Titles in Japanese come up SCRAMBLED

I have used iMovie many times to make slideshows/home videos with titles IN ENGLISH, but now I want to do one in Japanese and I've encountered a problem. I can enter the Japanese script as I do in MS Word or Entourage or whatever, and it will convert to the appropriate kanji characters in the text entry box, but when the title preview comes up, the text is scrambled into meaningless symbols. I have tried setting the computer's 1st language as Japanese (through International in system preferences), hoping to get at it that way, but the titles still scramble even when all the menus are in Japanese. My iMovie version is old - 4.0.1, but still very serviceable, at least in English!! Any tips??

Ok, now how’s THIS for weird...
I changed int’l settings to Jpns and composed all the titles, no problem. Then I switched the system back to English to do photos, etc. While doing that I decided to change a title, forgetting that I was “supposed to” have the system set to Jpns in order to do so (prior to yesterday, I had been unable to use Jpns titles while in English mode). Well, I get through changing the title (successfully) and then realize that it worked just fine doing a Jpns title while Int’l was set to ENGLISH!!! I really don’t get it. Somehow it “fixed” itself...
Curiouser and curiouser...

  • Cannot convert PDF to Word properly. Comes back scrambled.

    I just bought today PDF to Word converter today.
    I tried all possiblities and the document always comes back scrambled.
    What do I do wrong?

    What are you using to convert: Acrobat, or the ExportPDF online service?
    What exactly means "cannot"?

    Every time I save a file "save as" my folders, lists etc. come up scrambled. I want them to be alphabetical every time. How can this be set? or fixed? I do NOT want to use Recent or click "set up details" everytime and then alphabetize the list, because this takes too long and too many clicks.
    Yes, I want to be asked where to save a file every time.
    I am using XP

    Sure EVERY TiME you save you can click on details then name and then 3rd click to bring it up alphabetical ( which may be backwards Z-A) then save. And then the next time you save you can do again. I want it to always, forever come up alphabetical like everything does on my computer when i save things.

  • Downloaded Mavericks, since, some email through Entourage comes in scrambled

    Interesting... the email that I have been receiving since I updated the OS on the iMac, which I utilize Microsoft Office everyday, especially Entourage, has been scrambled.  Yet, what I just found out,  when I copy and paste to here so that you can see the scramble, it pastes in plain English (readable).  So I pasted to a blank word document and it also pastes in plain English.  Now, email that are from friends (typed in by them) come in scrambled, while email from businesses, adverstisers, and so forth are in plain English (not scrambled).
    Scrambled = Corrupted

    See if there is an encoding setting in Entourage. It sounds like it is displaying the text in the wrong encoding scheme. I haven't used Entourage, so I can't begin to guess if that is an option or where to find it.

  • Itunes won't display any Japanese song titles

    Any ideas.  I recently downloaded the latest itunes (10.4).  Prior to this all my song titles displayed correctly in both Japanese and English.  Now, only some Japanese Artists (in Japanese Characters) will display correctly in the library, but the songs will not.  All the songs show up on my ipod touch 4 though and all the song titles are associated with the songs in the files.
    I have an Dell running XP and have Japanese fonts installed.  I have checked my library and the song titles show when I right-click and open up 'get info'. The song is there and the title shows there, but it doesn't show if I just have the library showing.
    As for trouble shooting - I have done the following:
    a) reinstalled itunes
    b) retyped the song titles in Japanese
    c) played songs
    d) converted ID3 tags (which just moved the song and made things worse)
    e) reconverted ID3 tags which did nothing
    Apple - How can I fix this?  If I can't, please ensure the new Itunes 10.5 or 11.0 will resolved this issue.  If not, can I re-install the old itunes version of 10.1 or 9.? ?
    Thanks for your help.

    I am having the same problem. Why do we keep using Apple when their support is so pitiful? You cannot contact Apple about problems. Hopefully they will eventually correct the problem. Good Luck.

  • Importing music from computer in a different language (Japanese)

    I am attemting to import music in titled in Japanese but in Itunes it shows up as rubbish. The music is ok but the titles etc don't come across properly.The computer is set up for both english & japanese. Can anyone help?

    Probably the ID3 tags of the song files are not in the right encoding (Unicode). See if this note helps. It has a link to ConvertZ, which may be useful.

  • Issue with retriving the title of objects

    Hello Colleagues,
    I am trying to develop an application which builds a tree structure with the objects assigned to a user in runtime.i.e if a user has a particular role lets say content administration,it list you the role and the objects inside that role.
    I am able to build the tree structure ,but the structure shows the ID of all the objects ,i.e  if its role is content Administration,then in my structure its shows com.sap.portal.content_administration.
    But i want to show the title here as content Administration.
    initially i tried using:
    1.String title = searchResult.get("com.sap.portal.pcm.Title").get().toString()
    but this gave me the title as Locale = ;content Administration.This full string instead of content administration.
    2.then i tried using the locale
    //get the locale
    Locale locale = WDClientUser.getLoggedInClientUser().getLocale();
    IAdminBase adminBaseRole = (IAdminBase)searchResult.getObject();
    if(adminBaseRole!=null){
    IAttributeSet attrSetRole = (IAttributeSet)adminBaseRole.getImplementation(IAdminBase.ATTRIBUTE_SET);
    String objectName=attrSetRole.getAttribute("com.sap.portal.pcm.Title", locale);
    but here i am getting the follwing error:
    java.lang.ClassCastException: class com.sapportals.portal.pcd.gl.PcdGlContext:service:com.sap.tc.pcd.gl.srvcom.sap.engine.boot.loader.ResourceMultiParentClassLoader1325aefalive incompatible with interface com.sap.portal.pcm.admin.IAdminBase:library:tcepbcpcm~adminapicom.sap.engine.boot.loader.ResourceMultiParentClassLoadere26d2ealive
    Has any one faced this error?
    Or do you have any suggestions here?

  • Creating a new title template from a .psd file

    We weren't happy with any of the lower thirds that Premiere had for us, so I got one of the people in my office to create a lower third that would look nicer, but now I've just got this .psd image that I don't seem to be able to get into title form.
    Its just an image of a thought bubble that says "science tips" and then a darly shaded rectangle with blue text inside of it, but when I try to import the .psd image as a logo in the titler screen it comes up with the thought bubble very washed out and see through ( the thought bubble is white on the inside in the .psd file) and the darkly shaded area doesn't show up at all.
    I fell this may be a photoshop error on my part as likely as anything else,  but mostly, I'm wondering if bringing it in as a logo is the right way to go?
    -Dan

    Ann,
    I like that workflow.
    I handle my "custom" Lower-Thirds (or similar) just a bit differently. I create the artwork in PS, and then Import that as an Asset. I'll then do a regular Title for just the text, placing it above the PSD of my graphic. My workflow does mean that I will need to Import that PSD into each Project, but I put a copy into my Common Assets folder, for ease of Importing, as is required. I can also individually animate each element, as is needed. If I wish to animate the Layered elements of the graphic, I'll Import as a Sequence, keeping my Layers, but with Lower-Thirds, I usually end up animating both the graphic and the text as a unit, i.e. the same Keyframing for each of those elements.
    Your method will all one to do a full Save_As a Template, and allow for easy changes of the text, as the graphic is but a logo. Neat!
    Thanks,
    Hunt

  • How to add a Button in JFrame title Bar ?

    Hi Folks,
    I want to add a button near to JFrame's Minimize Button(On the title bar). How can i do it ? Should i extend RootPaneUI and add custom button ? Any other easy ways to do this ?
    If anyone provides me Sample Code how to do it, It is much Appreciated.
    Thanks,

    There's no easy way to achieve this. You'll have to provide a RootPaneUI delegate with a custom title pane implementation. There, you'll have to provide a custom layout to position your button. In addition, this approach will not work on look-and-feels that do not support decorated mode (such as Windows or GTK) since under such LAFs the title pane always comes from the OS.

  • PDF conversion into xml sometimes scrambles text

    I've been using the "save as" function in Acrobat Pro 9 to convert PDF documents into xml text transcripts, but all too often that text comes out scrambled: instead of working within the column divisions on the page, the Acrobat conversion process will read across the page, braiding together, line by line, text that appears on the same level in two and sometimes three adjacent columns. Has anyone else experienced this, and is there anything I can do to prevent it from happening?

    IAC methods are the COM/.NET methods on Windows.
    a) You can get the document metadata and the size of each page but not tagged status from IAC. Plugins can get all the info.
    b) There is NO WAY to get the password for an encrypted document (using ANY API), since the password is never stored in the PDF itself.
    c-e can only be obtained using plugin APIs
    f can be obtained using any API - IAC or plugin.
    g is only available for plugins.
    I don't understand h - do you just mean the version in the document or an actual REAL usage value?

  • ITunes 8 Japanese Text Bug

    Just downloaded ITunes 8, and I discovered that when I'm modifying the name of my playlists or music the "quick" way (double clicking and then modifying the text), the text that was in Japanese characters suddenly appears as boxes (like if ITunes didn't support Japanese text). When I'm not modifying it anymore it's fine.
    ?.?

    i have this same problem. never happened until i updated to itunes 8. this does not only pertain to japanese language alone, but to all asian fonts (and i'm assuming some other foreign fonts like arabic as well).
    no problem displaying the japanese characters on the song info that's already on the songs in the first place, and no problem modifying japanese text through the "get info" palette. but like you said, when trying to modify song info through double-clicking and then edit, all the japanese characters become squares symbols.
    this also means there's no way to edit playlist titles with japanese font?

  • ITunes extracted album art file name oddity (Japanese characters)

    I am on iTunes 10.6.3. After doing a clean install of Mountain Lion I have noticed that although the iTunes version has not changed some behavior is slightly different than when it was running under Snow Leopard.
    Any time I drag album art from an album titled with Japanese characters out of the "Now Playing" pane in the lower left of the iTunes GUI the image file in Finder has been named with weird characters. I can successfully rename the file in Finder with the proper Japanese characters. Why is iTunes naming the image files incorrectly?
    Here is an example of an album art image file both as it came from iTunes and after being renamed. The top one is the incorrectly titled file that came straight from iTunes.

    Try this...
    btabz: My songs have artwork in iTunes, but it won't transfer to my iPod!
    It is for a slightly different issue, but the instructions should work.
    If those don't work, you may need to restore the iPod as the link says.

  • Titles pixalated after burning my project

    In Imovie 09 my project looks great on my mac but when i go to idvd and burn it, all the titles i have put in on imovie look really pixalated when i play them through my dvd player. ive even played it through a dvd player connected with HDMI and still looks rubbish....
    hope someone can help, and that i have explained my problem correct....
    cheers

    Hi fiction6
    Welcome to apple discussions. Do you happen to have iMovie 6 also on your mac? Unlike iMovie '09, iM6 uses two fields of video (not just one).
    I'm assuming single field processing does absolutely nothing to improve upon the quality of titles when it comes to burning them to standard Dvd-R.
    Suggestion only: Perhaps you'll get somewhat better results with titles (and video) when using an older version like iMovie6 as opposed to iM'09 (that is if the objective is to burn titles to Dvd-R as opposed to editing video for the internet). The following links help shed some light on the difference between iM 6 vs. IM'09.
    Btw, up until recently iM6 was a free download from apple's web site. However, they stopped offering this download. Not sure why. But maybe you can still find it on the internet. Good luck and feel free to keep us posted.
