Title description and Keywords
What is the optimum length in characters or words for each of the three categories?
Title?
Description?
Keywords?
I heard dont use too many, but what is too many?
Doug
There isn't a set number of characters, but a good rule of thumb is...
Title - a short sentence - remember it is displayed along the top of the browser window, so you'll want it to fit and not be cut off.
Description - a longer sentence - this should be as to the point as possible, remember Google uses the description or part of it in the search results listing.
Keywords - use them if you like but Google doesn't even look at the Keyword meta tag anymore, so don't obsess about this one. Just put in five or ten keywords for some other search engines that may look at this and move on
Hope this helps.

My previous versions of iLife 8 allowed me to do this. I label my images in the field on my laptop, return home burn them to a DVD, and then drag the images to the library on my iMac and voila they appeared with their tags. When I tried it for the first time with iLife 11 I tried everywhich way to import the images from the DVD to my iMac with the tags intact, but failed. I am not familiar with iCloud or streaming. Perhaps that is how it is now done.

SharePoint 2013: Error when clicking on Title, description, and logo
Hi.
I'm in the process of upgrading from SharePoint 2007 to 2013 and have come across an error which I think has occurred since trying to deploy a new feature to implement our "Company Theme" (Custom look). Please note, everything is otherwise behaving
as expected in the new 2013 environment and the issue does not occur for site collections/content db's that are deleted and restored from the interim 2010 upgraded backup, so I am assuming its something I've done as part of deploying, retracting and redeploying
the theme feature (a number of times).
So, on to the problem... When I click on "Title, description, and logo" in Site Settings I get the following error:
"Sorry, something went wrong
A list, survey, discussion board, or document library with the specified title already exists in this web site. Please choose another title."
My research suggests there is something wrong with the masterpage, which I had initially included as part of the feature but have since gone back to using the default "seattle.master" when creating the Composed look (only spcolor and spfont are
different now).
The same error also occurs when trying to preview a composed look.
Anyway, while I can probably get away with re-upgrading the affected site collections and re-enabling the theme feature, I'd like to know if I can fix this (or rather, what caused it) before going to production.
BTW, I'm getting the following errors in the Log file:
"The list "$Resources:core,webpageassetList;" in web "..." was not created"
"Failed to create list "... etc."
(I would copy the entire error messages but its not pasting - I'll try on a reply post)
Thanks,

Description and keywords meta tags
Hello,
Could you tell me if it's possible to create HTML output of an ADF page, that has "description" and "keywords" meta tags in the head? Something like:
<meta name="keywords" content="adf jdeveloper description keywords meta tags">
<meta name="description" content="This is a short description of text on a imaginary page">
I know the SEO results may not be great, but I'd still like to use it, just to make it as good as possible for search engines.
Greetings,
Daan HornDaan,
Sorry for the oversight.
[url http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/partners/addins/exchange/jsf/doc/tagdoc/core/document.html]Tag documentation for af:document says that af:document has a facet called "metaContainer" which emits the meta tags. I didn't see any examples or have time to test, but you can certainly try putting the meta tags in that facet.
Update: all of the examples I can find show how to inject javascript into the metacontainer, but it should give you an idea how to do it for <meta> tags. Script to add description and keywords to files from text file
Can anyone write something up for me? I will admit I cannot do it myself, I do not know Javascript.
I need to add keywords and a description to 1000's of images. I have a text file formatted as such for each 100 images. The script would need to ask for an input file (or I can hardcode the path into the script) and then apply to the current folder of images shown in bridge.
Text file example:
1000 - Bright Sunset Over City. (sun;city;sky;mountain;) .
1001 - Dawn Behind Mountain And Lake. (sun;mountain;water;sky;) .
1002 - Bright Red Sunset, Light Edged Clouds. (sun;sky;tree;clouds;) .
1003 - Tree Framing Sunset Over Bay. (tree;sun;lake;bay;) .
1004 - Sun Behind Gull On Pilings. (seagull;sun;sea;pilings;) .
images are named 1000.tif, 1001.tif, 1002.tif etc
Running on a Mac with CS3 and CS4.
Thanks,
ChrisHi Paul,
This is nice example, but your script incorrectly sets both dc:description and dc:subject as ordered arrays. Description should be an alt-text type property, and subject is an unordered array (or 'bag'). Some software might not tolerate the incorrect XMP data types.
Here's an example showing the wrong and write way to set these two properties using the XMP Script API:
// load the library
if (ExternalObject.AdobeXMPScript == undefined) {
ExternalObject.AdobeXMPScript = new ExternalObject("lib:AdobeXMPScript");
var Desc = "Test Description";
var Keys = ["One","Two","Three"];
// The wrong way to set the Description. and Keywords...
var bogusXmp = new XMPMeta();
bogusXmp.appendArrayItem(XMPConst.NS_DC, "description", Desc, 0,XMPConst.ARRAY_IS_ORDERED);
for(var s in Keys){
bogusXmp.appendArrayItem(XMPConst.NS_DC, "subject", Keys[s], 0,XMPConst.ARRAY_IS_ORDERED);
$.writeln( bogusXmp.dumpObject() );
// The correct way to set the Description and Keywords
var correctXmp = new XMPMeta();
correctXmp.setLocalizedText( XMPConst.NS_DC, "description", null, "x-default", Desc );
for(var s in Keys){
correctXmp.appendArrayItem(XMPConst.NS_DC, "subject", Keys[s], 0,XMPConst.PROP_IS_ARRAY);
$.writeln( correctXmp.dumpObject() );
Thanks,

Room for Description and Keywords input
I am using Bridge CS5 to add bulk and individual photo description and keywords.
Like CS4, room to enter text is too small. If the text reaches the end of the line, the next one remains hidden until I manually click on the left of the text space and drag bottom.
Is there a way to solve this issue?
Thank youDaan,

Hi. firstly...how do you enter keywords and descriptions
using dreamweaver (not in the HTML section...but in the graphical
interface...) and secondly, is there a way to automatically assign
keywords to each page...e.g. dreamweaver seaches pages for text and
makes each word a keyword.....thanksDo a description - forget about keywords. They are ignored by
the major
players when fed only in the keyword meta tag.

Not only is it not there, it's not needed since this is
exactly what the
SE's do when they spider your page.

I use iPhoto to share my photos to different sites like facebook and flickr ... with facebook it's easy since the pics don't need much details ... however, I have some trouble with Flickr, since I need to add description, titles and tags for each picture ... is there a way to do so ?!
Titles and descriptions are not embedded into a photo until it is exported out of iPhoto with the following settings:
So if Facebook can read those values in an image file you'll need to export as shown above and upload to FB from outside of iPhoto or import back into iPhoto and sync the new files to FB.

Default is not for description and keywords?
I thought that a blank new page defaulted in code view to
give you keywords and descrition blank fields. I don't see that
now. Is that not default?Do exactly as the message says and contact iTunes customer support.
No one in these user to user support forums can assist with account issues. -
I made a template in CS4 and omitted to make the head tags an
editable region. I now have lots of pages made from the template
that I cannot apply keywords etc, to individually.
What is the best way to edit the template to resolve this for
future pages?
Is it possible to edit the template to make the head tags an
editable region so that I can apply it to pages already made from
the existing pages?
thanks
Carey> <meta name="keywords" content="" />
> <meta name="description" content="" />
You have already entered the meta tags for both description
and keywords,
and they are blank. However, these tags are in the
non-editable region of
the template page, thus all child pages will have identical
content in the
tags (if only there were content). This is not the best
practice - each
page should have its own description.
> <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="head" --><!--
TemplateEndEditable --><br
> />
This is where you *should* enter a meta description tag for
each page, so
that your code would look like this -
<!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="head" -->
<meta name="description" content="Some description of this
particular page"
/>
<!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
(note that the trailing <br /> tag does not belong in
the HEAD of the page,
and so I have removed it)
Note also that this entry is made in an editable region, so
it will NOT
propagate to existing child pages. Although I have some the
example above
for the TEMPLATE page, you should replicate this process each
existing child
page. NEWLY created child pages (i.e., ones that you make
*after* adding
this code to the template page) will get this markup in their
head region -
in that case, you'd only have to edit it, rather than add it.

Image with Title/Description Hover on MouseOver
Hello All,
So currently I am having trouble getting this perfect. I have an image that populates dynamically, as well as Title, Description and Link to the details page. The problem is the hover is not centered to the image, and in IE it doesn't always appear when you mouse over. If anyone could please help me out I would greatly appreciate it! I haven't been able to get this to work properly, and have been working on/off for a week.
Here is the html/php code:
<div class="featured2">
<h2>Featured </h2>
<?php foreach ($feature as $featured) { ?>
<div class="featured-pic2">
<img src="image/<?php echo $featured['filename']; ?>" alt="" width="320" height="320" />
<div class="title2">
<a href="details.php?place=<?php echo $featured['link_name']; ?>">
<span>
<h2><?php echo $featured['name']; ?></h2>
<p><?php echo substr($featured['description'], 0, strpos($featured['description'], '.')+1);?></p>
</a>
</span>
</div>
</div>
<?php } ?>
</div>
And here is the CSS
.featured-pic2 {
position:relative;
float:left;
width:320px;
height:320px;
padding:5px 5px 5px 5px;
border:#F00 }
.title2 {
left:0px;
top:0px;
position:absolute;
float:left;
width: 325px;
height: 325px;
top:0px;
left:0px;
.title2 a {
color: #FFF;
width: 320px;
height: 320px;
display: block;
text-decoration: none;
.title2 a:hover {
background:#000;
opacity:.60;
filter:alpha(opacity=60);
.title2 a span {
display: none;
padding:0px;
.title2 a:hover span {
display: block;Ok so I have made some modifications to the CSS as follows; What isn't correct now is that in IE9 the hover is white (no big deal) should be grey, but in Mozilla the hover is not centered (because I removed the padding on a:hover) to center it in IE. Other than that the functionality is great now! And just some minor details to work out.
.featured-pic2 {
position:relative;
float:left;
width:320px;
height:320px;
padding:5px 5px 5px 5px;
border:#F00 }
.title2 {
left:0px;
top:0px;
position:absolute;
float:left;
width: 325px;
height: 325px;
top:0px;
left:0px;
.featured-pic2 a {
color: #666;
width: 320px;
height: 320px;
display: block;
text-decoration: none;
.featured-pic2 a:hover {

Lost Titles and Keywords during Importation from older Mac
I have a brand new MacBook. The Apple store where I bought it transferred all my files from my old iBook G4 to the new machine. BUT . . . most of the 3000 photos in my old iPhoto (Vers. 5.0.4) file omitted all of the keywords and most of the titles during the transfer to iPhoto (Vers. 6.0.6). I think the shop used Migration Assistant for the transfer.
I have tried 4 times to re-transfer, using Apples recommended method of "Import to Library . . ." using a firewire connection. But I have no better luck than did the Apple shop: most titles and all keywords missing.
The importation also gave me something that I really don't want: The Original of every photo that I ever modified in the past now shows up in the Library. I guess it is important to have the originals stored somewhere, but why aren't they in a hidden file somewhere -- not right up there demanding attention every time I use iPhoto?
I've been a Mac user since the beginning of time, but am now wondering (especially in view of the thousands of questions from other users as bewildered as I) if Apple hasn't gotten themselves into the category of "If you are smart enough to do it, you are too smart to try it". Should I just forget iPhoto, and put all of my photos into folders of my own creation, and manually copy all titles and keywords from my old Mac while I still have access to it?
Thanks in advance for your advice and suggestions.
MacBook Mac OS X (10.4.9) Brand New
MacBook Mac OS X (10.4.9) Brand Newfwheby
First off, there is no part of this process that involves using the 'import to library' function. If you want to do this, you'll be creating a new library and will lose your titles and keywords.
The job is to get the iPhoto Library Folder from the old machine to the new machine.
When you applied BatchMod, did you tick the box to apply to enclosed folders?
Assuming that you did, then we're into file management issues. The usual things that prevent copying are File Permissions (and you've sorted that) or a damaged file.
We'll try an copy the library over piecemeal, and see if we can track down the errant file. This is tricky, as we need to recreate the library exactly or the library won't work.
On the New Machine Create a Folder in the Pictures Folder and call it iPhoto Library Folder.
From the old Library, copy all the ancillary files - just the files, anything not in a folder.
If they work, start moving through your Year Folders. If one doesn't copy, leave it and go on to the next one.
Then, repeat the process until you discover the problem file(s) or folder(s) - it'll be one that won't copy.
Remember, it is vital to make an exact copy of the iPhoto Library Folder on the new machine.
Post back when you've got this done.

aren't.
2. meta name="keywords" is a waste of time. Most SEs ignore
