Title / Description Metadata

In Flash CS3 when you did Modify/Document it allowed you to type in a document Title and Description which were metadata searchable by internet search engines. According to the book "Brilliant Flash CS4" this is still possible in CS4, but I think they have removed the option, and the book is wrong.
Is it still possible to add metadata for searching to FLA documents or is this now gone?

you can use metadata with cs4 but not the metadata tags that were added to html to aid search engines.  the cs4 metadata tags are designed to smooth flex/flash work-flow.
i believe, html metadata tags are now of minor importance to search engines.  but if you want to add them using cs4, i believe you'll need to add them by hand.

  • SharePoint 2013: Error when clicking on Title, description, and logo

    Hi.
    I'm in the process of upgrading from SharePoint 2007 to 2013 and have come across an error which I think has occurred since trying to deploy a new feature to implement our "Company Theme" (Custom look). Please note, everything is otherwise behaving
    as expected in the new 2013 environment and the issue does not occur for site collections/content db's that are deleted and restored from the interim 2010 upgraded backup, so I am assuming its something I've done as part of deploying, retracting and redeploying
    the theme feature (a number of times).
    So, on to the problem... When I click on "Title, description, and logo" in Site Settings I get the following error:
    "Sorry, something went wrong
    A list, survey, discussion board, or document library with the specified title already exists in this web site.  Please choose another title."
    My research suggests there is something wrong with the masterpage, which I had initially included as part of the feature but have since gone back to using the default "seattle.master" when creating the Composed look (only spcolor and spfont are
    different now).
    The same error also occurs when trying to preview a composed look.
    Anyway, while I can probably get away with re-upgrading the affected site collections and re-enabling the theme feature, I'd like to know if I can fix this (or rather, what caused it) before going to production.
    BTW, I'm getting the following errors in the Log file:
    "The list "$Resources:core,webpageassetList;" in web "..." was not created"
    "Failed to create list "... etc."
    (I would copy the entire error messages but its not pasting - I'll try on a reply post)
    Thanks,
    Paul.

  • Image with Title/Description Hover on MouseOver

    Hello All,
    So currently I am having trouble getting this perfect. I have an image that populates dynamically, as well as Title, Description and Link to the details page. The problem is the hover is not centered to the image, and in IE it doesn't always appear when you mouse over. If anyone could please help me out I would greatly appreciate it! I haven't been able to get this to work properly, and have been working on/off for a week.
    Here is the html/php code:
      <div class="featured2">
        <h2>Featured </h2>
        <?php foreach ($feature as $featured) { ?>
      <div class="featured-pic2">
            <img src="image/<?php echo $featured['filename']; ?>" alt="" width="320" height="320" />
            <div class="title2">
            <a href="details.php?place=<?php echo $featured['link_name']; ?>">
            <span>
         <h2><?php echo $featured['name']; ?></h2>
      <p><?php echo substr($featured['description'], 0, strpos($featured['description'], '.')+1);?></p>
            </a>
            </span>
            </div>
            </div>
    <?php } ?>
      </div>
    And here is the CSS
    .featured-pic2 {
    position:relative;
    float:left;
    width:320px;
    height:320px;
    padding:5px 5px 5px 5px;
    border:#F00 }
    .title2 {
    left:0px;
    top:0px;
    position:absolute;
    float:left;
    width: 325px;
    height: 325px;
    top:0px;
    left:0px;
    .title2 a {
    color: #FFF;
    width: 320px;
    height: 320px;
    display: block;
    text-decoration: none;
    .title2 a:hover {
    background:#000;
    opacity:.60;
    filter:alpha(opacity=60);
    .title2 a span {
    display: none;
    padding:0px;
    .title2 a:hover span {
    display: block;

    Ok so I have made some modifications to the CSS as follows; What isn't correct now is that in IE9 the hover is white (no big deal) should be grey, but in Mozilla the hover is not centered (because I removed the padding on a:hover) to center it in IE. Other than that the functionality is great now! And just some minor details to work out.
    .featured-pic2 {
        position:relative;
        float:left;
        width:320px;
        height:320px;
        padding:5px 5px 5px 5px;
        border:#F00 }
    .title2 {
        left:0px;
        top:0px;
        position:absolute;
        float:left;
        width: 325px;
        height: 325px;
        top:0px;
        left:0px;
    .featured-pic2 a {
        color: #666;
        width: 320px;
        height: 320px;
        display: block;
        text-decoration: none;
    .featured-pic2 a:hover {
        background:#000;
        opacity:.60;
        ms-filter:"progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=60)";
        filter:alpha(opacity=60);
        padding: 0px;
    .featured-pic2 a span {
        display: none;
        padding:5px;
    .featured-pic2 a:hover span {
        display: block;

    1. Title, description, etc. must be inside the
    <head></head> tags. Your's
    aren't.
    2. meta name="keywords" is a waste of time. Most SEs ignore

  • Extract the description metadata before placing.

    How to get the description metadata of an InCopy file without placing it, I mean from the XMPFile.
    I have this code but it's give me an empty string also I'm sure that there is a description.
    if (ExternalObject.AdobeXMPScript == undefined)
              ExternalObject.AdobeXMPScript = new ExternalObject('lib:AdobeXMPScript');
    var xmpFile = new XMPFile("/Users/Designer_002/Desktop/temp/Blocks/Block.210.00.incx", XMPConst.UNKNOWN, XMPConst.OPEN_FOR_READ);
    var xmp = xmpFile.getXMP();
    alert(xmp.getProperty(XMPConst.NS_DC, "description"));
    xmpFile.closeFile(XMPConst.CLOSE_UPDATE_SAFELY);

    Thanks it's worked, I needed to write "description[1]" instead of "description".
    Look at this snippet from the above mentioned article part 2:
    Almost all data stored here is in ‘Array valued XMP properties’. For example if we want to get‘description’ and we use methods from above,
    1
    var myDescription = myXmp.getProperty(XMPConst.NS_DC,'description');
    we will get empty string. Thet’s because ‘description’ data is inside ‘XMP Array’. So, how to retrieve data stored there? First way is to add ‘Array’ number at the end of node name like this:
    1
    var myDescription = myXmp.getProperty(XMPConst.NS_DC,'description[1]');

  • IPhoto import ignores titles, descriptions

    Years ago, I had limited harddrive space, so I used iPhoto to export old photos to photo CDs. When I insert said CDs, iPhoto opens them without a hitch, including all the titles and descriptions that I had arduously spent time filling out long ago.
    Now that I have greater harddrive space, I'd like to have all these exported photos back on my harddrive, all in one place. So I tell iPhoto to import the photos from the photo CDs. To my dismay, the imported photos have the filenames (e.g. "IMG_1079") as their titles, and the descriptions are empty. iPhoto does not recognize its own title/description signature in the photo CDs it exported!
    Anyone know of a way I could make iPhoto import the thousands of photos I have stored away WITH the titles and descriptions that I spent so much time writing?
    Thanks!
    Phil

    Okay thanks for the tip, I think I might be one small step closer.
    I copied the "iPhoto Library" folder off the disk, and double clicked the "Library6.iPhoto" file (so it must have been created by iPhoto 6). iPhoto '09 proceeded to convert the library to the '09 format, and the photos in this newly transformed library retain their titles and descriptions. Yay!
    But now I need to figure out a way to merge this library into my main library. I tried importing this library into my main one, but it resulted in the same problem of ignoring the titles and descriptions. Drag-and-dropping the newly created library into the main library brings the same result.

  • Best way to export photo titles/descriptions to Facebook?

    I'm a new Aperture user with only a few weeks of usage so far. I used it on a recent trip and made a nice set of photos with lots of metadata in the "caption" and "title" metadata fields. However, Aperture's Facebook export seems to be dumb beyond belief and only include the "version" data when adding the photos to Facebook. Is there any real way to get my extensive descriptions to get included? I would have expected something as "pro" as Aperture to do this properly and at least allow me to select what metadata would be associated with the available Facebook info.
    I tried a plugin called FacebookExport which did not work at all. It only exported one single photo and then got stuck doing nothing for hours.
    How do others do this, or is it simply not doable with Aperture? If it's not doable then I guess I'll have to quit using Aperture and try to get a refund, as sharing photos is very important to me.

    I too am a little confused as to whether there is the functionality here for meta data to be uploaded or not.  There is a setting within Aperture (Preferences - Advanced) to include location data.   But the images I upload (with location data), do not reflect on the map within Facebook.  Also when I change the version name with the caption (which is a pain as this is not what a version name is), when the album sync's with Facebook, it changes back again.   So the sync is not correct.
    The comments above seem to indicate this is a FB problem, not an Aperture problem.
    I'm hoping to bring this topic to someone's awareness and get the discussion going in the hope someone has a solution.

  • Edit the description metadata field.

    Is it possible to edit the 'description' field through a script.  I've been trying off and on all day and coming up dry. here is what i have now thanks to some script i've found from John Beardsworth (thanks, btw!!) that i managed to narrow to my needs...
    #target bridge
    if ( app.name == "bridge"  && app.version[0] == '3' )
    // Create main menu item
        var menu = new MenuElement( "menu", "Filename to Metadata cart", "at the end of Tools", "g2mMenu");
        var g2tCommand =  new MenuElement("command", "click here", "at the end of g2mMenu");
    //Submenu for filename to iptc title
        g2tCommand.onSelect = function(m)
            var getFolderChildren = true ;
            var filesOnly = true ;
            var thumbs = app.document.selections;
            for ( var i = 0; i < thumbs.length; i++ )
            { var thumb = thumbs[i];
               var md = thumb.synchronousMetadata;
               md.namespace ="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1//";
               md.Description= "hello World";
               Window.alert ("Done " + i + " records");
    //closing brace
    I simply cannot get it to change the info in the description field.  It even willl give me the alert saying it did  it and nothing will be there.  this works fine for Title and Headline, but not description... any ideas?
    obivously this is a simpler version of what i actually want to write into the description field, otherwise i wouldn't need a script.  But if i can get this to work, i can get my real needs to work as well.
    thansk.

    I think your main problem is that you are using the wrong property name. Try "description" and not "Description." XMP property names are case sensative.
    The following script works for me:
    #target bridge
    // Where is this script?
    var curFolder = new File( $.fileName ).parent;
    // Make a simple JPEG file here for the test
    var somePixels = new BitmapData( 300, 200);
    var jpgFile = new File( curFolder.fsName + "/test.jpg");
    somePixels.exportTo( jpgFile, 100, true );
    // Make a thumbnail
    var thumb = new Thumbnail( jpgFile );
    // Get the Metadata
    var md = thumb.synchronousMetadata;
    // set the namespace
    app.synchronousMode = true;
    md.namespace = "http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/";
    // set the property
    md.description = "Testing 1,2,3";
    // Make sure the Bridge UI sees the change
    thumb.core.metadata.cacheData.status = "bad";
    If I change my script to use "Description" then the script sets a new, bogus property "dc:Description" in the XMP.
    I recommend always keeping a copy of Part 2 of the XMP Specification handy when writing any scripts that modify metadata. Double check the spec for the correct namespace URIs and property names. Get the spec here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/xmp/

  • Chart Linear Axis's title(Description) is not displaying chinese words!

    Recently on my project's end there is a need to translate the current english web portal to chinese web portal . In the middle of the transition , i found that i had a difficulty to replace the Linear Axis description with chinese words , the initial code i had use to declare the english version linear axis description  is shown as below:
    <mx:verticalAxis>
    <mx:LinearAxis labelFunction="linearAxis_labelFunc" title="Population" displayName="Population">
    </mx:LinearAxis>
    </mx:verticalAxis>
    Then i replace the chinese words into the title and displayname , and this should be a very straight foward change. Eventually when i compile and run , the chart's linear axis doesnt shows up any words at all .
    for testing purpose , i had actually try to insert the chinese words in between the english words example:
    <mx:verticalAxis>
    <mx:LinearAxis labelFunction="linearAxis_labelFunc" title="P(Chinese words here)opul(Chinese Words here)ation" displayName="P(Chinese Words here)opul(Chinese Words Here)ation">
    </mx:LinearAxis>
    </mx:verticalAxis>
    Eventually the results only shows the description " Population ",
    I had try to drag the chart to be way more larger to see if there is an alignment problem on the description, but still the chinese words is not appearing. So far i had no problem in inserting the chinese words into the panel title , label , and other table axis . I only have problem on the CHART'S LINEAR AXIS DESCRIPTION. it seems like the compiler is ignoring it !  i am currently using Adobe Flex Builder 3 Professional . Please Help me ! This is Urgent !

  • Saving ai file with title, description and keywords to jpg

    Hi,
    Is ther a way to save an ai file to eps and jpg   including the document title, the description and keywords in the xmp file info?
    JPD

    Hi,
    I was wondering if I can get the Description and keywords from an ai file
    then
    add theese to a created jpg or eps with something like this:
    ---snip     SaveForStocks-10.js version 1.1 ---
      // Export as a jpg
      targetFile = new File(destFolder + '/' + name1);
      Doc.exportFile( targetFile, fileType, jpgExportOpts );
    --- snip---
    ---snip     http://forums.adobe.com/thread/478694?tstart=60 --
    #target bridge
    addNametoMeta = {};
    addNametoMeta.execute = function(){
      var sels = app.document.selections;
      for (var i = 0; i < sels.length; i++){
    var md = sels[i].synchronousMetadata;
        md.namespace = "http://ns.adobe.com/photoshop/1.0/";
        var Name = decodeURI(sels[i].name).replace(/\.[^\.]+$/, '');
        md.Keywords = md.Keywords +  ";" +  Name;
    ----- snip----

  • Title description and Keywords

    What is the optimum length in characters or words for each of the three categories?
    Title?
    Description?
    Keywords?
    I heard dont use too many, but what is too many?
    Doug

    There isn't a set number of characters, but a good rule of thumb is...
    Title - a short sentence - remember it is displayed along the top of the browser window, so you'll want it to fit and not be cut off.
    Description - a longer sentence - this should be as to the point as possible, remember Google uses the description or part of it in the search results listing.
    Keywords - use them if you like but Google doesn't even look at the Keyword meta tag anymore, so don't obsess about this one.  Just put in five or ten keywords for some other search engines that may look at this and move on
    Hope this helps.

  • Is it possible to share multiple photos from iPhoto to flickr with embedded title, description and tags for each photo?

    I use iPhoto to share my photos to different sites like facebook and flickr ... with facebook it's easy since the pics don't need much details ... however, I have some trouble with Flickr, since I need to add description, titles and tags for each picture ... is there a way to do so ?!

    Titles and descriptions are not embedded into a photo until it is exported out of iPhoto with the following settings:
    So if Facebook can read those values in an image file you'll need to export as shown above and upload to FB from outside of iPhoto or import back into iPhoto and sync the new files to FB.

  • Edit episode number, season, show, description metadata?

    Is this possible?
    I've imported my own tv shows off DVD and would like to match their metadata w/the stuff I've bought from the iTunes store. I've noticed the shows from the store have tags in the "album" field which appears to match the "show" tag... "Track number" appears to match "episode #."
    I can't see "description" or "season" anywhere though.
    Is there a way to designate your video file as a certain type to pull up additional fields?
    Thanks,

    Is there a way to designate your video file as a certain type to pull up additional fields?
    You can modify the tags using Lostify.
    Your videos have to be in mp4 format though.

  • Retrieve "Description" metadata from image with XML

    I'm trying to create an automated workflow for some of my newspaper pages. I've learned how to use XML to import text into different tags on the page, and images into tagged image boxes on the page. My question now is how to generate "Description" info that is located within the images metadata under "File Info." You see, our photographer saves his images as a jpg and adds the caption info under "description" before saving in Photoshop. I want to have this "description" meta data to import in one shot along with my headlines, text and images. Right now I have to manually "Generate a caption" or create a Live Caption." It seems to me like there must be a way to generate the "description" info into and existing text box underneath a photo.
    See screen shot below for an example of where I am trying to generate the caption. I want to generate the text "An Overall of Village Greens Golf Club" when I import my XML file. I don't like using the "Live Caption" optin because if the text box isn't touching the image box, the info disappears. Is there an alternate way?
    Thanks a lot!

    I am sorry, you will need to use the caption functionality. And yes, the caption's text frame has to touch the image or has to be in a group with the image, at least for live caption. But what is the problem here? If you need a distance of the text to the image set up an object style which has set up a text offset at the top and will bring the text in the wanted distance to the image.
    That was answer to your question.
    Another thing I see in your screen shoot is a very complicated layout. You could simplify a lot when you
    use the span column function for the Headlines
    use only one text frame
    use an anchored frame, settings saved in object style for the photo on the left top
    use only automatic hyphenation and use the user dictionary
    avoid multiple spaces in any circumstance and use fix sized spaces in their place.
    work with layers.

  • IPhoto Titles & Descriptions revert while editing them.

    So I've had this issue for a while, but it's only recently annoyed me enough to seek help for it.
    When I'm in iPhoto, and have the 'info' tab open.   Quite often when I go in and try to edit a Title or Description of a photo, half-way through editing it, it will suddenly revert back to being whatever the original version was.  I find I have to type fast to make sure this doesn't happen.
    Also, many times if I enter something, then click off elsewhere, it will immediately revert.  Whereas keeping my cursor in the edit area, and just 'waiting' until it changes back to the non-edit widget, seems 'safer'.
    Why is it doing this?  Makes it very annoying to attempt to edit things.

    No 3 would be my next step.
    If that doesn't help:
    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
