Titles lose glow effect in Final Cut Pro X

Im using Final Cut Pro X and when I create a title with the glow feature after a while of editing the feature turns off and you can't make the title glow anymore without creating a new one. Still after you make a new one soon the glow effects eventually turns off but it says it's on.
The project im working on is an hour long. Also it's had one other glitch where in three clips one to two frames go blank. After I added titles to the clips the frames went back to normal and the others that i didnt want text I added blank titles to fix the frames. Any advise on what I should do?

In the Timeline position your Playhead at the starting position.
In the Viewport position the Shape Mask at the starting position.
In the Inspector click the Add Keyframe button.
Press Control-V to open the Animation Editor to see your keyframes.
Move the Playhead and the Shape Mask to a new position.
In the Inspector click the Add Keyframe button.
Continue adding keyframes until you have defined the Shape Mask’s movement.

  • Can anyone recommend a beauty filter or glow effect for final cut pro x

I'm looking for a plug in filter that's like the old plug ins for final cut pro 7 for final cut pro x
Any suggestions.  FYI final cut pro x effects does not have it.
I'm not looking to fix skin tone but looking for a beauty filter for final cut pro x
    Thanks

I put together some filters using old Photoshop tricks:
    Colorist Toy Box:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mlm6QF-FSGI  (has a nice "aura" effect feature)
    SC Sharpen Tools:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVD0kZIpq9s
    (explanations: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8CEb0K_IZo)
The two effects can be combined on clips.
    YMMV

  • SUPER USEFUL TIP: Use clean titles as adjustment layers in Final Cut Pro X

One thing I love in After Effects are adjustment layers and I just realized you can actually use titles as effects in Final Cut Pro X and they behave just like adjustment layers (actually you can go much further in Final Cut Pro X).
So titles process everything below in Final Cut Pro X even with effects applied to it. So why not just build clean title in Motion 5, put that to top "track" and add effects to it. This way you don't have to hassle that much with compound clips.
This technique works with all effects (also color board works on titles) so for example if you want to have certain look for some period of time simply add clean title to top track for that time and add effect to it. I think this technique has tons of potential for people who want to keep their timelines in order and don't want to create complex compound clip messes.
If you don't have Motion 5 you can download Adjustment Layer here. Just extract contents to your Movies/Motion Templates/Titles folder and you'll find it in Final Cut Pro X Titles under Adjustment Layer.

  • How do I turn on the GUI controls for the Focus Blur Effect in Final Cut Pro X

I can't find the setting that enables the GUI control overlay to manipulate the parameters of the Focus blur effect in Final Cut Pro X. When I have the clip and the focus effect selected I only get a center element overlay. At one point I had controls for all the other elements of this effect.
anyone know a shortcut or how I can toggle these controls back on?

I don't see any other screen controls either.
Maybe there was a change sometime, or maybe you were using a different effect?

  • Is there an easier way to work with adobe after effects and final cut pro x

I use adobe after effects and I am thinking about deleting motion and compressor ( I can always install again). If you have a good reason to keep those apps let me know because I don't want to be hasty. If I delete them and stick with after effects and final cut pro...  Is there a secret to easy working between FCPX and adobe after effects?
    Thanks

You'll go from FCP X to and from Motion a lot easier than AE.  Motion does pretty much anything AE does, most of the time faster and easier.  Without Motion, you can't do custom templates.  You can't customize the encoding of files without Compressor.  Why would you want to remove them from your system?  Leave them, use AE if you want along side of them.  But I'd learn Motion first.  Cause AE doesn't read FCPXML, so going back and forth between them is a PITA.
And until Apple releases the round trip between FCP X and Motion fully, we have this gem:

  • Where can I find a good, free effect for Final Cut Pro of electrocution?

Where can I find a good, free effect for Final Cut Pro of electrocution?  I'm using it for a taser sequence.
    Thanks!
    Matthew

Open Motion, look for lightningin the generators. From there, it's a question of figuring out how it works and what you need to do to make it work for your sequence. That's about as free as it gets and it will ony be as good--even if someone else did the work for you--as the amount of time you're willing to invest.

  • After effects vs final cut pro?

Is comparing adobe after effects to final cut pro, a fair comparison? What I mean is, looking around on youtube, I see better... effets on projects made with projects on after effects. now, I love FCP for editing, does adobe give a better program thats can do effects. I am looking to make my videos look more profesional, and I notice after effects has effects built into its system to do effects.
After looking at this vidoe, im sold, final cut pro can not do this that quick.

Effects do NOT make your videos more professional. Professionalism is the only thing that can make your videos appear to have been produced, written, shot, and edited by a professional. Even faking professional video requires elevated professionalism.
Hey! Just wait one second! That's is NOT what is promised by Apple and whoever makes those promises! All I have to do is buy the computer and the software and I'm a "professional!"
But I truly and strongly encourage you to go ahead and purchase After Effects based solely on the Video Copilot tutorials. Know in advance that AE is about ten times as complex as FCP ever will be and you will want to post extensively in the Beginner's AE Forum on the cow.

I would also suggest extensive posting in the FCP Beginners forum on the Cow for the OP.

  • Melting mirror effect in Final cut pro 7

    Hi Guys,
I finally managed to get a tutorial which teaches me how to make the demon face effect but its in motion not in final cut pro.. but anyways I wanted to know if any of you guys know how to melt a mirror in final cut pro??
    -A

You can't -as in there's no magic button for it.
There might well be third party plugins that can do something along those lines.
But why pay for them? You already have Motion.
Time to get the Motion manual out.

  • Where can I find this Sony Vegas effect in Final Cut Pro X?

    Hi all,
I have posted a video link below.  If you watch between :26 and :45 (and throughout the video) you will see a sort of "flashing" effect that happens as a transition between screens.  I have tried splitting screens and adding gaps but that doesn't seem to work unless I'm doing it wrong.  Does this effect look familiar to anyone and can you tell me how to do it in Final Cut Pro X?
    Here's the video: http://youtu.be/CXsiP1pfIHI
    Thank you so much!

I don't use FCP-X but those transitions look like  a specialized kind of dissolve called a non-additive mix.
    http://www.digitaledition.tv/term/non-additive-mix/
It is a dissolve where the luminance levels effect the transition, so that (very roughly described) darker parts of the incoming scene not as visible as the lighter parts which are thereby given prominence during the transition.
There is a discussion of the effect in FCP-X in the following link:

  • How to achieve the distort motion effect ala Final Cut Pro in Premiere CS4?

    Newbie here.
I have just recently started with video editing. In Final Cut Pro I have the option to distort a still image in the motion/effects panel. In premiere cs4 I only find the option to scale it up/down without the option to individually distort the four corners. Does anyone know how this can be done in premiere cs4?
The effect i am going for is the same as in Apples presentation of iPad. http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/specialevent0110/
I have an presentation wich I need to insert all the slides from the powerpoint presentation in the video.
Any help would be appreciated. ( I have searched around for an solution, but without results)
    Regards T

Here is a resource, that deserves a bookmark, the PrPro-Wiki. Plenty of great FAQ articles and tutorials.
I see the "Distort" part of the Effect in FCP, but the "Motion" aspect was throwing me. I kept thinking Posterize Time, and that is anything but what you were looking for. That's why I was going to head to Google for the FCP Help files, or similar.
    Good luck,

  • How can I publish the "levels" effect to final cut pro x?

    Hello,
I'm trying to publish all of the color correction plugins from motion into final cut pro x, the "levels" effect in particular. I have read the instructions in the manual and published all the parameters and then saved it to send it over to final cut pro x but the problem that I'm having is when I open it up in final cut pro x all the parameters are there except for the histogram and its controls, what am I doing wrong and how can I fix it? Thanks.

The short answer is you can't publish the levels graphic UI (you can, but it doesn't work in FCPX - all you get is the collection of the individual slider controls.)
You can create a shape with a gradient fill. Set a middle color tab and a second opacity tab. You can use Link parameter behaviors from the color/opacity tabs to the the filter > Levels parameter controls. Use the color tabs for Black In, Gamma and White In. Use the Opacity tabs for Black Out and White Out.
You can publish the shape's gradient.
The problem is, to publish this UI, you're publishing an actual gradient and people will be able to make alterations to the gradient (it won't change how it operates the levels controls.) The other problem with it is that it is possible for users to accidentally pull off or add new tabs which will immediately break the effect (and immediate "undo" should repair it though). Then, figuring out how to manipulate the Gamma control is going to be a trick (I haven't figured out yet.) The values go from 5 (all the way left) to 0 (all the way right - with 1 the 50% mark) for the Gamma control itself, but the UI controller (the middle tab on the gradient) moves the control in the opposite direction and the values are logarithmic in scale. You can use the mid-tab control on the gradient linked to the gamma parameter value, but it won't behave the same way as you would expect a genuine levels control to behave (left to right goes from black to white when the expectation would be the opposite.)
A gradient with links into the filter is about the only way to go if you want it give it a shot.

  • Exporting iMovie Day into Night effect into Final Cut Pro

    Hi all,
I really like the Day into Night filter effect in iMovie. I know there are various plugins online but I've yet to find one that looks the same and is as one click simple.
Does anyone know if it's possible and if so, how to locate the iMovie Day into Night effect and essentially paste it into Final Cut Pro so it will do the same one click effect?

Tom's right - I've been asking (being a plugin author) for it for years - I don't think Apple's listening...
No plugins for new iMovie... boo hoo... Are you Listening Apple?

  • Exporting from After Effects to Final Cut Pro

    Hi
Could anybody tell me the best way to export from After Effects, back in to Final Cut Pro? Do I need to get Automatic Duck for this, if so which one?
    Thanks for any help!
    Matt

You need to add your composition to the render cue and then export to the same format and codec that you're using in FCP. Automatic Duck is a great tool for getting your FCP or Motion timelines into After Effects but most of the time I simply select a clip in FCP, export it as a reference movie, bring it into AE for processing, then render a file to use as a replacement in FCP.
Search for After Effects Final Cut Workflow and you'll find some more tips including this one. It isn't bad for organization but it misses the point of using the same codec. All my FCP projects are ProRez HQ or ProREZ 444 so that's my choice. Also, if you use the entire shot, which is not a bad idea, then you can use the replace footage option in FCP which is more efficient than the demoed technique of dragging your rendered shot into the timeline and then trimming if needed.
    Hope this helps.

  • Rendering After Effects to Final Cut Pro

I'm very new to Final Cut Pro and After Effects. I've managed to learn the basics for FCP on Lynda.com and I can create a basic video. What I'd like to do now is create text intro that I can apply to the beginning of all my videos. I learned about the text effects in After Effects. From with After Effects I can open a text effect and create the text that I want. My question is, what settings should I use to export this to a format that I can then import into my movie timeline in FCP?
I'm creating HD videos in YouTube at 720p.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome home, Mench!
To maintain the alpha channel from AE, the OP will want to look up how to be using two codecs, Animation and ProRes 4444. Both are extensively described in the help system for FCP and After Effects or just google them for several hours of interesting reading. The OP will also need to understand the concept of an alpha channel which, come to think of it, was difficult for me.
