALSO: To perform the wheel_down / wheel_up commands in StrokeIt, you hold down the right mouse button and scroll the wheel down/up. This will run whatever commands you have customized to that gesture.

i have already submitted a bug report to adobe through the form.  also, here is the detailed dicussion with the strokeit developer on this problem at the strokeit forums.  the developer's name is jeff and the discussion on this problem began on nov 15 on page 2...
    http://www.tcbmi.com/strokeit/forum/read.php?3,54070,page=2
this problem affects *some* 32 bit programs on 64 bit windows, and dreamweaver cs5 happens on be one of them.

  • Premiere, AE, Media Encoder and title bug?

I think I've run into a possible bug.
I'm editing Canon 7D material with my first clip in the timeline being dynamic linked to AE. On the videotrack above I got a title. Everythings is prerendered ( greenbar above timeline).
Exporting directly in Premiere ( with matched sequence setting ) works like a charm. Fast.
Exporting to Media Encoder works great until it reaches the title above my dynamic linked clip. The render speed drops incredibly.
When I redo this without the title it works in ME. So there seems to be something going on with titles above dynamic linked clips and ME.
    Can anyone confirm this?

So, just to be clear, you're having a problem playing the sequence within Premiere when it reaches the embbeded After Effects file, or encoding the file through Media Encoder simply slows down when it reaches the portion of the timeline where the AE file is embedded? If it's the latter, then it's just a matter of the encoder having to process a more robust file. It's common when there's an embedded AE sequence, and/or when there are a lot of effects applied.

  • Bug? - CS5 Spacebar Activates Bird's eye View - Graphics's Card Recommendation?

    Hi,
Overall I'd say that the OpenGL is improved in CS5 over CS4, although I have this disruptive bug. Sometimes I hit the spacebar to move and the bird's eye view is activated instead. My Nvidia GTX 260 driver is up to date. Photoshop is also updated. If I disable OpenGL my 2-3 gb images crawl, instead of scroll across the screen.
Assuming there is no solution to this problem can anyone recommend a video card that works for them. Based off of Nvidia's advertisement and other misc stuff I've read I'm assuming Nvidia is a good choice - http://www.nvidia.com/object/adobe_photoshop.html
    Thanks for your help!

NVidia's marketing is good, and they have greater market share, but don't discount ATI wholesale.  Their cards work quite well with Photoshop and OpenGL.
However the card you already have is quite fast for pretty much anything Photoshop does (you've already noticed how much it accelerates Photoshop). I'm not sure you'll be able to see an improvement with a newer model.
When working with large images (e.g., gigabyte sized) your CPU throughput and RAM space are going to play a large factor in Photoshop's performance.  Do you have the ability to put more RAM in your system?

  • Is Adobe planning on fixing any of the LION bugs with CS5?

I've been reading a lot about these bugs with Adobe CS5 applications and LION (here's some> http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/905/cpsid_90508.html). A friend had a ton of problems and ended up sending her laptop back because of them (she wasnt able to downgrade to Snow Leopard over Lion with that particular laptop). I just ordered a new imac, and think I'm going to be using my old one for a while if there are all these bugs. I primarily use my mac for Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, and if they are going to be problematic that is going to be a big drawback for me. I talked to an employee at Apple this weekend, and he said Adobe is always behind the ball with getting their software up to speed with new operating systems. Which didnt make me feel anybetter. Lion's been out for a while now, and I assume Adobe received the OS way before it was released to the public in order for them to upgrade their apps to make them compatible. Does anyone know what the status is on when the next big Adobe update is going to happen to address these issues?

As to bug fixes, you'd have to ask Adobe that question. I would presume they'll fix at least some of the issues before the next major release, but what specifically they'll do, only Adobe could tell you. Note, though, that most of the issues Adobe publicly acknowledges are pretty minor and/or are present in earlier versions of the CS suite, not 5.5.
    Regards.

  • Title Templates in CS5

My school district is upgrading to CS5 and we download our suite (WINDOWS and MAC) from the Adobe web site. When I open Premiere Pro and go to the title screen and open the templates the folder is empty. NO TEMPLATES. NONE. I'm pretty sure there should be stuff there. Can any one offer some insight?
