Title problem when emailing iPhoto photos via Entourage

Hi,
I have been attempting to email photos from iPhoto with the title that i have given the photo (not just the random one assigned by my camera). However, whenever i select a photo and share it via email it always assigns the original title like p111110. instead of holidayphoto. for example. This occurs whether title and comment boxes are ticked or not. Does anyone have any idea as i would like to send out photos with informative titles so my friends have a clue what they are looking at.

You're confusing the Title with the Filename. They are not the same thing. The title is an entry in the IPTC metadata that is understood by any photo app on any system. If you want to use the Title as a filename then file -> Export and check out the option to use the Title as a filename in the resulting dialogue.

The email function from iPhoto is pretty basic. The only Bcc available is to yourself (in iPhoto > Preferences > Advanced), cc: does not appear to be available at all, and it does not appear you can email to a group.
You can change this by going to iPhoto > Preferences > General and next to where it says Email photos using: select Mail. If you do this you have all the options available in Mail including Cc: and Bcc: and the ability to drag a group from Address Book into the mail addresses.

HT4236 Problem when I sync photos to my iPhone from my pc..

I have a problem when I sync photos from my pc to my iPhone. I do exactly like it says here ("To sync photos from a folder on your hard disk to your device"), but when I sync, my photos appear two times in two different folders in my Device..
When I did it two years ago (I think) it was ok. But since then, every time my photos appear two times and I can't understand why..

Photos synced to your phone are not duplicated. iPhone organizes synced photos the same way iPhoto on a Mac does. All photos synced to your phone are stored in your Photos Library. The various albums/folders merely contain pointers to the actual photos, which are stored in your Photos Library, they are not duplicates, & no , you can't delete the Photo Library.

Yeah - I tried that, several times; each time I get "iTunes is restoring the software on this iPhone" and after about 30 minutes the screen on the phone lights up again with the same screen I had before. After that ... nothing.

When emailing a photo, can't resize anymore

previously, when emailing a photo from the iPad2's photos app, I could tap the Cc/Bcc line on the message composition screen to invoke a popup that allowed me to choose a size for the photo to be sent. Try quitting the photos app first. Go to your home screen. Double tap the home button to bring up the task bar with recent apps at the bottom. Tap and hold down on the photo app icon until it wiggles and then tap the minus sign in the corner of the icon to close the app. Tap the screen above the task bar. Restart the iPad. Hold down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and slide to shut down. Hold down on the sleep button until the Apple logo appears to start up. Try the photos again.
If that doesn't work reset the iPad. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons - try the photos app again.

Problem when renaming iPhoto Library

I recently renamed two iPhoto Libraries. A day later I plugged in my external HDD to do a Time Machine (TM) backup and noticed that TM deleted ALL my previous backups except the last one, stating there was not enough space.
My conclusion is that renaming these libraries caused TM to see them as NEW libraries and wanted to back them up all over again, meaning I needed 40GB of space rather than the 15GB available and let to the deletion of all my previous backups (without warning)!
I have posted about this in the TM forum, but decided to mention it here as well to warn others of this potential problem.

How are your external HDs formatted? Both need to be formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled, not case sensitive) to work with iPhoto.
If the file system differ, you may have problems with ambitious filenames, for example, if one drive is case sensitive and the other not.

The contact list I get when emailing a photo inside camera is different from "contacts" or the one in my email account and it has incorrect email addresses in it. how do I change it or get rid of it.

In the future, you might get better results if you post your own thread rather than responding to one that is this old (a year and a half).
When the contact that is not in your contact lists shows up, tap teh arrow beside it inteh list. The information pop up will give you the opportunity to remove it from the "Recents" list (or add it, if you choose).

Aperture 3 problem export (or share) photos via outlook

I have Aperture 3.5.1; Outlook for Mac 2011 version 14.3.9
When I try to export (or share) photos via email using Outlook I can see the little wheel on Aperture spin saying "exporting" however it does NOT open a new email window and I cannot find out where the photos have gone. In Aperture preferences I have set Outlook; Tiff 8 and sRGG; 300dpi and medium size.
It used to work however I simply cannot figure out the problem. I can export to desktop and move them that way but extra steps and unnecessary. Any help great appreciated.

Since I don't use Outlook as Mail client, I don't know, if the Mavericks Update to Mavericks 10.9.2 fixed this. But it cannot hurt to update, since this update included bug fixes.

How to remove image overlay when emailing a photo?

When I try and email a photo directly from aperture, the selected photo has another photo embedded in it. The same photos is alway overlayed in the lower right hand corner. It seems like some setting got activated but I can't figure out how to remove it. Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds as though you have a watermark assigned to the Export Preset you have in turn assigned to be used when you email an Image.
The Export Preset is selected at "Aperture➞Preferences➞Export". Export Presets can be customized via "Aperture➞Presets➞Export". Either select a Preset that does not have a watermark, or remove the watermark from the selected Preset.

My iPhone's screen is unresponsive when emailing a photo from the camera roll

Hello all, first time here, and I have an odd issue with my iPhone 5, running iOS 6.1.4
If I go to my camera roll and select a photo, then go and select "mail" from the options, it brings up the typical email message(I use gmail)
but if I go to tap the address section, it takes 5-6 taps to get the phone to bring up the keyboard to enter an address. The weirdest part is,
if I go into my email and start a message normally, it only takes the 1 tap to get the phone to bring up the keyboard for the address. I have
tried to reproduce this in other apps, and it appears to only happen when I email a photo from the camera roll.
Any ideas? Maybe a backup/restore? Thanks in advance.

Restored as new, did not restore from a backup. Set up my gmail account, took a test photo and tried to email it, and problem persists. Guess it must be a hardware thing, just so weird it only happens in the camera roll and not in regular email.

Mailing photos via Entourage

I select one or more pictures in iPhoto, select mail(Entourage) and then select a size that's less than 400 KB which is Entourage size limit for including a picture in the mail window (either sending or receiving). When Entourage boots the picture shows as an attachment but does not show in the mail window. Instead there's a image name like IMG_1846 but no picture.
The only way I can get the picture to show in the composing mail window is to drag it to the desktop and drag it back to the message window. How can I get the picture to show in the message window when Entourage boots? The picture does show in the message window when I open the sent mail.

In Entourage, check the Format menu and see if HTML is checked. If it isn't checked, your picture CANNOT show up in a plain-text message--if it is already checked, here's the link to the Entourage forum because I haven't a clue (I use Entourage, but I always compose plain-text):

Firewire device causing problems when connected to Mini via LaCie ExtHD/Bus

Hello there..
Just bought LaCie 300GB Ext.HD/Bus(Firewire &USB). It was recognized by my Mini no problem. I have used the firewire connection between The HD and the mini. The problems begin when I try to connect my M-Audio firewire audio interface (it's mains powered, by the way) to one of the firewire bus inputs of the LaCie - then every action gets the dreaded spinning beachball and I have to shut down etc. The connection of this device has even prevented the HD being recognized by my system, in the case where I have tried having it already connected and powered up before switching on and connecting the HD to the Mini.
I've tried other things such as PMU reset, to no lasting avail.
This is the same firewire audio interface that has worked fine for months when plugged directly into the Mini, so why should there be a problem when it's connected to the bus port of the HD?
Now, as a temporary solution, I have changed the connection between the Mini and the HD/Bus from Firewire to USB - this means I can now use the FW port on the Mini to connect my audio interface (as before). The problem with this is that I work alot with video as well as audio, and have learned that it's very advisable to use firewire drives when working on video...but there is only one FW input on my Mini, so if the La Cie HD is using that, there is no port for audio interface to go in...that's why I bought this particular HD - more storage on a FW HD which has extra FW bus ports for such things as audio interfaces!
I hope I've explained the problem OK, thank you in advance for any advice.

You don't mention which model you have, but this is from the M-Audio Firewire 410 Manual Troubleshooting section:
The FireWire 410 has been designed to give you high performance and professional quality audio. It has been tested under a wide range
of systems and operating conditions. In the real world, however, there is a nearly infinite number of possible operating scenarios, any of
which could affect your system’s performance. Much like owning an automobile, “your mileage may vary.” This section can not begin to
cover all possible issues you may encounter, however we want to give you some suggestions on common problems you may experience.
One thing to avoid is connecting too many devices. The FireWire bus is a dependable, high-speed, high-bandwidth protocol which is ideally
suited for digital audio. Nonetheless, it’s important to remember that audio and multimedia streaming places considerable demands on
your processor and the FireWire bus. Although it is theoretically possible to chain many multiple FireWire devices in series, doing so may
potentially degrade your audio performance.
I guess this degradation could also affect the Firewire HD. Maybe there is a simple fix, but it sounds like the M-Audio people have been down this road before.

Problems when attaching a photo from Iphoto 6 to my .mac mail

When I click on attach I don't get to the Iphoto library but either to a certain photo or just somewhere on the computer and I have to find a way to get to the library and to originals or modified.
It never used to be this way!
Also when I click attach I get to photos I have deleted and to duplicates with no names on them.
How do I delete these unwanted photos?

First, the easiest way to add a photo to an email is to click on the Mail button in iPhoto. That creates a new email in iMail with the photo(s) already attached. That's how iPhoto has been designed to work.
As far as the deleted,etc. files, are you emptying iPhoto's trash after moving the photos to it? Can you get the file path for those files you're taken to?
Yes I understand that and that is what I do when I want to start a NEW email BUT when I reply to a person's email and want to include a photo or a file I click on ATTACH, and then I get a pull down menu. On the left side it lists ONE particular photo and in the middle above it lists a few photos or Heidi's Mac or other places/files/ photos I have already used in the last few days.
I then play around with it till I get to IPhoto Library and originals or modified and THEN I get a list of photos Roll 1 Roll 2 etc. Some just have the name of a photo and if I click on THOSE I just get a url (cannot figure out how to move them to the originals or modified) and other ROLLS are photos that I want deleted as they are duplicates that have not been "fixed" in IPhoto.
Yes I do delete the trash all the time.
Am I making any sense and if so can you help? It is frustrating to have to go through so many unwanted photos!
