Title vs name of file

I created a files in itunes and changed the titles, I doubled up some of the numbers by accident. I used Adobe bridge to rename the files in sequential order, however when I import them into Itunes it still displays them with the old title. If I get info on the item in finder it shows the name of the file and under more info it shows the Title How can I wipe that out and have Itunes use the name of the file?

I use Itunes to manage my music. I have songs that got titled incorrectly when I initially imported them. Since you are keeping music "organized," iTunes will rename the file according to the information stored in the tags. So, you renamed the files, but as soon as they were back in iTunes, iTunes changed them back.
It is important that they play in order. I need to know how to erase that original title from the more info section of the get info section, and still keep the songs in order.
If you want them to play in a certain order, you are really trying to do it the hard way. Instead, put them in a playlist in the order you want, make sure they are all checked, make sure shuffle is turned off, and start playing at the top.

  • Set title as name of file

    I have had a template file for a few years and use it as the starting of the sermons for our church.
    Up till the pther day I started to export from garageband to itunes and the name for the file has changed. I noticed that the "Title" field was filled out in the template file (Not sure what was there before) so I deleted it and left it blank.
    Now when it exports to itunes, itunes shoes it as "export" instead of the file name.
    Does anyone know what I need to set in the "title" field so that it will render as the name of the file like it did before?

    Have you upgraded to GarageBand 10.0?
    In the previous GarageBand 6.0.5 I do not see a "Title" field on export, just like before.
    In GarageBand 10.0 the "Title" field will always be auto filled with the filename of the project, plus an added time stamp of the time of export, so you can identify different version of the same song.
    Now when it exports to itunes, itunes shoes it as "export" instead of the file name.
    Have you tried to edit the "Title" field again? You can change it anytime in the share panel.
    I suspect, if this field is auto populating with "Export", your project file may have been renamed to "Export.band" when you saved it.

  • Prompt For Document Title as well as file name

    Is there script or setting which requires the entry of document title as well as file name upon the saving a document? I understand that I can open document properties prior to saving, but I would prefer to enter the save command and be prompted to enter a doucment's title as well it file name. Thanks.

    You can use the Prefix field to include things like "Dr.", and this will appear on the label.
    I do not see any automatic way to include Job Title, but if you don't have too many to print you can do a kluge by putting the job title in the first line of the addres, then return, then the real first line.  This will print nicely.  But is work putting it in.

  • How to name several files in a folder

    Hi
    I've got a question in regards to the process of naming several files in a folder. I know that in Windows it is possible to mark all files in a folder and then rename them all without having to rename every single file. Let me give you an example;
    * I have a folder og photos name "Summer 2009".
    * In this folder there is 65 files(photos)
    * I mark all items and rename them "Summer 2009"
    * After this, the files in the folder be named: "Summer 2009 (1)", "Summer 2009 (2)", "Summer 2009 (3)" etc. etc.
    In this way it is easier to keep every photo arranged in the order I prefer and it does not take long to name the files.
    So my question goes; is there a such a function or a similar one on my Mac?
    Kind regards

    @ Kappy
    Preciate the reply, however it seems that one thing is in common for all of the applications suggested (and more). Whenever i wish to rename a bunch of files, the app wants me type ind the "Original tex" and then to replace it with a new (decidede by me). However, in almost every case the files within a given folder have got a hundred different names and it is therefore not possible for me to write the "original text" as these differ from file to file.
    Basically, what I am after is an app which allows me to rename all the files in a given folder (despite their orginal title) to one new common name. For instance:
    A folder "Summer 2010" includes 23 files (images) named;
    - Jane swiming
    - Afternoon bbq
    - Late night walk
    - etc.
    I wish to rename all these files to "Summer 2010" so that I myself can arrange the order that I prefer and so that I know the name of all of the files.
    Hopefullly, this all makes sense? The function in Windows is easy and logical, so I cant understand if a similar function is not avaliable for Mac.

  • Multiple drag emails from Mail to a finder window and for it to name the files as the subject heading

    Hi
    I have been using Mac's now for about 10 years and this is my first problem.
    I have recently moved into an office that use PC's with a Windows server.
    I have set up the network to transfer files and view the windows server and it  works fine.
    I have a problem in that my colleagues on PC need to be able to view my emails which I send and receive using Mail. They therefore need to have logical title names and the date sent and ideally who to or from. I view them and archive them using Mail which is fine for me.
    I understand about the archiving and copying of mailboxes but this gives every email the un-fathomable title name 9944847 etc.
    I can get round the problem by dragging and dropping every email I send and receive individually and it will automatically give it a more logical title of the subject heading however the date is when it was dragged not when sent. This is a pain if I am away or forget to save an email for a day or two and then the date is inconsistent.
    Is there a way to batch copy emails from Mail to a finder window and for it to name the files as the subject heading or to archive the files in a similar way so they retain the detailed information my colleagues require.
    And no I can not get to all change to Mac and I don't really fancy using Outlook, Entourage or Parallels.
    Please help.
    Toby

    Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
    Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
    Triple-click the text on the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
    from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
    A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
    Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. If you get a warning that the file is in use when you try to empty the Trash, log out and log back in.

  • Title from previous Numbers file printing on new Numbers file

    I have a Numbers 3.2 file that was originally created by duplicating another Numbers file in a previous version of Numbers. When I print this newer file, the title of the other file prints above each table in the file, though this title does not show above each table while I’m working on it, and I can’t find a way to get access to the title. Adding a “Table Name” does not change this situation.
    Any ideas how I can get access to this title? Thanks!
    And why can’t I upload images to illustrate the problem? I’ve tried both jpg and pdf - the “insert image” button remains grayed out after I select the file to upload.

    Hi prismalight,
    Wayne Contello has written a User Tip on how to post a screen shot.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6591
    If 'Insert Image' is greyed out, Close the Insert Box (red cross on the top right) click on the camera icon again. Camera icon sometimes needs a wake-up call, but works the second time.
    Remove any personal details before taking the screen shot.
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • Song titles, artitist names, etc., do not show up on burned CD

    Can someone please tell me why when I burn a playlist onto a CD the song information does not transfer? It doesn't have song titles, artist names, etc.
    Thanks!

    Original CDs from the store do not have track titles either.
    iTunes looks them up on the Gracenote CD Database.
    Burn the CD and make sure the info is there.
    Select the CD, then menu Advanced -> Submit CD track names.
    Ont he next computer, use iTUnes (or whatever program) to look up CD track names and it should retrieve them.

  • What Characters Cannot Be Used In Titles In An XML File?

    Forgive me for asking what I feel like should be an easy question to answer on my own.  I am Googling and cannot seem to find it anywhere, though I remember reading it at one time.  I know that if I type an ampersand (&) in one of my podcast titles that the XML file will not function correctly until I remove the ampersand and replace it with the word "and."  I am wondering if this happens with the question mark character (?).  I would like to title one of my podcasts as a question, but would like to avoid the hassle ahead of time.  What symbols can I not use in titles/summaries in my XML file, and is there a way to use these symbols in titles/summaries without confusing the XML file?

    You are fine with question marks, commas, colons and semi colons, underscores, hyphens and exclamation points as long as they are within tage such as 'title' and 'itunes:subtitle'. As you say you must not have an ampersand by itself anywhere because it's used in XML to indicate the start of a code sequence which is then never completed. You can use the code
    &
    instead, or indeed the workd 'and' of course.
    Diacriticals - é, ü etc - are OK as long as you type them directly into the feed or whatever is making it. For more unusual characters see this page:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#commonmistakes
    and scroll down to 'Using Named HTML Character Entitities'.
    As Robert says, never construct your text in a word processor and copy it in; this way you may embed invisible control codes; and quote marks are likely to be 'smart quotes' ('curtly quotes'). Either of these will wreck your feed completely.

  • To test how can we use the opt  'logical file name' to name the file based

    Hi Sir/Madam,
               to test how can we use the opt  'logical file name' to name the file based on the selection made in the dtp run for extracting data as flat file.

    Hi Vishali,
    In the DTP select the file location as application server and give the logical file path. The actual file and logical path can be created using transaction "FILE" and "AL11".
    Rest of the process is same as that of extraction from local file.

  • Dynamic File name in File Adapter

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to pass dynamic file name in File Adapter.
    Is there any way to pass a variable for the file name attribut in file adapter.
    I am looking for some options apart from %yyMMddHHmmss%,%SEQ%...etc
    Please suggest if any of you have information on how to put values from a variable to file name attribute in file adapter
    regards
    Saiju

    Hi Saiju,
    Yes there is.
    Assign your file name to a variable, let's say 'fileName'.
    Now go to your invoke activity(for the specific fileadapter) -> Property tab-> find a property call jca.file.FileName -> in the value field assign 'fileName' variable.
    That's it... (assuming you are using 11g)

  • Xml file in dynamic file name in file receiver adapter

    Hi,
    I'm doing the dynamic file name in file receiver adapter. I have done as per instructed in /people/jayakrishnan.nair/blog/2005/06/20/dynamic-file-name-using-xi-30-sp12-part--i
    All turned out okay. I have got the file name I require. Except that the file format is XML and I need to suppress the filename node occupied by the dynamic file name.
    The content conversion mentioned in /people/sravya.talanki2/blog/2005/08/11/solution-to-the-problem-encountered-using-variable-substitution-with-xi-sp12, does not seem to solve my problem. As it is only for file format other than the XML one, because we only do the content conversion if we want to "convert" the format of the content from XML to the other format.
    Does anybody have the solution to my problem? thanks in advance

    Thank you Raj for the direction
    The way to do it is :
    1. In ID, advanced tab, put a check on the adapter-specific message attributes - file name.
    2. Put a "*" on the file name scheme
    3. In IR, create a UDF to set up target file name :
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container
    .getTransformationParameters()
    .get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
    // set up file name for receiver adapter
    String SourceFileName = conf.get(key);
    conf.put(key, TargetFileName);
    return " ";
    4. Map the above UDF to the header level of the target structure.

  • How do I get a "Details" display--as the default--when downloading a file, in the "Enter name of file to save to..." dialog box?

    When I receive an attachment to an email, and I click it and select "Download", I get the "Enter name of file to save to..." dialog box (because I already set the option to "Always ask me where to save files." But the file display always defaults to a "List". At least recently. I don't recall it always doing that. In any case, I want it to default to a "Details" display, in ascending order, as I can then find things sooo much faster that way. (I often use the "Date Modified" tab to bring to the top the most recent version of a file.) I know that I can go to the "View Menu" icon and select "Details", but each time I go into a sub folder while in this dialog box, I have to do that all over again and it wastes a lot of time and attention.
    I did some internet searches but didn't find a way to fix this.

    Thanks for reaching out, glennr.
    The dialog box you are describing is controlled by Windows, not Firefox, so unfortunately Firefox cannot change what you see by default.
    I think your best bet would be to ask on the [http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp?auth=1 Windows support site].

  • 'name of file'.pages can't be opened

    I recently purchaced a new MacBook Pro (retina), before which I was using a standard MacBook (the white one from late 2009). I had updated all the software as much as I could only a couple of weeks prior to getting my new MacBook on the older one. I had most of my files saved on iCloud so there was no problem getting them when I logged into my account on my new MacBook. However, there was one file which I don't believe was backed up to iCloud (as I can't see it on my new laptop or my iPad). This file had been saved in pages and I had attatched it to an email a few months ago so I downloaded it from the email in which I sent it. The file is in my downloads but I think because the version of pages on which it had been saved isn't the same as the one on my current laptop, I can't open it, instead I get a message with the pages icon and "'name of file'.pages can't be opened". I really need to be able to open this file so any suggestions or help anyone might be able to give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
