Title Card is Blank at Beginning of Video?

Hello,
With the past few videos I've created lately in Adobe Premiere Elements 7, I start the video with a few words on a title card before it launches into video/voiceovers, etc.
However, after I export the video and upload it to the "channel" we use to stream our videos, when played back, the beginning title card either doesn't show the text at all or shows it for a half-second and then the screen goes black before the video starts properly. The rest of the video and title cards work just fine. It's just the beginning title cards taht don't show up.
Any suggestions on how to fix it? I've tried deleting and recreating the card, recreating the entire video, created the card in Photoshop and inserted it as an image... but nothing seems to fix it.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
As a test, go to the New Icon in the Project Panel, and choose Black Media. This will be created at the Duration, that is set in Edit Preferences, but that does not matter. In the Project Panel, Dbl-click on that new Black Media, to open it in the Source Monitor. There, set the Out Point to the 02 sec. mark. Now, drag that 02 sec. Black Video to the front of the Timeline, and in the Video Track with your Title. Everything else shoudl Ripple, to accommodate that 02 sec.of Black Video. Then, just add a Cross-dissolve to the junction between the Black Video and the Title. Export/Share and test. Does that get you the full Duration of your Title?
Good luck, and please report,
Hunt

  • Title and image at the beginning of video pixelated

Am a bit puzzelled about a sudden pixelation of titles and still images at the beginning of a video. I'm working on a small video and would like to start it with a company logo (PSD file) and some simple text (made in FCP with the 'Text' effect). Before rendering everything looks good, but after rendering, the very first frame of the video (the title) becomes very pixelated. I've done this many times before and never had any issues, so really don't know what's going on.
I read about the bug in FCP 7.02 with using still images at the beginning of a sequence (and then renaming all clips) - does this has something to do with it?
    Thanks.

    Hi there,
All elements in EA always appear over the entire timeline...unless you tell them not to do so. Try using Display keyframes to show and hide elements over time.
You can also use Opacity keyframes in the same way, or even position the image outside of the Stage bounds, if you prefer to do it one of those ways.

  • Problem - Title Cards in Vid Track 2 Skewing In and Out Points in Track 1 ?

    Hi,
Vast confusion. I'm working with edits in a timeline, created from video files that are "Avid Meridien Compressed" Quicktime Files. These are files that I exported from Avid. They are 24P files. The timeline has been set to 23.97, and everything in Video Track 1 makes sense, no problems, no render line because the project compression settings have been set to "Avid Meridien Compressed".
Ok, so here's the problem. I am creating title cards with the video generator in FCP, and trying to super them into my edits by placing them into Video Track 2. But the moment I drop a title card into Video Track 2, (over an edit I have made in Video Track 1), there is a SHIFT in the in and out points of the source video in the timeline. For example, let's say an edit in my timeline has a source in of 02:02:30:17 and an out of 02:02:35:17. The moment I try and drop a title card over this edit in Video Track 2, the source video in Track 1 shifts, so it now begins at 02:02:31:29 and ends at 02:02:36:29.
It is as if the title cards refuse to conform to the 23.97 timeline, and are overriding the source video edit decisions in Video Track 1.
Does anyone have any thoughts on why this is occcuring? Does anyone have any suggestions for a remedy? BTW, I have also tried creating title cards in photoshop and dropping them in, but with the same result: it changes the source time code edits by shifting them later into the source video.
    Thanks,
    Mtbakerstu

    Update!
While I was never able to get the Vid Track 2 title cards to stop shifting the edit decisions in Vid Track 1 when using the preset that is in tandem with the actual source video files (Avid Meridien Quicktimes at 23.98), I did find that by changing the Sequence Setting to DV/DVCPRO50 NTSC at 23.98 that I could drop the titles into Vid Track 2 successfully without any skewing of edit decisons. You now have to render the timeline, but a quick test of an MPEG2 export showed that there's no denigration in image quality with using this setting.
So that's the scoop. It seems that there's no pure solution to this issue. Perhaps if there's a way to generate title cards out of Avid that are importable into FCP, that would do the trick, but I haven't taken my research that far.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Title cards: animation and audio

Hi. I'm using solid-color title cards and have two questions:
    1) Is it possible to create a title card that does a reveal, so that the initial line of text appears first, with the rest faded in after two or three seconds?
    2) I'm working on an interview video and would like the audio for each clip to begin "under" the title card that introduces the clip. Is this doable?
    Thanks in advance,
    Don

  • How do I import a graphic image as title card?

I'm trying to create a title card in Fireworks, export it, and import it into iMovie.
I'm wondering what type of image it should be, how large, and how it can be imported into iMovie.
I"d rather not use the system's title card creator, as I don't like the background color options.
    I'm using iMovie 11.
    thanks

I generally use Keynote to create some of my more elaborate titles (say, for wedding videos). I usually set the slide size to 1280 x 720 and save as a jpeg. You can also create animated titles and export them as a .mov file for use in iMovie. Most of my editing work involves HD clips imported as HD 1920 x 1080, but I find that using 1280 x 720 produces excellent results. All text is crisp and all graphics are immaculate (at least to my eyes).
After exporting from Keynote I import the jpeg files to iPhoto. Then in iMovie I click on the Photo Browser and drag the images into the timeline, dropping them into their appropriate position.
You can also drag images from any location on the hard drive (Desktop, for example). But I prefer to have them in iPhoto as I'm unlikely to move them from that location. If you move media files after importing them to iMovie, it's almost certain that iMovie will lose the link.
I'm not familiar with Fireworks, but thought a brief outline of my experience with Keynote may be helpful.

  • Where can I download Christmas generators / title cards compatible with Final Cut Pro X?

I'm looking for title cards with holiday themes, snow, Christams trees, ornaments and the like. Where can I find these? A quick search online I found site that said they weren't compatible with Final Cut Pro X.
I went to rippletraining.com and after downloading got this error message...and yet I am unable to find any applications in the App store that meet my needs.

    you haven't tried!
you managed to handle FCPX, a highly professional edit-tool.
What I suggested, is just 'basics':
    compose a few elements.
Get inspired by other videos you notice around.
    To animate 'elements', use keyframes.
To apply 'overlays', green-screen/color-key is a basic procedure…
To prep stills, a designated pic-processor is of fundamental need… although, even MacOS built-in Preview.app allows creation of 'knock-outs'/transparency… in case, you're shy to invest a few $$ for Pixelmator.
It looks maybe complicated - it isn't!
Don't try it first time for some serious projcect… but creating your very own Xmas-scenery is a lot of fun… plus, you learn a lot about FCPX and its many hidden gems…
    Final word:
Catch some nice, own pics with your cam! … snowy trees, 4 candles and some cookies, a frozen window, illuminations in the streets, that crazy neighbour with his 50.000Watts of garden decorations .... Just add a charming title - done. Simplicity rules!  …

  • I'm making title cards, need suggestions re: fonts, etc.

    h'lo all,
after getting (very) frustrated with iMHD6 title durations, I realized I could make my own white-on-black title cards in PhotoShop by creating a white typ/black background jpeg, which I could drag in to iMHD6, then set whatever length I chose. It works pretty well, except that fonts that look great in PhotoShop get pretty "soft" when they come in to iMHD6. I've been trying the following:
    320 x 240, 150ppi
    Times New Roman, 10 point
    save as jpeg, max quality.
Any suggestions on changing the font, size, resolution, etc?
    many thanks

    Bill Myers wrote:

.. which is about a quarter of the res, NTSC offers.. so iM 'blows-up' your painting and esp. the serifs of your font get blurry .. addtional increased by the high contrats of plain b/w.
720x480 (dpi is of no use for video, doesn't matter 300 or 5...) as res - if your project is 'Standard' not HiDef or widescreen..
avoid, if you use serif fonts, too small font size.. 30-40 pix is perhaps a benchmark => otherwise the tiny serifs at the 'feed' of a typo gets 'sub pixel' = flimmer in video..

  • Consistent fades on Title cards

I am trying to slow the fades (in & out) of credits so I have lengthened the dissolves. The fade in is the right speed but the fade out seems to be quicker. I adjusted the thresholds for both from 50 to 30. Is that what is causing the problem? What is the best way to slow down the fades of the credits and keep them all consistent? The other problem I am finding is that when I lengthen the dissolves, there's too much time in black between credits. I want to be able to have slower credits without having a long space between them. Thanks.

  • How Can I Make Title Cards Appear with Flicker Behind Them?

    Hello professionals,
I have a question for you, guys:  I am editing a short film now which is a throwback to some old 1930's films.  I keep creating the title cards but the font always looks to modern.  How can I create the title cards in Final Cut Pro so they have that old, 1930's feel flicker to it?  An example of this would be the opening credits in this film:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvXtjWq-k78
I'd like to do something similar.  Thank you so much in advance.
    Matthew

While it won't be exactly the same you can easily create something similar. Go to the GENERATORS BROWSER and select TEXTURES and the PAPER and drag that to the timeline. Then in TITLES drag the BASIC TITLE on top of your paper and select the font you want while changing the colour to black, etc. in the INSPECTOR.
Select the title and paper on your timeline and right-click and select NEW COMPOUND CLIP.
In the EFFECTS select VIGNETTE and drop that on your clip. Then you could add FILM GRAIN, SIDELIGHTS, or perhaps PROJECTOR and in the INSPECTOR adjust the parameters.
Not sure if that's what you're looking for but it's a possibility.

  • How do I copy and paste a title card?

I have a title card which I've set all the text up how I want it, and now want to copy and paste that title card and change the new text. When I copy and paste it, all I can see it the blue background, but not the text. If I roll over the first title card in the editing window, I see the text, but not on the new one I pasted in.
    Shouldn't this be possible?
    Thanks

select by highlighting the piece of text or picture that you would like and either hold cmd and c or right click if you have a mouse or double finger tap if you have a pad and click highlight.
Than go onto the document and click on the page. You can either hold cmd and v or you can right click if you have a mouse or double finger tap if you have a pad and click on paste.

  • Can you create title cards in iphoto?

I am looking for an easy way to create title cards for a 200-image-long slide show. Can you do that in iPhoto? OldToad suggested using the card-creation aspect and saving the pdf in iPhoto but the version I'm using doesn't have that option on the menu (saves to iTunes, though).

Well a great start would be for you to tell us what you do have and what you have tried
Otherwise this will be an endless string of wild guesses
There are many different versions of iPhoto and each is different from the others - plus they run on different operating systems which can affect answers
We are not mind readers - you need to help out by explaining your configuration and situation

  • Can I create a iPhoto card with blank inside?

Would like to create simple 5x7 cards with blank white inside. Any recommendations on how to so do?
    Thanks,
    Phoebe

That text you see is place holding text and doesn't get printed if you don't delete it or replace it with a space.  However, if you don't replace it with a space you'll get a warning when you go to purchase that there are empty text boxes. You'll have to tell iPhoto to go ahead with the empty text boxes.
    It's always been that way.

  • Creating a title card?

ya know the scene at the end of pulp fiction when harvey keitel races to the house in his car, and it says 9 min 37...38...39 seconds later? i dont want the exact design of that title card, but just a plain title card saying something like 9 minutes 37..38...39 seconds later... how do i do that ?
    thank u.

You can use the built in TC GENERATOR, and get it to count down backwards by making the numbers negative. But that takes a LOT of fiddling to get right. This is why people take the time to make something that works, and is easy. And all this work should be rewarded. That is a great plugin, and is only $30. I bought it the instant I found it.
Want free? Gotta take time manually doing it or fiddling with settings. How valuable is your time?

  • Still Images not changing and title cards doing same.

If i was to add 5 images into i movie and hit play when the image is meant to change it doesnt, it changes on the clip after the one is is meant to. Title cards do the same.
Its like some where to clip is being told to run for longer than i can see!

    Welcome to the forum.
Along with John's question regarding the pixel x pixel size, have you thought about doing the work with the stills in PrPro, and then just Exporting as is necessary (or using ADL)? While Encore has a limited SlideShow feature, it is designed to work better with AV files, than stills.
    Good luck,
