Title of the form
hello all,
My form has a long title. The title of the form gets displayed properly on phones with larger displays but on phones with smaller displays (samsung) it gets truncated. How can this problem be solved ??
regards,
@debug
You should first search on the on-line help of your forms installation.....
Anyway , take a look at set_window_property...

How to change/set the browser title from web forms (XP platform with SP2)
I am running Form9i, I have set the browser windows title from Web Forms dynamically by using following method. However, when my PC has changed to XP, the function seems not work. Does anybody have same problem and how to solve it? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Add the Javascript code to your baseHTML file. For example,
if you are using the basejini.htm:
<HEAD><TITLE>%pageTitle%</TITLE>
<script language="javascript1.2" type="text/javascript1.2">
function Change(a) { document.title=a; } </script>
</HEAD>
In web Forms , call the javascript function with WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT built.
For Example the following code set the browser title with username . web.show_document('javascript:Change('||'"'|| get_application_property(USERNAME)||'"'||')','_self');
Best Regards,
BowieDear Frank,
Thanks for your reply. Can you tell me in detail which built-in function in Webutil can set value in browser title ?
Btw, is it possible for me to set parameter "separateFrame=True" in formsweb.cfg and set the form window title by using SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY(FORMS_MDI_WINDOW,TITLE,v_msg_string)?
Best Regards,

Confirm Form Resubmission Title with the message
Hi,
We have website which has mobile support from Iphone when we use the website, after clicking on Login, its show a conformation
Confirm Form Resubmission Title with the message The page that you're looking for used information that you entered. Returning to that page might cause any action you took to be repeated. Do you want to continue?
Continue and Cancel button.
This happens only in Iphone deviceTurns out that Firefox became a little more fussy about standards than IE. (Imagine that!!) Code created hidden inputs of type="text" , then called a javascript function and passed the values in the hidden inputs as parameters. The original code just passed the name of the input as a variable. The Firefox Webconsole then complained that the variable was not declared. Once I passed the variable.value, then the error went away, Firefox was happy, didn't break IE, so I'm happy.

Suppose there is form in a web page and it submits data in HTTP POST method. After submitting the form, if I reload the page [either by the refresh button or back button; whichever applicable], firefox asks permission to resend the form data by saying "To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action...". Now if the user clicks on the resend, firefox resubmits the form data.
So where does firefox store this from data for such future resending/resubmission?
Is it possible to retrieve/manipulate those stored form data?I thought I'd tried that, as tried lots of other things like encoding URL, but obviously not as this works.
Thanks for the quick reply.
We also have an issue with the people results not being able to be refined by Department or Job Title now we have connected the SP2010 farm to use the service applications from a SP2013 farm.
Any ideas on this? I've started a new thread as its unrelated though:

Icons are not visible when the form is run
I develop a form with only a push button. I developed form using oracle 10DS. I have saved my form in application server. To see an icon in my button, i did the following things:
1. In application server i made a jar named test.jar. It consists of just two gif images.
2. I copied this jar in application server's \forms90\java directory
3. I configured formsweb.cfg file as the following.
4. my \form90\java\oracle\forms\registry\registry.dat is as the following.
whenever i run form i can not see icon but in client's oracle jar cache jar is downloaded.

I tried many times. But could not be successful. Then I just kept my icons in
\forms90\java directory without making jar. In my form, icon file name is the icon name without extension. Here, i can see my icon in button. but if i replace an icon
without changing the name of the icon, then i always see the old icon. The new icon, i can not see.
Please, help me with only Oracle 10g AS how i can see icon in button. Let's assume, there is not oracle 10g DS (any development tool) in the machine where the form is run.
Please, guide me clearly step by step so that i might be successful.
Thanks.
TKARIMThanks Bernard,
It works fine with JInitiator but not working with
the JPI. For JPI what settings I need to do ??hi TKARIM and Bernard, i am having similar problem even with the Bernard's recommended setup. could you post the webutiljini.htm (i presume you are using config=test) ?
i am actually using jinitiator 1.3.1.28 with Oracle HTTP Server of OAS 10gR2) calling Forms Server 6i (f60cgi). After setting up according to Bernard's recommended setup steps, the java console showed that it loaded the icon jar file when it could not read the form, but it skipped the loading of the icon jar file once it read and started the form. How do we specify in the form to pick up the icon from the jar file instead from a directory ? Or do we need to specify ? Any ideas ?
Thx and Regards

What are the security settings to lock down a form with fillable fields and yet allow someone with Reader to fill in the fields as will as save the form and print it?
You want to allow someone to open your document and fill out the form (in the fields you have created), but not change or edit the form, right? Here's the answer - assuming you are using Acrobat Pro and someone will be opening the PDF using at least Acrobat Reader 9 and up:
Tools > Protection > Encrypt < Encrypt with Password
Answer YES to change the security.
A new window opens:
Do NOT select Document Open (or that will require a password to open the document.)
Select: Permissions (Check the box next to "Restrict editing and printing of the document.")
Change the following 2 settings from the drop-down box:
Printing Allowed: Select High Resolution
Changes Allowed: Select Commenting, filling in form fields, and signing signature fields
Leave selected: "Enable text access for screen reader devices for the visually impaired"
Change Permissions Password (insert a strong password)
Leave all other settings alone in "Options"
OK - OK
Re-enter the Permissions Password (the one you entered above)
OK - OK
Save the PDF to apply the security [notice that (SECURED0 will appear after the document title] -
How do I create a header in the response table for a column I want to use that is not on the form it
Example: My form has 10 fillable questions. The Response table uses 10 columns to show the answers to those questions. I would like to use 3 more columns to record internal information. How do I insert the header titles?
Hi,
You can go to Responses view tab, focus on your last column header and then click menu Table->Add Column After. Or you click + button at the end of table - refer below image.
I am not clear your question "How do I insert the header titles?" Do you mean you want to use your form title as data value in each cell in the column? If yes, you can set formula in the column following below steps.
1. Click +Add a Row button
2. Focus on the cell on column L (I assume you want to set your formular on this column).
3. Input ="your form title" into the cell
Then after you received a submission, the form title would display in the related cell in each row.
Hope it will help you.
Thanks,

Is there a way you can display a persons title from a form in a workflow notification?
I have created a normal form using the form builder and of course you have to use the title, first name and last name etc.
Now everything works fine and the details are sent to the database and an email goes to the customer BUT with the
workflow notification that goes to the Admins of the site the "title" is not shown under the Workflow Summary tag.
Is there a way I can get the Workflow Summary in the notification to display the person's title?No, Safari on the iPad in iOS 5 uses tabbed browsing. You can try leaving feedback for Apple : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

Title of the browser displaying a report output through web.show_document
Hiya
We are using Oracle Forms 10g 10.1.2.0.2
All our Forms and Reports are working well.
We are using Java Script in Web.Show_Document so that when the report is displayed on the screen in the browser, the browser's toolbar and menubar should not be visible.
The code looks like this:
v_url_in := 'reports/rwservlet' || '/getjobid' || v_job_id || '?server='|| 'my_rep_server';
v_url_out := 'javascript:window.open("'||v_url_in||'", " ", "toolbar=no,menubar=no");self.close();';
Web.Show_Document (v_url_out, '_blank');
The above code is working absolutely fine. No issues about this.
Now when the report opens in a new browser window,the title of the browser window reads as follows:
http://<hostname>:8889/reports/rwservlet/getjobid1234?server=my_rep_server - Microsoft Internet Explorer
So rather than displaying the title of the browser window as the URL of our Application Server, we want to show the title to Reports name so that it
reads as
'Customer Sales Summary Report - Microsoft Internet Explorer'.
Does anyone has any idea if it is possible to change the title of the browser window, if so, how ?
Cheers
MayurMayur,
I'm not a web developer either, however, I've done this kind of thing using the HTP database package - as I mentioned. What you could do is write a database procedure that accepts the URL and the Title as parameters and let the procedure open the URL for you. For example:
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE show_url(p_url VARCHAR2, p_title varchar2) AS
BEGIN
htp.htmlOpen;
htp.headOpen;
htp.htitle(p_title);
htp.headClose;
htp.bodyOpen( cattributes => 'onLoad="WinOpen()"');
htp.bodyOpen;
htp.script(clanguage => 'javascript',
cscript => '<!--
function WinOpen() { open("'||p_url||'","_self");
//-->'
htp.bodyClose;
htp.htmlClose;
END;I was unable to test this procedure on my Oracle XE install, but it should work on a non-XE database.
Hope this helps.

if i am not using struts frame work, how can i call?
i am not using any of the frame work.
for example.
i am searching for a customer name from a database
i have coded the form fields in jsp
as
<%@page session="true"%>
<%@page errorPage="ErrorPage.jsp"%>
<%@page import="com.krysl.model.*"%>
<jsp:useBean id="model" scope="session" class="com.krysl.model.webmodel"/>
<html>
<head>
<title>Customer Seach</title>
<jsp:include page="SetBaseURL.jsp" flush="false"/>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://forums.sureshkumar.net/style.css">
</head>
<body>
<jsp:include page="Banner.jsp" flush="false"/>
<h1>Customer Search</h1
<form method="POST" action=".......................">
<b>Customer Name</b>
<input type="TEXT" name="customerSearchArgument" size="20">
<input type="submit" value="search">
</form>
</body>
</html>
this "customerSearchArgument" will receive a class method
package com.krysl.controller;
import java.io.*;
import java.sql.SQLException;
import javax.servlet.*;
import javax.servlet.http.*;
import com.krysl.model.*;
* @author dsdc
public class customersearchaction extends Action
public void run() throws ServletException, IOException
String arg = request.getParameter("customerSearchArgument");
if(arg != null)
arg = arg.trim();
if(!arg.equals(""))
try
model.customerSearch(arg);
catch(SQLException e)
throw new ServletException(e.getMessage());
final String next = "/CustomersList.jsp";
RequestDispatcher rd = application.getRequestDispatcher(next);
if(rd == null)
throw new ServletException("Could not find" + next);
rd.forward(request, response);
All other database connections and related things i coded in
some other classes webmodel, model, controller servlets etc....
in the above class the model.customerseach(arg);
will do all the searching.
my doubt is how to call this method in that action="" of jsp
i tried as action="com.krysl.model.customersearch"
action="com/krysl/model/customersearch"
its not working
please letme kno

Digging into the XFA data from AS in the form guide
So I'm delving into the wonderful and wacky world of making custom layouts for Form Guides in Flex Builder, and I've got a question that hopefully y'all can answer or point me in the right direction.
So I've taken the SampleRepeaterAccordion file from the SDK and I want to modify it so that the 'title' of each accordion pane is drawn from the one of the fields in the pane itself. These values get populated in the initialize event of the subform the repeater is built off of, and the values do not change.
So I see that the title is an Hbox with a label that pulls the name of the panel and adds the index after the name. I've been able to modify that statement to pull the item that the repeater instance is based off of using the currentItem property of the repeater. So I have something like:
label="{rpt.currentItem.Resource.value}"
(where 'Resource' is the name of the field in the subform that I want to pull the value from).
This puts "[object Object]" into the label of the HBox. I want the value itself, however. I tried .rawValue instead of .value, but that came out blank.
So how should I be going about fishing data from the XFA form in the action script of the form guide? Or am I headed entirely the wrong direction? I didn't see any docs on this sort of thing. If I missed them, I'd appreciate a pointer to them!
Thanks!Hi Templeton,
Did you find any solution for it. Is there any way to tell in form guide that which field on the repeater I want to display in header.
I was also thinking of making it in flex a custom component to do that and also add filtering capabilities. do you know how can we filter records in repeater accordion or grid
Also can you send me your code if you don't mind
Thanks

Below is the form I created
When I fill out the form in Firefox and access it through my email client that I set up in my email_form.php, I get the email, I see the name and the email address that I put in the form but I don't see the comments that I put in the form. I have another site where eveything works but not this one.
